when Fire Emblem Fates came around and introduced Personal Skills to units, i was both excited and disappointed. i was glad that it had taken a positive step in characterizing and actualizing characterization in gameplay, but it also meant I wouldn't be the first one to implement that idea, which I had already planned for Starlight Divide.

We'll still have those though, of course.

Also as relevant to Fire Emblems Fates and Awakenings, the generation system has become a pretty prominent and pretty popular part of the franchise. However, that is not appropriate for every game, least of all Starlight (and frankly neither for Fates-- don't get me started on this Deeprealm nonsense)

I wanted to figure out a system that could bring the same value to Supports, without having to messily-create time warps and other characters for it. Therefore, I came up with Bond Skills.

Bond Skills are an ability unique to each character that they themselves do not benefit from. Instead, they give this ability to their partner when hitting the max support rank. My hope is to create different builds and playstyles between different characters and playthroughs, and supports/bond skills will be one part of those variations.

This is about the last of the necessary background information, I think, for me to be able to post some character profiles, so we'll get to those next!
