Hey guys!

Ok so our Poll for a Poll resulted in a Runner Up Poll! Yay for the "if your not first you're last" picks! ;)

We are going to do things a bit different for these polls! There will be 2 Polls, but this time the winners won't face each other in a final poll. Instead, I'll watch the winners of both polls.

In this first poll I put more of the "heavy hitters" movies that I expected to win if I put them all together. The Second Poll will be kind of an underdog poll of our runner ups. Does that make sense?

Ok so TWO Polls TWO Winners! Vote Away Vote Away

ps-I did not include all runner ups of every poll, I also excluded some that I am already planning on watching very soon!

Comments

Bill Maurer

Went with "The Killing Fields". Hard movie to watch but best movie about the horrors of the Khmer Rouge.

Wes

I love KKBB but I kind of want Cassie to save that until Christmas. RDJ and Kilmer are gold!

Gábor Árki

I don't have but one pick in #1, but all of these please 😄

Phil Stubblefield

Ronin! Great action movie, with one of the top three car chases ever filmed!

William Brownlee

Hard to believe "My Fair Lady" isn't higher. A true classic. I like Sister Act, also. Wish you could watch both.

Uncle Phoenix

Love RDJ; but KKBB has to be the weakest of the lot, for Cassie. (Not for me personally; but I would love seeing Cassie watch any of the others more.)

dachen13

You can’t leave cinema Paradiso out… 😭

Matt Rose

HIGHLANDER. Please...HIGHLANDER, finally. Also, KKBB.

pickupthepieces

Omg, The Killing Fields on a poll. One of my favorite movies. Sadly it's getting little love.

Matt Rose

Two great car chases!

Jeff Rogers

Couldn't disagree with you more. It's a really good movie, TBR Schmidt and wife considered it one of the favorites they've watched on their channel.

Just Plain Bob

“Sister Act” is where comedy goes to die. Terrible movie, vastly overrated.

Matt Rose

valid point...better to save for Christmas.

Matt Rose

'Nuns. No sense of humor'.

Godzilla Jones

Is Highlander a *good* movie? No. Is Highlander nevertheless the best movie ever made? Obviously.

thansen

Please. No Sister Act.

Jeff Rogers

Kiss kiss bang bang is a great deal of fun, I wish they would do a sequel... And was a big part of the image rehabilitation of Robert Downey Jr. (Yes, I realize that Val kilmer's health means they could never do a sequel)

Rosario Cicero

I went with The Killing Fields ‘cause it would continue her edification of the Vietnam war

Just Plain Bob

It won an Academy Award for “The Best Movie Ever Made.”

Ike

I just found out that Whoopi Goldberg is 1 of only 19 people with an EGOT - Emmy, Grammy, Academy (Oscar), and Tony award. So, “Sister Act”, and “Ronin”.

Daniel Allen

Agreed. Easily my top two picks on this poll.

Yeji Shin

Haven't seen My Fair Lady in FOREVER. It's one that I grew up with, and I think Cassie would thoroughly enjoy!

Todzilla

Yeah we got to get Highlander to beat out Sister Act.

David Kent

Highlander isn't bad but went with My Fair Lady. It's on my watch list as I haven't watched it yet.

Richard Maurer

As I predicted, The Fly, even though it came in second by one vote, is not in either poll. Maybe it will get watched in October, hopefully without a poll needed. Anyway I voted for Hidalgo, which won't win.

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Oh please, PLEASE, let Highlander (1986) win the poll. Along with Flash Gordon (1980), it had the unique honour of having the brilliant Rock legends, QUEEN, to write and record songs for the film. Princes of the Universe, A Kind of Magic, One Year of Love and Who Wants to Live Forever were inspired directly from the band watching a rough cut of the film. I'm a huge Queen and Highlander fan, I have the DVDs of all their music videos along with DVD commentary by Brian May and Roger Taylor. On the commentary, Brian May says of Highlander (1986): "I love the film! I think it's a timeless film and I'm so glad we had the opportunity to work on it!"

Movie Maestro

Killing fields is great. But anything with AHEB can’t be missed

Daniel Allen

Well said Jeff Rogers. I'd say Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (along with Shane Black's other comic masterpiece, The Nice Guys) is one of the funniest movies of the last couple of decades. It's one of those films that isn't strictly a comedy, but is still WAY funnier than most strictly comedy films - it's close up there with Raising Arizona as one of in my all time favorites for moments of absolute comic gold.

