Well these were a fun adventure! A plus to the costuming department! It didn't feel as "urgent" as the other two parter's but it was a fun idea to explore!!

Episodes in the reaction:

Absolutely love your shirt. I'm going to get one.

Mark

I saw that as the best ever "political" bumper sticker a few weeks ago. We could only be so lucky to have those heroes leading us! (Might pick one up myself

Tom Furze

Colonel Sanders. Laughed my head off.

K, Zachary

So they got this right. I remember in college taking a course on the Physics of Time. But they absolutely got this right. I thought Mark Twain was a great touch. I can't wait to watch these episodes with you Cassie. Yes definitely need to watch the episode Relics (Season 6). Cassie would love that episode. I have to admit just in the episodes I watched I definitely fell in love with the crew. Oh and BTW Cassie check your direct messages on Patreon. Thank you guys for helping me fall in love with this show.

Tom Furze

Time paradoxes are frustratingly fun : )

This two parter got me into San Francisco history. I've lived in the Bay Area all my life but when I learned about Jack London I got super interested. San Francisco is so special and I'm so glad that Starfleet headquarters is canonically here. The Bay Area is home to so much progress from computing and technology to civil right and Star Trek is a blend of both in a huge way. It feels right that it's here.

djKENTO

Also this season you'll cross over to when the series Deep Space Nine started. Deep Space Nine was the first time Star Trek moved from one series to the next without a gap, in fact they overlapped for two seasons. Episode 16 of season 6 takes place on Deep Space Nine and some characters move from TNG to Deep Space Nine and get bigger roles. What's interesting about DS9 is that it is a space station, not a ship, so rather than going out into the universe and finding the story, the story comes to them. This means bigger sets, more series regulars and extras and less Federation. It's a VERY interesting show and I'd love for you to take a look at a video episodes AFTER Star Trek Generations, the first movie with the TNG cast. I won't say anymore here, but DS9 has a few GREAT romances. oh and I think it has the best theme song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AA9WCHT5Pd4

Kristin

The DS9 theme music is beautiful. One of my favorites across all tv. Sadly, I don't think Cassie will watch it since it's a 7 year story arc. A handful of episodes each season isn't enough to understand what's fully going on. I think she would enjoy it though.

Walter

yeah, Jerry Hardin's portrayal of Mark Twain was definitely turned up to 11

Ike

I have to agree that the actor who played Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) made an odd choice of vocal inflections. I don’t know if Mark Twain actually sounded that way or if he made it up on the spot - but it was grating in the 90’s and still is. LOL BTW I was inspired from the last LIVE - so I bought two “KIRK/SPOCK ‘24” t-shirts (below it says “The Logical Choice”). 🥳

K, Zachary

I love the shirt, you can't change the past. Let's say I found a way to travel through time. I go back to August 9, 1969 and try to save Sharon Tate. Basically giving my life for hers. Something would happen that would prevent me from saving Sharon. I could never change what happened to her. It has happened. It will happen no matter what. That is part of the physics of time. I loved your reaction this is a lot of fun. Some of the gifts you get are simply awesome. I have been told not to think to hard about giving you gifts. I have a new Vlog btw you get a lot of praise and a lot of promoting.

FleetAdmiralJ

Haha, you know it's good when Cassie is like "screw a reaction to part 1! Straight to part 2" Season 6 thoughts: There are 14 or 15 potential episodes here, but only two that are probably guaranteed to get through: Relics and Chain of Command. My *guess* is that the other two winners will be Rascals and Tapestry. I would at least urge people to consider Schisms, though. A very mysterious and creepy episode. My predictions are the first vote will be: Relics Rascals Chain of Commands toss up between A Fistful of Datas and Ship in a Bottle for the 4th spot second vote will be: Tapestry Birthright Second Chances Toss up between Starship Mine and Lessons And as I said above, final vote will be: Relics Rascals Chain of Command Tapestry Although I think Second Chances has an outside chance of getting picked instead of Rascals.

djKENTO

Yeah I don't expect her to dive into this one... but I think she'd like to see where a certain tall dark and handsome man goes between films and explain why he's where he is in First Contact. Could be fun... Plus like I said... there's a great romance there.

Fanchman

You made a comment about the Borg. I believe the events of 19th century Earth took place before the Borg destroyed Guinan's world.

