so in a plot twist that surprised even me, we suddenly have a functioning battle tower mechanic. it's not actually going to be a tower. if you expect it to be a tower, you're going to be disappointed. but we're going to continue calling it the battle tower for clarity and to make sure you're as confused as possible

i hadn't looked at how the battle tower stuff works at all in the uhh seven years i've been working this game so we finally did and what we learned is that essentials is really bad and the default implementation of the battle tower scripts doesn't have a way to set either the form or ability of a pokemon. because those things toooootally don't matter, riiiight
anyway cass fixed that.

we also looked at the default list of pokemon essentials includes for the battle tower to pick from and uh
well, it sucks.
the battle tower pokemon appear to be directly ripped from gen 3. so no physical/special split. no choice items. no new moves. it's. garbage.

so! it's time to redo everything. aaaaand it's a lot! (also hi it's cass now. ame doesn't know what to words for this bit.) so please help me. i've done like 800 pokemon for theme teams and stuff and i can't do another 8000 for this.

so let's say you wanna help!

First! Here's the working document for it.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/13Fi7Aizb27mQ3zdesnO9N9BGqHJaE3BDv5hSrMyUFM4/edit?usp=sharing
It is shareable by link! That way you all can edit it. Please keep it among yourselves. The basic syntax for the entries is listed on the document, but if you have any questions, ame and I are just a DM away.

Second! Putting in the pokemon! You might be wondering what to enter in. So here's some examples!

This is some stuff I wrote up for absol. They've got different items and focuses and stuff. Absol has a pretty wide moveset so it can have a lot of different builds. You can go really crazy with sets, though- anything that poses a reasonable threat in battle is acceptable. Want to run a physical aurorus? Sure! That can work.
Want to run variations of probopass? Go for it!
Reeeeally wanna have a choice band head smash corsola set? It's already in.
It's also worth noting that field effects Exist and are Random. They might help, they might not, who knows. It'd be best to not design pokemon around a specific field.
Stuff from the google doc will be run by me and put into the main PBS file. I'll mark the doc when a line is in.
If you're like "well, this set is technically different than the other sets, but it's still basically the same" then i'll have you know that base essentials had 10 different versions of tyranitar in it. before choice items. before megas. before assault vests. before z-moves. with pre gen4 movesets.
you have options.

Third! Things that can't really work quite yet but maybe later:
No PULSE! Pulse is Cancelled. pls no. i know i said "maybe later" literally right above this but no.
No megas! There's just not really a way to implement them quite yet so that the rando team only picks one of them.
No Z-moves! same reason.

and, uh, i think that's all i got. thank you in advance for helping. i did not realize that there were 10 tyranitars already in base essentials and you will help rescue me from having to add in an extra 50 all by myself. big mcthankies from mcspanky's.

Sorry if this has been answered and I just haven't been paying attention, but do the numbers for the ability syntax correspond to the order abilities are listed on sites like Bulbapedia and Serebii?

Porge

e.g. Togekiss's Bulbapedia page lists Hustle, then Serene Grace, and finally its hidden ability Super Luck. Would the number codes be 0, 1, and 2 for these abilities, respectively?

Some really strange sets in the document. Whats the point of having Sheer Cold, Fissure AND Horn Drill on one Pokemon?
