I’m not irritated about the question being asked, just trying to give a direct and truthful answer so it may sound blunt. Please don’t read it in a negative tone, that’s not intended, I promise.

    Q: Will ASA be returning?

A: Let me find my footing first. I’m really enjoying Habitat 7 and have finally rebuilt some inspiration and motivation. My goal is to get to a point where I can comfortably write 3 chapters of H7 weekly. Once that rhythm is stable, I’ll start trying to work in a Summoner chapter once a month—maybe more if I can return to my 2021-2022 writing pace without hurting the quality of the product.

I actually have about half of Chapter 2 done, but right now I just add to it when I feel inspired. It’s not the primary focus yet.

As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some health issues and have made some major lifestyle changes. One of those changes is that I’m going back to school full-time. What you receive depends entirely on my productivity and mental bandwidth between classes and family. I’m hoping the “college mindset” helps me become more disciplined with my schedule.

To maintain transparency and give you a peek behind the curtain: Yesterday I only managed 450 words because of errands and kid-duty. Monday 1,800. Sunday 1,000. Saturday nothing. But Friday? I hit 2,800 words—the most I’ve done in a single day since late 2023. It’s not perfectly consistent yet, but I am touching the keyboard almost daily. Including Friday, I hit over 2,000 twice last week.

Again, when/if I can develop the consistency to deliver stable, scheduled releases of Habitat 7, I’ll try to work in ‘surprise’ chapters of Summoner. I want it finished just as much as you do, but I won’t force it.

If I don’t enjoy writing it, you won’t enjoy reading it.

Really great to hear your back to school ihope that is all going well. I’ve read a bit of Habitat that you sent out and it looks good. 2 questions if you don’t mind is this going to be a series if so how many and when you get back to ASA in the future did you have a plan for how many there will be in that series. Yep I’m trying to plan my reading/listening I have way to many books on the go at the moment

    Great questions.

I have a problem with being ridiculously ambitious, lol. I fully intend on Habitat 7 being a long-running Epic. My vision right now has 12 books in a 4 trilogy format, each trilogy expanding the scale of the series with several themes; Kingdom-Building, Exploration, War and Logistics, Stabilizing the Planet.

    1st trilogy - The Habitat
2nd trilogy - The World Below
3rd trilogy - War Over Resources
4th trilogy - Combatting the World

Summoner was originally designed for 8 books, but I believe, as long as the books are meaty enough, that I’ll be able to close the series in a full, 5-book package without fluff or padding wordcount.

I’ve enjoyed reading everything you’ve written so far I’m glad you’re back in school. I hope things with your kids have settled down now that they’re a tad older.

I look forward to anything you write in the future your asa series was one of the book series that me and my son both enjoyed

Whenever you finish book 3, whether it’s next year or the year after that, I’ll buy it and I’ll probably like it quality over quantity life and responsibilities over writing a book series that I really enjoyed I hope you’re doing well in school. Hope you have the time to continue writing I’ve enjoyed. Both of the books have bought from you. And enjoy the beginnings of the other two book of yours, I’ve read

Thank you. I’m actually on a call with my co-author as I was reading this and we’re revising our outline for the rest of the series! We hope to begin posting chapters for book 3 here in the next couple of months

I just re-listened to book 1 and 2 again just to catch myself back up in case new chapter started this fall
I remembered really liking the books but after listening to them again I was surprised just how much I liked them sound booth theater I think is who did the audio and they did a really good job bringing the book to life looking forward to book 3 sometime in the future

I was surprised just how good the secondary characters dialogue really is I read or listen to so many books. That the only good dialogue is what the main character says, or the inner monologue of the main character. I forgot just how good the dialogue from the secondary characters between each other and the main character really was in this series.

As of this moment, we’re aiming to start releasing chapters again on the 26th. Just one a week for now while we try to build up some backlog

Just curious, any new updates on potential chapters being dropped soon for any of your series?

Does anyone know if Patreon Live has a screenshare feature? Couldn’t find one. I’ll hop back to Discord for now while I try to set up OBS/Twitch

Fraid I’m not sure but I’m p certain OBS can act like a virtual camera if necessary if patreon is easier than twitch

So we had one Patreon and one Discord live last week, on Tuesday and Thursday. I’ll hop on Patreon again this afternoon starting around 5 or 6 EST

Are you writing summoner chapters now? Will you need releasing them soon?

We are, and it’s what we’ve been working on during the lives. Getting back into it is slow going, since we’ve been rereading and studying old material, spreadsheets, and notes to make sure we remain consistent as we push forward.