K, Zachary

So I have an Idea World War 2 week why don't you do the movie Greyhound with Tom Hanks which you promised to do when you went to MI7 and then Oppenheimer which you said you were going to but haven't done. Then you do the poll Eva and I did with the help of other patrons: 1. The Pianist (2002) This is a very hard watch. 2. Conspiracy (2001) 3. Defiance (2008) 4. The Boy In The Striped Pajamas( 2008) 5. Downfall (2004) 6. Flags Of Our Fathers/ Letters From Iwo Jima Poll B 1. Operation Mincemeat (2021) 2. The Imitation Game (2015) 3. The Zookeeper Wife (2017) 4. The Reader (2009) 5. The Book Thief (2013) 6. Anthropoid (2016)

Richard Maurer

Best movie ever made? When did they start calling LotR Highlander?

Richard Maurer

Almost anything in this poll is better.

Dean Holt

There Can Be Only One, but unfortunately I want five of them to win 😂😂

Just Plain Bob

It’s a Talladega Nights reference, which is what I believe GJ was getting at.

Richard Maurer

Never saw that movie, not really my thing.

Jon

To me, the best thing about Highlander, apart from the Queen music, was the very original idea. As a film, it's really not that great, and the sequels just get worse.

Caomhan84

The Killing Fields is an exceptional film that hardly gets talked about these days. Even though It's a tough watch, that's the one I voted for.

Lucien

The Highlander is really an unusual film in a good way; creatively shot and well cast, it tells a tale that is truly romantic. My Fair Lady is so up your alley that I'm having a hard time believing that you haven't seen it. It's both charming and amusing and has stunning production values; a fun film that I watch often as a veritable old bachelor myself (Higgins is such an eminently practical and sensible soul--qualities for which we should all strive;)

Richard Maurer

Maybe it's because I'm coming down from the high of the Godzilla films, the Classic Horror poll, and Logan, but I'm finding these two polls, and especially the films winning them, depressing

Richard Maurer

Like most sequels it's best to forget they exist.

Dirk-Jan (DJ)

Well, if you are going to watch Crocodile Dundee 2, Carly has to be there as well. This one is equally good as the first. Maybe even slightly better. And if it doesn't win the poll, just keep the dvd nearby. It's a gem.

Nick Ireland

When it comes to movies you would enjoy most, Sister Act should be the clear winner

Tim C

Like the Sound Track more than the Movie ,Highlander but did vote for it.Honestly I preferred the tv Series more. There can be only One. Movie that followed the tv Series was awful though.

Art of Free Speech

Given Cassie's love of RomComs and her belief that certain movies about history, regardless of how difficult to watch, need to be watched, I registered votes for both Killing Fields and My Fair Lady. Of course, that means they will both be in the bottom half of votes received.

D. T. Nelson

Cassie, the fact that Hidalgo is so low on the poll tells me you need to make it a PPOTM. Of all the movies in this poll it is the one I think you would enjoy the most.

Richard Maurer

"Not as great as I remember" - yeah that pretty much sums up Highlander. But if it's still close between Highlander and Sister Act at the end of the poll I'll be changing my vote to Highlander, it's definitely better than Sister Act.

Mark Vaderr

Was hoping for My Fair Lady. Sister Act? Yuck!

Walter

Sister Act? You people are crazy.

Mark Vaderr

That's how it goes here on Popcorn In Bed. One moment you feel like Zeus, then the next, you feel like a serf.

Richard Maurer

If it ends up being Sister Act and WALL-E, well, that would really suck. And that'll be two reactions I won't bother to watch.

Richard Maurer

I'd like to return to Zeus level, please.

LukeG84

This was a tough one. I voted for Crocodile Dundee II in the end because it would satisfy my OCD if Cassie were to watch a sequel. Plus I think she would thoroughly enjoy it.

Mike Lemon

I kinda prefer 3 over the first one.

Richard Maurer

It would be a great thing if the people here could get over their obsession with sequels. 99% of them are bad, and a waste of the limited time Cassie has for reactions

Joe J

Highlander gets my vote, it's a classic of it's kind, and will make for an entertaining reaction from Cassie.

