Holly and Angela continue their fun at the hot spring. But is everything as it seems? Since this is Clinic 12, probably not!

I love writing for Holly and Angela. Their history is intense, but they know each other better than they know themselves. Angela sees past Holly's walls, while Holly helped Angela embrace who she's become.

As always, I can't wait to hear what you think!

Wow.

Maggie Heels

NO, NO, NO, NO, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Crewchick

WOW!!!!! So much, so good! And yet when we are finally getting the the most surprising and exciting part... cliffhanger! Now I will be pensive and on the edge of my seat until next month!! Thank goodness there are two episodes of Half Sisters this month!! Yeah!

Gemma

What the …! Initially I was enjoying the beautifully images of Holly and Angela’s ‘sexy time.’ Thinking, I hope Emory shows similar explicit beautiful images when Nikki finally explores her burgeoning sexuality. I then allowed myself to slip into, take in sensual beautiful calm space you created, allowing myself to be drawn into the rhythm of the sweet words of hope that Angela was providing for Holly. Holly slowly beginning to see a possible future she had not imagined. Then POW! What the hell, and a hellish twist in what was such a serene and sweet episode. You have done it again Emory and caught me, and, I imagine, a lot of you readers, off guard. Leaving us all up in the air, once again on a knife point of anticipation.

I had my suspicions about the previous two episodes and this one along that they were just too perfect, almost a pastoral interlude in the middle of what had been a period of undiluted violence and stress for everyone. And now we know, if all too briefly, and that Holly’s life is in great danger. Xu isn’t the only one who may be mortally wounded. Brilliantly set up, Emory, with yet another terrific cliffhanger. And the way that you conveyed the shifts between the dreams and consciousness was just fabulous, a wonderful mix of text and illustration. If - and it could be a big if - Holly survives - it will be interesting to see what the consequences of her dream might be. Yet another amazing chapter in the finest saga on the net.

2026-09-14 23:00 In french, Orgasms are often call " La petite mort" ( little death) as a nickname. Holly know why😊

Alyson Greaves

Well those are a whole shitload of emotions for me to process five minutes after waking up. Good shit 🫠

Ella Cherry

Ouch! 😞 Sad, tense, and very well done!

Omagathief

So did that interaction at the spring actually happen or was it just in Holly’s dying, hallucinating mind 🤔? Because if that whole interaction was just in her mind that would be quite sad and sweet at the same time 😢

Wojtek

Emory , the ending is such that it is difficult to describe in one word. In addition, we will wait in suspense for the continuation! A couple of things are certain : Mr. Davis is one character who was to be feared on the island and he got what he deserved. Love can be found anywhere, true.... Sacrebleu, it doesn't look like "le petit morte"

Helena Grace

Amazing art as always. The way you interspaced the future there is stunning So, I guess we know why Davis said 'rot in hell'. I still hope Holly pulls through. The shot looks too low for her implants to help, but I have hope! the cinematic here are amazing, I can almost feel the ff7 remake static when it's flashing between the present and future. What a time for Holly to maybe have a way forward after second dawn. The attack is obviously targeted, taking out Holly and xu? The real question is take over or what. i don't think Davis shot either one, but i could see him helping whoever did. Curious to see just how this mystery unfolds and the fallout

Ashleigh Christina

No no no. I truly started to feel like when Clinic 12 closed, Holly and Angela would go off and live happily together married

Jade Diaz

wtf Holly hates cats? Hdu?!

Emory Ahlberg

Hi Omaga! Yes, the interaction / conversation at the spring actually happened. What we're seeing is a blend of a memory and a hallucination as she's losing a lot of blood. But what they said (and did) really happened.

Omagathief

So not quite so sad but still very touchy that that’s the memory that comes to her mind when she is on the brink on death

Ashleigh Christina

Also, any updates on Connie’s and Dr. Mason’s transitions?

Ellen Mellor

That's one hell of a roller coaster ride. The joy of seeing their love being real followed by the hard come down at the end. Wonderful transitions (sic) between the two time periods. Thank you!

Brandi

Holly might be my favorite character she's so complex and beautiful in so many ways

Thomas Tolliver

Wait, is Holly dead or is she unconscious!?

Emory Ahlberg

She's not dead yet, Thomas - but she's in a lot of trouble. 😟

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Brandi! Honestly, I agree and for the same reasons. Holly has gone through a lot, and in the early years she went through it all alone. Any of the (very relative) "kindness" we see from Second Dawn / Clinic 12 has its origins in her.

