I have a new project.
cass is helping me out, potentially full time.
Only cass for now.
You might hear from her occasionally.

It's a text adventure.
Writing and design is what I enjoy most; this lets me focus on it.
It's not the most exciting genre, but this is meant to be a small-scale, manageable project.

This idea was actually born the same day that I decided to take the prior hiatus from Starlight, last year.
I made that whole post about dealing with alexithymia... The same conversation that cass convinced me to take that break and deal with it was the one that sparked this idea.
Emotional detachment is still a major theme, but it's moved away from it a bit.

If any of you remember Don't Play This Game, while this is a different project, it occupies the same emotional niche for me. It's a raw way of processing emotions where I normally struggle to otherwise.

We'll talk more about the details of the game another day. I'm excited for it, but words before hype always.
This is mainly about the post schedule.

I said recently that if I'm ever going to be open to something like a publisher, I'm going to have to learn to work in deadlines and time crunches first.
In the past, I've always avoided things like that so as to not stress myself out or put too much pressure, burn out, make the project worse, etcetcetc.
So, heel turn.
This plan was conceived more or less than the same day that I decided I'd be comfortable taking over this old house.
I've been excited to finally get it going... I'd planned to at the start of the month, actually, but we've been pulling like 8-10 hour housework days.
Finally in good shape. Finally installed air conditioning...
So, now I have room to push myself.

My goal is to get all of the writing for this game done within a year.
If I need to adjust that, I will. But that's the starting goal.
For now, I'm committing to writing a minimum amount of time each day. Starting 2 hours. We'll see about going more.

I also want to post each day again after working. Hi, this is the first post.
I think a lot of these posts will be touching base about how I'm doing in terms of the stress of writing and meeting that goal. I know it will be not-insignificant.
But we'll try it. Work diary or something.
At least for a month or so, and we'll see how it does.
If it doesn't work, it doesn't work and I'll nix it.
I don't want to burn myself out, but right now this feels like a fun change of pace from the perhaps too-gentle distance I've idled in.

Here goes something.

hi this is cass now
so it's kinda funny that this all has happened in the sequence of events that it has
this project came up in the aftermath of me telling starlight off and now i've also told my job off so we're both in the same place really
and so ame was like "you know you could just make a video game with me or smth" and now i'm just like UGH FINE since i don't have to pay rent anymore and do i really need a job if i'm not paying rent?
so y'know we're gonna do this now i guess
and maybe now i'll also be talking more? ame needs an editor and i can write stuff too sometimes i guess.
