** Content Warning: child victims, child abuse, child sexual assault, child exploitation **

In 2013, a forum appeared on the dark web called Hurt2theCore. Run by an anonymous user known only as Lux, it was a digital cesspool dedicated to one of the most vile subgenres of illicit pornography. It quickly became Lux’s most notorious creation and drew the attention of global law enforcement.

As investigators delved into its murky depths, they found themselves up against one of the dark web’s most depraved predators - a shadowy figure known only as 666Devil…

Brock

My heart sank when I saw the name. Such a depraved case.

Suicide Sauce

Uuugggdffggghhh *drags hands down face* uuggghhhf.

Iain Strachan

Ugh. Might take me a few attempts to get all the way through this one.

Carla Obee

Oh no, I think this might be the first one that I skip.

Caroline O'Dea

I’m 8 mins in and had to take a break 🤮

Bob Trenwith

As someone who doesn't understand technology, could someone explain why the dark web cannot be taken down. What positive benefit does it offer. (Please don't argue from the American constitution.)

Brenda Wells

Oof. Definitely one of Casefile’s darker episodes.

AR

The thing being referred to as "dark web" isn't a specific thing, it's a type of internet protocol. Think of it as a road, a highway, rather than a place. What "the dark web" refers to is the specific underground illegal traffic being done on that highway. We use "the deep web," not "dark," to refer to all of the other stuff that happens on that highway that may be illicit or secretive (or totally benign) but isn't actually illegal or harmful. Basically we can't just turn off the internet protocol that enables the deep web for the same reasons we can't just shut down interstate highways to kill the drug trade. It's not the existence of the highway that's the problem, and the highway is impossible to just go in and destroy.

Katie McGhee

Me too I'm glad there's a warning about it. But I'm still glad these cases are covered

Ernesto Ortiz

These cases are incredibly hard to get trough but in my opinion it's important for us who have children to see what our kids can be exposed to. Great work by the team on this one

Iain Strachan

I would love to get some time alone in a room with Dr Matthew Falder. I'm not a violent person but, for him, I'd make an exception. I actually yelled out at one point when Casey talked about the video of the newborn baby. Castration is too good for these utter monsters.

Emma G

I definitely braced myself for this one, as I've heard of it before from other podcasts. Usually I listen to Casefile at night before I go to sleep, but this was a daytime angle for sure. It's hard to listen to, but it doesn't go into egregiously graphic detail on the crimes if anyone's worried about that. Can't believe they reduced Folder's sentence... he's a special kind of evil and I hate that I'm on the same landmass as him.

Minnie

Half way through and finding it hard going 😢

Moreaux Amaris

I genuine feel Falder should be on a whole life order. There are at least two people currently living who have been sentenced to a whole life order for sex crimes and I feel he is way beyond incapable of rehabilitation and arguably as dangerous, if not more so than those already serving those terms. If anyone fits the criteria it's him.

Demi V

I hope all the victims know they are loved and it was not their faults and I'm sorry they felt alone and like they couldn't get help sooner. My heart breaks for them all.

Kate Coen

The facts are awful, I struggled too.

Kate Coen

I yelled involuntarily during this episode too. Totally agree re castration.

Mr Chips

I’ve heard so many times how these dark web sites continue popping up like whack-a-mole! I’m such a curious person and love cyber forensic work that I want to know how they found Falder, though I understand why they won’t reveal their methods publicly. I wonder if prosecutors had to do that had there been a trial…

Ashley Batton

I can’t even start this one. 😩

Ashley Batton

I just want to say thanks to the commenters because I had to look through to see how bad it was. When I saw newborn baby I knew I couldn’t.

Frey Prevett

I have listened to every single Casefile episode and this is possibly the most stomach churning one I've listened to. Important to cover and respectfully done, but absolutely nauseating on a visceral level.

zoe

I feel the same, Frey. I'm not fazed by much, but this one left me feeling sick to my stomach. There are some true monsters walking among us.

AR

Since everyone is talking about how they couldn't get through it, just want to say that i thought this was just really fascinating and well done, and it's always great to see Eileen Ormsby's work getting covered on the podcast that introduced me to her work. The details were awful but not unnecessarily graphic, and the way you tied the two separate investigations together worked really well. Just a gripping, harrowing but insightful listen, a Casefile standout.

Bluechurch77

I can't listen to this one. Our world is so fallen. The darkness of this reality is too overwhelming.

Troy Janise

Most definitely a whole life term ,as he gave so who may have taken their lives. I thought 32 years was a slap in the face to those he harmed. It's like the offenders have more rights than their victims!

Bob Trenwith

I see from my email that someone by the name of Niels David attacked your response here. Did he take his comment down before anyone saw it? (I can copy it here if you want.)

Goats and a sheep Family

Thankyou for the professional and sensitive manner this case was presented in, a difficult topic under any circumstances and a pox on the perps

AR

I didn't see it, no, but no need to repost it unless you think there should be a record of it.
