I think you hit the nail square on the head with your assessment. So much happens when people get intimate and that stuff gets passed over by the media all the time. I think its easier to objectify people without taking the emotional impact of their actions into consideration. Thats part of what I love about Grave and Ellie's relationship-that you are making it more real. Also, I like the slight hair. Seems more true to life, if that makes sense.

Personally, as a reader, I think both is good. It just lets you picture the protagonist a bit: no pubic hair makes me imagine that Ellie is someone who shaves during every single shower/bath. Just shaving it all off in one go. Light hair, on the other side pictures a version of Ellie where she tames an shapes it to her favour. The latter is actually how I would imagine Ellie to be since she is so detail oriented and loves cute things and shapes. If I had to choose, I‘d prefer the - in moderation - hairy version. This, btw, goes for men, too. 🌝