FleetAdmiralJ

Yep, in Q Who I think she said it happened "a century ago"

Fanchman

Sounds about right

Wes

Favourite comment: “Kill him!… I don’t like that Colonel Saunders guy” 😂

Jeff

Ha! Cassie needs to work on her literary references, not recognizing Mark Twain as the Nom de plume of Samuel Clemens or the hotel bellboy going off to Alaska to write about his adventures (Jack London). But I do agree Twain’s voice, consistent with every impersonation of him that I’ve seen, can certainly be grating.

Saucy

Never thought I'd hear Cassie call for the death of Mark Twain, lol.

Scott Macaulay

Another fun episode! I managed not to let Cassie get me all teary eyed in this one. I love how she gasps with joy at new outfits. It's great getting a female perspective on Trek. Maybe I can use these reactions to get my girlfriend to relent and watch it with me.

Steve Holton

Thanks Cassie. This was fun. The reason people cannot wrap their brains around time travel to the past is that it is only possible by known laws of physics if the time travel is unable to change anything. And since that is only possible if the time travel creates another universe (Or timeline), fiction written with past events making changes to one’s own future is impossible. If time travel to the past were possible at all, if a person went back in time and suggested Ben and Cassie launch Popcorn In Bed a few years earlier, only the people of the new universe created would see that benefit. The time traveler returning to his own time (His original universe) would see that nothing changed.

2-Can

When the Large Hadron Collider was being readied for its first demonstration, it suffered a series of unexpected glitches which prevented it from being able to work as intended. These glitches were numerous and caused serious delays to the start of operations - to the point that some of the scientists (jokingly) suggested that perhaps the glitches were caused by the future, which knew that successful operation of the collider would cause a chain reaction which would destroy the universe. I always appreciated their humor in the face of such challenges.

K, Zachary

Well put , well put. Star Trek can be a lot of fun and Cassie's reaction to it was fun.

Cody Nelson

As long as "Relics", "Chain of Command", and "Tapestry" make the cut I'll be happy. Though I do hope "Ship in a Bottle" makes it.

David Freese

I keep asking since Cassie cant watch it reaction wise because you can’t pick and choose for Ds9 that she at least watch it on her own maybe just a couple of hours a week.

David Freese

Both Episodes of Chain of Command will count as one episode if picked and season finales are usually automatically seen now .

MikeLL

I fear that the whole situation is the fault of the American educational system. If the average person today (and I consider Cassie the stereotypical "average" person, well of course she isn't, but) doesn't know that Mark Twain was the pen name of Samuel Clemons, what is the American educational system teaching people now, it certainly isn't literature and history? (Just a hypothetical question, please I hope no one tries to answer that question!)

Seven Coughlin

This was a fun finale and premiere! Can’t believe we’re already on season 6!

MikeLL

Great to watch any new Trek episodes with Cassie. These episodes were particularly funny to watch with her as she pieces together who "Clemons" is (I have a comment about that above), and she sees the crew back in time. Nothing better than to watch some Trek with Cassie!

Andrew Buel

"Well, I guess we have to kill him." Cassie, I think you've been hanging around Klingons too long. XD Glad you found moments to enjoy in this 2 parter. It's not as gripping a story as the others but I like it. I guess I'm only slightly higher on Samuel Clemens/Mark Twain. I like how he fits into the story but his voice can get old. At least he warms up to the future by the end. Again, I hope your season 6 polls has the TWO 2 parters compete against each other so the winner either gets in the final poll or just gets a bye to the end. If not you're going to be watching 8 episodes again anyway and only 2 of them will be stand-alone stories. Thank you for the content! On to Season 6! Engage!

Andrew Buel

Also, I think I've uncovered Cassie's Star Trek nemesis: Samuel Clemens wearing Klingon armor in the council chamber. XD

WastedPo

The YT channel "Newbie Star Trek" were critical of this episode. While I enjoy it a lot more than they did, I thought a lot of their ideas for how the episode could've been improved were legit. For one, they thought the writers should've dwelled on the Enterprise crew trying to fit into the time period, because that "fish out of water" stuff is why these plots are fun. They suggested that Troi should've used her powers to become a fortune teller to earn them rent money. (As it is, the episode totally skips how the crew even got their clothes.)

