Bonus episode for our Patrons!

Behind the scenes with the Host, recording Case 60: Jonestown.

It doesn't contain many spoilers, but it's best to listen to all three parts of Jonestown before listening to behind the scenes episode.

I'm so so happy that I subscribed to this show on patreon. I've never really bothered with Patreon bonuses before because they're usually not something I'm interested in, but I'm so so so invested in this show and in the obvious time and emotional labor you and the whole staff put into making it what it is. And after listening to every episode multiple times over the last year and a half or so (fwiw, I sub to the podcast through Podbean — if you haven't ever checked it out, you guys have a tiny cadre of followers there, and there are usually a few listener comments on every episode), I'm so excited to find new content like this here as bonus eps. And so excited to hear the host be a little more personal about the work than he usually gets to be. Thank you! I'm so sorry that some of the episodes drive you to the wine cabinet (but also totally understand — I'm currently opening a bottle myself to deal with today's episode, the only episode thus far that has ever made me weep.) Anyway — thank you all so much for all that you do.

Okay, I hate that Larry Layton got out of prison. I hate that people asked for him to be released early even more. A dangerous person clearly incapable of thinking for himself, nah. He should’ve rotted for what he did. Sorry not sorry.

Thank you for this bonus episode, Host! It's pretty much the best thing ever!!!

Maggyjames

That was one of the coolest things. I enjoyed it so much. It is very thoughtful and generous of you to take the time to give us a glimpse of what the process for you is like. Pod casters tell us, but you showing us was extremely unique. Thank you for the insight. 😉 Mj

This was incredible! My favorite part was when you grabbed the Shiraz at the end haha :-)

I don't think I will ever listen to any podcast in the same way again. That was a fascinating look behind-the-scenes. Kudos to the Casefile Team for putting together such a flawless final product despite all the drawbacks and stumbling blocks that everyday life throws at you. And major kudos to the narrator and Millie for the Jonestown episodes, they are especially chilling, perfectly delineated and clearly drawn.

Lmao at the host immediately going to the wine cabinet at the end of episode three. Same. Loved this look into recording the episode!

Captain Flint

Great insight - love the end with the wine!

Sam

Loved this! Kinda weird that the host is doing general chit chat. Expected him to narrated everything in third person haha.

Jamee K

So cool that you did this. I have goosebumps. I'm such an unapologetic fangirl but I'm thankful for all of your guys' effort and hard work. This just gives me a whole new level of appreciation.

Casefile

thanks Jamee, we will be doing more stuff like that in the future

Amity B

Loved this too! "F horrific" is exactly what I was thinking listening to part three on the train this week. Thanks for the insight into producing the podcast. Absolutely fascinating!

Casefile

haha, I found it weird talking into a mic doing general chit chat and well. I kept looking for the script!
