Hate that this is where we got with Hen's story, but INSANE respect to Chimney for doing what needed to be done. Hard to do with anyone, let alone your best friend. At least with her in the hospital we can finally see what is going on with her!

To answer your questions: the saw would have a guard we’d use with it to wedge in between the skin and the object so it stops there rather than go to the skin. In this case, we’d probably try with some Vaseline or lube but, I’ll be real, if all his other vitals are stable, we’re just gonna cart him off to the ED for a surgeon to handle. As far as the office workers, it is incredibly common for them to stay and gawk. Happens all the time. If we have extra hands, someone will handle the bystanders and tell them to go away. If we are getting them naked to get to where ever we need to treat we’ll try the best we can to clear out. Typically, police will also be there to assist but sometimes we have other priorities. As a side note, I’ve had only one call where someone remained on scene with the patient because they helped in the treatment and it was not for a kid, and yes something was inserted where it wasn’t supposed to be.
