you'd think most games would start with their protagonist. but no. not us. determined to do things as ass-backwards as possible, we've only finished art for our main protagonist after releasing an entire demo.

she did appear in the end of it, in tiny OW form that's being updated, we can deal with that later, but here is our actual main character. star is up there, but she has to share the stage. it's like an alm/celica deal, you feel?

....anyway, there's no point in doing a dramatic build up here, because i already made it the profile icon in several places. part branding, part impatience because i really like her and the way her art's turned out.

the last time we talked much about her was in early 2017! i am so glad to finally be getting usable art of her in and together! but for those of you who weren't around back then, we can talk quick details.

her name is Aulyra of Ataraxia! she's a respectable young angel living with just her sister in a ruined-and-rebuilding community on heaven's western coast. like most jRPG protagonists, she lost her parents and memory in a traumatic incident, but unlike those protagonists she's not about to brood on it or take it as a call to action! instead, ever since then she's become more diligent and studious than ever before, wanting only to fit in and contribute to her community and hoping, more than anything else, that she can one day earn her wings.
it will surely go well!

her design underwent some changes since we last saw her, but we'll save that for a future post solely because i am not emotionally prepared for that right now.

of more immediate note, we are once again streaming Reborn on twitch at 5p EST tomorrow! come hang out!

and of less immediate but more important note...
....okay, so i've spent a not-insignificant part of the last week drawing tiles for our first map. and granted, we don't need nearly as many maps in starlight as we needed for reborn because it's not so much an exploration based game..............
............but still, a girl can only draw so many tiles before she has to rethink her life choices. i am choosing to learn from my mistakes with reborn.

i am going to need help with this.

so, if anyone out there in the great world beyond would like to assist with tiles and environmental art, and maybe flit about to some other stuff, shoot me a message. of note, unlike reborn, tiles for starlight are more a matter of digital drawing and art rather than pixels. of course, comfort with pixels always helps too. if you're not super comfortable with digital art but have the time and energy to commit to learning, that could be okay too.

as always, thanks for being here, and i hope to see you at stream tomorrow!

(PS starlight dev streams soon)
