The Worst Type of Train Station

Highway median transit stations seem to be a North American specialty, I wish that wasn't the case. Our Cities deserve better. Truly your best episode yet. It’s not only fun transit history and foaming, but also a useful primer I can share with my carbrained associates. Please, take more of my money.

This was the video that finally got me to cross the line, so happy to support this incredible level of content!

In Queens, NY, I've always supported extending the N elevated train to LGA with extra stations on the way to serve nearby neighborhoods. Politically, this idea hasn't gone anywhere for decades although a compromise idea of running it in the center of the Grand Central Parkway seems like the only thing that would be palatable to Astoria, Queens neighborhoods. Your video is a reminder of how awful this would be. But that said, living, working or just walking along an elevated NYC transit line is loud and the screeching sound is even painful to the ears. I've had friends tell me they would rather live next to the I-87 Deegan Expressway than next to the NYCT #1 elevated train in the Bronx. As the Deegan is horrible, that's saying something. Could you devote a video on 'how to reduce noise from elevated trains?' Here is the location I'm talking about as an fyi: https://goo.gl/maps/ojFqfpXtJAseTSQq8 Also note, an extension of the Empire State Trail plus a daylighted brook will be built in the abandoned CSX rail right-of-way alongside the Deegan here too: https://www.nyc.gov/assets/bronxcb8/pdf/2022/Tibbetts-Brook-Daylighting-CB8_052522-item-5.pdf Thanks again for all your great videos.

Next time you visit Denver. Spend seven minutes (the time for a transfer during peak hours) at the I-25 and Pearl station. I don’t know who that was a it great idea to build a ground level station, next to the interstate that was built as a trench in the neighborhood, then build a road on top of the station… It was an old T-REX project.
