why is it a new month already? she asks, as if there is a reason for that. i feel like i haven't done anything at all this month even though i understand why given the situation with my computer. i'm still getting back into the old rhythm of daily development life-- like ten hours some days, two hours other days.

i don't understand how i used to make episodes in like two months. god forbid one or even less. my standards for development have gone up, i guess. there's more things we're taking care of now than back then (AI, animations, online...) there's more game to have bug reports in it, and to be fixed up. cliffs are literally satan and didnt exist in the early game. buuuut idk. always feels too long even considering those things.

i always want to work more but i feel like i dont have the energy for it >~< i will figure this out............

we're pretty close though despite the dev blog's middling % numbers. i think it might catch the rest of the team off guard. marcello and i were talking the other day about how we'll probably have to downsize our AI goals for this episode because it'll be finished before AI will. we were originally planning to tackle all 372 function codes (a lot more than i thought there were.....) this episode but we've decided to just focus on the first 50-100 (which still accounts for the most common moves, so it's okay). that's still a lot of work though lol........

the falling block tube is stacked to the top, but the pieces are set for like 15x combo. just need some smart cards,
and probably a lot of caffeine.
unfortunately i dont drink caffeine.
so oops.

just take our energy too ~ don't bother yourself too much. you need motivation to work just like anybody else, but without the pressure of losing your job (which is so desirable tbh) you can take time to refresh whenever you want. maybe it could have been faster? but who is gonna judge that seriously. everybody loves the game for how much care and quality you put into it, even if it takes a long time. like I said after E16 - we are still here! it's awesome to see E17 approaching the finishing touches!! the despair train is coming I'm sure. also I'm sincerely aggravated by the mentioning of falling blocks one more time and I'm outta here like tuck fetris tbh Chiaki is best good night

What do the individual function codes do? Is there like a function hierarchy to it too?

Amethyst Liddell and Chasing Selene

function codes are the effect part of pokemon moves. so like. there's a function code for moves that burn, one for moves that flinch, one for moves that lower attack one stage and one for moves that do that and lower defense too, all the way down to the goddamn useless function code for fucking quash because who in their right mind is literally ever going to use quash dear lord save us all

Hiie! Non-forum user with a question: The percentage categories on the website, how fast are they, roughly, in correlation to each other? Is AI and mapping usually the bunk of the work? When you say it might be over soon I'm actually getting a bit scared - 17 out of 20 episodes, I don't know if my fragile heart can handle it. Take care!

Amethyst Liddell and Chasing Selene

Please brace your poor heart-- but I'm afraid there's only going to be 19 episodes in the first place. ...Anyway! Uh this is the first time AI has actually been a category of its own so it's hard to say about 'usually' but fortunately most of that work is being handled by Marcello anyway. As for the other ones "Misc Updates" is kind of a throwaway category representing other past work done like fixing bugs-- so it's kind of sporadic and will zip up quickly at the very end. Eventing is a little tedious but quicker in general; the thing that slows it down are puzzles. There's a few of those in this chapter but I've already done the hardest one. Story is usually the quickest. It gets slowed down by branching stories which this episode has, but that still can go pretty fast. .....So basically Mapping is the demon that takes forever.
