I just have to say that the funniest thing about the check is that he wrote it for 69 cents. It costs more to process the check.

Sam Elliot. Not Waterston. Waterston is a lawyer on Law and Order

(I actually saw Nacho Libre in the theater, but I have never revisited it since.) Glad you liked this so much!

YES!!!!! So glad you finally seen this. The first time I watched this at a friends house 20 years ago I laughed so hard. Then upon the second watch.... I laughed harder. Years ago I had a shirt that said "Little Lebowski Urban Achiever". LOL Upon repeated viewings something I noticed is how much foreshadowing there is. For example the picture of the nihilists scissors is shown on Maude's wall the first time the dude arrives. Something else I think is hilarious also is how so much of the dialog is interchangeable between characters. The "goldbricking ass" line was used by multiple characters in the film. The references to "aggression" and "this aggression will not stand" was used by Bush Sr. on TV but then repeated by The Dude and mentioned briefly by Walter as "unchecked aggression". I've seen Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld use this technique in the show Seinfeld as well where sometimes dialog between George, Jerry, Elaine and Kramer is sometimes interchangeable but the way the words are acted can change the intensity of the meaning.

I saw this in the theater, i remember a woman as we were leaving saying to the person she was with "That was the stupidest movie I've ever seen." And I knew she had no idea what she was talking about.

honestly, the only reason i checked out this movie at home is because, i had heard, one of my all-time favorite musicians has a small roll in this movie and i ended up loving it. this is my kind of comedy. i have seen Nacho Libre a long time ago, i need to watch it again!!! i love Jack Black. he brings so much energy and heart to whatever he does. just an all-around beautiful human being. did you know his mother worked for NASA!!! she worked on something for the Apollo program so how cool is that? Did you know that there was a pretty popular movie about one of the Apollo missions that was directed by Ron Howard and starring Bill Paxton, Kevin Bacon, Gary Sinise, Ed Harris and TOM HANKS?!?!?!?!? that movie is Apollo 13. if you reacted to that i could probably die happy. so anyways, i cant wait to hang out with you during the livestream if i can get off work early enough. see ya

Honestly, the first time I watched the whole movie was today :) I mean, I knew about it, I recognized quotes when people used them, but I never got around watching it for myself. And now that I've seen it, I am happy that I didn't see it when it was new. Not because I didn't like it but because, back in the day I probably would have seen the german dubbed version - my English just wasn't good enough at that time, and theaters here rarely show the original versions. And I suspect many jokes would have been lost in translation and would have make me dislike the movie. - German translations usually work quite well for movies, unless there are a lot of puns in it.

MotoDork

That was a late 90s corvette, not a Porsche. Built right here in Kentucky.

Upon watching this movie a second time, I found it to be a perfectly fine movie. I would watch it again, but wouldn't go out of my way to do so. I can see why this movie is beloved by many. Although, to me, I didn't find anything that was quotable. I recognized the leader of the nihilists as Buscemi's partner from Fargo. Probably had the same amount of lines in each movie.

Late to the party as always, initially this film wasn't a favourite, but I have grown to love it. Glad it found its feet with you on first watch, it's definitely a keeper.
