Hey!

Today I got a tour of the Cherokee Generation station in Denver, CO. Both some of the internal workings, but mainly out in the rail yard to get some video b-roll shots.I was invited to be part of the announcement that Suntrain (yes that company that I talked about before) is getting a contract from the local energy company (Xcel) to operate one of their train consists between Pueblo and Denver. So probably within the next year we should see the full consist built out and operating.Along with this interesting news, I got to talk to abunch of different industry people including:

The Xcel CEO

Union Pacific industry partner managers

Some of the Colorado governors' staffers

And Various Union leaders

One thing that I really thought was interesting was when I mentioned the Moffat Tunnel Lease expiring in 2027 to the UP managers, they immediately took that topic dead seriously. It seems like not only do they know its a massive issue that the state can use as leverage over them, but also that they want to get ahead of any PR about that topic specifically.... So, I think I have a new video topic to work on.

Otherwise the press event went well, and the Colorado Governor seems to actually care about rail industry things, including the Front Range corridor which he brough up unpromoted.

If you want to see more about the Suntrain event that happened today here's he local news channel covering it:https://www.cbsnews.com/colorado/news/suntrain-experimental-train-car-solar-energy-union-pacific-rail-lines-colorado/

Thanks for putting up with my sluggish pace of videos recently, I'm hoping that once this trip is over I can finally get back on track. There were alot of things in my way/head when I had to plan for this trip, but I think things will be smoother sailing now channel wise.

Best,

Alan

You don’t need to apologize for the pace of content. Your first priority is to take care of yourself. :)

As a Colorado I hope this paves the future for better rail infrastructure (mostly passenger service) along the Front Range. Overall this is an interesting concept and I’m excited to learn more about it.
