hi, loves. i don't have much progress to report here today since the stream, but i continue to feel bad about not posting as regularly, so some updates:
stream on saturday was awesome, by the way, we got through the entire railnet puzzle as planned* and decided on a bunch of other sidequest stuff involving the basement of the grand hall and the city renovations (possible next stream??), and then played some more of the poison mono afterwards just cuz we could. altogether i was streaming for more than twelve hours, and it was a lot of fun. i'm thinking i want to stream more often, even if it's not development stuff, but i'll probably get back into doing that on twitch and keep patron streams a weekly thing since these are planned in advance
* we did everything except the dialogue, which i was able to finish the following morning. i find it's really difficult to get into a good mindset to write dialogue around other people at all, let alone on stream. possibly i challenge his in the future.
for now, the above issue is actually what's holding up development. as y'all know, i'm working on story stuff, which means... lots of dialogue. and unfortunately, things have been kinda hectic here at home. hectic means family, and family means nobody is happy. i've been doing my best to attend to the people here and keep things together but that hasn't left me with much time for myself or to focus on development. in fact, i've intended to post here for the last couple days and i didn't even have the time or focus for that, and that has me stressed the h-e-double-hecky-sticks out.
to my credit, most of my spare time the last few days has been spent on the site. we did a large update from a fresh install to try and fix the recurring sporadic issues (i.e, inconsistent quote, looping threads, etc) on the forum. not only did the fresh install not fix it, it broke some other stuff. so i've been having an adventure with Support. i'm almost back to the point of functionality we were at pre-update but that doesn't solve the main issues and so i cry deeply and wonder what to even do at this point.
the community has also been more of a focus for the past few days too... and i think that's going better. when i was younger it always struck me as weird how community admins were inactive on their sites, but i've been guilty of that myself for a while and i'm so not satisfied with that.
and then there's poison mono. i ended the stream at some point before going through serra's gym, and it turns out that was a good decision. mirror field is a mess right now-- any AI pokemon that gets an evasion boost doesn't know what to do with it and takes no action >~< so i skipped through that part and took note, got to noel with relatively little problem (ok, PULSE Abra was a pain because it's not hyper beaming reliably enough-- have to tweak AI for that more...). the good thing about noel on a poison mono is can just corrupt his whole fiel-- loljk he takes no action on corrosive field.
i've investigated and both of these issues are a result of the Ability Disruption method we implemented recently. i'm sure it's just a field-specific type on each case, so i'll have marcello take a look at it. however, he's mid-exams right now so it may be some time before he's able to. ...so poison mono comes to a stand-still as well.
and on top of all of this-- or rather, as a result of it-- my somatic pain has also spiked up today as a result of this stress. soooo probably i'm just going to have to accept myself sitting down, shutting up, and taking it slow for a little while while all this mess at home gets sorted out.
so it's not really my intention to make a post complaining about all the stuff slowing development down... but i would definitely rather be upfront with y'all about the #strugglebuggle that's up right now than just not post at all. like i am so, so aware i still have the rest of the scrapyard thing to post and i just have not been able to yet. it is not forgotten.
neither are you.
i'm grinning and bearing, i hope you can do one of those things.
thanks for everything dears.
