So remember that D&D-inspired something I mentioned (yesterday)? Here it is!

I've been playing way too much Baldur's Gate 3, and at some point my brain did what it always does - "Okay, but what if I wrote something?" So I did.

If you're not a BG3 person, don't worry - you don't need to be. And if you are a BG3 person... I think you're going to have a good time.

Part 1 is here. More coming soon... if you like it!

Can't wait to hear what you think! 💕

There's an ANIMATION in the attachments!

Ha, nerd ;) This is fun! Yes, of all the BG3 companions, it'd definitely be Astarion who would be the most into this anyway, there wouldn't be a position he wouldn't try. :P But the sense of relief from being gently pulled away from Cazador's influence would be like a glass of water in the desert. Meanwhile, Gale is like "Magic sex change ring? I wonder what it tastes like? Nom nom nom!" Looking forward to more, Emory! Thank you! <3

Confirmed for nerd! 😉 Thank you, Jenny! Yeah, I had a lot of fun. I tried my best to get the characters voices "right" - tried to imagine each character actually speaking the dialogue. How do you think I did??

Jenny S

As a fellow nerd with 230 hours in the game, I think you did very well :)

Smashing continue

Only one season? MEH... ❣️❣️❣️So I'll take a whole pallet, or two, or a whole container. 😁😊🤭

I have been playing BG3, although I’m very much a noob. My alter ego, is a girl of course. I can understand Astarion’s frustrations as I too usually leave him behind. It will be interesting where you go with this story. You have made me feel guilty, I will have to let Astarion be part of the next adventure party.

Crystal Peaches

BG3 is one if my favourite games, and this is perfection.

Kris Greg

My current favorite video game! Even though Astarion is one of my least favorite companions (I loathe vampires as anything other than bad guys), I'm enjoying this so far.

Nicegent42

Since the early release I think I have played through act 1 lk12 times, only ever pushing myself to act three twice but never actually finishing the game. its so fun I don't want it to end

Gemma

You captured their personalities and responses as I would have imagined they would be in the situation and circumstances that you recreated.

Kamillah Ali

oooh this was really interesting! looking forward to part 2! hey could you ship me one of those rings please, ill pay a premium XD

Jade Diaz

Nah, I got the +3 vorpal sword of fake lesbian vampire smiting as a drop from a mind flayer. I got this!

Emory Ahlberg

Mine too! Thank you, Crystal. I tried my best to get the character voices just right.

Emory Ahlberg

Thanks, Kris! It's such a great and well-made game. I still haven't finished it yet because there is just so much to do...

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Gemma! There are actually mods you can find on Nexus that makes Astarion a girl. 😉

Emory Ahlberg

I'm in the exact same boat. Same with Cyberpunk, actually. I get to a certain point in the story - and I feel a compulsion to start over. 💕

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Kamilah 💕 - God, I think most of us would absolutely love Eilistraee's blessing. The "Change Dance" is a real part of the lore, btw!

Gemma

I recall am a noob. I immediately had to look up what Nexus Mods are, and will now have to figure out how to use and apply them to try and experiment with different things I can do on this game (maybe also has other applications in other areas?).

Not really either of those. I wasn't going to say this, because it's more about me than about your work, but since you ask... Bewilderment would be a better word. I wondered what this was about, and so I looked at what it says of Baldur's Gate 3 on Wikipedia. I learned that it's a video game, something to which I'll come back shortly. One of the things that puzzled me was that the Wikipedia article says that outcomes depend on rolling a D20. I don't understand how a D20 roll (a physical thing in the real world) can be combined with a video game (stuff going on inside a machine). But video games, really, are something that happened to other people and have nothing to do with me. When video games first came out (probably before you were born) someone persuaded me to have a go at Space Invaders in a pub. The game ended without my grasping what I was supposed to do. Years later, a friend enthused about a video game and compelled me (rather against my will) to have a go. I gathered that it depended on manual dexterity and quick reactions, neither of which is my forte, and I was glad when my friend relented and allowed me to return to ordinary real world stuff. I know that video games have moved on, but I don't think that I have in this respect. I regard such games as requiring a younger and more adaptable intellect than mine. D&D, as far I knew, was a pencil, paper, and dice role playing game. These games are quite different from video games, and I understand their mechanics. Indeed, years ago, I received payments for design work on a similar game. But video game design is another matter, to do with computer coding which, again, is something for people with a younger and more adaptable intellect than mine. I sought to encapsulate all of that into the single word 'crumbs!' and perhaps we should both have let it go at that.
