Who lives in your world is up to you:

Nexus Templates lets you create your own races, starting from scratch or copying an existing race as a starting point. Here, I’m making dark elves with their own custom portraits.

Add your images individually or link an entire folder. For names, paste a list or use a Foundry RollTable. You can also hide the included races that don’t belong in your setting.

Custom Race NPC Generation:

Your custom race becomes available when generating NPCs, using the names and portraits you provided. Those NPCs work like the ones you already create: edit their details, change their portraits, place them on the map, or add them to a settlement.

Custom races work with both Augur: Fantasy and Augur: Sci-fi’s NPC generators. You can also export your templates to reuse them in another world.

Give them a place in the world:

With Augur: Fantasy’s regional development tool, your custom races can populate their own settlements.

The Civilization tab lets you choose settlement names, faction type, suitable terrain, trade goods, and how likely these local factions are to join a regional power. Your mountain-dwelling dark elves can have mining settlements that remain independent, for example.

The video walks through creating this race and bringing it into a generated region.

Also in this update:

Edits save automatically. People, Organizations, Locations, and Ships save as you work, including before opening portrait, emblem, or trait pickers.

Use existing Actors in quests. Drop an Actor onto a quest giver or target. Nexus reuses its linked entry, or lets you use the Actor directly or create a suitable Nexus entry using its name and portrait. Creating an entry is always your choice, including for monsters.

Suggestions that fit your system. D&D 5e, Pathfinder 2e, and Traveller Actor types help Nexus suggest suitable entries, including Ships for Traveller spacecraft.

Faster map population. Placing something using the Nexus Placer rolls the next candidate automatically. Changing your generation selection refreshes both the candidate and cursor preview.

Shop restocking fixes. Fixed compatibility problems that prevented shops from generating stock with newer D&D 5e versions.

What race are you adding first? I’d love to see what you make.

Thank you for supporting the development of these tools!

Your World, Your Fantasy Races | Custom Worldbuilding in Foundry VTT

Get the modules on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TheAugur Your setting has its own people. Now they can be part of the worlds you generate in Foundry VTT. In this walkthrough, we use Nexus Templates to create a custom dark elf race, give it names and portraits, and generate NPCs and settlements populated by them. Start from scratch or copy an existing race, add your own artwork individually or by folder, and use name lists or Foundry RollTables. You can also hide races that don’t fit your setting. With Augur: Fantasy, take those custom races into regional development and choose their settlement names, faction types, preferred terrain, and trade goods. What fantasy race would you add to your world? Tell me in the comments, and subscribe for more Foundry VTT worldbuilding tools and walkthroughs. This is amazing and definitely adds to the freedom and ability to work things into the world. Two questions: 1st - Is there another module that your working on and is there any info that can be shared about it? 2nd - For the Hexlands module will there be anymore updates to its generator (More Tiles/Biomes, wider verity of tiles for each biome, more options to generate a map) and/or possible new features? (Like connecting the scenes together, or stitching scenes together to make old school hax crawl world map)

Hello and thank you!! I've been thinking of some kind of vfx module tailored specifically for my modules, if you have any suggestions in that regard I am all ears. As to your second question... you bet! None of my modules will ever be finished. I see this as an ever expanding suite of tools. For hexlands I want to do a sci-fi tileset of some kind, and also better ways to communicate ownership of hexes by factions and the like. For stitching scenes together, thats the whole reason to exist of the nexus module. It let's you put scenes on the hexmap as pins/markers that you can open as new scenes and they are organized and sorted.. its a "maps within maps" approach. If you have specific ideas for the hexmap generator, like a type of region you would like to see I am all ears. Always happy to hear ideas and suggestions.

Types of regions I would have to say would be these that I can think of - True costal region for beaches and the like - Maybe even if underwater regions (This one is more a wish then anything else lol) - Swamps - Ruins (Less Wastes and more just abandoned/lost to time areas) - Not sure how but region/biome specific rivers, roads, and the like A few suggestions (not sure their feasibility or even if I'm not understanding everything correctly but here they are) - The ability in hexlands to lock/save certain tiles on a hex map to generate a different section, while keeping the locked/saved tiles in place. (The idea for this was start with a small map then expanding on it when a party meet a civilization threshold. Unlocking more of the world either by expanding the map or generating tiles were empty tiles were placed to act as world borders) - The ability with hexlands and fantasy to continue and/or spread onto a different hex map keeping the same world fantasy data. (I wasn't sure if it was possible, and I honestly tried to it myself and failed with current tools so maybe just user error on my end.) Honestly most of my ideas come from a want to knit together a world with hex maps with a few more diverse options for hex generation. With map size constraints the way the are, and with "Scene Tiler" mod dead for new foundry vtt editions. I wanted to be able to piece together a super map using the hexlands maps created. Kinda like unlocking new regions like in a video game, just ttrpg edition. But honestly even as is, the module suit you have created is amazing. Definitely has given me a lot of freedom to develop games for my players.
