I think Mikey’s cross-faded and coked-up rant to Richie was more more projection like, Sam said. Also perhaps trying to make Richie hate him in a odd way so Mikey’s suicide doesn’t hurt as much. Which makes Richie looking back on this day very fondly all the more tragic and somber.

Mikey committed suicide by shooting himself in the head on a bridge in February 2022, about four months before the pilot episode takes place. This episode takes place in January 2019, about three years before Mikey's suicide. And even though she was born the day after this episode took place in early 2019 (Richie told Nat the story of this trip in S3E7 and said Eva was born the day after the trip), Eva Jerimovich turns 8 years old in the series finale, which takes place sometime in late 2023 (Tiff's wedding happened in September 2023, a few months before the finale)... because like Carmy, apparently show creator Christopher Storer is really bad at math.
