Eli Manning

Do you guys think any of the suspects were the Zodiac? Especially Arthur Leigh Allen?

CSJ

Big hello to the team - absolutely love what you do! This is such a frustrating part of Californian history, especially as it seems there were several missed opportunities to capture the Zodiac. What do you believe are the main lessons that should be learned from this case?

Bob Trenwith

How many of the cases presented in Part 1 do you believe are actually connected to the Zodiac?

Jennifer

It wasn't clear to me why the police aren't processing and genetically tracing the DNA that they have. To say that they need to devote resources to current cases doesn't make sense, since to solve this case would be huge.

Demi V

With all of the conspiracy theories and speculation around Zodiac, how did you find the material to research? Did the notoriety make it easier to research or, because of all the conspiracy, did it make it more difficult? Congratulations to the team on all the hard work on this one!

Alexi Ele

Why didn't the police officers who mistakenly glossed over the suspicious man walking down the street after the murder of the cab driver ever assist in providing an identity match to any of the suspects?

Cassandra Hamilton

Considering how much the Zodiac has been covered over the decades; what made you decide to cover this case? How did you want to make yours stand out from others who have covered the Zodiac?

Connor Z

I noticed the narration of the setting (time and place) for each attack was altered to seemingly have a lower fidelity than the rest of the audio. I'm just curious about the decision to set it apart like that since I don't remember that being done in past episodes. Thoughts?

Alison

Congratulations on wrestling a complicated case into 4 parts! For myself, I missed the usual detailed focus on the victims & who they were as people in your treatment of this case, but I accept it’s difficult with a serial killer from the 1960’s. I was also frustrated about the lack of DNA evidence linking Allen to any of the murders. The circumstantial evidence was impressive - do the police really not have ANY DNA from any of the multiple victims to test in 2022? Why are the police so reticent? Is it because they are embarrassed by their bungling of the investigation or because of a cover-up? Well done all. From your fan in York, North Yorkshire, England.

Monica

Do you believe that any of the undeciphered letters actually contain the Zodiac’s real identity? Side note: I just joined Patreon and I have to comment I LOVE Elsha’s name. I’d never heard it before but I think it’s lovely

K Prasad

Why on earth would the zodiac killer travel all the way to the city (SF) to commit the fifth confirmed murder? Vallejo/Napa/Benicia in the 60s are small quiet towns. He commits murders on the edge of civilization in two neighboring counties, targeting couples. Then he crosses THREE counties, two bridges to a large city to commit the last on a single male in a busy city? How does this fit the profile?

Bob Trenwith

I have an (unsupported) theory that Paul Stine was an accomplice, and his murder (which didn't fit his previous modus operandi) was to tie up loose ends before ending his most dangerous game.

Celine

Your work on Zodiac was exceptional! Great job!

Matthew Drake

I enjoyed the slight change in production style during this series, with a distortion effect being used on the host's voice each time he read out time stamps. Do you plan to do this again in future episodes, or was it planned to be a one-off for the Zodiac series?

Heather Passmore

I agree that the sort of "glossing over" of the victims as people was a bit unfortunate, but I do understand. This was already a long one, even split into four parts.

Heather Passmore

I don't have any questions, but just wanted to say that you all did an excellent job with this one! I've listened to several podcasts and watched many a documentary on the Zodiac, and I have to say, this was probably the most thorough telling of the case I've heard. Great job!

Mr Chips

There are internet theories that the Zodiac is connected to the Monster of Florence… I personally find a lot of similarities with the Texarkana “Moonlight” killer. Any thoughts?

Mr Chips

How long did this take to research and write?

Mr Chips

Do you believe the cyphers contain any useful information?

Mr Chips

Can each of you share your own theory of the Zodiac’s identity or real motive for murders?

Neil A.

Hope this isn’t too late! Casey and team who do you think was the Zodiac? For me Arthur Lee Allen seems likely with all that evidence, especially the fact that it stopped after he died and stopped when he was in jail.

Mark Ofmalovia

Hi guys. Will you update us if any familiaral (if that's a word) DNA evidence comes through? Mark

AR

What do you guys think of the Zodiac hoax theory? The argument, which I once heard on an ep of Gen Why (https://podcasts.apple.com/ro/podcast/the-zodiac-killer-hoax-of-1986/id541481026?i=1000359097882) is that the killings weren't all done by the same person, but that the Zodiac letters were all written by Robert Graysmith. (I don't really buy it, personally, but isn't it wild! I also do think the idea that the Zodiac didn't exist and different killers did different crimes is one that always deserves more attention.)
