i am literally in hysterical laughter every time i watch this movie. the slap stick and absurd behavior of the characters gets me every time. Vegas is the perfect setting for this story, this kind of thing would be expected there. i think the part you touched on about losing the rose colored glasses is spot on. there is this image that everyone has about the American Dream and the reality is just under the surface. Great reaction, loved every minute of it.

I didn't get this movie. Probably because I found it had no direction and no end goal. I had to turn on the subtitles to understand what they were saying. Maybe because Johnny Depp had a cigarette in his mouth the whole time. I love when we see a car "driving", we can clearly see the shifter is in park.

I found this very very hard to comprehend and understand, partially why I was wondering -- can anyone make sense of Raoul's story when he's narrating his writings? haha

I think at the 52:40 mark is when you summed up this movie the best when you said "Okay these two clowns are just gonna keep taking drugs and . . ." I felt the same way when watching.

The overall message I got from the writing is that Raoul felt there was a greater significance to the acid wave of his past which was lost in his present. That movements can be bought and repackaged to trap the vulnerable in the same box they thought they were paying to get out of.
