2.4k words today.
kind of hate half of them, but that's what editing is for.
it has been... a tiring day.
this was another long house work day.
never done plumbing before.
or drilling.
kinda fucked both up.
cass had to rescue me.
we got it eventually.
but gods be damned if i am going to let circumstances break the new habit on day 2. nahh.
we both agree that we are done with big house projects for a bit.
we want to rest!!!
if i am going to keep a reliable pace and do daily posts again, i understand that resting and managing my energy effectively (and realistically) are going to be key factors in my success here.
this is in stark contrast to where i was the last time i tried to maintain daily posts, circa 2017, where it was just something i felt i had to do regardless of energy.
the fact that i can be more mindful of that now gives me a bit of optimism for being able to keep this up.
so, some initial comments about the project.
no demo.
no episodic releases.
this is meant to be a smaller scale project, but even if it were not... this isn't the sort of game that would work in that format, i think.
frankly, i don't even expect this to be the kind of game that can be replayed.
like, a mystery game. this isn't a mystery, but i figure it's the same kind of thing where once you Know it won't be the same experience.
but then i didnt think people would spend hundreds of hours replaying reborn, so what do i know.
someone mentioned accessibility for the project to me. yeah, text adventure is easy to make accessible.
but also, as i'm writing this, i'm really trying to de-emphasize the sense of sight as much as possible.
that's challenging. but it's a fun challenge.
incidentally, i had already been doing that even before we started going on hard on accessibility for reborn, and had way more blind players than i ever expected show up. hi guys, hope you're doing all right!
but de-emphasizing sight isn't for accessibility. i'll tell you what it's for tomorrow.
hi it's cass again
ame just kinda handed me this??? and idk what i'm supposed to do here.
i don't have anything game related to say. i haven't read any of the stuff. she just locks herself in a room for a few hours and then comes out and does this. that's about all i know.
also apparently ame just really likes breaking the house and idk what's up with that. she's just like drilling holes and breaking things and leaving us without water for the night unless i do something. plumber counts as a game dev position, right??? didn't that mario guy do something like that????
maybe once i regain the will to live i'll do something playable.
