"I'm the guy who does his job. You must be the other guy." - The Departed

This is (another) big one.

While Holly stalls on stage with her trademark charm, chaos is unfolding behind the scenes. Davis is tearing the compound apart looking for Josie. Tyler is watching security feeds that don't make sense. And somewhere in the Executive Wing, past doors that shouldn't be unlocked...

Josie finally comes face to face with the inside man.

Meanwhile, the swimwear competition continues - because the show must go on, even when the foundation is crumbling underneath. 💕

Can't wait to read your thoughts!!!

I like the Star wars reference and with those flashbacks from those earlier chapters I think that's a fair assessment but I don't think there's going to be any ewoks coming to the rescue this time

Jade Diaz

Well well one answer is revealed and one co-conspirator is still lurking out there. Absolutely love how feral Liam looks.

Tim

Of course it's a trap!... but where is the Emperor now? The battle has barely begun.

Jade Diaz

Maybe Emory can work in “Your overconfidence is your weakness.” in the next episode

Tim

Not Ewoks... but perhaps Toys?

Mike, strategically waiting until middle age before rebelling so they won’t feminise him, not realising there’s a whole other island that does MILFs.

Crewchick

OMG, WOW!!!! Edge of my seat. I know it was a long one, 24 pages, and I am so grateful, but I am also beside myself because I have to wait until next month now for what happens next. I know Josey is not ready to forgive Mike, but I am proud of him in a way finally standing up and doing the right thing. Joey stood up alone and we saw what happen. Mike courageous or not, intentional or not, waited until he was able be part of a larger organized effort. One I think will make a difference this time. Not saying that justifies Mike turning a blind eye for as long as he did, but timing and team work can make all the difference in becoming a hero or a martyr. I had a feeling Mike might be the "inside man" but I have no clue who the other inside person is. Someone with high level access obviously. My mind is all over the place. Angela seems like a possibility, working directly for Xu in the executive office she would have access. Holly is also a possibility. Mason might have been another possibility for someone growing a conscience late, but he has been in lock-down and facing the "treatment". Davis is a non-starter. He is too deep into all the criminality. And he has no incentive for burning down his personal playground. Maybe one of the other members of the Coven, but we know so little about them. I think we would have seen something more about one or all of them if they were going to play such a big role. My long shot is Xu himself. He seems pretty amenable to having Jill move Second Dawn in a new direction. Maybe the leaks were a back-up to keep himself from falling back or maybe to take out Davis from the picture to give Jill a fresh start will no militant resistance fighting her every step of the way? Again major long shot. I am sure you will amaze us all with whom it ends of being. As for the contestants, they all look amazing. And their dresses and swimsuits fit the personalities and the bodies. I don't know how much more of the competition we will get to see before the shit hits the fan, but I have a feeling you will squeeze in at least a little something yet to shock and titillate, and maybe give Liam a venue to vent his rage. Maybe we will even see if Hannah's shell can be cracked? And what exactly is going to happen? Joey is going to upload files to Morosini, but is all that data going live on the internet for all to see, or is Morosini going to review it first and send it to law enforcement? And who is law enforcement? Is Second Dawn's island in U.S. Waters or international waters? We know Jill is meant to be rescued. But how many others? It does not appear the operation is big enough to evacuate all the "patients" in the clinic. Who gets left behind and what becomes of them? If Davis knows his world has been blown up, he may just kill all the toys and burn down Clinic 12 to eliminate as many loose ends as possible, especially ones that can talk. Jill made that promise to Xu, will she go with Emily and her Dad, or will she insist on staying back to look after all the toys and companions who can't be evacuated and need looking after? If a real time data dump happens that would mean press and police showing up and raiding the island, likely within hours. That would make it impossible for Jill to fulfill her promise to Xu and leave no safe place for toys and companions something I saw Jill doing with Clinic 12 after Xu. Plus Jill is supposed to go and help Nikki. So it makes me wonder if there is an escape plan for Xu and the staff if there is a security breach at Clinic 12. I suspect New Dawn in much bigger than one island. Are clinics 1-11 on other islands or continents? Are they Chinese Walled apart from one another so if one goes down the others remain hidden? Does Jill go with Xu to one of these other clinics to keep her promise and possibly as part of some other bargain to ensure the safety of Ryan and others, to let Holly and Angela get their happily ever after in Italy, or to let Emily, her Dad, Josey and the rest leave if the mission fails? And what about the Platinum Club Members. Do they get off the island? Do they keep their identities secret? Hutchinson is there, if his picture and financial and other date is uploaded to the web it blows up his ability to still be the villain in Half Sisters. It is hard to put pressure on Nikki if he is under federal investigation and in hiding outside the country some place without an extradition treaty. Plus that kind of kills any plans for making Zach governor or a Senator with Nikki by his side. Soooo many parts and moving pieces to all fit together and while closer to the "big action", still only in the early stage of movement beginning to slowly pick-up momentum. In zero to sixty, we are barely out of zero and have a long way yet to go before we hit 60 MPH. But enjoying the ride all the same.

