Bloody hell, fantastic episode but I did not enjoy watching Reid be put into that situation 😭 leave my boy alone! Hate what happened but I would be lying if I said I wasn't excited to see where we are going with him now, definately opens the doors to some interesting storylines...

What an incredible episode! I never get tired of rewatching it, it's absolute genius all around. I love how every relationship in this show is just golden. Loved Hotch understanding hat Reid meant, loved Emily helping JJ out by getting her out the house, absolutely adored Reid immediately realizing what JJ meant by "I'm so sorry" and reassuring her that it wasn't her fault even though he himself was in so much pain and traumatized in that moment. I adore their relationship. You described it so well too, the moments were so heartbreaking but lovely at the same time, because it got us the beauty of their dynamics. And yes, you absolutely predicted Reid ending up getting addicted with so much done to him. It's almost an inevitability, even when you stay alive, you end up traumatized and with an unfortunate consequence, in Reid's case addicted and it was just super sad seeing him grab the drugs in the end. Absolutely looking forward to the next episodes!

I don't think that sugar coating anything about field work would have done JJ any favors. Talking through it with her would help. But yeah, only she can answer whether she can handle being in the field. None of the rest of the team can or should decide that for her (unless she was going to put them in danger by freezing up or something). And in that moment, Morgan didn't have time to help her though the emotions. They both needed to compartmentalize and get back to work, if they were going to save Reid. It sounds harsh, but there is not time for self-reflection in the middle of the crisis. That has to be pushed aside and handled after the crisis is resolved. I like to believe that Morgan and Emily sat down with JJ the next day and talked through everything, or just listened to her and reassured her that everyone has incredibly hard days and decisions in the field. And that hindsight is 20/20, so you can only look at and learn from previous actions. "What if's" just send you down the self doubt spiral. Can we talk about James Van Der Beek's acting?? The way you could tell which personality was in charge just by the way he moved. One of my favorite performances by a guest star. And one of the unsubs that I have a great deal of sympathy for, as his life was horrible.
