Happy October my goblins. I love October. Utah is a beautiful fall leaf explosion right now and I am going to spookify my house this weekend and keep pretending that it's actually sweater weather!

Thank you SO much to everyone who played Trivia Pop Quiz last night! It was SO FUN! Our biggest number for participants yet! Our winner was Mr. Stick Figure Studios Ladies and Gentlemen!! Round of Applause! He has shared his 5 picks for me on Discord I believe. Should we poll it or should I pick? A HUGE UGE thanks to It's Me Dave for putting the quiz together meaning I could participate! cough cough 33rd place cough cough.

This week we have our TRICK or TREAT poll winners and The Village. I am not totally sure what to expect from any of these and have seen quite the mixed bag of comments about them! Both polls were very close so I am going to try and squeeze in our runner ups as well!

I also posted Week 2 of Trick and Treat Polls (2 seperate polls) so go vote away on those! October is going to be PACKED, we are going to make the most of spook season!

Reminder that this week is our YT LIVE! Packages, giveaways, polls, AMA and fun! I will be donating all proceeds to help people with recovering from Hurricane Helene. I am devastated by the damage I am seeing, and people still stranded and no communication. This time of year is supposed to feel cozy in your home and so many people lost everything in an instant. Is anyone in this community from the areas that have been affected?

Hope you all have a great week, clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose!

Cassie

I don't understand the infatuation with "the haunting of Hill House" that all the reactors are going through right now. It's just a freaking ghost people. Get over it.

Gray

Fantastic, would love runner up reactions too

Sanchez St. Productions

I really think you’ll love Picard Season 3 as the perfect conclusion to the next generation!

Brian Wood

Well, not much this week. Lol

Happy Hanukkah

Congratulations to SFS. I'm looking forward to your picks.

MikeLL

Hiding under the bedsheets this week. Anxiously anticipating you-know-what (horror comedy starring a certain CG) that was announced last night and has made my day, my week, and my month! Cassie, you are the best!!

nick bell

My ex wife calls The Village the worst movie she's ever seen. I've come across a lot of people who agree. I didn't care for it but it definitely wasn't the worst thing I've seen. I guess that's not an endorsement

KTVindicare

Not a fan of Underworld or the Village but I am SUPER excited for Constantine. That's in my top 10 comic book movies overall.

Blake Evans

The Village is my favorite Shyamalan film. While I think Unbreakable is his masterpiece, The Village is so much more nuanced. That score by James Newton Howard and Hilary Hahn is beautifully haunting. It got a bad wrap when it came out due to bad marketing. It’s a far better film if you go into it as a Gothic romance with horror elements rather than full in horror. Can’t wait!

Andrew Heller

I liked that creators other show Midnight mass way better

Robert da Spruce

Another shoutout to It’s me Dave for putting together last night’s quiz! It must have been a lot of work! Just wanted to say it doesn’t go unnoticed Thx also to Cassie and everyone else that helps put on these quizzes! They’re always great fun! Looking forward to this week’s reactions!

MikeLL

Big congratulations to Stick Figure! It takes a lot to hang in with the leaders in that game! He came up with an EPIC list of picks!

Augustine Lee

I’ve tried twice now with two different reactors and I just can’t get into the series

Jeffrey Bowler

Wow. You have really been loading great content lately. Well done!

LukeG84

Wow, strong lineup this week. I am super excited to see Cassie’s reaction to all three of these, especially Constantine and Underworld. 🍿

Jyn Jilly

Hey Cassie, do you know when the next Hill House episodes will release?

Gábor Árki

I'm really looking forward to THE VILLAGE! I've been recommending it for years and so happy it got picked. As for CONSTANTINE, I have a feeling some parts might be quite tough for Cassie to watch, even though one of her favorite actors is in it. As for UNDERWORLD, I don't remember much about it except that I've seen it, and it didn't leave a strong impression on me. But if I do recall correctly, it was filmed here in Budapest. Also, congratulations to Stick and all the winners and participants. My vote is that make it your pick Cassie. I think recency bias would sway a poll significantly. Or if you cannot choose, maybe just roll a dice and let Lady Luck pick one.

