hello good morning so those of you who have paid close attention to the dev blog for some reason may have noticed progress suddenly jump up like 5% this is because i basically did nothing yesterday but work on the game and in that time i pretty much finished the bulk of the episode's story

still a little more to do but

heavy lifting is over

and i am bushed.
so low effort post this morning:

i was thinking, as i was working on things yesterday, that i don't actually have any mental conception of how many people made which decision at several key points in the game. it won't really matter but i'd like to know for my own curiosity's sake
(as im thinking about it might be interesting to do a public poll of this later too and see how y'alls answers compare to non-patrons... but eeeeh.)

anyway, there are a few pairs of options below-- please choose the ones that suit whatever you would consider your 'main' save file/playthrough, or whatever you did the first time playing.

i'll be back tomorrow with an all new scooby doo at 4pm/3pm central. until then, tell me your secrets

I thought only Saphira and Laura could be captured lol. I had absolutely no idea before now that the twins or Charlotte/Shelly could be captured. Makes me wonder what happens if it's them.

The difference happens based on if you fight Sigmund or Sirius at Belrose.

So I don't remember the exact situation at the belrose mansion it's been so long. All I remember is that I did what was expected of me. I did what the plan was. Can someone remind me what the result of that was? I think it meant the twins were captured, but I don't remember. In the long run, anything that made Titania hate me less is what I ended up doing. Which is super aggravating because of that one point that was unavoidable Ame *hint hint* has that been fixed yet, or is it in this forthcoming episode? That said, the only exception was the WTC. Sirius has already proven he is willing to kill subordinates, I figured I'd give Taka a break.

In regards to the Belrose mansion and who gets captured, if it's anyone but Sapphira, nothing really changes dialogue wise. You and Sapphira team up to take down the Meteor Base, rescue the twins/Laura/Shelly+Charlotte, and get teleported into the Steelix cave. The only difference if when Sapphira gets captured, in which case you team up with Laura, who puts the grunts that Sapphira would have outright killed to sleep instead. The dialogue's a little bit different but, when you reach the cave, Sapphira breaks herself out because of course she does and then, in the Abra room, both you and Laura get teleported to the Steelix cave. In the cave, there's a little bit more dialogue where you learn that Lin reminds Laura of a kid at the orphanage who was also called Lin. This child Lin used to torment her because of Laura's OCD. However, one day she pulled a fast one on the Doctor and she was never seen again - presumed having died from the Doctor's 'treatments' by the other children. The thing is, Laura explains that Lin was younger than the twins and as such doesn't know who the adult Lin is. That's the major difference between that sequence at the Belrose mansion.

So if memories serves, on my main playthrough, I defeated Solaris' Garchomp by lowering its accuracy so that it would miss my Dusclops, use Curse, and then stall the thing out. For the Belrose sequence, it seems I'm the only one who typically fights Sirius at the HQ, resulting in my fighting Sigmund at the mansion. However, after that, I block Sirius so I'm often rescuing Charlotte+Shelly. Kind of a shame, because I really like the teamup with Laura sequence (Which, IIRC, is the official 'canon' route?) I also always rescue the officers because fuck Corey; refuse to give Blake the ring because fuck Blake; side with Radomus because fuck Elias; and fight Taka because fuck Solaris

I stopped my playthrough before getting to Agate, so haven't faced those last two decisions yet. I know I beat Garchomp, because I was fucking determined. I honestly don't even remember how at this point. I think there were some Air Balloon/Fairy shenanigans or something, idk. I know I outed Corey, because I remember his Crobat being walled by a Klink. I know I sided with Radomus, because fuck Elias (to quote Eric). I can't remember the exact config for my Belrose one though. I know that I ended up going in with Laura, but I can't remember who was captured.

Tbh it never bothered me too much to lose to Solaris' Garchomp on Pyrous Mt. That's pretty much what is supposed to happen; you're a mid-level trainer trying to stop the former boss of the most ruthless criminal organization of the pokéworld. Being obliterated by him makes sense and builds the threat Meteor represents (which is great because at this point in the game the player scored nothing but victories against them). I always fight Sigmund alongside Cain at Yureyu (just walking past Heather would be very weird) and tend to consider that Laura, an E4, doesn't need my help as much as Charlotte and Shelly at Belrose, which results in the twins getting captured. I side with Radomus because honestly who prefers siding with El, out Corey in front of Heather because again not gonna just walk past the detained cops, give Blake the ring freely because if I don't it upsets too-cute-too-precious-for-this-world-Shelly, and I fought Taka at WTC because I couldn't care less about what Titania thinks.

You didn't ask, but I defeated the Arceus!Ditto :D I lost the first time and restarted without realising that I didn't have to win. But the plan I made worked :> (and involved lots of revives and sturdy) edit: sorry, was inaccurate. I actually had to restart because I sided with Radomus but I later read that you didn't have to win so I guess I had altered the memory of restarting before seeing the outcome

1) did not find all the officers quick enough in first playthrough cuz who expected that to be story relevant :P did so in the second playthrough (still without knowing), surpriiiiiise oops that scene was different last time right? 2) did not beat Garchomp cuz... wtf it's lvl 75, I'm new to this game why 2.1) will refuse to beat it in any playthrough for authenticity 3) Laura gets captured. figured that as an Elite Four she'd be stronger than this. welp. turned out she's not even 8/10. 4) sided with Radomus. he cool, chess grandmaster and a man of style. that didn't matter though, because who would side with Meteor anyway 5) did not give Blake the ring. Shelly needs to step up, thought she made tremendous steps in her personality already at that point. 6) fought Taka in the WTC. I place my hope in him to end this and make his own fate and therefore am glad to be a stepping stone for him to be a stepping stone for everything

I remember that the Garchomp win was like the holy grail of challenges, and then along came destiny bond and focus sash. Yeah too bad no one acknowledges it as a win for you.