What an episode. Beautiful balance of suspense and drama. I liked the conversation between Mike and Joey. Certainly Joey expressed herself well and how she was not okay with what had happened to her. Even subtle remarks about no longer able to stand to relieve herself. She didn’t let him off the hook as she expressed her ongoing discomfort, resentment and let him know that she would never reach that mindset of acceptance that Mike had tried to talk himself (to ease his conscience) that he hoped might occur. Holly certainly is the a great mistress of ceremonies. The way she kept impatient’buyers’ amused and spiced it up with clever innuendo’s was masterful. She certainly knows what to say to please, to put it lightly, twisted perverted audience. Images as usual, fantastic. Again, as to be expected now, you left us all with a cliff hanger. Thanks Emory

This really is head and shoulders above everything else. incredible art work that is effective not purely because the girls are beautiful (and they are!) but because of the detailing and emotions that you convey through them, and to me that's the core of it all, then when you add a beautifully told story where the threads all weave together perfectly you have this.

2026-09-14 23:00 I don't think jo should blame Mike. He is not really wrong about what is happening. And i stay convincing that Jo's rebellion begin because he had a way to make some monnaie at the time. despite what she is saying to Emily. And i don't know why but i don't find that jill is the most beautiful woman in the contest. Personally i prefere the cold beauty of liam or Hannah style. Even Jodie as something more interesting than Jill. ( don't take it bad, jill is a beauty but not my type)

Holly is such an amazing host! It is so fun how the story switches back and forth between the action and the spectacle. It works so well. And the fashion? I really loved that high-fashion, runway-style couture vibe of the bikinis!

Kris Greg

Damn good episode! You keep building the tension, & I'm so here for it that I'm impatient for the next chapter even though I'm also looking forward to your other stories. You keep juggling good stories, & I'm not sure how you do it. Thanks for another riviting episode of Jack & Jill.

So impressed how you’ve written this “movie” with unique personalities to each character and created an emotional connection…the key to a great story. I think we are all hooked/invested in it. The mind endlessly wonders with the possible twists and turns of this “3D Chess Game” Xu is playing. …and, I LOVED THE ROTJ REFERENCE!!! (…spot on!)’

Tim

Good thing it's Tyler who got the jump on Mike. Didn't Tyler tell Jill, "If you ever need anything else..." a few episodes ago? He's obsessed with her. All Mike has to do is answer Tyler's question truthfully: "Joey's here to help Jill. She's here with Jill's sister to save her from Second Dawn."

Tim

Oh, but Jill is so much more than a pretty face with an unbelievable body, Nolwenn. She's easily the most complete woman of the contestants... or of any of the other girls who have been processed through Clinic 12. Without question, Jill is beautiful... but "beauty is only skin deep."

Tuor

Oooff, that image of Josie heading into the restroom with a duffel of weapons 😍. Ima take a cold shower 😅.

Maggie Heels

Oh............ my............... god............. Maybe I'm an irredeemable optimist, but I still strongly believe that Mike, Josie, and Tyler will meet someday in a bar for a beer together after everything...

Tim

I understand, Nolwenn. Speaking in very generalized terms, I believe there are notable differences between the French and the American aesthetic of a beautiful woman, just as there are differences across all cultures. I find Soledad, for example, as a fantastic representative of a Latina aesthetic of a beautiful woman (and as a side note, I share your mildly tongue-in-cheek view on her becoming Jill's stepmom). And as we Americans often exclaim—butchering your native language no doubt—"Vive la différence."

Jade Diaz

Emory has made it clear previously that there are no other Clinics. It’s a psyop the Davis has done implying there are other facilities but in reality there are not.

Emory Ahlberg

Mike definitely tells himself that his age and "gruff security dad" vibe are a shield, but I wouldn’t bet money on it. Davis wold be happy to open up (F)MILF island!

Emory Ahlberg

Like the Emperor... Xu is perhaps watching from his high tower, manipulating everyone. But, famously, he had some big blindspots!

Emory Ahlberg

I really love writing Liam because his rage is so raw and unpolished compared to the careful masks everyone else wears. He definitely represents that ugly refusal to adapt that I think feels very real when your bodily autonomy is stripped away. I love him.