Melissa Smith

I enjoyed the underworld franchise , good storytelling. Fun fantasy, and cool effects. I watched them with my sister. ( A little bloody but nothing like some you've seen in the war genre.) M.Night's The Village was neat too. You'll see some familiar faces. :)

Walter

This looks like a fun week of watch-alongs. I don't personally like Underworld or The Village too much, but I will enjoy the rewatch with PIB. Constantine I do like quite a bit.

Paris

October is such an amazing time of year 🍁

bgb1975 (Brian)

How do we know the trivia winners weren't using ultra-fast search engines on the side? I demand a full investigation!

Joey Sampson

Perhaps try watching it for real? It’s one of the best TV series ever made in my humble opinion.

Gábor Árki

City Lights (1931) Citizen Kane (1941) Midnight Run (1988) The Fisher King (1991) Big Fish (2003)

K, Zachary

Always Classy, Sometimes sassy Cassie The guy who won I blocked on every forum because he questioned why I a big fan of Sharon Tate. When I told him the truth. He didn't like it Then he trashed me on Discord. 🙄 Oh well Live and let live. He's blocked Zach's tribute to Sharon https://youtu.be/7fCFy6M5kxM?si=CUoq0C4XS8Vv_hQ_ After seeing the lists of some good horror movies others I question. It's time I show the list. This list took 6-8 months with about 25-30 people to build lots of different horror sites took part in this. I am not happy with this but I my friends and I are content with it. The last entry was Pearl (2022) The movies that have a star next to it are movies I think Cassie can handle. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TojbIafKtQ9rPfx5rjQJ1cFyn23jtc2uROevVwtBINw/edit?usp=drivesdk

The most important Information i need is not here or I missed it? Anybody know when next 2 episodes of hill house hit? I want them all but am willing to wait, but not that long, lol

Wes

Constantine, John Constantine!

Gray

On the trivia live I think she said she might try and squeeze it in but it's quite a busy week with the live later this week also

aarswft

Oooh good week

Bryan Erickson

Okay, who’s the prankster that said The Village is a must watch? Ban them somehow.

David Collins

"Underworld" gives us Kate Beckinsale in skin tight leather and that can never be a bad thing. "Constantine" gives us Keanu who is always welcome. Not a fan of "The Village" but I'm definitely looking forward to that reaction. I mean, isn't that what the site is all about? This seems like a great lineup this week.

Steve Holton

Congratulations @Stick Figure Studios. Way to go Damian! 👍🎉 Also, big thanks to all who work so hard to put these events together. @ItsmeDave is not just a motorcycle expert. 🏍️ Hope everyone had a great time! Can't go wrong with any of those Stick picks. 😊

Bryan Erickson

💯. 2/3 are okay movies, but strange picks for October.

MikeLL

It's pretty exciting to think that there is a possibility that Cassie could watch CITIZEN KANE. I believe that film sits on that very small shelf upon which the greatest film ever made sits. Other films that Cassie has pulled off that shelf include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, THE GODFATHER, and perhaps VERTIGO. (I'm sure Stick Figure would include CLOSE ENCOUNTERS on that shelf, but I don't 😄) That being said, I really don't think CITIZEN KANE will be watched this go around, even though it is just a matter of time before Cassie watches it. But there is that possibility right now, which is exciting.

Clay F

I may skip the reactions to Constanine, Underworld, and The Village. "Though stylish to look at, Underworld is tedious and derivative."

Just Plain Bob

I agree. I also like two of the movies. But they’re not horror. Last I checked, “Blade” was also winning a poll. I love that movie but it, also, is not horror.

Bryan Erickson

Yeah, not the worst, but very disappointing ending.

Just Plain Bob

A buddy of mine recommended “The Village” when it came out. I watched it based on his recommendation, even though I thought the trailer looked blah. I was so disappointed. It’s a melodrama, not a horror film. And not a particularly good one, at that. Between “The Village”, “Constantine”, “Underworld” and “Blade”, this is rapidly becoming Not Scary At All October.

David Collins

Are you suggesting that movies about vampires, werewolves, demons, exorcism, and spooky supernatural creatures in the woods aren't good Halloween material? Not sure where anyone gets the idea that Halloween is just about gore.