Chris Thom

Sister Act, My Fair Lady...and The Killing Fields. On the same poll. That's a trip.

dachen13

Don’t really feel strongly about any of these Apart from killing fields and my fair lady. Oh well

Joe J

4 days left, don't throw in the towel just yet.

Kent Theaker

Was it just me...or are clicking boxes on these two latest polls rather glitchy?

Richard Maurer

Mike Lemon coming to the defense of a sequel? Well, you know we MUST watch the first two in order to get to the the third......... ;-)

Joe J

Highlander is one of my favorite films, and would make for a great reaction.

Richard Maurer

From my experience, most of these polls are over in the first day, often in the first couple of hours.

Just Plain Bob

Agree 100%. They’re both bottom of the barrel.

Dan M

I flip flopped between Sister Act and Crocodile Dundee 2. I definitely wanted something light hearted and funny. You’ve seen some pretty tough movies recently, all of which have been excellent, and I’ve really enjoyed your reactions to them. But I love to see you smile and laugh, and I think its time for another movie that will have you doing that the whole way through. Sister Act and Crocodile Dundee 2 will both serve the that purpose. But the deciding factor for me is the music in Sister Act. Its such a great soundtrack. And what better movie for both you AND Carly to watch together than than a movie with Sister in the name?

Chris Thom

I've never seen Killing Fields...but know a bit about the true life story. You like it or hate it?

Chris Thom

Patreon has almost as many glitches as YouTube.

dachen13

It’s really good. One of the best films about photo journalists and putting you into the era and making you feel that lives are in peril.

Chris Thom

What does AHEB mean?

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

As I say, I personally think it is better for horror movies to be watched at Halloween. Just my opinion, feel free to disagree.

Dan M

Totally agree

Mike Lemon

It happens a lot, but (desktop) when that happens if you click around the start of the names, it works pretty well.

Chris Thom

Almost wish she'd just skip to Sister Act 2. Lauren Hill and the other singers were incredible in that.

Richard Maurer

One of the worst things reactors do, imo, is segregate horror into a October only thing. In the real world, horror films are released year-round, because they're popular year-round. But I have noticed a shift recently with more reactors realizing horror can get them views outside of October. This is one trend I hope makes it to Cassie's channel eventually (not holding my breath though).

Mike Lemon

There isn't a second one. Highlander is weird, it goes 1 then 3 and then it stops despite some kind of a Mandela Effect where people think there were 6 movies.

Richard Maurer

Sure Mike, sure. We're watching that second one before the third, then the three after, because bad things will happen if we don't!

Rick

There can be only one

Richard Maurer

I've found it works better if you go directly to the patreon site, rather than from a email notification to patreon.

Jason Fulbright

You know you are crushing on Mic Dundee.

Clarence Newman

Yep. If she's watching the winner of both, wouldn't it be better to have one soft and cuddly poll and one hiding behind the blanket poll? Soft and cuddly can be a lot of fun, but I also love it when the "Oh My Gosh!" meter breaks.

Mike Lemon

Don't forget Highlander the Series, Highlander: The Raven, and Highlander the Animated Series. If you insist on giving me an brain aneurysm, you may as well go all in.

Clarence Newman

OK, Croc Dundee 2 is doing less than fair dinkum. Cassie! Can you take it off the poll and throw it on the barbie with the other ones you're going to watch anyway?

D.M. Lipkin

Looks like Hidalgo is going to have to be a Popcorn Pick of the Month sometime. It's a less well known movie, so I don't see it getting picked otherwise. But how else is Cassie supposed to get her fix for grimy Viggo Mortinson? It's like someone looked at Aragorn and went "But what if he was a cowboy?"

Richard Maurer

I didn't even know there was a animated series - of course we must watch that! ;-)

Chris Thom

She would probably love it. But that might be one to save for Christmas.

Richard Maurer

I watched a reaction to it recently. It's one of the good films that don't really make for a good reaction.

René Ferland

Me too at first, but since it will lose for sure, I switched to Crocodile Dundee II.

