Dutch national Mark van Dongen met South African Berlinah Wallace in 2010 in Bristol, England. After 5 years together, Mark decided he wanted to end the relationship. He finally broke it off in August 2015 when he met someone new.

When Berlinah Wallace refused to accept Mark’s decision, she became so consumed with anger and jealousy that she did the unthinkable. Her actions lead to devastating consequences.

This was Premium Episode #21, released in October 2023. It is not new content, it is the same episode, but as Patreon picks episodes are now going to be released on the main feed months after their initial Patreon release, we had to repost it so that all episodes can keep the same numbering on the main feed and the Patreon feed.

This is a case that haunts me still.

This one is so incredibly sad. I can't even imagine for him or hos family.

Suicide Sauce

I was just telling my dermatologist about this case last week!

As a true crime junkie I sometimes feel I get desensitized to the disturbing stories I listen too. This episode is not the case, I’m sickened by it, how could anyone inflict such horror and pain on another human being, so sick, so disturbing. For Berlinah to get “LIFE” (12 yrs) is a joke, unless the parole board keeps her incarcerated long after the 12 years has lapsed, but if anything like here in Canada, she’ll be happily released at 12 yrs, very sad 😔😔 May you rot in hell Berlinah Wallace and every misfortune in the world be bestowed upon you.

Heard this case elsewhere and I may give it a miss. Too horrific and too sad

Oh God, this one makes me so sick - literally. Sometimes you think you're having a bad day, and then you hear an excellent podcast episode like this that makes you realise how truly beautiful your life is, and you should stop stressing about the little things. I think Mark's dad is an exceptional father, and I just hope he's been able to get on with his own life. Great episode - thank you.

Melissa Vizza

How horrible. I cannot wrap my head around the cruelty inflicted on him. Mark, may you rest in peace.

Patty

It’s so upsetting but this cases are so real and that’s why we must always be super aware of those around us and our loved ones… some people mask a lot of cruelty.

Lisa

So sad and may he rest in peace. This one stays with you for a long time