MikeLL

I'm barely fast enough to keep up with the game, which I didn't even try last night, much less operate a search engine on the side! Not possible!! 🤣🤣🤣

bknsty14

I know I’m in the minority, but I love The Village. Glad to see someone finally reacting to it (my favorite reactor at that).

Shehab Dawoud

First two weeks have been.. tame. Slow start, strong middle and finish, can we hold out hope for that?

Dan M

Happy October Cassie! It’s starting to feel like Fall here on Long Island, but the color splash is still a few weeks away. Loving the fact that we can sleep with the ac off and the windows open. 😌 I’m still licking my wounds from that brutal Trivia contest last night. I laid in bed for quite awhile staring at the ceiling and internally punishing myself for the crash and burn that was my effort (only kidding, I was out like a light as soon as I closed my eyes). I’m definitely gonna have to tune up my guessing method before the next contest. Maybe One Potato Two Potato instead of Eeney Meeney Miney Mo. I had a lot of fun though and laughed a LOT. This should be a fun week of reactions…hopefully. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen Constantine, but from what I remember, that is probably going to be a tough watch for you. We will all be holding your hands long distance as you watch. Underworld will be fun, with several Oh My Goshes scattered throughout. And The Village…well, it’s an M. Night Shaymalan movie so, enough said. Looking forward to all of it. Very excited for the live on Friday, as I have finally sent you my first package. I’m filled with nervous anticipation. Can’t wait for the festivities. And a huge thank you ahead of time for you generosity to those who are still trying to recover from Hurricane Helene. You have a huge heart, and I’m so proud to be a member of your community. Until Friday, enjoy everything the rest of the week has to offer. You’re the best. 😊

Just Plain Bob

I never suggested that gore was a necessity. “The Haunting” has zero gore. I’ve recommended it, repeatedly, because it’s an actual horror film (and my favorite ghost story movie). Ditto for the Universal Monster Movies. Many don’t think of them as scary, but they’re legit horror films and classics for a reason. And there are many other examples of premium quality horror with little or no gore. The simple fact of the matter is that “ Constantine” and “Blade” are comic book movies. “Underworld” is an action movie. Simply having “monsters” in a movie DOESN’T make a film a horror movie. I also really enjoy good horror/comedies, such as “Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein” and “Arsenic and Old Lace.” But, right now, we’ve got enough movies on the schedule to fill the first two weeks of October and not one of them is a horror movie.

Thin White Duke

TV is generally mediocre at best, and THoHH takes up the slots of 5 movies...

Laura Thornley

The Village is really good until about the halfway point then it falls to pieces.

Laura Thornley

Underworld came out at the perfect time for me - just barely coming into adulthood and leaving my teens behind me. Pretty much formed what my internal idea of what 'cool' and 'sexy' means.

Thin White Duke

I'm not sure if you were aware, but Cassie doesn't actually like horror

Richard Maurer

Three movies, not one horror movie among them. Great Halloween week! - every horror hater on Cassie's patreon.

Just Plain Bob

@Laura Thornley: I never really thought about it but, now that you’ve made the point, I agree.

Just Plain Bob

@Thin White Duke (love the Bowie avatar, btw): Cassie has absolutely enjoyed horror films on this channel. It’s true that she’s not a fan of the genre as a whole. But she has also stated, repeatedly, that one of the reasons she started doing reactions was to open herself up to new experiences and step outside her comfort zone. And she’s set limits to what she’ll watch, naming films that are verboten. Why impose false limitations on her viewing experience that she, herself, didn’t see the need to set? She’s also proven that she will surprise you with what she likes, including several horror movies. Finally, liking a movie IS NOT a prerequisite to a good reaction. Her reactions to “The Shining”, “Halloween”, “The Thing”, etc, have demonstrated that (as well as reactions to non-horror fare, such as “Big Trouble in Little China” - GREAT reaction but she hated the movie).

Richard Maurer

I gave a list already, back when it was relevant. It was a list of good, solid horror movies. So far it's been ignored.

DrJonasVenture

I didn’t know that October was going to be super hero month.

Just Plain Bob

I actually think you’re in the BIG majority with your love of “The Village.” I hate it, but to each his own. Hope you enjoy the reaction. Let’s be honest, Cassie can make even movies we don’t like fun to watch … sometimes.