Emory Ahlberg

Actually, the idea of the Toys as Ewoks is actually pretty profound when you consider that they are underestimated, infantilized, and viewed as harmless scenery by the "Empire" of Second Dawn!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Diana! I'm so happy the tension held up through such a long chapter! I really wanted Mike’s turn to feel earned but not necessarily forgiven. Let's be real, he waited until it was convenient for his own conscience, and Josie was right to call him out on that. Interesting theory about Xu burning down his own house to get rid of Davis. It does fit his "gardener" mentality perfectly, pruning the rot to save the "art." But, also, yeah, you're right about the conflict: data leaks are great, but they don’t physically stop bullets or unlock cells. Jill has spent four years adapting to survive, but her father’s arrival just shifted her goal from survival to protection, and I don’t think she can leave anyone behind now. P.S. Jade is correct that there are no Clinics 1 - 12... although an actual Clinic 13 IS under construction!

Emory Ahlberg

Thanks, Gemma! I felt that hallway scene needed to be emotionally brutal because quick forgiveness would have felt cheap. Josie needed to stand her ground and remind him that compliance has a permanent cost. And Holly really is a master of the mask! I'm having a lot of fun with her ability to charm a room full of monsters while she’s internally screaming. She's really good at her job!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Crystal! I really appreciate that! I work hard to ensure the images aren't just surface-level pretty but actually convey the tragedy and resilience of these characters. 💖

Emory Ahlberg

I find the debate about Mike fascinating because it touches on how we define complicity. Mike kept his head down to survive and get paid, whereas Josie risked everything and paid a horrific price, so I believe she earned the right to be angry at the people who just watched. Oh and I love that you prefer the coldness of Liam or the distinct style of the others! Jill represents Xu’s specific ideal of "adaptation," but Liam has a defiant, jagged beauty that feels very real to me. I love it!

Emory Ahlberg

LOL - I admire that optimism, Maggie! 💖 I’d like to believe there is a universe where they can all sit down for a drink, but I suspect the baggage between them might be too heavy for a casual happy hour. Josie has a lot of justified rage to work through, and Mike has a lifetime of guilt to carry. Still, stranger things have happened on this island

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Ellen! Holly breaks my heart because she is so good at a job she detests. But... at the same time, it's really fun to write lol. Thanks! The swimsuits were a lot of fun to design!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Kris! Juggling the storylines is a challenge, but also rewarding if it feels like I pulled it off! I like the contrast between glamour of the stage with the powder keg brewing under the surface. 😊

Emory Ahlberg

Wow, thank you, Jessika! That's one of the reasons I wanted to spend time with Liam. I think it's too easy for "epic" stories like this to treat the characters as interchangeable... I want everyone reacts to the trauma differently. 💖 LOL, glad you liked the reference! Mike is a massive nerd at heart!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Tim! 💖 Tyler is such a dangerous variable precisely because his motivations are so simple compared to everyone else’s 4D chess games. I suspect his infatuation with Jill is the one lever Mike might be able to pull, but Tyler is also desperate for approval from authority. Hmmm...

Emory Ahlberg

Thanks, Tuor! Yeah... there's something sexy about the contrast between the "helpless" sequin gown and the sheer lethality of the military hardware. Plus Josie's curves are amazing 🤣🍑

Crewchick

So where is Janice then? Clearly she is not at Clinic 12, though she may have been initially after her recapture. Is she at this Clinic 13? Or some place else?

Crystal Peaches

They really do and the story has so many layers to it. It’s an enthralling universe you’ve created.

Robertlouis

Another great episode and very cinematic, with all the jump cuts, and leaving us on yet another precipice: there are more cliffhangers in Jack and Jill than there are in the Himalayas! Tyler’s eagerness to please, coupled with his inexperience, will cause him to fuck up, become another victim of Davis’ wrath and end up as the toy he was always destined to be. I’d put money on it. So…. Let’s hope that Josie can link up with Emily and the rest of the rescue team before Davis and Xu get a handle on what’s really happening.

Robertlouis

Oh, and an excellent, and very telling, quote from The Departed, especially if you remember the precise context.

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Robert! 💖 I was hoping the episode felt cinematic! I'm glad cutting between the high-fashion gloss on stage and the gritty desperation in the corridors to kept the tension ratcheted up. Film school taught me SOMETHING, at least 😉. Your read on Tyler may be heartbreakingly accurate. Davis loves breaking the eager ones because their fall is so steep, so I’d say Tyler is in just as much danger as the people in the cells!

Emory Ahlberg

Thanks! I love the themes of identity, moles, and betrayal in that movie...

stacy C

Hehe nice ROTJ reference.....there's definitely plenty of traps around ;-) x
