What a fantastic way to end off season 1!! Even though I am terrified for Elle, the overall premise of the episode had me gripped from start to finish

Can’t believe we’ve come to the first final episode of the series.. i’m a huge TV fan and i can say for sure, one thing Criminal Minds knows how to do is have the best season finales. It’s been a while since i’ve re-binged the show and even tho i’ve seen all of it several times, i was just like you while watching their off time, felt weird and nostalgic to see them outside their workspace. You’ve said it many times you enjoy getting the backstories and seeing them out and about with family etc, i’m just the same and always waiting for episodes such as those even after all this time! This season had a lot of great stories and cases but whenever i get reminded of season 1, the story of the mother that had to let go of her son and get a death sentence just to let him live a happy life comes to mind. It just stuck to me and is for sure a highlight of the season to me. Can’t wait for season 2!! 💫

Regarding the confusion with "Doctor Reid": Our boy has 3 PhDs (Math, Chemistry, and Engineering) at 24 (sheesh) but is still frequently referred to as "Agent Reid." In the first episode, during the introductions, Gideon corrects Hotch with "Doctor Reid" and Hotch later tells Reid that Gideon insists on making sure people know he has the title of Doctor (thrice!) because Reid's young age leads to a lot of people underestimating him and brushing him off. It gets corrected, though, and we hear "Doctor Spencer Reid" a lot more going forward :)

“That man” talking to Elle in Jamaica has been in quite a few things but what first comes to mind is his role as Sebastian/The Beast in Teen Wolf.

The unanimous favorites of the fandom are Garcia and Reid. Other characters tend to depend but for obvious reasons the females are usually pretty high up there. However compared to the other females we have throughout the show Elle is lower on the list.

i agree with the unanimous favorites, to me, even if CM had absolute best characters every season, JJ, Reid and Garcia dynamic stays favorite. in all the gore and horror that comes with cases and just overall pain. these three always feel like home.

I love every second we get to see of the team out of work. I don't personally care for Elle, but that's not a rare opinion. I think she's likeable, she's just never connected with me, even on rewatches. I like her friendship with Morgan though! It's already been said, but I'll reconfirm that we have indeed have seen and heard Reid being referred to as Doctor Reid for sure. He gets called Doctor more than Agent. Yeah the unanimous favorites of the team are usually Reid and Garcia. My personal top 5 this season is Reid, Garcia, Morgan, Hotch and then JJ. Because like you, I like Gideon even less than I like Elle lol There's definitely a development problem for the women of the show, but I'm used to it I suppose. Most women in most ensemble shows with more men characters, especially from the early 2000s, suffer from being severely underdeveloped. We probably know just as little about JJ and Garcia as we do Elle. Which is saying something considering how this show drip feeds development on all the characters lol But I think the show improves at this as the show goes on. Would love a character ranking at the finale of each season!

Trust, as a man who loves his girlies, the pain of underdevelopment in this era of TV was felt way too often 😭 its also interesting that the only development we have had for basically all 3 has been romantic in nature... but thats a topic for another time lol. And yeah its that really annoying balance where us NOT seeing them outside of work often then makes the times we do that much better. But i don't care, I just want more 😂

You just put into words a feeling i didn't realise i was having, its the comfort! They're the kind of characters that make a show like this even statt to become a comfort show. Without them I think it would just feel way too dark and depressing.

Mentioned it above, but its a really delicate balance they have going on deciding when to show backstory. Objectively I think they've actually got a perfect balance going of when to show and when to drip feed, but selfishly I can't take it anymore 😂 gimme a rundown NOW criminal minds 😤 Also SAME, annoyed i didn't mention that episode. It was the one story of the season that I think I'd have to mentally prepare for before watching. Like we had some gruesome and horrible stuff, but the sadness of watching a woman give every single part of her life for her child, fucking breaks you.

Reid and Garcia are definitely my favorites. JJ has a great character arc and becomes a favorite of mine. I LOVE Morgan and Garcia’s relationship. It is one of my favorite dynamics for the entirety of the show!

You may love a 2 part episode (and I do too), but it was torture waiting the entire summer to find out what happened.... I've watched this since it first aired and I was SO mad at the end of this one. Four months felt like forever to see how this ended.