Brent Petty

Train to Busan and Panic Room please.

Stick Figure Studios

Many hated THE VILLAGE, but I actually sort of liked it (in spite of many problems it has). For me, it wasn't until the next movie LADY IN THE WATER that Shyamalan really went downhill. CONSTANTINE is another one I've always liked and though was woefully underappreciated. I'm so glad to hear is finally getting the still it deserves. As for UNDERWORLD, the less is day about it the better as it's a film I did not care for so I never bothered with any of the sequels. Still miffed it beat DEATH BECOMES HER (one of my favorite movies and a title I *almost* included as one of my five trivia body winner picks).

OddThomas

The Village is literally in my Top Ten Movies list, I love it so much

Stick Figure Studios

Honestly, I'm fine if she wants to do a poll. Yeah, recency bias will probably help the later the movies, but they're all my picks, so I can't really complain. :-)

Thin White Duke

I'm not limiting anything, she is. It's obvious she doesn't actually want to watch anything scarier than Jurassic Park. You are having difficulty accepting this

Thin White Duke

You know there are reactors who only watch horror year-round?

Richard Maurer

Sure I know that. What does that have to do with this channel?

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Thanks for watching Highlander (1986), Cassie!! I respect that it wasn't your cup of tea but thanks for giving thumbs up for Sean Connery, Scotland and Queen. I'm a huge Queen fan and went to see them perform live with Adam Lambert in 2022! They are phenomenal when they play live. I don't know if you've ever seen their Live Aid performance? It was that and Highlander (1986) that made me a huge Queen fan!

Just Plain Bob

That’s absolute nonsense. There are plenty of horror films in the polls, intermixed with comic book movies, action films, etc. Do you think she doesn’t see her own polls? She is fully capable of saying a movie is off limits and has done so (“The Exorcist”, “Hereditary”, etc). Frankly, it’s infantilizing to act as though she can’t make up her own mind about what she will and will not watch.

Thin White Duke

It means stop whining if you choose to subscribe to PiB instead of a horror reactor this month

Thin White Duke

Says the guy trying to gaslight her into believing she actually really likes horror but has somehow neglected to schedule it 🙄

Just Plain Bob

I’m a horror movie fan and don’t like the fact that non-horror movies (such as “Underworld”) are being pitted against true horror films in the polls. That said, I love the first two “Underworld” films and don’t much care what the critics/detractors say. I’m very much looking forward to Cassie’s (and possibly Carly’s) reaction. I just wish it wasn’t during October. Cassie doesn’t react to horror movies the rest of the year, so those slots in October are precious to us horror fans.

Just Plain Bob

Richard, we’ve got the same old argument taking place. “Cassie doesn’t like horror and is incapable of setting limits, so we have to protect her from movies she won’t like.” What they seemingly fail to realize is that she’s a grown woman, with a husband, three kids and a thriving business that she built from the ground up. I think she can make up her own mind what she’s willing to watch.

Chris H

I'm not sure why the Village is so hated. I really loved it in theaters and every time I've reaatched it at home.

Richard Maurer

@Thin White Duke - Really fighting to keep from saying something that might get me blocked. I'll just say this - It's only whining when someone else is doing it, right? Because I've seen you whine plenty around here. I have just as much right to "whine" as everyone else here, and if you don't like it, too bad.

Stick Figure Studios

Thank you. Curious now to see which of my five picks gets seen

Thin White Duke

@Bob If you're tired of the same arguments then just enjoy the schedule even if they are not horror movies 🤷‍♂️

Thin White Duke

@Richard You need to chill out and watch less horror, it's making you agitated

Richard Maurer

If we don't complain how will they know that they're doing something wrong?

Just Plain Bob

SHUT UP, RICHARD!!! You’re getting in the way of his white knighting.

Thin White Duke

I prefer White Duking To me trying to make a reactor like horror who obviously doesn't is as absurd as trying to dissuade a reactor from watching horror movies if they really enjoy them

Richard Maurer

@Bob - Yes, how dare I complain about something I don't like. I mean, it's not like anyone else ever does that, right?

Richard Maurer

@Thin White Duke - Horror actually does chill me out.

Story Archer

Oh My God! I've been pushing The Village for over a year! Somebody needs to teach me how to do a cartwheel RIGHT NOW!

