Hello everyone,

Just a quick note to fill you in on the upcoming schedule.

After a big start to the year, covering some more well known cases, we’re taking a short three week "break" from new episodes. Rather than one longer break later in the year, we’re spacing things out with shorter breaks like this.

Now for the mandatory disclaimer - we’re not actually on a break. This time is used to prepare the next run of episodes. None of which have actually even been recorded yet. The next case isn't even ready to record yet (it's very close though!) So even if we wanted to release a new episode next weekend, we quite literally can’t. Hopefully that gives you an idea of the fine margins we operate on with our production schedule.

Over these three break weeks, we’ll be releasing two re-recorded episodes from 2016 as part of our Casefile Archives series to mark our tenth year. There will also be one episode released that was previously only available to premium subscribers. So yes, that particular release won’t be new at all for you, it was originally shared on Patreon late last year, but we appreciate your understanding.

We’ll be back with Case 340 on May 23 for patreon/premium subscribers.

And for those asking, the next block of new episodes will feature no multi-part cases. All are long form single episodes.

Thank you,Casey

Thanks guys, looking forward to the re-recorded episodes! Would be great for you guys to give us a bit of a hint at what the return case may be!

Mr Chips

Thank god no more multiparters. I am not very interested in Waco or BTK so those seven weeks have been torture

Eileen

So happy you've re recorded some older episodes! That older quality is so much more jarring than now in my opinion.

Patrick

I hope they cover the one where those guys lured those cops to a street in Australia and I think shit two of them. I remember that being the case that got me into casefile but I've forgotten most of it by now!

Tessa

Thanks Casey! Appreciative of all the work you guys put in as always

David

I think I’ve re-listened to every episode at least 3 times now. It’s always good to get back into the older ones. Russell St was good too.

Neil A.

Thanks for the update guys. These cases have been fantastic this year. Keep up the good work. As always ignore all the haters. 99% of patreon subscribers are happy

Eline Mols

This sounds like a good idea! Thank you team, I really really think the episodes so far exceeded my expectations. The waco 3 parter almost felt like a movie. Keep up the good work <3

Saraneth

I wonder if you pitched these breaks as time in between seasons if that would be better understood. “Thank you for listening to 2026 season 1 of casefile, we’ll be back in three weeks with season 2”

Danny Goss

Thanks. Getting a bit sick of these multi part stories. Waco was the first one ever I haven’t bothered with. Way too much detail to even get to the event

Casefile

Hi Saraneth. Yeah we tried that once. Didn’t work. It’s easier just to write break 😀

Suicide Sauce

I'm not generally a "both sides" person but I think with events like Ruby Ridge and Waco it's important to know all the facts of what happened. Casey and the team I think try hard to be as unbiased as possible, and starting the Waco episode at "the event" would leave out a lot of the important stuff. Personally I LOVE the deep dives into cases I already know about, especially from Casey and Co, they've always got info I've never heard.

Suicide Sauce

People who complain about having to wait three weeks for a new hourlong award winning podcast would never, ever survive being a The Amazing Digital Circus fan. You wait *months* for a new episode, it's over in half an hour (less, earlier in the show) and then it's just you and the shipping wars (and the increasingly insane fan theories) for another four months. Good to know people in the peanut gallery are behaving themselves so far. I'm just gonna keep the cricket bat right here just in case though.

Corinna

This kind of opinion always confuses me. The multi-part stories are amazing. It’s one of many great things about Casefile and something you don’t get from most single-serving content in podcast format

Corinna

To each his own. They’ve been among my favorites!

Corinna

Thank you! And cheers to everything you’ve put out this year - all the episodes have been fantastic 🙂

Bob Trenwith

I'm not sure if this is a result of my suggestion, but thanks anyway. Of course we won't get the benefit until the middle of the year and Christmas/New Year, but I will hopefully be able to enjoy Casefile for at least part of my 6 week Christmas break this year. And ... while we're on my suggestions ... Trudie Adams please ...

David

Casey and team - please, some New Zealand cases. Karla Cardno, Christine and Amber Lundy, Baby Kahu, maybe the Bain murders, even Lois Tolley and Grace Millane. There’s so many NZ stories that Casefile would add such a good notion too.

Casefile

PS. The first case back is one from Australia. There is also a case from New Zealand in the next block.

DJ S

Keep up the amazing content Casefile. I’ve listened to every episode, some of them 2-3 times. I travel alot and it’s my go to.

Katherine

Thank you for everything. I have a chronic illness, and casefile is what I listen to when im struggling with sleepless nights and pain. You've been with me for a long time and have no idea what you've got me through. You were how I slept when I was in hospital for a week. Please dont ever change.

Kim Wong

Thanks for the info. I for one don't understand why people complain. I fully appreciate the amount of work that goes into research, then writing followed by recording. Just keep up the good work and ignore the moaning minnies.

Kes

Thank you for being literally the best true crime podcast in existence. As Richard Marx said, I will be right here waiting for you

David

Was I close? Even a little bit?

Tom Kerr

You’re doing great work! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Cerys B

Really looking forward to hearing some more re-recorded episodes! The ones released so far have all been fab. Thanks for the update guys, big love x

Finn O'Reardon

i'd love to know what's happening to double release episodes? when the btk series dropped premium subscribers got episode 1 and 2 at the same time. yet this was not continue with the waco series. I presume this was to stager premium and standard subscribers. does this mean that premium subscribers will no longer receive double release episodes as you have stopped doing premium only episodes, therefore standard subscribers will be left behind?

Paddy Murphy

The episodes so far have been so great im satisfied for the year. Congratulations to an EXCELLENT start to the year. I don't think I enjoyed an episode (waco) so much since the silk road.

Casefile

Hi Finn. Instead of double release, you got part 1 one week earlier.

Miajane

I honestly have been blown away by the strong start you’ve had this year. Every case has been a new favourite. Can’t wait to find out what’s next!

Corinna

Agreed!! Both Waco and BTK are rivaling some of the best like Silk Road. Hats off to that

AR

ahhhh are we finally gonna get David Bain 🙏

Jillian Zyla

What a FANTASTIC start to the season, I have been listening for 10 years and haven’t been this excited since Casey’s impromptu update regarding the Golden State Killer capture! I love the multi parters, thanks for covering some better known cases with such sensitivity and detail. Can’t wait for the next run of episodes! I don’t mind the wait, super excited for some re-recorded content as well. Thanks casefile team! You rock :)

Magz

This is getting ridiculous. So paid listeners don’t get new episodes for 3 weeks - why are we even paying? I used to ardently defend Casefile’s extensive biannual breaks, but are you guys serious right now? What’s the point of taking off half the year to “keep working behind the scenes” if you can’t even produce a small backlog of short, 30 minute episodes for paid listeners? Effing ridiculous, I love this podcast so much but they keep deprioritizing paid listener. Whats the point of even paying anymore.

IndecisiveNyx

Psh, y’all do what y’all want. It’s your show! I love it, the depth, the presentation 🙇‍♀️👏

Tessa

Then don’t pay 🙃 paid listeners shouldn’t be prioritised - we are supporting their work because we love it and already get the benefit of ad free episodes and access to a cool little community to discuss the cases. You’re not buying a product, you’re showing support for an independent team and the work they produce. Maybe you just need to change your mindset, or find a different podcast to support that aligns with your transactional expectations?