Samuel Champ

William Gillete (sp) was an actor who grew up in Mark Twain's neighborhood. He recorded a voice impression of Twain in the 1930's. Sounded nothing like this. Much deeper and slower. The video I saw said it was probably the closest to how his voice sounded. Thanks for the reaction, season six will be tough to pick.

Kelly Oehlschlager

She’s from Canada, so you can’t blame the US educational system on her not knowing Jack London. Some people just don’t know writers’ names well. I felt bad for her when she missed the references in the moment because it would have made them more fun for her. But, now that she knows about them, she can do her own research and learn more about them. And that will be fun for her.

pickupthepieces

To that channel, it's easy to criticise after the fact with time on your hands. The writers had to produce 26 scripts per year. It's amazing we had so many great episodes as it is I think. To your example, it's probably a time issue. They always had too much footage and to cut it down to 43 minutes you have to make choices. And seeing as we already had the same trope with Data in the first part, there was no need to repeat it as it would be repetitive and better to use that time to further the story along. Even though it did happen fast, the audience can fill in the blanks. Also there were enough other moments with the crew being a fish out of water, but in scenes where the story was going forward.

WastedPo

Oh, I definitely get it. I was just sharing their Troi/psychic idea because I thought it was interesting. It's actually insane to think about (especially in the context of streaming series in which the ENTIRE series lasts for 6 episodes) that the standard for TV used to be 26 episodes per season. Even with that time crunch, I often think that the writing on those classic series is still often better than newer/current shows. And while I do enjoy the aforementioned "Newbie Star Trek," they sometimes annoy me with how hyper-critical they can be.

Stephen Dias

"I don't want to be annoyed by Mark Twain!" Love it! I thought Jerry Hardin did a great job in this role, but yeah, I get it. The voice can get grating after a while. Also, I think I've only ever read one Jack London (the other author in this episode) novel, but now I want to read more. Hey, look! It's Marc Alaimo again!

Stephen Dias

I suspect Jerry Hardin was doing his impression of Hal Holbrook's take on Mark Twain from his Broadway show.

Joseph H Searles

The bellboy who helped Data, Jack London, was also a famous novelist. His most famous works include The Call of the Wild and White Fang, Both set in Alaska and the Yukon during the Klondike gold rush.

Bammer

I know you've got a lot going on with the channel, but keeping on with Star Trek, after TNG, do you have any plans for watching "key episodes" of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine?

Tony Andarian

Suggestions for Season 6, in order: - Chain of Command, Part I - Chain of Command, Part II - Tapestry - Relics If you want to add 1 or 2 more, as with season 5: - Realm of Fear - Second Chances

Katie Jackson

Second Chances in season 6 is the most Cassie episode of the series. I hope we get to see her reaction to it

Katie Jackson

That's only 3 episodes. She's counting 2 part episodes as 1

David Freese

Dustin from what I understand she doesn’t have plans for it but it can change. But I did ask her to watch some on her own because I think it’s as good as TNG if not more.

Katie Jackson

Cassie, you should react to The Time Machine. A great scifi movie about time travel & an explanation for how it works(sort of). The Original story is by H.G. Wells. Definitely recommend

Kristin

Which time machine? The original or remake?

Katie Jackson

I like both so I'm good with either one

Marcos

I feel like Data never appears to be that good at poker when he plays in TNG? Maybe he is better against 19th century opponents. Or he's stacking the deck... It's Gul Dukat there at the poker table! Never noticed that before.

Chris Retzlaff

I will say they did a nice job with Character arc, it was a good nod to Roddenberry and his vision of what the future should be.

Chris Retzlaff

Maybe we can use a couple season 7 spots for season 6...there's at least 14 episodes that are reaction worthy 😂😂 let's do the normal amount of episodes and then Relics and Second Chances be bonus episodes🙏🙏🙏

David Freese

As much as Time travel works here I still like the string theory hypothesis of Quantum Leap where all points in time connect to other points in a person’s lifetime

Tony Andarian

I wasn't sure she'd committed to that on an ongoing basis. That's why I added an extra or two in case she had.

HollyWas

The Bellhop was also a famous author from that time. Jack London, was an American novelist, journalist and activist. A pioneer of commercial fiction and American magazines, he was one of the first American authors to become an international celebrity and earn a large fortune from writing. His most famous works include The Call of the Wild and White Fang, both set in Alaska.