Story Archer

The porch scene alone... Can't wait.

Story Archer

You know a movie has to be good when I rank it higher than watching Kate Beckinsdale in a leather corset for two straight hours...

Story Archer

Chris H - it's a victim of the Sixth Sense... everyone was so primed for The Next Big Twist that they completely missed the forest for the trees.

Richard Maurer

@Thin White Duke - Why would you think I'm trying to make her like horror movies? I want to see her react to them, don't care if she likes them or not.

Story Archer

Not gonna lie - Kate Beckinsdale in a leather corset definitely sped up my 'coming into adulthood'...

Thin White Duke

@Richard A tad callous. Sounds like you want to see her suffer, a touch sadistic?

Story Archer

The Village is a criminally under-rated film, featuring an all-star cast and stellar performances, not to mention one of the most hauntingly beautiful musical scores to ever grace the screen. It's ONLY problem was that it was a victim of The Sixth Sense, in the fact that everyone was so focused on what The Next Big Twist would be and completely missed the forest for the trees when it came to the film itself. The cinematography and sound design both should have won Oscars that year.

Story Archer

The Village is absolutely terrifying in a number of spots. The film builds superb tension with music, sound design and its cinematography.

Story Archer

I'd definitely skip S2. S1 & S3 are excellent imo - but how does she watch those without watching Voyager first?

Richard Maurer

@Thin White Duke - Ha! Same old white knight arguments. Yeah, I'm not forcing her to watch horror movies, she started this journey on her own. But I will keep trying to get her to watch good horror movies, real horror movies. They don't even have to be the scariest ones, just be good and real ones.

Richard Maurer

@Thin White Duke - You liked your own reply, didn't you?

Just Plain Bob

@Richard Maurer It’s one of the worst cases of infantilization I’ve ever seen. “Stop advocating for horror movies, Cassie can’t handle it! And is too simple to realize it! You’re gaslighting her!” It’s bizarre. As if anyone would think, thru some posts in an open forum, that they could change a grown woman’s tastes/likes/dislikes, but that appears to be what Thin White Duke believes, and fears. It’s like the Satanic Panic of the 80s: people scared out of their (limited) wits that the kiddies will succumb to a non-existent threat to their very souls. Only, in this case, the kiddie is a grown woman.

Wesley White

Happy October to you too Cassie! Would love to see a pic of your home all spookified for this Halloween lol! Sorry I couldn't make it to the Trivia last night, like I said, I was working 😭 lol 🤣 Can't wait for your reaction to CONSTANTINE and UNDERWORLD, both are great movies, I especially "LOVE" Underworld, that's probably where my biggest crush for Kate Beckinsale lies lol! My vote for Trick Poll week 2 is still for BLADE, and for your Treat Poll week 2, my vote is for DEEP BLUE SEA, that's an underrated classic! I hope for week 3 you'll put in my highly recommended/requested suggestion lol, VAN HELSING, forgive me for my pestering LOL 🤣 I may join in on your Livestream this Saturday while I'm at work like during a break or so lol! Just goes to show how much of a big heart you have Cassie for supporting a good cause like helping those effected by Hurricane Helene, God bless you! Hope you have a great week as well Cassie, love and support always, you and Carly are the best, and God bless y'all and the family 🥰😇🙏🤗😁😉👍✌🌹

Just Plain Bob

@Story Archer. I was a grown man when I saw the movie in theaters but … ditto.

bknsty14

I e tried to find other reactions to it and think I’ve only found two or three.

Mark White

Congratulations, great list of top movies, but, oh let it be “ Citizen Kane” it’s a must for any student studying the art of film and is in a lot of movie fans top 10’s I bet.

Dan M

Looking forward to Underworld as well. Kate Beckinsale…wow. Just an FYI, the live is Friday evening, not Saturday. I’d hate for you to miss it because you had the wrong day 👍.

Dan M

I was waiting for you to see her post about that movie. She mentioned that she would be watching it last night during the trivia contest. Congrats! Wishes do come true!

Dan M

Congrats on your win last night Stick! That was a see saw battle to the end. Looking forward to seeing what movies you picked.

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, I've been hoping for KANE for a while now. It's sort of a rite of passage for any movie lover, but if this goes to a poll, I doubt it will win.

