September is here, and so is some big news!

I'm moving back to Los Angeles!

It happened fast. I was about to sign a new lease here in Vermont, and I realized - why am I doing this? Why move into another temporary place just to eventually move cross-country later when that's what I really want to do?

(I still love New England, but the long cold dark winters were really, really hard for me.)So, I made the ask of my day job (I've never been good at that) and, amazingly, they were okay with me going fully remote! Now, this Sunday, my dad (because he's the best and insisted) and I are hitting the road for a six-day cross-country trip to get me and my things to California. That's about 500 miles a day. Doesn't that sound like the start of some kind of movie? (Hopefully not the horror kind.)I'm really happy but - holy moly - it has been a total chaotic whirlwind. This whole week has been packing the old place, unloading stuff, repacking, and also planning the trip. Basically, I'm living in a state of excitement / semi-panic.All of that to say... this month will be a little lighter than usual, especially next week while I'm living on the road. Basically, we're only going to have two comics this month instead of the usual three. But September is still going to be fun! As you can see, this month's pinup is Kris from Homecoming, because guess who's back? I've missed her - even if she's in a pretty dark place right now. I hope you're as eager to read the continuation of her story as I am to write it!

And, yeah, she gets three pinups for the schedule this month because that's how excited I was. 😊 Now, here's what's on the menu:

HALF SISTERS - Episode 83! Sandy and Nikki's first day of classes at St. Christopher's. Club Rush was one thing but now it's time to actually be college students. I have a feeling one of them is going to handle this better than the other.

HOMECOMING - Episode 37! It's been since December, and I'm so excited to pick this back up. When we left off, Kris had apparently handed her best friend over to Bella to secure her own freedom. Oh, and Chris was seemingly trapped inside her mind (his mind?) watching it all transpire. That's... a lot. Let's find out what happens next.

LIBERATION — Chapter 9! My collaboration with the wonderful Zoe Storm is back on track. Hans, as "Florence," ventured out into the city and found a whole new perspective on the life of commoners... and maybe on himself too!

We also have pinup series and two snapshots this month:

BY ANY OTHER NAME - A new Snapshot! This one's short and sweet... a true snapshot! I don't want to give too much away, but I think you'll have fun with it.

WORK IT: LOOKBOOK PINUPS - I loved Work It. Like, a lot. And as I started drafting a potential Part 3, it became pretty clear that if I take one more step into Wes and Delia's story, it's not going to be a short one. Like, we're talking several more parts, maybe even a novel. And I would love that! But I can't take that on right now. So in the meantime, patron Jim suggested a visual peek at Wes's future on the runway. Thank you, Jim! Consider this a preview of things that may still be to come...

BG3: A DIFFERENT KEY — Part 2! If you read Part 1 earlier this week and are wondering where Astarion's story goes from here... so am I, honestly. Can't wait to show our favorite vampire spawn in a ballgown!

Thank you so much for your patience with the lighter month. I promise I'll make it up to you once I'm settled (and caffeinated) on the other coast. 💕

One of the darkest stories of the Emoryverse is back on camera this month. Can’t wait to dive back into this noir thriller. Kris looks as statuesque in chiaroscuro as she does in color.

Kris is a natural for noir, the femme fatale, the woman who came in from the dark. Homecoming left on such an uncertain note, and I'm very excited to come back to it. Exciting life changes! I hope the move goes smoothly! Don't worry if you need time on any of these, you'll always have our support, we're not going anywhere. <3

Sarah Wolf

Dang!!! Absolutely amazing

Tuor

I’m so glad you have returned to Homecoming. That’s the story that set the hook for me. TBH I’m a little scared too (is it me or did the lights just dim?). But I trust you Emory, I’m sure I’m going to love it 🥰

Emory Ahlberg

Thank youuu! ♥️ Kris really knows how to bring the drama. I’m so excited for Season 4!

I just want to make it clear I support women’s rights *and* wrongs. Bye bye Benji

Tim

A move across country, yet you've cut back from your usual month's schedule by only a single comic episode? If you need to give yourself more time, you know we're all here for you. And thanks to your amazing dad! I can see where you got your kindness and generosity genes from. Safe trip to the both of you.

Gemma

Another exciting month ahead. Whilst I wish there were more than 1 episode of Half Sisters, I am thrilled to revisit the tensions, and the strong elements of mystery and subterfuge that are present in the Homecoming story.

Thomas Tolliver

Just don't forget to come visit us New England folk sometimes ;)

Jade Diaz

He doesn’t seem especially adaptable to me, tbqh.