Matthew Gibson

I can just see the headlines now: "Canadian YouTuber calls for the death of Mark Twain." Lol. Seriously entertaining watching you try to figure everything out. I remember as a kind reading Tom Sawyer and starting with the Bio of him at the beginning of the book and seeing his real name and thinking "Star Trek got it right!"

Allan Rumberger

Begging people not to vote Chain of Command. Absolutely begging. Relics, Rascals, Tapestry, and Lessons, please! PLEASE!

FleetAdmiralJ

I think I've settled on what I am going to vote in the two polls: Poll 1: Relics (duh) Chain of Command (duh) Rascals (I think Cassie would really enjoy and just a fun ep) Schisms (seemingly not a fav around here, but it is a creepy and different episode that would be fun to watch her react to) Poll 2: Tapestry (probably a duh, at least among this poll) Starship Mine (good and tense episode) Second Chances (also probably a duh for this poll) Timescape (I see this as a Cause and Effect like episode for Cassie - something to really freak her out in a reaction lol)

Katie Jackson

I had asked her about doing a reaction to a few of the themes from the series, maybe on Instagram. I'd love to see her reaction to the Intros of DS9, Voyager & Enterprise. A fun 10 minute reaction

MikeLL

You don't have to beg me! I never planned to vote for it, and am perplexed as to why so many think it is a must have. But you are violating my "no Q" rule here! 😂

MikeLL

Oh, that's right, Kelly. I would delete my post out of sheer embarrassment, but it's too late! (But I am sure about the American education system anyway. 😂 I need to ask my fellow younger co-workers if they know who Samuel Clemons was!)

Allan Rumberger

CoC is s great 2-parter, but I'm a strong advocate for choosing episodes based on what Cassie would enjoy watching most. That's basically my only criterion.

Alan Kobb

Kind of a fun episode. There's a lot of TV and movies that include Samuel L. Clemens because his reputation was that he was much like this, a boisterous man who talked about the distant future, but was a bit nosey. Fun trivia. In case you were wondering why Troi has darker skin in the 2nd part, Marina Sirtis got married between the 5th and 6th seasons and went on a honeymoon, so it must have been someplace with lots of sun...

David Freese

DS9 is so serialized that you can’t pick and choose. No matter who did especially at the end where whole seasons are devoted to one arc. So I know what your trying to say but this is one series that has to be watched from beginning to end and I don’t think Cassie would have time to watch it all for reactions but she can watch on her own because I think she’d love it.

Rick Williams

Cassie, Mark Twain was the pen name used by Samuel Clemens. You probably shouldn't watch Dr. Who. You seem to have trouble understanding time and moving about in it. Time travel can be confusing. Good reaction.

Robert da Spruce

Note to self: Don’t send Cassie the Mark Twain autobiography for her next live 😉

ButtercupsTrueLove

I think I've figured out why Cassie is so cold whenever she is filming a reaction - that room is actually a cold storage meat locker in the part of the room that we cannot see.

Fabian Carrimon

Oh my goodness, Cassie sometimes you just make me smile. Col. Sanders...lol.

p0sthum4n

Second Chances and Lessons. Unfortunately I don't see Lessons winning a poll.

Clay F

I love DS9 and would welcome her reacting to DS9 episodes, but may be more confusing to skip episodes in DS9 compared to TNG. My guess is after the TNG movies, her next ST will be to react to the Chris Pine ST trilogy.

Clay F

Good reaction. I agree with you about Riker = awesome. That is Mark Twain. His actual name is Samuel Clemens. His pen name is Mark Twain. "... the future turned out pretty well." That's what I like about Star Trek. I prefer to view that as more likely for humanity than a doomsday scenario. As others have commented, cool shirt.

Jerrod Acree

Does anyone else get that the bell boy was the author Jack London?! Call of the Wild & White Fang?!

Bernie Zwicky

If you’re looking to watch another Star Trek movie, then you might want to check out “First Contact”. It has the same cast of characters as The Next Generation, and has quite a bit of action, as well as a lot of humor throughout! The remake of Star Trek (2009) is also a lot of fun to watch, with lots of humor and a whole new cast playing the same characters…great effects as well 😊