Stick Figure Studios

I've already submitted my picks: CITY LIGHTS, CITIZEN KANE, MIDNIGHT RUN, THE FISHER KING and BIG FISH.

My_Cousin_Mose

I remember hating The Village when it first came out because it was nothing like the trailers made it out to be. When I watched it later in life I thought it was great and I really liked the ending.

Story Archer

Thanks! Now I've gotta shut-up for a while about everything else I want her to watch (August Rush, Phenomenon, City of Angels, Thomas Crowne Affair, The Horse Whisperer, Spy Game, Up Close and Personal, Man in the Iron Mask, Midnight Run are my remaining top 10 for PiB). Don't want to be that guy, you know?

Chris Thom

What were your five picks?

Chris Thom

City Lights with Michael J. Fox?

Steve Holton

Chris, they are: Midnight Run (1988) City Lights (1931) Citizen Kane (1941) Big Fish (2003) The Fisher King (1991)

Timothy Roberts

I live in south GA and the hurricane came right over me. I was lucky though. No power outage or damage. I was woken up by a gust of wind hitting my back porch. Scared the crap out of me. My oldest son lives in Savannah and he still doesn't have power.

Stranger2Reality

I only saw it once, in theaters, and found it to be supremely disappointing. I guess it was better than the next few Shyamalan movies (which isn't saying much, as they were pretty awful for a while there), but yeah, The Village is quite bad.

Stranger2Reality

You can't leave us hanging, why are you a fan of Sharon Tate? I don't have any opinion of her either way, so I can't imagine getting upset by whatever your reason is.

Stranger2Reality

The Village is so bad. Shyamalan's insistence on twists really ruined that film, as I saw it opening night and guessed the twist in the first couple minutes. Such a dumb movie.

Just Plain Bob

Wishing you and your family the best.

Just Plain Bob

Congrats on the win, Stick Figure. Love the selection of movies you gave Cassie. Hoping she picks “Citizen Kane”, then makes the others PPOTM in the coming months.

Crispy

Ohhhh Constantine is so great...

Joe Jupiter

Hi, Cassie. It looks like you've already watched the first TNG movie, "Star Trek: Generations," as of this posting. I'm not sure if my recent comments have reached you through the huge crowd of others, so I'll keep trying until it becomes evident that I've either succeeded or failed. As I've said earlier, a lot of very significant events in the Star Trek universe happen in the spinoff series, "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," aka DS9, which has been going for three seasons at the point you're at now. Said events will be heavily referenced in nearly all subsequent materials, still to this day, including in the remaining three TNG movies. I strongly recommend that you take a break from TNG, right now, and spend some time getting caught up on DS9 before you watch the next TNG movie, "Star Trek: First Contact." If you don't watch DS9 first, there are a number of things in the TNG movies that won't make any sense to you. "Star Trek: First Contact" takes place toward the end of season five of DS9 (though it was released in theaters more toward the beginning of the airing schedule). If you don't want to spend as much time on it as doing the usual four episodes per season, you can skip over almost all of the first two seasons, only watching the pilot episode, "Emissary," and the season two finale, "The Jem'Hadar." Things start developing more in season three, so you might want to look at more of those episodes. Season four, which picks up where "Star Trek: Generations" left off, is where the really big stuff starts happening, including a change of status quo that will directly tie into "Star Trek: First Contact." From there, I recommend regular watching through the end of the series, to stay caught up on events which will continue to be relevant in "Star Trek: Insurrection" (which was released in theaters around the middle of season seven of DS9) and "Star Trek: Nemesis" (which was released after DS9 ended). Those movies will still be entertaining without first seeing DS9, but you will have nagging questions. For the sake of getting the full enjoyment out of them, as well as experiencing what some fans consider to be the best of all Star Trek television series (even better than "The Next Generation"!), please consider taking a trip through "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."

Larry Darrell

Awesome Picks! I got to go with Citizen Kane. This is where many modern film techniques began and I’m really curious to see how Cassie takes to it and if any of the amazing camera work stands out. We were side by side for the first 2 checkpoints. Thought it pretty funny. Then I bounced all around, falling to 21 after math, then in and out of top 10 a bunch. I was trying this time. Felt I should try to show off with all the new freebies joining. Still haven’t actually won myself. Congrats to you. About Damn Time ;-)

ArsTropica

derivative... of the Matrix. 100% agree.