Dan M

Very true. But can’t skip the first one. So maybe Sister Act 2 will win in a sequels poll. 👍

Joe J

Good or bad, some sequels will make for some rocking reactions, like Predator 2 for example (haha).

Dan M

C’mon Sister Act! You’re so close!

Butt Head

Highlander is rubbish, I've never seen the appeal

René Ferland

I loved that movie. I doubt it will ever win a poll.

Clarence Newman

The Croc Dundee franchise is an argument for both sides. I think 2 is every bit as good as 1, but 3 could suck an orange through a hose pipe.

Clarence Newman

Pace yourself, Dan. There's still 4 days left!

Dan M

😂Yeah, you’re right. Don’t know what came over me.

René Ferland

Which Fly? The remake or the original one? I saw the original one as a kid and it scared the hell out of me. :-) Not sure it stands the time though.

Joe J

This is Cassie, right? I'm just grateful she can make it through anything resembling a horror film for our entertainment.

Rick Rodriguez

Killing Fields is powerful. Maybe when Cassie does another War film poll.

mikethemotormouth

I don't usually rally behind movies you're likely to love Cassie, I think that's kind of the antithesis of the reason you started the channel. But I've no doubt you'd really enjoy Sister Act and it's sequel, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit

Rick Rodriguez

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang!!! Dang you Whoopi and Connor MacLeod of the clan MacLeod!

kaiielle

Voted for Sister Act and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang! 🤞

YodatheHobbit

Wow, some really bad, anti-beautiful movie taste here. Maggie Smith is worth seeing in anything and WALL-E literally prevented me from becoming an ignorant "cgi movies are for kids" type of guy. Ben Burt's soundscape alone is masterful. And it's impossible to not love Sister Mary Robert.

Robert Baldino

Ronin is the best movie in this poll, for a variety of reasons. The Killing Fields is obviously very good and an important film, but a tough hang.

Clarence Newman

Hang in there, Richard. On the last Star Trek poll (not your thing I know, but it's still a poll), there was a Battle Royale between two episodes for the final slot. The wrong one was leading for 3 days , but with one day to go, the right one took the lead and stayed there.

Ace Degenerate

YEAH SISTER ACT!! Don’t pace yourself, let it all out, I’m right there with you!

LDC7080

It has about 7 queen songs for one

YodatheHobbit

I love Brian May, but calling Highlander timeless, is HILARIOUSLY untrue. It practically shouts "I AM THE 80s!" in your face.

LDC7080

Crossing everything that highlander wins. My favourite 80s movie .

Clarence Newman

Direct quotes from the end of the original Croc Dundee reaction: Cassie: I'm a little obsessed with him." Carly: "Me too!" Well, that's settled then. Obsession overrides polling numbers.

Just Plain Bob

It’s true that CGI movies aren’t just for kids. They’re also for the simple minded (“lookit the pretty, pretty colors!”).

René Ferland

This is true for me too. Most of the time, my pick is at the bottom.

Butt Head

Greatest Hits II has about 20

Just Plain Bob

The remake. I do love the original as well, though. But it’s the remake that’s generated so much discussion and desire for a Cassie reaction.

pickupthepieces

Good to know there are kindred spirits out there in regard to this movie.

Clarence Newman

OK, Cassie just dropped a like AND a cryptic little message on your post, so I think we're getting The Fly.

Colin Gutierrez

In this particular poll, there can be only one.

Chris Thom

Lauren Hill was amazing in the sequel.

Mark White

Ok Cassie, I think Sister act will win and it should as you will love it. HOWEVER! Croc 2, Mick Dundee, you and Carly have got to watch it! Pleaseeee! With sweet chocolate sprinkles on top!! I can just about wait to the next Australia day (Jan 26th) but any longer and I might go 🤪🤪😆

Chris Thom

Finally saw Breakfast at Tiffany's last week. She was great in it.

Richard Maurer

@Clarence Newman - Seems likely, hope so anyway.

Gray

Think we're gonna have to continue waiting a while longer for that Crocodile Dundee 2 reaction at this rate , sad times :(

Dan M

Wooh! Wooh! Wooh! 👊

John A

Whole bunch of yawn here

Richard Maurer

I'm only prejudiced against movies I don't like, doesn't matter the genre, time period, animated or not, or anything else.