I Loved "Work It!" I would like very much to see More! (Also, "Taylor Made", and "The Last Straw" are 2 of my favorites) Wishing you Good Luck on Ur X-country journey. 😘🤗😘🤗 (somehow I missed part 1 of "A Different Key"

First of all, every good wish for a successful move and a bright future in LA. I’m also delighted that your dad is accompanying you on the trip - so good to hear that you have the support of your family. And with that, of course, don’t be too ambitious with this month’s schedule. If things have to be delayed or postponed, we’ll all understand. That said, I’m personally thrilled about the possible return of Homecoming. Kris is the most complex, tortured and alluring heroine that you’ve created, and she’s deeper in her personal quagmire than ever before. Her moral contradictions and compromises are enough to destroy a weaker person, but somehow she persists. But I have to ask, at what cost, and at what point will she eventually break? And I’m fascinated by the symbolism behind that enigmatic mask.

Good luck with the move. The thing about moving by car right across the USA to California reminds me of what happens at the start of Alyson Greaves' cheerleader books. I wonder what your new neighbours will be like, I hope they're as lovely as Maxine's. I'm surprised, in the circumstances, to see such a full month. I hope that you're not overdoing things. If you need to scale back please don't hesitate to do so. Frank Lloyd Wright said that, if you turned the world on its side, all of the loose bits would land in Los Angeles. The world, recently, has seemed more upside down than on its side, but I imagine that you're one of those loose bits.

Kris Greg

Good luck on your move. Stay safe.

That is such a fun trip. Use this to visit some of the great places in this Country. Coming from Vermont to Southern California there is literally no place you cannot visit. You have so many people on this site that depending on your route, we can give you some great ideas. You probably won't hit the northern route, but if you do, Mt. Rushmore & Yellowstone are absolutely amazing. In the midwest, the great Arch in St. Louis is something to see. In the Rockies, the Valley of the Gods. Personally, I didn't like Yosemite (Yellowstone was much better) but a lot of people like it.

Claire

Safe travels! Enjoy some father/daughter time! Oh, and wonderful images of Kris!

Crewchick

Safe travels and best of luck!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Jenny! ♥️ God, that’s such an evocative and perfect description of Kris. I love it. And thanks for your well-wishes on the changes. I’m on Day 3 of the roadtrip and so far, so good… *knock on everything*

Emory Ahlberg

Aw 🥰 Thank you, Tim! I promise I will delay the releases when necessary so as not to drive myself TOO crazy - like I’ve done with “By Any Other Name.” It’s just I’m so eager to tell my stories!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Gemma! Homecoming is such a different tone from Half Sisters, but I hope they’ll compliment each other well.

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Shannon! ❤️ Taylor Made and Last Straw are two of my favorites, as well. I’m so loving Work It, and I definitely plan on revisiting Delia and Wes - maybe for much longer next time!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Robert. You’re so sweet. 💖 I’ll definitely keep your advice in mind and will try not to be too much of a zealot about my schedule. I’m my own worse boss sometimes! I’m super excited about bringing Homecoming back. I know we left Kris in a dark place, and Chris as well (not to mention poor Benji). Do you think Chris and Kris will be able to work together?

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you so much, Pet ❤️. This is actually my second journey to California. I’ve been away for about four years, but now I’m headed back. I’m looking forward to seeing my friends in-person again. And I promise I’ll definitely keep your advice on my schedule in mind! I don’t want to drive myself crazy.

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Sarah! Kris is so fun to “photograph.” ♥️

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Tuor! ♥️ To be honest, I’m a bit scared too! Kris is in a really complicated place right now… and Chris and Benji as well!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Kris 💕 I’m on Day 3 of the roadtrip, about 1,500 miles down… so far, so good!

Emory Ahlberg

Thanks, Alex. I will miss parts of Vermont, but I’m looking forward to my friends and sunshine.

Emory Ahlberg

Thanks so much, Alex! ♥️ It has been three days and I’ve seen some really fun things already. For instance, I went to the Air Force Museum and saw a B17 just like in The Last Straw. Oh, and I also visited my very first Buc-ee’s so now I can write Nikki with authenticity when it comes to her favorite gas station lol

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you so much, Claire! My dad and I have been having a great time. 500 miles per day is a lot, but we’ve been filling the time with some fun conversations. ♥️ And thank you! Kris is so mysterious and beautiful… and maybe dangerous, too!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you very much, Crystal! Kris is just ridiculously “photogenic” haha ❤️

May the wind be at your back, & the assholes all be pulled off to the side of the road after eating something that disagreed with them! :o
