Chapter 1 Reboot, Page 13 (For ALL Patrons) (Patreon)
Content
Hey, everyone! It's the last day of the year... I was sick through Christmas and didn't get to do much then, but at least I was able to make my page goal for December. Now I can take a few days off and enjoy the weekend with my family. We're still recovering so no major plans, but we did want to take my little girl to see Christmas lights while they are still up (last chance!).
I decided to go ahead and make this post available for ALL patrons, since it is the last post of the year. If you are in the $1 Tier, thank you for your contributions! This is the sort of post I now regularly post in the $2 Tier, so please enjoy! This page is relatively simple, but we're getting close to pages that will feature some of the other characters, and where a major change in the original story will take place.
In January I am shooting for a minimum of eight completed pages, but my real goal is ten pages. Lots of January birthdays in my family, though, so we'll see. I also plan on livestreaming a bit, but it kind of depends on when I can have the house to myself to do it and when I get to scenes where Arma isn't "naked." Which is actually coming up (another change from the original version).
I hope you have a great New Year, and I'll see you all again in 2023! Thanks to everyone for your support. I'm so glad I'm able to have content regularly posted again!
Behind The Scenes
Here's a panel from the b/w version I placed on this page with a sketch for the brand new panel, which would feature Munchkin and all her crazy curls.
I sketched Munchkin. My sketches are usually pretty rough, haha.
I inked her using the sketch as a base and using several separate layers for each part of the drawing. It helps keep things from getting too confusing.
I inked the bottom panel and I added the dialogue balloons. I tried something new with the bottom balloon. Trying to keep it American-ized but still expressive (because I don't think American comic balloons are as expressive as Japanese balloons).
Silhouettes. Saves me a lot of time in the flatting stages. I also added some speed lines at the bottom.
Flat colors and I added a possible background for Munchkin.
Added shadows and played around with the background a bit more. I also added some color to the shadows instead of keeping them the same color.
Added the background on the bottom (I will absolutely use digital to my advantage and recycle backgrounds when I can, because as a webcomic I want to be able to get pages out faster than I did previously. Saving time is a big goal of mine!). Did color gradations and added shadows and effects on the bottom panel.
Added blush, a glow around Munchkin, and some other things. I thought I was done, but then I realized I forgot the holes in the lace hemming of Munchkin's dress.
Okay, now I'm done ;D
Happy New Year's Eve to you all!