Dallon Maxfield

Omg please do Hidalgo it's such a GOOD horse movie!!!

Richard Maurer

Even most "good" sequels aren't good enough to bother with.

MikeLL

Wow, I really don't care much for any of the movies in this poll. Some movie lover I am, huh? So I voted for the only Classic Era movie (just barely) MY FAIR LADY (which I didn't vote for in the Romantic Classic Poll, either).

Somehiguy

I guess i'm a sucker for any of the historical films, which is why I voted for the killing fields.

Clay F

By far, my top choice is the last place "The Killing Fields" (1984) (based on true story) [Sam Waterston, John Malkovich]. Watched many times. As a young adult, I was focused on (almost obsessed with) the after effects of the actual occurrence. One of these days, I will visit Cambodia and go to sites in the capital Phnom Penh related to actual The Killing Fields. I would be happy with Highlander (1986) winning. May not have aged the greatest but I have nostalgia for Highlander (1986). Ronin, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and My Fair Lady (yay Audrey Hepburn) are good. I saw the off-Broadway play Sister Act but prefer other movies in the poll. Not a fan of Hidalgo or Crocodile Dundee 2.

Keith Jones

As a former journalist, “The Killing Fields” is just amazing, stunning, thought provoking, and a true story everyone should see, so of course it’s last. But on the other hand, I can totally live with Highlander winning this.

Clay F

My sentiments exactly, except I've never been a journalist.

Clay F

Everyone should see "The Killing Fields". By far, my top choice in the poll.

Stephen Minor

Cannot believe you havent watched Highlander yet. With the music done by Queen - it is a must

Clay F

As I noted once before, Hold Down A ("Ames") reacted to Cinema Paradiso.

Clay F

My top two picks are the last place THE KILLING FIELDS and the first place HIGHLANDER. Ronin, My Fair Lady, and KKBB are good.

Clay F

Count me as a kindred spirit. By far, my top choice in the poll.

Clay F

I have nostalgia for Highlander and thus my second choice after the last place The Killing Fields.

Clay F

I went with The Killing Fields. It actually occurred immediately after the conclusion of the Vietnam War. Camboida is adjacent to Vietnam.

Clay F

My Fair Lady is on my watchlist.

Clay F

Yeah a wink wink for The Fly in October?

Clay F

My two choice is The Killng Fields but will be happy with Highlander winning b/c I have nostalgia for Highlander, and the Queen stuff is good. Yet, this statement below could be applicable for Highlander: “It's a movie best seen through the hazy amber filter of '80s nostalgia, and if you're watching it without those rose-colored glasses on, God help you.”

Mike Lemon

Tangent to some of the discussions above- what are some sequels people consider as good as or better than the original? T2 and Back to the Future being a given and one story broken into multiple movies (Kill Bill and Lord of the Rings for example) not counting.

jdj830

The Killing Fields lost to Amadeus for Best Picture and it should have won. And I LOVE Amadeus. But Killing Fields is a very special and sadly relevant film about friendship, humanity in the face of atrocity and the quest for truth. You should all see it.

Clay F

A big +1 for The Pianist (2002). By far, my top choice in the first poll. Downfall (2004) and Letters from Iwo Jima (2006) are good. As a citizen of the world, everyone should watch The Pianist. Tough but arguably not as tough as Schindler's List. As for poll B, I would vote The Reader (2009) [Kate Winslet received well-deserved Best Actress Oscar] and The Imitation Game (2014). The Reader (2009) nominated for 4 additional Oscars = Best Picture, Best Director, Best Writing, and Best Cinematography.

K, Zachary

We listed to you and put in Downfall so thank you for that .

Clay F

Skip the sequels

Clay F

Ditto

Clay F

I will be happy with Highlander winning. May not have aged the greatest, but I have nostalgia for Highlander. “It's a movie best seen through the hazy amber filter of '80s nostalgia, and if you're watching it without those rose-colored glasses on, God help you.” Prefer over Sister Act.

Clay F

One of my recent peaks on the channel was the time around Presidents week: All the President's Men, Lincoln, Thirteen Days, and Silver Linings.