ArsTropica

Devil is a worse film, but a worthy entry in the "so bad it's good" category. The jelly-side down scene still gives me the giggles.

Clay F

Also: "Despite solid production values and an intriguing premise, Constantine lacks the focus of another spiritual shoot-em-up: The Matrix."

Clint P

Check out Psycho Goreman. It's Canadian. Don't judge it by the name or cover. At least watch the trailer haha

Uncle Phoenix

Did anyone else notice that they made another John Wick movie?

Chuck Schuldiner

Death Becomes Her should've won. Underworld was very forgettable

Stick Figure Studios

@Chuck. I agree... but the people have spoken, so onward and upward. Maybe I should have made DEATH BECOMES HER one of my five picks (It is one of my favorite films).

dollop

Happy October! I’m sure there’s already enough movies being suggested this month but I’m hoping at least one of these gets a reaction. The Strangers (2008) Train to Busan (2016) Happy Death Day (2017) Coco (2017) - a Carly safe rewatch Us (2019) A Quiet Place: Day One (2024) All these movies are based around love and family 😌

ArsTropica

WTG Stick! Those are some very thoughtful recommendations.

Chuck Schuldiner

Yeah I hear ya. I guess a fair amount of ppl like Underworld. Only seen it once back in 2004....so 20 years ago. I think of the 5 films you picked Midnight Run is my fav on there. Congrads on winning the Trivia game.

Stick Figure Studios

Thanks. I'd love if she chose MIDNIGHT RUN (or if it won a poll), but then I'd be happy with any of these.

Stick Figure Studios

Thank you. Just a few of my all-time favorite films that she hasn't seen yet (and I can even make a good argument for several of them being among the greatest films ever made).

Gábor Árki

I don’t think watching DS9 would add much to the TNG movies beyond maybe offering some extra context about the state of the Star Trek universe. The movies are largely self-contained, focusing on their own separate storylines built around the TNG characters.

Carol_White

Hi neighbor. I'm in Savannah, lost power for 36 hours, my co-workers are still out of luck.

Stick Figure Studios

Yup. That was them. Wasn't until I was compiling the list that I realized two of them quite coincidentally have the word "fish" in the title.

Stick Figure Studios

Though It is definitely not a "must-see," I still sort of like THE VILLAGE (in spite of its massive problems). Shyamalan didn't reality lose me until his next film.

Ian A

Congrats and nice job SFS! This batch looks so fun. One I love in a cheesy way and 2 others I haven't seen since the first time I watched them years ago. I'm excited.

Mike Lemon

10 months. TEN F*****G MONTHS Trek has been going on, but the Trek nuts keep pushing. How insufferably entitled can one fan base get? A lot of people have been waiting years and get one or two movies in their favorite genre, but f-them, we have only had 30 Trek reactions. Enough already.

Biggman83

Please don’t put SFS picks to a vote. It’s your channel, not a democracy

Mike Lemon

@Bob - "like the Satanic Panic of the 80s: " Do I hear a recommendation to watch Indictment: The McMartin Trial (1995)?

Mike Lemon

Fingers still crossed for Saw, but it isn't looking good after what has been on these polls.

Dan M

I’m right there with you for Phenomenon, Man in the Iron Mask, and Midnight Run (R.I.P. John Ashton). I think Cassie and Carly would love all 3 movies. I just watched Phenomenon for the umpteenth time a couple of weeks ago. Such a good movie.

Timothy Burrows

Finally I get Cassie to watch Constantine. Make sure you watch through the credits, there is a post credits scene.

Chris Thom

The Strangers would be so good on this particular channel.

Chris Thom

Hope you and son are alright.

Chris Thom

The Village can take a minute to fully appreciate. But it gets better over successive watches.

Chris Thom

Oh good ones. Need to rewatch Citizen Kane and Fisher King. Never seen Midnight Run.

Joel Wayne

I believe you are thinking of "Bright Lights, Big City"

BibbitduBois

Wow am I happy with this upcoming post! Two movies I was really hoping would be a part of Scary (but not too scary) Halloween.