I expect staggered releases on the first few chapters–we’re 1200 ready-to-post words into chapter 1 at the moment–and once we find our groove, clear the transition between books 2 and 3, and start getting into the main plot, hopefully we’ll fall into a more stable routine

    Copy/Pasted from a response to a comment. Current goals and goings-on;

Thank you. The care and support shown across the community, be it from fellow authors or readers, has been moving. Here’s to getting back in top form and giving y’all some content you can enjoy!

As far as that goes, I’m actively working on it. Not as fast as I’d like–when is it ever–but Jacopo and I are getting back in the swing of things. Like in the video above, along with our previous lives, we’ve been doing a good deal of the prepwork and rereading of existing material, notes, and spreadsheets to make sure the story remains consistent and entertaining.

Fated Bonds (by Morgana Cross): I have until Labor Day-the 7th-to get the editing for my wife’s book 1 finished and off to her publisher, so that’s my current priority.

H7 (by Larry Cross, aka, me): Habitat Seven book 1 is due in November, with no specific date for turn-in, so that’s going to be priority one after getting Morgana’s book 1 finished. I’m easing back into the work now, but once I get ramped up again I’m hoping to alternate 2 chaps of H7 per 1 chap of Summoner.

ASA3 (by Kerberos, aka, Larry Cross and Entrail_JI): Since it’s been so long and expectations are bleak, we don’t have a specific turn-in date for Summoner, so we’ve set our own. Originally, we were tentatively aiming to have the first draft ready for our editor sometime between December and February. However, that was when we were going to follow our 3 ARC structure. Since we’ve now planned this book for 4 ARCs to both make up for the shorter book 2 and to ensure that all necessary pieces of the story are available, we’ve inadvertantly added another one to two months to our timeline. Of course, we believe that this expansion will lead to a better book 3 as well as a more satisfying series overall.

You know, I didn’t realize folks actually received alerts for me yapping in here. Now that I know, I suppose I’ll use this for updates instead of Quips.

That said, I’ll be pushing back today’s stream to tomorrow. It’s getting a bit late and it’s a school night for us. Also, with him being in Italy, it’s already 1 in the AM for Jacopo. I’ll convene with him after taking the kids to school in the morning and see if we can get something going between lunch and 3 EST, give or take, if he’s done with his WebNovel stuff. Sorry for the inconvenience; I know that’s the middle of the day for a lot of us Stateside. Feel free to pop in on your lunch breaks if you wanna take a gander or ask any questions. Be sure to let us know you’re on a time limit if you are on lunch so that we can try and answer promptly. For those who miss it or prefer a less linear listen, streams will continue to be available as podcasts through Spotify within 48 hours after the lives end.

As for why we’re missing today, that’s my fault, of course. I’ve spent the last couple of hours playing around with Restream instead of OBS. The switch should take care of a few of the issues we were having. Since it’s in browser, my poor little tablet shouldn’t have such a difficult time running it, Jacopo, Awespec, my wife, and other authors we add to the crew in the future will be able to join up without jumping through hoops, and sharing on multiple platforms at once should no longer be an issue.

Hope y’all have an awesome night and we hope to see you tomorrow!

    -Larry

    Howdy folks!

Just got off the phone with the one and only Entrail_JI. We’ll be starting our mic checks and setup in approximately 2 hours, 6:30 PM EST–shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes or so. I promise we’re working on getting our schedules aligned so we can do these at the same times every week 😅

Jacopo will be working on finishing today’s chapter of Horror Game Developer while I will be working on edits and revisions for my wife, Morgana “Kerb’s Wife” Cross. First time testing the new streaming service, so we’ll definitely be on Patreon, and if my tablet allows, we’ll also send it to Discord in either The Bard’s Corner or Behind the Scenes stage. Assuming everything runs smoothly, we’ll consider tacking on more platforms in the future. Suggestions are welcome. YouTube and Twitch are on the table.

Feel free to come and hang out! If you can’t make it, the stream will also be available on Spotify under the podcast Kerberos Rambles tomorrow morning or under the free Kerberos Rambles collection here on Patreon. Links to Entrail’s Horror Game Developer and the podcast below!

Think I’ll Quip this, too, actually

Appreciate everyone stopping in! Got to show off my garage and my various series projects. If I seemed a bit off or slow this evening… I was! Couldn’t sleep at all last night and have been up for just over 40 hours. This dude is going to bed, lol.

Due to technical difficulties for the first hour or so, I likely won’t be posting this one to the podcast. I’ll add it if I can get the first chunk cropped.

See y’all next week for more Kerb/Cross stuff, or this weekend for a stream focused more on Jacopo and his WebNovel projects.

    Night folks!