James1035

I really enjoy Ronin. Good action movie. Kiss, Kiss, bang, Bang is also good. Robert Downey Jr's favorite role

Clay F

I am not suggesting to put any weight on RT, but thought odd it got 9% on RT. Don't see many single-digit ratings on RT.

Clay F

Skip sequels. I am not suggesting to put any weight on RT, but noticed that Crocodile Dundee II got 9% on RT. Don't see many single-digit ratings on RT. Crocodile Dundee. IMDb 6.6, Metacritic 62%, RT 89% (audience 59%) --a financial success Crocodile Dundee II. IMDb 5.7, Metacritic 41%, RT 9% (audience 38%) --"Retelling its predecessor's same joke with diminishing returns, Crocodile Dundee II sees the franchise's enjoyability go down under."

mikethemotormouth

I might be the only one who thinks so but I much prefer The Matrix Reloaded to the Matrix, if only for the freeway sequence. Also Phantasm II and Predator 2, if only for the weapons but also because I think both have a much better ending than their respective predecessors I would say Home Alone 2 is as good as the first That's all I've got right now Edit: and Oceans 12 for the score

Matt Rose

Some excellent picks in there. THE PIANIST, DOWNFALL, OPERATION MINCEMEAT are all particularly strong.

Steve Holton

I like Aliens better than the first one. Wrath of Khan better than the first one. I do prefer the original Godfather, and I like Dr. No the best, but I really like the sequels most people prefer. Evil Dead 2 is better than the first one. I like The Dark Knight better than Batman Begins, but always felt it is probably a closer call for me than most. 😊

Matt Rose

Skip the cinematic sequels for sure but the series was actually quite good, especially whenever they were in Paris (which was about half of the time).

Matt Rose

Loved the series as well. Best to just watch the first film and then the series and forget about the cinematic sequels entirely.

Matt Rose

Cassie: just so you know, any of the posts stating a variant of 'There Can Be Only One' are voting for HIGHLANDER. This has been a public service announcement on behalf of all sword wielding lunatics everywhere.

Clay F

A big +1 for The Killing Fields. I think Cassie's reaction would be good. But highly unlikely would ever win a poll on the channel.

Clay F

Do on patreon site on desktop or laptop, not the app.

Richard Maurer

Maybe even outside October? Or am I asking too much?

Clay F

A big +1 for The Killing Fields. But last place.

Richard Maurer

Or we just skip everything but the first one and then move on. Yeah, I like that idea.

Clay F

The Killing Fields is such a good movie.

Richard Maurer

I haven't even changed my vote to Highlander ......yet.

Richard Maurer

Tough question. Now if you asked 'what great films had their reputations tarnished by bad sequels' I would be here writing all day. And no, I don't agree with the most common answers - Aliens is NOT better than Alien, Evil Dead is better than Evil Dead 2, and The Road Warrior and Mad Max 1 are just about equal. The four that i came up with are: Bride of Frankenstein (slightly better), Dawn of the Dead (79), Wrath of Khan, and Spider-man 2

John

Anything but Sister Act, please, lol

John

I voted Highlander too, lol

John

There can be only one Cassie

K, Zachary

We had a lot of help from you guys. We appreciate everyone's support.

kaiielle

Shrek 2 😄

David Freese

Well Back to the Future is a toss up. And if you count middle movies of a trilogy Empire Strikes Back is better than New Hope

dachen13

Ames isn’t Cassie though :(( At the end of the day she can watch what she wants. Butttttt. One can always dream.

Richard Maurer

It's better than Sister Act, which will win if Highlander doesn't.

Above Average Dave

Agree with most of the above. GODFATHER 2 is better than the first, but only slightly, IMHO. CAPTAIN AMERICA: WINTER SOLDIER may be the best Marvel movie ever made. TOY STORY 3 makes tough guys cry, even on rewatching. SPIDER MAN 2 (McGuire) is superior to the first. You folks listed all the others I could remember on short notice.

Dan M

Sorry Richard. Had to go a different route here. I respect your opinions, but I’m just looking for a change in tone. At least until October.

Dan M

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and War for the Planet of the Apes, are better than Rise of the Planet of the Apes. And Rise is a pretty damn good movie.

Richard Maurer

@AA Dave - Winter Soldier is a good pick.

Richard Maurer

And if it were anything else besides Sister Act (or CD II) I wouldn't care.

