I'm writing to you from Los Angeles! To celebrate, a pinup of our favorite California girl felt right.

The road trip was both incredible and incredibly tiring. It was six days, twelve states, one very patient dad, and too much road food. But I'm here!

The first thing I did was get on the freeway, and I'm happy to report that it's apparently like riding a bike... a loud, aggressive, terrifying bike that's shaped like a Cybertruck and cuts you off without signaling. But still! It's just muscle memory.

The last few days, I've been apartment hunting and I've found a place I really like. Hopefully, I'll be moving in soon, and once I do, Titus (my computer) is getting set up first. The itch to render and write has been unbearable.

I also want to say, "Thank you!" This has been such an unusual month, and your patience and support through the move meant so much. I read every single comment (although I've been worse than usual this month at replying - stay tuned) and on the "what am I doing blowing up my life" days, they helped so much.

But everything is back on track, better than ever, and I can't wait to show you what's next. 💕

Thank you! 💕 Can’t wait for my first 70 degrees (21 C) and sunny day in December.

Emory Ahlberg

You made me LOL with that one Bella - perfect description!

Ellen Mellor

So glad you made it and you've already found an apartment. That's fast work. I hope your dad made it back home safely as well

Gemma

So happy for you and so pleased you found an apartment so soon. The picture of Jill was spot on she looks very pleased and happy. I have so often seen her as being your avatar, like you she has great compassion courage, strength, resilience and adaptability. Nice to see that grounded happy smile. Well done, take some deep breaths, allow yourself some time to settle in before you put Titus through his/her paces.

Pet Jeffery

I hope that you manage to nab the apartment that you really like. I note that you've named your computer. I name a lot of things (my walking stick, for example, is Floribunda) but I don't think that I've ever named my computers. In the words of the Beach Boys, "They wish they all could be California girls".

Kris Greg

It's good to hear that you're safe & happy. I didn't comment much because I knew that you had important things to do, & I knew you would be able to get back to us when you began to get settled. Enjoy your new home.

Tim

Welcome back! Now please take the time to settle in. I know you're dying to show us what's next—and we're dying to see it—but take the time to relax, breathe in the Pacific air (west of the 405 only), and get settled into your new apartment. Be happy knowing we are all happy for you. 💕 Oh, and gorgeous picture of our California girl posing above the Valley. Both you and Jill are at long last right at home where you belong.

Firewalker

Congrats!! Hope everything works out 💙💙💙💙💙💙

SteveP

In college I lived in Sierra Madre and had a very similar view of LA. Minus the girl and the pool. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Sarah Wolf

As I said before, welcome back to the Best Coast.

Jenny S

Glad everything's been well and safe, I hope you enjoy your new digs! :) Take all the time you need <3

Alex Cioranic-Alex From the Tri-Cities

Welcome back, my dearest muse Emory. On behalf of myself and my own Xuniverse characters, I really and truly missed you. Please do not overexert yourself and enjoy the Pacific Ocean's breeze and beaches.

Maggie Heels

And again we're nine hours timezone apart instead of only six... but I am very happy if you're happy my "close" friend ❣️❣️❣️

Maggie Heels

But because of our regular talks I think I can safely skip those quote signs 🤭

Emory Ahlberg

Isn't she? Jill is my oldest character, but still one of my favs. 💖

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Gemma! I went shopping today for apartment stuff, so that was very grounding and fun (although expensive). Titus is a boy. Don't ask me why - he just is lol (So is my car, Gabriel)

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you very much, Erin! Jill is ALWAYS fun to render. 😊

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Tim. 💖 I do want to settle in, but honestly creating is part of the for me! But I promise to definitely take a peek at the Pacific once again before I do. And I agree about Jill and me being at home here... just feels right!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Ellen! 💖 I was a woman on a mission to find a place. Luckily, I didn't have to compromise, and I really like the apartment I found. It has plenty of space for me and nice views of the mountains... California sunsets are pretty awesome.

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you so much for those well-wishes, Firewalker. So far, so good! 💖

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Kris! Yeah, moving is no joke - and moving across the country is maybe kind of insane. Luckily, I had friends here already and I know the city (I was here for 17 years), so I'm not a TOTAL fish out of water! And, yep, getting settled... can't wait for that first moment that really feels like home.

Crystal Peaches

congratulations on a safe move. Hope it brings you much happiness. xx

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Pet! I was able to get an apartment that I like 😊. Yes, I name important objects in my life - I'm convinced it makes them more reliable lol

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Jenny! I'm settling in and it already feels right. And I will take you up on that... the "take all the time you need" permission slip is going on my fridge. 😊

Emory Ahlberg

Best Coast confirmed. I will not be taking arguments at this time. 😎

Emory Ahlberg

I really am! It's chaotic but (mostly) the good kind. Thank you so much! 💕

Emory Ahlberg

Sierra Madre is gorgeous! And hey, the girl and the pool are aspirational - I don't have either of those yet either. Give me a month. 😅

Emory Ahlberg

Alex, you are so sweet, thank you. I promise to enjoy the breeze!

Pet Jeffery

I don't know about more reliable, but naming important objects makes them more relatable, turns them from 'it' to 'you'. On that basis, I decided that I should name my computer. Mine couldn't be Titus, partly because that would be copying you, and partly because Titus sounds like a 'he' (I like things to be 'she'/'her'). So, my computer is now Titania.

Emory Ahlberg

Yep, Titus is a “he” - and so is my car, Gabriel. I’m not sure why! Just felt right to me. 😊 Titania is a lovely name as well.
