Our new composer friend sent me an update on this other day based on the feedback I had given him from before. compared to the previous version I think this one is a lot more balanced out over all (as I also gave him the ok to take a few more creative liberties with it (and I'm glad I did)).

At any rate, I want to address a couple comments from last time in the way of the dubstep not feeling like it fits into Reborn:
Firstly, the initial drops in the previous version were very extreme, I think. They fit into this version much more cleanly. Despite that it does still have a different dubstep element.
For me, this is a good thing. There are two reasons: The first is that I think that kind of music is associated with conceptual distortion, and Reborn has that in spades given that Reborn City is, in many ways, a perversion of its own past. I also think of the distortion as Meteor's condfounding element in story. Imagine that first drop being the destruction of Grandview Station.
The second is that Glitch uses a lot of dubstep elements in her remixes that my city songs do not use. I see this theme as a chance to tie these two distinct halves of the game's music together and make it more cohesive over all.
For those reasons I personally would prefer to keep that aspect. Of course, let me know if you disagree with that take still.

It should be noted that although it's come a good distance the song above is still not a finished project-- he said something like 70%. I have a few points to request of him such as boosting the low end and kick especially and smoothing out some of the piano timing but before I go ahead and message him back I wanna know if you all have any thoughts to impart too.

I simply can't bring myself to associate this with Reborn in any way. It simply has completely different feeling than the original Glitch music I like. And never mind Reborn association I don't like this new music at all. The mixing of the original song I like and the new elements I really dislike doesn't work imo. If you like the direction then go with it but I'm 100% sure that I'll replace it with the old version for myself.

Personally, I think this fits with Reborn quite well. Others may not agree with me but maybe its because i've played through the game countless times. Whenever i think of Reborn one of the first things that comes to mind is Dubstep, probably due to me listening to the games music hundreds upon hundreds of times.

I personally like it. It starts off slow, signaling to the player that while they're playing a Pokemon game, it's melodic and dark enough to give the impression that this will be a unique fangame. Than the dubstep kicks in and you suddenly get the sense that this isn't anything akin to what you've played before. The rest of the song fits with the desolate vibe the overall game has while the dubstep/electronic chaosity of the song gives the image of the player marching through all the Meteor locations, taking them down one at a time. Is it a bit different? Sure, but I think it fits.

As a heads up my favorite song in the entire game (that isn't one of glitches) is the Beryl ward. I FREAKING LOVE that song, so my bias will lean towards that. That said, overall I like it. Compared to the previous version: I miss the piano solo at 1:03. See my bias again. I mentioned before that (IMO) it needs a sense of urgency, but I like having at least a minor piece of simplicity. I know the song starts with it, but it's not the same as having it drop off in the middle. This does happen at 0:48, I just wish it was that piano solo, I think the length of time for this lull is perfect. I also think the melody the piano plays should be a little more prevalent simply because it is the theme. It IS Reborn. I know I said that I like the asymmetric aspect of the piano and the beats (in the beginning of the song). I still do, but some of the asymmetry is coming off mid-beat which is off-putting. I know that I don't know how to say this entirely properly. But suppose there is a distinct "1 . 2 . 3 . 4 ." beat, it should drop off on one of those beats (123, or 4) or half-beats (the .'s), but instead it drops off somewhere between both of those... Again, I don't know how to word it, but if that makes sense to you, congratz! Lastly, I know this isn't "finished" but how is it going to end? Not that the way it ends is bad, I do like it; but I think you could also have it end on a really cacaphonous note, and just instantly stop. There is a hint of build up currently, you could have it continue to build up and then just cut out. At the very least, I think a draft of the song should be made like that for comparison. It would help to send the message that you are being dropped off in the middle of these extremists plans, and currently the city is in chaos. A better example would be to play this song, and then pause it at the 1:31. That's the kind of feeling I'm trying to explain. In summary, I miss the piano solo at 1:02 (from previous), and while I know that's personal bias, I think it is at its heart Reborn's theme and should be a little more prevalent. Some timing needs to be reworked, but I do like that aspect. I would try a draft with a more built up, then dropped off, ending. Not because the ending is bad, but just to compare at the very least.

I like it. The old main title music will forever be missed (RIP) but I don't mind the dubstep direction at all, as long as it doesn't sacrifice the eerie feel and melody. Which it doesn't! I'm eager to listen to the finished project. Btw, I second G. Nelson about the missing piano solo. Other than that, it sounds good =)

I like the beginning of this second version better, but I like the first version better from 1:00 on(piano music, melody line). Certainly enjoyable, but I lost sight of the theme halfway through this second version. I think the dubstep addition is great.

I agree with Murray. I would say thee fade out at the end should be drawn out a bit more, like maybe the last 8 seconds instead of 4. It would heighten the suspenseful feeling it leaves. I thiink the switch around the 20 second mark should be moved up to wound the 15 second mark as the piano plays too long before the juicy bits of the song. Maybe an undertone leading up to the shift as well since it seems like a quick shift. I do like the song overall and will be happy with whatever comes out of it.

Amethyst Liddell and Chasing Selene

taking more time at the start was actually something i deliberately asked for, the reason being that this is going to play on start up every time the game is opened so i didnt want the opening to be especially harsh. it's possible 20s is still too long.... but i think that actually works better on the second loop for people who do choose to keep listening to it

Amethyst Liddell and Chasing Selene

the build-up to harsh drop is exactly what i'm going for for the ending! i think the fade here is really interrupting that so i'll asl for that ot be changed. i'll also ask about the piano solo since that seems to be a popular opinion as for the assymetrical part.....i think i get it? we're going to pretend i do. it was something i was already planning on mention too-- if i am understanding right. i mean. i'm totally understanding right. yeah definitely...