Chris Thom

I always thought Home Alone 2 was the perfect sequel. Gave you everything you wanted from the first, and kicked it up a notch. See your sad lonely neighbor, raise you two turtle doves for a charming homeless lady. Also the giant Christmas tree scene is really nice.

Chris Thom

This reminds me of the discussion from Scream 2. Lol. Where it ends with the Great Ewok Debate. But speaking of good sequels...Scream 2. October is approaching.

Vegas Paladin

Just watch the original Highlander. Ignore the sequels!

mikethemotormouth

Indeed October is approaching. How much longer do I have to wait for It Chapter Two, the second half of the story? Comparatively, how long did we have to wait for Kill Bill Vol 2? Because I don't remember

Clarence Newman

Those IMDB/Rotten Tomatoes numbers baffle me sometimes, Clay. Let's not forget, the highly mediocre Enterprise series (which many fans see as the one that ended the run of traditional Trek) ranks higher on IMDB than the massively popular Voyage Home and Undiscovered Country movies. That is nothing short of ludicrous. As for Croc Dundee 2, I voted for that one because I love it as a sequel and I know C & C would love it too.

Chris Thom

Is it super dark or something? I think it's weird I've never heard anything about it. Is it NC-17?

jdj830

It’s pretty violent but it’s definitely not NC-17. It’s about the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia, and it’s based on a true story, so it gets quite dark, but it’s not a horror movie or anything like that. It’s told from the point of view of two journalists, one of whom is played by Sam Waterston, and the other by an actual refugee from the Pol Pot regime, Haing S. Ngor, who had never acted before and won an Oscar for this role. Craig T. Nelson and John Malkovich are also in it.

Paul Stelter

I've never seen the entire movie because I'm not a musicals person, but I've seen enough to know both sisters would love MY FAIR LADY.

Mr. Crowley

Nah, do watch the sequels! 😁

Richard Maurer

@Chris Thom - Scream 1 and 2? I thought we were discussing good sequels to good movies. Sorry, but I couldn't let that one go by :-)

Richard Maurer

No, Robert was right, no need to watch bad movies.

ArsTropica

It (sorta) won a poll before but never got a reaction.

Matt Rose

'I know his name.'

MikeLL

Yeah, I had to look that up yesterday, not being in the Highlander cult myself. So many people posting this random phrase.

MikeLL

Yes, changing my vote in this poll as well. Devoted MY FAIR LADY, which won't win and I didn't like very much (should have had Julie Andrews in the title part anyway) and voted for KISS KISS BANG BANG, which would make for a very interesting reaction. #TeamAnythingbutHIGHLANDERorSISTERACT

crazyivan

As long as you don't fall for the big lie Disney pushed about it being a true story....but it's a great story anyway.

crazyivan

You can't forget Sean Connery or the best villain ever in an 80's movie - Clancy Brown.

crazyivan

You're lucky someone isn't pushing Miami Vice (series, not movie)...talk about 80's in your face!!!

Joe J

Highlander is great, looks to win the poll so many see it's appeal.

Joe J

Everybody just likes what they like, no good or bad just personal preference.

Matt Rose

I'm all on board for Cassie doing FLASH GORDON, by the way. Love that film. If you dial in on the film's wavelength, it's incredibly entertaining.

Joe J

I always just vote for what I want to see. I figure if Cassie really wants to see a particular movie she will just watch it, which she often does.

ArsTropica

I predict that Cassie will like it for the love story.

FischerMax98

Would love to see a reaction to Sister Act.

mikethemotormouth

Octokrool did it most recently 2 weeks ago and had a great time with it

Richard Maurer

I vote for the best movie in the poll, often followed by best movie I think has a chance of winning. No other considerations are necessary.

Richard Maurer

@crazyivan - There's a reason they say based on true story. When it's the true story they call it a documentary (and even then take it with a grain of salt).

Richard Maurer

#TeamAnythingbutHIGHLANDERorSISTERACT - I have bad news for you, it's going to be one or the other. For me Highlander is very much the lesser of two evils.

Chris Thom

Show us on the doll where Sister Act touched you, Richard.

Richard Maurer

I keep forgetting I'm not allowed to dislike movies that other people like, thanks for reminding me.

