Sometimes I can't decide if I should keep an audio simple, or if I should add in more elements (more plot, scene changes, rambling, etc.) for the sake of making it longer. But I've noticed that my simpler audios usually perform better, so idk! I'd love your input :)

You can make these as simple or elaborate as you'd like; just remember that some of us use these to fall asleep, so we might not hear everything you put into them.

I personally love the longer ones—I like it when we can stay in one scenario and spend as much time as possible getting to know a character. But I can also see how that might not serve YouTube algorithms as well as it maybe works for people who listen from Patreon. So there are probably tradeoffs either way, so I think in the end what's most important is you have a story that you're happy with, since that's what drew us to the stories in the first place. No need to worry about making it longer or shorter than you feel is necessary for that story.

Sometimes I don't have time for a longer audio! Maybe you can make a second channel called AfterGlow-Gurt with short audios that are good on the go.

I think 15-20 are better length wise, with some longer sprinkled in. Maybe once a month? Complexity wise it might be easier to create some audios in multiple parts. Although that might also complicate it further. I will still listen to anything though. 🎧

When you say your simpler audios perform better, are you talking about YouTube statistics? If yes, keep in mind that the YouTube audience and the kinda people that pay for Patreon might behave like 2 different target groups, so asking on YouTube might make more sense(if you haven't already, I didn't check). Though personally I prefer the long ones

Tbh I would love to go on as long as they need to bc I love your voice sm and I could listen all day, but most likely for YT purposes it’s probably best for 15-20 minutes to be the best. Maybe more 20+ just for us? 😘 edit: I would like to preface like everyone else says though; you make them as long as they need to be. You’re a fantastic writer and doing anything more or less for the sake of making a deadline/ word count in an essay would be counterintuitive to the creative process. Know no matter what we are seated and ready to listen. ❤️

I put no preference, but I feel like I should elaborate on that: First and foremost all your audios are awesome no matter how long they are and I will listen to every single one anyways. That being said, I believe the best way to deal with the question how long an audio is going to be is just ignore the question and do what feels right and fits the story. Of course the longer the audio gets, the more we can enjoy the story and your beautiful voice, but if you try to hard to meet a certain length and that conveys a feeling of something missing or that parts of it are just to stretch the length and don’t feel natural in the scenario might ruin the immersion a little. I guess in total my answer is don’t stress about how long or short it is. As long as it’s from you it’s gonna be awesome and I don’t believe artificially changing anything will make them better 😉

I don't really have a preference. There are times when certain recordings with length become hit and miss, but it's better to give them a shot and getting lucky from time to time than not trying at all. That's my personal opinion anyway. You do what you feel is best

Don't get me wrong, I love your longer audios just as much as the next person, but I'd prefer you doing what feels right for you. If you believe there is enough substance to add to a script, add it. If not, then don't. Trying to force something in there that doesn't belong probably would be noticeable in quality and also could lead to you enjoying what you do less or even burn you out, which is a bad thing for all of us. I really appreciate and admire your wish and constant effort to improve your work. Just don't forget that what you do already IS incredible, otherwise none of us would be here supporting you...

I prefer alonger audio otherwise it can feel like it's over before it ever really started. That said don't feel overwhelmed trying to make everything as long as possible, love your audios, thank you for taking the time to make them.

I imagine that youtube casuals are more likely to fully watch the simpler videos leading to higher percentage of watch time and likes ratio etc that makes a video tick there, while ones here might be ideal at like 50% longer
