Chapter 5 Reboot, Page 2 (Patreon)

Into the pages of Chapter 5! First of all, hello new members! I just hit 120 members which is super exciting, thank you thank you!

I really liked working on the original black and white page for this, but converting it to color meant I lost some of the effects from the original. Anyway, here's the process!

I liked how the broom cut into the panel with Lamia at the bottom of the original, but that didn't quite work as well in color. I ended up redrawing "broom girl" even though I thought this would be a direct trace.

Lineart! Redrew broom girl's hands and legs but most everything else was the same, I guess.

Silhouettes!

Flat colors! I originally intended for the floor to extend into the bottom panel. Maybe it would have actually looked better that way, maybe I should have kept it in, haha.

Shadows!

Gradations and highlights!

Patterns and textures! You'll see I forgot a few here and had to fix it later. I actually didn't notice some mistakes until I was updating this patreon post, haha.

Dialogue and sound effects! And some corrections, but still not all, heh.

The final image is the one up top. But hey, I still got this done before the weekend! I was certain I would be working on this instead of playing Civilization VII this weekend but I somehow got everything from the shadows stage to the end done in just one work day. Not bad, probably helps that only one panel really had anything resembling a background.
