I wanna thank the React Pact community and the ladies for such a fun and engaging experience this season. I’ve been going through some personal things with my family and changes in my life that I won’t bore anyone with but I did want to express my thoughts to keep my head busy so bear with me. While to me it was better than season 2, it still felt short of my expectations from what I’ve seen and heard on the book, nevertheless it was really nice to have conversations and discussions with everyone here, hearing the theories and thoughts made watching the show 100 times better. Even if we all didn’t agree on everything, it was all still a very respectful and engaging experience nonetheless from what I saw at least. I say all that cause it’s been a while since I was genuinely engaged in a show and community and while it’s at a bit of a dark time in my life, I still found myself enjoying watching the reactions and seeing the interactions more. Here’s to hoping they land this in the final season, these last 2 episodes have been the best since the first three of this season imo. Thanks again to Sam, Dani and Morgan for making this show and every show better, I’m grateful from the bottom of my heart.

What is everyone’s opinion on how the show has portrayed rhaenyra up to this point? I’m not a book expert so I mostly have the show to follow so my opinion is still not entirely formed yet I did think Emma did a fantastic job with her character. But I’m still confused, last episode she seemed to have gotten even closer to Mysaria then an episode later she sends her away… the writing doesn’t really make sense with just how quickly she made the decision even if it makes sense on the whole, as her mistress of whisperers she didn’t do anything of note this season and was constantly trying to make the queen distance herself from her best weapon daemon which as a strategy is the dumbest thing her character was focused on.

The bromance between daemon, Tully and Roddy was the best thing from this entire season, also that badass woman with the bow I wish we saw more off too. If I could just switch out the screen time from aemonds mommy side quest and alicents nonsensical decisions and road trip to give it to the men of the north and of riverrun, I would have definitely enjoyed this season a lot more.

Emma is fantastic and To keep from writing a novel length reply 😅😅As a book reader, the series definitely turned down Rhaenyra’s more dubious qualities. I personally enjoying the energy she’s on now as it’s more accurate to the character.

I think I’m just being biased in my uninterest with alicent so that’s probably just me talking and with Aemond specifically I just wish we had seen more of him outside of the castle, just felt like the pace of the story would take a massive hit each time we went there, not an issue with the character himself just wish we who’ve gotten more time with some of my favorites. Maybe if they had given us 10 episodes instead it would have felt more complete but that’s just me

Agreed she did amazing, I don’t get why some people hate her performance when she killed it imo. Also do you think she’s being directed to be a more blood thirsty person by blind anger or more because she finds it the most necessary thing to do? I’ve seen both opinions online so curious what you think.

Alicent has been a favorite of mine since the start, so maybe my bias is talking as well. Same with Aemond, but to totally understand about wanting to see him more active. Fully agree about this season needing ten episodes. I think the series itself need that.

Alicent is not even a bad character and Olivia has done a fantastic job with her, I think it’s mostly the writing for her that has soured me and yeahhh HBO has to fix this episode count, from my limited understanding there’s a lot left to cover and I don’t see how they do it justice with another 8 episodes 😭

Emma D’Arcy is brilliant, haters are going to hate, especially when you’re great. I think it might be both things effecting Rhaenyra. Both are feasible.

I think there's really no character in the right in this show. Which only makes it more interesting to watch. She is definitely leaning on the side of violence, since that's why she sent Myseria away (cuz Myseria counseled her to be more like Viserys). I just think she wants the throne too much. At the end of her speech, she spoke in High Valyrian "I AM THE PRINCE THAT WAS PROMISED" even though nobody knew the language in that crowd. Which means that was her trying to convince herself that she was the chosen one in the prophecy. I recall in the beginning, Rhaenyra wished to spare the people the war and give up the prophecy. But then she decided to fight for it instead. I think she lost her way since then. Now caring more about sitting on the throne rather than ruling. Anyone who wants the throne this much is always dangerous.

The Aegon and Aemond scene was by far my favorite in the episode. Definitely wish we got more scenes of them through out the series. And while I knew it was coming, Helaena broke my heart. She didn’t deserve any of the suffering brought upon her.

I’m so sorry in what you’ve had to go through bro. While I don’t agree on all your thoughts on the season, you’ve definitely brought up some valid points on this seasons’ reactions and it’s always cool seeing the community engage with the show like this. I hope things get better for you 🙏🏿

Emma has been killing it performance wise, with their performance they’ve carried the parts of Rhaenyra’s arc that have been let down by the writing. I’ve read F&B and while I can say many of the social media complaints are overblown, the show still has dropped the ball with Rhaenyra’s character (and Alicent’s) mainly due to a lack of proactiveness on both sides. I think S3 has done a lot to improve on S2’s deficiencies in regard to her arc but some of the damage is done and it’s too late to erase it.

I’ll be honest, similarly to Daemon’s S2 Harrenhal arc, Aemond’s arc this season dragged but the books really don’t give much to work with. Fire and Blood isn’t a normal book it’s a historical record with minimal narrative in regards to character development. I’m not a writer so I’m not sure off the top of my head what they could’ve done better but for sure what we got wasn’t great. If anything I wish they would’ve shown more of his torment like having him be haunted by Luke and Rhaenys as well as Aegon.

I love how people are so disarmed by people like Ulf, ignoring his clear alcoholism and deep insecurity. He’ll do whatever is necessary to feel big because of how small he’s felt his entire life. Of course he’s had issues but he’s now an adult and done nothing to address them. Just a horrible person disguised as a good time

S3 had some ups and downs. Harrenhal is literally just a time out zone they seem to place characters in. I’m perplexed they doubled down when everyone hated how long we spent there in S2

They separated so much from Haeleana's relationship with Dreamfyre, they didn't even bother to include that when she dies, Dreamfyre Roars so loudly it shakes the red keep and if I remember correctly, collapses part of the dragon pit :(

Who hasn’t been mistreated in this series. He’s a specific type of person I can’t stand. Someone who presents as a person who just loves his mates and wants to drink and be at peace. When in reality, he craves attention and power but is too stupid and lazy to acquire it with any sort of will or cunning. It’s exactly what happens when all those “if only I won the lottery people” actually win and blow it. Thank you HOTD for highlighting villains like this.
