It's not a direct sequel but it's the same universe, the animated movie "Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero" You will love it

Jay SMARTASS

This one is good but Under the Red hood is the best of the animated DC movies.

Wesley White

Can't wait, considering I've already watched your full length of this reaction 4 times already lol! Hopefully see you at the premiere of this reaction, I'm at work lol! Love and support 🥰😇🙏😁😉✌️🌹

Matthew Brown

I hope you will react to the animated series one day

David Freese

How’d thought Luke Shywalker would be a great Joker!

Brad Enervold

The Batman song is from the wonderful Batman TV show in the 60s. You should watch that sometime. It was made to be campy and I loved it growing up. :)

Tim C

Michael Keaton I thought did a better job as Batman as far as movies Plus you got Kim Basinger and Jack Nicholson .Val Kilmer was good to. Although the original Catwoman from tv series was the Best Catwoman. Julie Newmar

Maria Soberanis

Different but iconic Batman theme for the cartoon than 60s campy Batman.

Shad Kanyak

Curious if you’ve seen any of the cult classic fantasy films of the 80’s like Dark Crystal, Legend, Labyrinth or Neverending Story?

Jason Murawski

How about a Batman the Animated Series poll kinda like you're doing with Star Trek!? Shorter episodes, can cram more in. (plus its better than star trek *GASP*)

D.M. Lipkin

Kevin Conroy's Batman and Mark Hamil's Joker are universally beloved, starting in Batman: The Animated Series, and reprising those roles across various properties for close to 30 years. Kevin Conroy tragically passed away from cancer in 2022, but not before playing Bruce Wayne in live action for the first time on CW's Batwoman in 2019.

I’m sure this has been pointed out but just incase… This movie a continuation of a TV show called “Batman The Animated Series” which many, myself included, consider to be the greatest Batman anything. That show created an entire universe called the DCAU (DC Animated Universe) where connected shows shared a vast continuity and storylines. This was the MCU before there was an MCU. It all started here with this Batman animated series. Incase you’re wondering the DCAU contains Superman The Animated Series, Justice League, Batman Beyond, Justice League Unlimited & Static Shock. There’s also numerous movies, including what you just watched, Batman Subzero, Batman Beyond Return of the Joker and a few others. Oh Batman The Animated Series is the show that created Harley Quinn. Kevin Conroy is often considered the greatest Batman. Which I agree with, and unfortunately we lost him last year. He had a great run as Batman. RIP! Mask of the Phantasm was released around Christmas 1993. It was originally supposed to be a direct to video movie but at the least minute, Warner Bros liked what they were seeing so much they changed it to a theatrical film. Unfortunately the film bombed at the box office. It just wasn’t marketed, there was no toys, nothing. Infamously Siskel & Ebert reviewed the film 2 years after it was released in theatres when they found it on home video and loved it so much they reviewed it as a home video title, something they rarely if ever did. Warners didn’t even have a press screening for the film for critics when it was released.

Sorry to keep giving you assignments, but I have to second the motion that you at least dip your toe into the original 60s TV Batman, which featured that theme song you referenced in all its glory. The episodes were made in pairs, and the great thing about that is that you can experience the very special way they had of closing the first of the pair with a cliffhanger and telling you to watch the next episode. It's hilarious and iconic. In fact there was also a movie based on that series, made in 1966, that is very much worth your attention as well. It's campy, true, but Cesar Romero was a legitimately good Joker, and there were also three different Catwomen who all brought something special to the role. But yes, you ALSO have to watch some of the Batman Animated Series of the 1990s. However, assuming you've seen the Keaton and Bale Batmen, you can safely skip the rest of the live action films (Clooney, Kilmer, Affleck, Pattinson etc.) So many Batmen; so little time.

Nathan Jasper

I love this movie so much, it was my favorite Batman animation for a long long time. But in the spirit of one upping ourselves, let's do one that's a bit darker next time. The Killing Joke perhaps?

Nathan Jasper

Meh, it's really good but it's not the best.

Don Dunco

Some of the episodes were 1 hour. Most were 2 parters that went for 1/2 hour each. If she watches them all, do you think Cassie'll figger out where Batman was hiding the batzooka the one episode? I haven't. Have you?

Trevor Rotan

I always think of Star Wars when I see the Joker in this cartoon, I don't know why.

Clay F

Did Kevin Conroy portray Batman other than by voice? I see he died at age 66. R.I.P.

Stan the Man

He did. The CW had a Crisis on Infinite Earths with its Flash show and there were cameos by Ezra Miller, the smallville cast, Brandon Routh and Kevin Conroy as Bruce Wayne/Batman. I never watched but I know he appeared in a cameo

Chris Davis

Next up, Batman: Sub-Zero! It's a shame that did not continue with these, as they were so well written! I know there have been Justice League movies and other Animated Batman stuff in the last 20 years, but these two were the best, in my opinion

Chris Thom

That opening theme is so epic and iconic. Danny Elfman is magical.

djKENTO

Except that's not Danny Elfman. That's Shirley Walker, the woman who basically helped Elfman through his career. She orchestrated for him and conducted all his live recordings. Elfman's theme is similar and Walker takes inspiration from it, but all this music in this film is all Shirley.

Chris Thom

Yeah was just reading about her. Would say I'd never heard of her...but actually I vaguely do remember her name coming up over the years in articles. She had some great collaborations and solo work. Impressive career.

Chris Thom

Actually scarier seeing it come out of his face. lol

djKENTO

She mentored Hans Zimmer from being in a band to being a composer... That's a 10/10 life right there.

You are borderline spamming this comment section. Relax. You are coming off a little strong. Dial it down. Breathe.

Since you enjoyed this incarnation of Batman, I think it would be worthwhile for you to explore the television series. It is widely regarded as the best Batman material ever produced.

Mitch M

I would love that. The DCAU is really fun and a great way for people who don't read comics to get access to some great comic stories that they'd never risk making live action films about. I've hardly seen anyone react to them. I'd second Under the Red Hood, but the Flashpoint Paradox and the Death of Superman are stellar adaptations as well.

Mitch M

Oh, man, Dark Crystal and Legend (but please, God, not the director's cut of Legend).