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, D. I know, that was a heavy one to write. Holly is in real trouble...

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Diana! 💕 Sorry for all the cliffhangers! But it really seems like the only way to tell an 'epic' story like this. Half Sisters will DEFINITELY be lighter fare - although poor Nikki has her own mess to deal with, too!

Emory Ahlberg

Thanks, Gemma! I get that whiplash feeling. I really wanted you to feel like you were right there with Holly and Angela, like you were breathing in that same air of hope, maybe even starting to believe it yourself. I wanted that serenity to feel as real as possible so that when it gets ripped away...well, you know, it stings. But hope isn't lost. Angela won't give up on Holly without a fight.

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Robert! Yeah, I was hoping that the shift in tone would work. I wanted it to feel like a false sense of security - like that moment where you think you're safe, and then the rug gets pulled out from under you. I'm glad you caught on to how I was playing with the dream sequences! The whole point was to show how Holly’s mind is drifting between past, present, and a possible future as she lays there, severely injured. 😔 Holly isn't dead yet... but it's going to be close. Phase 9 is the lead up to the gunshot that changed everything. Phase 10 is the aftermath and beyond. And thank you for all your kind words!!! 💕

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Wojtek! Honestly, I’m glad the ending of this episode landed in such a way that it defies easy categorization! It was hard to write and I wasn't sure if I pulled it off... seems I did! 😊 To me, the care Holly and Angela were sharing is the glimmer of something beautiful amid so much darkness at Clinic 12. So, in other words, you're right. It's not "petit mort" - as all deaths are big and profound, especially to the ones left behind. 😢

Emory Ahlberg

Yes, exactly. 😟 "...would've been fun." Those may be Holly's last words.

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Ella! 💕 Yeah, it's a tough one... but all is not lost. Angela seems determined to at least try to help. 😟

Emory Ahlberg

Holly often used pleasure as a way to escape the reality of her situation, but it wasn't really about pleasure itself, but about that feeling of letting go - of forgetting - even if it was just for a little while. For Holly, it’s not that she’s seeking a "little death" in the act, it’s that she’s seeking a little life.

Emory Ahlberg

Alyson, I cannot imagine waking up to my emotionally manipulative mind-fucks - I am sorry 😂

Emory Ahlberg

Thanks, Hel! Davis is a sadistic bastard, but he's a coward. Does he have the guts to pull off something this big when he's more of a "kick them (in the balls) while they're down" kind of guy? You're onto something with the idea of a targeted attack, though. The question is, who's behind it and why? I can't wait to hear what you think of what I have planned next! 😊

Emory Ahlberg

Aw, Tony, 💕 that future isn't gone...but, yes, it's in serious jeopardy. I love those two together, too! Angela has really blossomed - and she is one of the longest returning characters in the story. Hopefully Phase 10 will find her in a better place.

Emory Ahlberg

We'll see more of them both before the end of Phase 9!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Ellen! 💖 Yeah, that was a wild episode to write, too. I really wanted to show how Holly and Angela could find something genuine even in such a screwed-up place. They both have a lot of trauma, but maybe that's why they connect so deeply.

Erica Rost

No, it's impossible , Holly is dead !

Robertlouis

Now there’s a very interesting thought. What if there has been a planned attack by an unknown third party, at least at this stage? And if so, by whom?

Helena Grace

Davis taking the chance to grab brooke during the chaos is interesting but he is an opportunist. We know xu has enemies, people who want his business, likely platinum star members who are excluded from companions for instance might want to install someone more sympathic. Now, the question is. This attack managed to hit both Holly and Xu. Jill seems safe at the moment, and Davis is contained. Where is the rest of the leadership, and the coven? What is everyone else doing, like Ava - Brooke was running from Davis, but the other companions are unaccounted for. Is this a coup or an assault? A smash and grab. There's a lot of possibilities.

Robertlouis

Hmmm. I knew there was something off about that girl…

Kris Greg

CURSED CLIFFHANGER!!!!

SingularCurve

I have three words... Oh My Goddess!! I have a few more, Holly Stay with us!! Please dont die! I love how Holly has evolved over the course of this story!!

Emory Ahlberg

Sorry, Kris!!! 💕 More episodes soon, I promise.

Emory Ahlberg

Thanks, Singular! When I started writing Holly, I honestly wasn't sure if anyone would connect with a character who's done... well, everything she's done. But even in the darkest corners, there's a spark of something, right? She's made some seriously messed up choices, no doubt, but underneath it all, there's still a woman fighting to get through hell.
