Family reunions, bitter rivalries, and dangerous plans collide as the Coming Out dinner contest begins. For Jill, everything changes tonight...

This one was a beast to write - in a fun way!

Part 32 is essentially multiple storylines happening simultaneously in the same space... basically big finale energy. This was one of those episodes where the characters really took the wheel. I know that's a cliche, but it's a real thing! I had my outline, my beat sheet, my carefully planned structure—and then the scenes just... went where they needed to go. Some of my favorite moments weren't in the original draft at all.

I loved the emotional beats in this one. - Emory 💕 P.S. As always... PDF is the best quality! 😉

omg perfect timing, I was about to take a break <3

Maybe an odd comparison, but Xu's got real "If David Xanatos from the show Gargoyles was into forcefem" energy, able to twist any scenario into seeming like it was his plan all along. I'm gonna make my prediction, call my shot. The mystery third round after Swimwear: empathy bellies and maternity wear. I've been on the "winner gets a uterus" train for literal years now, and I'm so excited that we're this close to the reveal!

Love the anticipation you have created with this slow build up in this episode. Interesting also to be privy to snippets of what appears to be Mr Xu’s humanity. I suspect, however,’ it may be an illusion and ultimately driven by his own hidden agenda’s and, as Jill pointed out, further aspect’s of his underlying manipulative tendencies of control. It was still nice, however, for Jill to connect and become aware of how much she is loved by her dad and Emily. How they never gave up on her. This in turn challenging her old perceptions of her dad as being emotionally absent and more focussed on ‘making money.’ What a tremendous affirmation of the depth of love depth and devotion and commitment this must have been for Jill, how they never gave up on her and the hope of finding her. The images in this episode are out of this world. The close up magnifying of the faces further highlight the ‘real to life’ beautiful images of ‘all the girls,’ as well as other characters. Love also the real to life commentary by Holly which further adds to the reality of the possibility of the existence of this ‘Second Dawn Xu universe.’ Can’t wait to see what happens next!

You've built some fine tension here. I know that the scene won't be completed in the next installment, but I can see it on the horizon. I saw Zach's dad. I'm wanting him to get (at the VERY least) a good scare at this event, but it would be nice if he got much worse. I love your work!

Tim

Love your prediction for the third round, Jenny.

Masterful storytelling and the emotions in the art work is phenomenal

The tension is becoming unbearable, because we know that a chaotic and bloody denouement is about to unfold, which will include Xu’s attempted assassination. What puzzles me is that Zu seems to be saying to Jill that he and his security team have been aware all along of Emily’s plans to rescue Jill and the others, and that as a result his team may be lying in wait, having set a trap. I hope I’m wrong. Meanwhile, the art is even better, with the facial details down to pores and individual hairs, especially on Jill, Xu, Soledad and John. And the expressions, especially Jill and her father, are so incredibly moving. Right, I’m waiting for the first explosion.

2026-09-14 23:00 Sometime the action feels long to come but the fact is that the action is already in motion. This episode feel like a game of chess or a long game of shogi.

If Soledad and John Larson are not wedded after this whole affair is settled I’ll ragequit this patreon!

Robertlouis

I don’t know about them getting hitched, but I’m really hoping that he’s able to fulfil the pledge he made to ensure that she escapes from the island.

Robertlouis

Yes, when that bullet finally strikes Xu, is there any chance of a ricochet taking out Hutchinson? Please???

Emory Ahlberg

Next Jack & Jill Spinoff: "Legal Briefs" - She files his motions. He handles her briefs. Together, they'll make partner - in more ways than one.

Interesting. Would have loved a longer gown on Jill, but she rocked the one she was put in too. Wonder what sort of "wardrobe malfunction" is going down.

Jade Diaz

See I know you are joking but that it genius!!

What a great episode. Can’t wait for the next. Your work is next level. I love the art but I love the stories even more

Hope you're ready for another one in a few hours. 💕

LOL - Thank you, Jenny. You may be right about Xu! Also, that was one of my absolute favorite shows growing up! And, ooooh - fun prediction! We shall soon see. 💖

Emory Ahlberg

Thanks, Kris! Yeah, Leonard Hutchinson is the opposite to some of the more "sophisticated" monsters in the room. He deals in brute force and arrogance! Half Sisters is about two weeks "behind" Jack & Jill - but it's interesting to know that Nikki will be left to her own devices for at least a few days while Hutchinson is enjoying the Coming Out event. 😉

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you so much, Gemma! Yeah, Xu is far more dangerous than Davis because he wraps his monstrous actions in philosophy and benevolence, making his victims doubt their own perceptions. Does he believe them? I think, for the most part, he does. But, yeah, I loved that moment of connection between Jill and her father. In a way, that was the antidote to Xu's manipulation, proving that genuine love is something the algorithm can't predict. 😊

SingularCurve

words words fail me... emotion, pagentry, hutchinson being a prick worse than the toymaster...ugh

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you so much, Crystal! The emotions are, to me, the most important part of the story!

Emory Ahlberg

Thanks, Robert! 💖 Mr. Xu fancies himself a grandmaster of human chess, so he prides himself on seeing the entire board rather than just the pieces directly in front of him. He admitted to Mason that he suspects Morosini is plotting against him, and his instructions to Mike regarding Josie suggest he is suspicious that something is up... although he has said he doesn't know where Emily is... but of course that may be a lie. Xu’s arrogance is his greatest weapon, but it might also be his biggest blind spot. He believes he can manipulate any outcome to his favor... I am so glad you appreciated the detailed art in this update, particularly during the reunion scene. I really wanted to capture every emotion!

Emory Ahlberg

I think that's a really excellent comparison, Nolwenn. We've all been waiting for the Coming Out event for a long time, so I don't want to rush things... it's a balancing act!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Singular! And yeah, amazing how Hutchinson is an arrogant prick even among monsters...

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you so much, Kirsten! And you only have to wait a little bit longer! 😊

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Thomas! Jill would have looked wonderful in a longer gown, too. She looks wonderful in pretty much anything! And you're soon about to find out about that malfunction... 😊