LDC7080

But it doesn’t have Freddie singing New York New York

Arturo

Cassie must learn what "Billongamick" means

Walter

then she should skip the first Highlander too...

Stranger2Reality

Agreed. "In the end, there can be only one."

Johnny

I'm surprised Kiss Kiss Bang Bang isn't doing better.

Stranger2Reality

It's wild to me that there are all these people who think Back to the Future 2 is even remotely close to that first movie. I think that's a generational thing though. Those of us who were adults when the sequels came out seemed to agree for years that they were both bad, but then all the kids who grew up watching them loved Part 2 for some reason. It's kinda the same as with the movie Hook, where everyone hated when it was released, except apparently for all the 5 year olds that nobody paid attention to. But then those kids grew up viewing it with nostalgia goggles and it became some beloved classic. Then the same thing happened about 20 years later with the Star Wars prequels. I wonder what crappy movies today will eventually get a similar nostalgia makeover. Maybe none cause kids aren't watching movies anymore?

JarHead0351

toally agree - it is a great story based on true events

Clay F

Yeah, skip the sequels

Dallon Maxfield

Ha yea its more of a legend. Not a true story but it sure does make for a great flick

Butt Head

You can cast multiple votes on this poll

JRCortez

Killing Fields losing to Sister Act and Highlander..... 🤦🏻‍♂️ 🤦🏻‍♂️ 🤦🏻‍♂️ 🤦🏻‍♂️

BRT

...but the series was pretty good😏

Richard Maurer

When comes to 80's movies, a lot of people have their nostalgia goggles on 24/7 around here.

Darreld Studie

If you liked Crocodile Dundee then you have to see CD 2. It is much better in my opinion. But stay away from CD 3. It is terrible.

Mark Vaderr

I disagree with this. Wall-E is a good story.

Brent Petty

Amazed that Sister Act is even in the conversation. EASILY the worst movie on this list.

Richard Maurer

Crocodile Dundee 2 is on this list. Forced to chose between the two I'd pick Sister Act, as much as it pains me to say it.

Matt Rose

Assuming HIGHLANDER wins...and it's leading as of this posting...I'd like to encourage Cassie to pair it with FLASH GORDON to get the full Queen experience.

LDC7080

His portrayal of the Kurgan if fantastic

Dean Holt

Well it’s looking like Highlander which I’m not unhappy about and it’s not really surprised me tbh. I do think she will like some of it but I can’t really see it going on her favourites list 😂. But it’s a film I think she needs to watch a should also get her some good YouTube numbers. She definitely has to watch Sister Act though as I’m sure she will love it.

ArsTropica

Like Stargate, Highlander is a one time guilty pleasure. But hopefully, the protagonists won't blow up a spaceship full of innocent children.

Walter

Captain America Winter Soldier for sure. I loved Captain America, but I also think Winter Soldier is Marvel’s best film.

Walter

Highlander is a bad choice - really cheap looking 80’s schlock (but a really interesting idea better explored in the tv series) - BUT - it’s hella better than Sister Act, so there’s that.

MotoDork

You couldn't be more wrong

Walter

😀 to each their own. I saw the film in 1986 (when I was 13) and loved it. But when I revisited it in my 20’s - well, I’ll just say it didn’t hold up for me.

Mario

Sister Act would have been a fun watch.

Clarence Newman

Moto! You just made me smile there. Purely because your post reminded me of that "Friends" episode where Ross meets his doppelganger. "You could not be more wrong. You could try, but you would not be successful."

LDC7080

Some fantastic locations and great cinematography. Brilliant score and top casting

LDC7080

I second that.

Walter

Glad you think so

ArsTropica

Highlander is a music video pretending to be a movie. Once you understand that, it's a fun watch.

OddThomas

Holy crap, Highlander actually won! Yayyyyy!

Jeff Rogers

I can't believe that kiss kiss bang bang came in behind sister act..

Pop n Lock

Sister Act and Sister Act 2 were incredibly successful films and kiss kiss bang bang is only a cult classic. It bombed hard in theaters. But yeah I'd say I prefer Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, although the first Sister Act is pretty good imo.

My_Cousin_Mose

@Clarence haha my cousin and I still use that line occasionally when we disagree.
