Edwin

Would love it if you watch The inner light with Carly. No need to be a Trek fan to watch it and the story is just beautiful. She would enjoy it and you would have someone to talk to about it after watching it

Daniel Johnson

That’s a great idea! She’s probably already seen it, though.

Edwin

Popcorn… in bed… in pijamas! 😂😂😂

SnabbKassa

The communicate like us but entirely with gifs and memes!

I forgot Ashley Judd is in Darmok. I am in the minority, but I just don't like Darmok. Anything that makes us think about language and the "universal translator" is not a good thing, because the universal translator exists just to service the plot. Like in Unification no one can tell they are human but they clearly don't speak Romulan? So in Darmok the proper names and prepositions get translated but not the meaning? I guess I'm overthinking it! Glad that Cassie liked it. I had almost forgotten Unification brings back Sela, though her plans don't see great? She thwarted by Picard/Data again: 0 for 2.

Just Plain Bob

You’re not overthinking it, the writers under thought it. I had those same problems when I saw this episode thirty years ago. I was surprised it did so well in the poll. I thought it was one of the weakest episodes of the entire series.

Anthony Carlson

Paul Winfield, the actor who played the Captain of the USS Reliant in the Wrath of Khan, played the alien captain in Darmok.

Tim C

Glad Darmok made the List !Watching your live Goodbye Girl is a good Movie worth a watch and original Possedin Adventure 1973.

ContrabandDonut

"Perhaps you'd be happier in another job." A weird burst of outright humor from TNG

K, Zachary

Oh I need listened to the full length episodes. Oh well CASSIE! Another three episodes I listened to unfortunately I had to cut Paramount+ in order to save for my tattoo but. I read the synopsis and listened to you as I fell asleep. The weird part was I had Star Trek dreams 🤔 Weird.

D4RK

NGL, nothing can be funnier than Picard trying to sleep on a Klingon ship with Data staring in his direction :D

Joe Jupiter

Very glad to see you enjoyed these episodes. They're also among my favorites. Fun fact: you've seen the Tamarian captain in "Darmok" before, kinda. He was played by the great Paul Winfield, who also played Captain Terrell of USS Reliant in "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan."

Mario Perez

Gotta watch the “inner light” it’s important to Picard’s arch. Love all your TNG reactions!

Mario Perez

I think that episode is considered by many to be one of the best of the whole series

NSG MMA

Warming up for season 6. RELICS, Tapestry, Birthright and Second Chances. 👍 Thanks for the great content.

David Freese

It’s coming in the next batch of episodes

David Freese

It won the poll at the end. So hopefully very soon she’ll watch it.

Mario Perez

Great, really looking forward to that one!

Scott McSorley

I feel like the fifth and sixth seasons of TNG are just banger after banger when it comes to the episodes

BRT

I hope one of the episodes you watch on your own is S3E23 "Sarek", the story concerning the mind meld between Sarek and Picard. Also go back to TOS for S2E10 "Journey to Babel " which introduces Sarek and Spock's mother Amanda. Sarek is played by Mark Lenard in all episodes. Concerning familial episodes, I'd like you to see TNG episodes S1E11"Haven" S2E19"Manhunt" S5E20 "Cost of Living" which all include Lwaxana Troi, Deana Troi's eccentric and flamboyant mother. Lwaxana seems to be a polarizing character among the fans but these sorts of characters and stories are integral to the overall Trek universe and experience, and in this case also helps elaborate on Deana's character. Lwaxana is played by Majel Barret Rodenberry, who also played Nurse Chapel in TOS, and Number One in the original pilot Episode "The Cage"

BRT

...and Picard's spidey sense detecting the stare😂

K, Zachary

So where does she go next Deep Space Nine or Voyager? because DS9 was a spinoff of STNG. 🤔🤷

john reed

got to be DS9 first

Kharak

she already reacted to 'Sarek'

It was an interesting episode but it did have some flaws. There are some cultures on Earth that speak in metaphors. When Europeans first interacted with the Aborigines of Australia, there was confusion. (When a tribesman says something like “the kangaroo is my elder brother” he’s actually referring to some complicated kinship with kangaroos in the bush that implied usefulness to each other.) The flaw in the concept of this episode is that in order for children to be raised to adulthood and communicate with the metaphors and references, you DO need to have basic language first. The parables have to come later after the rudimentary language syntax is already there.

David Freese

Already been said that it’s the TNG movies then Kelvin movies. Unfortunately right now DS9 and Voyager aren’t on the table for reactions

K, Zachary

I see..... Well thanks for letting me know about that I will get started on those. Oh my gosh NIN version of Hurt sucks compared to Johnny Cash's version and Trent Reznor was the one who originally did it. Listen to what a vocal coach says about it https://youtu.be/8JJIHIy4Nxg?si=RQfDt0kkcpfTUbc2

Cassie, it’s unfortunate that you missed certain key episodes in the earlier seasons. Picard referred to a Klingon delicacy called “Gag” (pronounced Gog), that was in reference to an earlier episode in season 2 when Riker was preparing for his exchange tour aboard a Klingon ship, and trying various Klingon foods, and “Gag” is Klingon serpent worms, served often raw but preferably still alive. The fat Ferengi was your first view ever of Ferengi and you missed every episode from season 1 onwards with them, ooooh so creepy, greedy, kinky, and opportunistic. Uggh, that’s why they are so interesting characters.

Just Plain Bob

There’s another issue as well. Speaking in metaphors/parables, as they do, greatly limits their capacity to convey detailed information. How do you explain complex ideas? How do you explain the design and functionality of a warp drive, for instance? Without that ability, it would be impossible to build on what you’ve learned and advance technologically from one generation to the next. If the writers wanted to do an episode about the importance of communication and cooperation, they could have simply put the characters in a situation in which the universal translator was broken and they were temporarily cut off from their ships.

Mark White

Hi Cassie, great reaction as always. I SO do love your trek reactions and how into Star Trek you have become. I can not wait for the episode ‘Relics’ it’s bound to be highly voted for and you will love it!

Just Plain Bob

If Cassie ever hopes to understand the Romulan relationship to the Federation and Vulcans, she’s gonna need to watch TOS episode “Balance of Terror.”

Chrissonator

In fact, the "streaking effect" to the credits was added in TNG's 5th season in honor of Trek's 25th anniversary. 😎
