after a smaller series of album cover redraws I tackled an iconic image from the cover of Joy Division's memorial album. The image is a recreation of a photo of the Appiani family tomb in Italy-- the design for the album predates lead singer Ian Curtis' death,  which went unchanged by the band upon its release. The meaning of the cover, however, was forever altered into a tribute to the artist, just as the image itself was embedded in the annals of punk and goth rock history.
