A few of you in the comments were sad we didn't get to see art of Maya's costume. Me too! I simply ran out of time. Well, tonight I decided to fix that! Hope you like these two additional illustrations of one of the most fun nights of Taylor's life - so far. 😊

These will be included in the chapter when I eventually publish this monster. We're now past 90,000 words if you can believe it! Thank you all for loving Taylor's story as much as I do. 💕

Of all the pictures in Chapter 14, these would have been (and now are) the best. I love the smiles.... what a happy couple.

Emory Ahlberg

💞 Thank you, Brooke! They're so cute. Love to see Taylor's full costume, too.

Jade Diaz

The joy on both of their faces is making me so happy. You think back to where poor he/him Taylor was back in chapter one to where Taylor is now. I hope that when Abigail comes to Indiana, they pull an epic prank on Malcolm and the other Mean Girls at his old high school.

Emory Ahlberg

Aw, thank you very much, Jade. Yeah, Taylor really has come a long way... It'll be bittersweet to say goodbye next month. But I have a feeling it won't be forever. 😊

Thomas Tolliver

So strange. On mobile it won't let me see the second image. I'll have to enjoy that treat tomorrow 😁

Emory Ahlberg

That’s weird… I’ll upload it as an attachment, as well. Maybe that way you can download it!

Thomas Tolliver

I think it's working, so hopefully I haven't put you through extra work for nothing!

Wow!!! phenomenal artwork! The images are beautiful. Though Holly Golightly and Dax are not a pairing I would have ever imagined, even on the holodeck. But they look amazing together. However I am still waiting for the video of the two of them sitting on the fire escape while Maya sings Moon River with a borrowed guitar.

Crewchick

Actually the lyrics seem quite appropriate for Taylor and Maya... "Moon river, wider than a mile I'm crossing you in style some day Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way Two drifters, off to see the world There's such a lot of world to see We're after the same rainbow's end Waitin' 'round the bend My huckleberry friend Moon river and me"

Thank you! Just what the EMH ordered. (And yes, I know I'm mixing Treks. That's just the way I role.)

Nope! I have my 3D models that have cell shader options which I touch up (a lot) in photoshop

Taylor's hair and the background are the same colour, it's a bit hard to makeout

Emory Ahlberg

Thanks! The background is a stock photo that I ran through a "toon" filter. 😊

Emory Ahlberg

Good note! Thanks, I've made an adjustment on the contrast. Hope that helps.

Emory Ahlberg

Controversial! LOL, thank you, Ellen. 💕 I was really happy to do these for those two. They're so cute.

Crewchick

So lovely and also a bit haunting.

When the story has Taylor and Maya climb out on the fire escape at the party, this was the scene from the movie that immediately came to mind. I was kind of expecting a picture of them and a nod of some kind to the song and the scene as Maya realizes they are both alone on the fire escape much like the scene in the movie, and perhaps alluding to the exciting but uncertain future they have ahead of them. https://youtu.be/o6l2rz7xUr8?si=wB8WiNiAbS9_ZNMF

So lovely. For some reason it didn’t even cross my mind! Maybe I’ll add that for the published version. 😊

Just a little Breakfast at Tiffany's Trivia. Audrey Hepburn was 31 years old when she starred as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's, which was released in 1961. In contrast, the character of Holly Golightly is supposed to be 19 years old in the film. So the character is very likely almost the same age as Maya.

Also the Book was written by Truman Capote. By the account of many, "a strange little man", but with a massive intellect and a charm and wit that could could either disarm and enamor you or dispatch you before you even knew what happen. A member of the Southern Gothic, True Crimes, and New Journalism movements, his works include Breakfast at Tiffany's, Other Voices Other Rooms, and In Cold Blood. Putting him in both distinguished eclectic company that ranges from Tennessee Williams to Hunter S. Thompson. For me though, my fascination was peaked by his childhood friendship and life time association with Harper Lee, author of my favorite book To Kill A Mockingbird. They were neighbors growing up. He was the inspiration for the character Dill Harris in TKAM. And he likewise use Harper Lee as the inspiration for a character in Other Voices Other Rooms. Lee also Helped Capote with his research for In Cold Blood.