Mark White

Hi Cassie, Autumn is my favourite time of year also. I spent much of my spare time in the woods this time year. Chopping firewood ready for the winter. I love taking time out just to walk around enjoying the sights and sounds of the wildlife in the woodland. It gives a sense of peace in my mind, which is normally a bag of cats! Another great set of movies. Can’t wait! I’ve got to do it! Another shout for ‘Duel’ perfect for you and Carly in October scary but not too scary! Your the best ❤️🤗

Zane From Canada

Cassie just a heads up. There's a post-credit scene at the end of Constantine. 🙂

Chris Thom

I wonder if she knows that. She's almost always done those LIVEs on Saturday or Sunday.

Chris Thom

Yes that's the one. Thank you. Kind of like a Brett Easton Ellis kind of thing.

Chris Thom

Fairly perfect for this channel in October. Creepy and tense but not really horror.

Ben Schwartz

Another Autumnish movie i like is Sleep Hollow with Johnny Depp. One of my favorite movies just based on the scenery, set-design, costumes, etc. Such a cool movie.

Thin White Duke

@WhatAboutBob So by your own logic none of these comments affect the schedule. Therefore I'll simply add, enjoy this week's horror-free schedule 🤡

Richard Maurer

So, you admit you're glad no actual horror movies are being watched. Thanks for being honest finally.

Ignis Rændl

ooo, great picks Cassie. recommend 'The Exorcism of Emily Rose' if you haven't seen it. horror and a courtroom drama... (also just wanted to give 'The Lady In The Water' some love. it's not great, but that one Paul Giamatti scene made it worth it for me;)

Thin White Duke

@Dick It's odd how you phrase your charge as if it were some kind of offence. I like horror movies, slasher movies mainly, but I don't need to try and force horror movies or gangster movies or anything else onto PiB when I can watch them without a reaction video or from another reactor - particularly when there's plenty of horror-adjacent & horror-lite that Cassie and Carly can enjoy this season. Hope that helps

Richard Maurer

Lol Dick, like I haven't heard that from unfunny people who thought they were being clever all my life. Anyway, no one's trying to force anything on anybody, It's not like I'm in charge of the polls. But I can try to change it for the better by giving my opinion. If that bothers you - too bad, don't care. Hope that helps, Thin White Duck (See, I can be childish too).

DrGravity

Honestly as a massive DS9 fan, there is absolutely no need to watch it to fully enjoy the subsequent TNG movies. Even back in the day, these movies were produced with an assumption that a majority of the audience won't be DS9 viewers. The odd reference or Easter Egg was added just for those fans that had watched the show, but the movies are designed for the wider audience. Don't get me wrong Deep Space Nine is a fantastic show and I'm sure Cassie would enjoy it, but completely understand the desire not to overload the channel with Star Trek content. There certainly isn't a need to watch it ahead of the forthcoming films!

Story Archer

I take a different approach to the movies I push - I select movies that I love AND that I think they would like. Watching them squirm and try to put a good face on something that just isn't their thing provides no value to me. I secretly wish I could get them to watch Arcane, but - as truly amazing as it is - an animated series seems a little off for this crowd.

Above Average Dave

I'm in Central NC and the same here - ton of rain and dodged a couple tornadoes, but ultimately just a messy yard and some flakey power. But just 2 hrs. west of here it looks like a war zone with 4 feet of water added in for more destruction. People here are rallying. We and others were loading up a tractor trailer in Durham heading out there with water, canned goods and toiletries. Many efforts like that happening but this is very, very bad and will prove worse than Kartrina. I was ablle to see New Orleans first-hand about a week into that disaster. The loss of life is likely to be in the hundreds. There are more than 1,000 people missing in NC alone. The geographical area is much, much larger and the property damage is incredible. Most or all of several towns wiped out. Hoping to get out there this weekend to help clear debris. btw, I was looking for frequent PiB contributor ROSE out here in the last couple days but haven't seen her post. She has family in Black Mountain, which was one of the town devistated by the flooding. I am not headed that way, but wanted to make sure they are OK. If anyone wants to help, here are some resources. Prayers are also very, very welcomed. https://www.wral.com/story/help-rebuild-north-carolina-join-wral-s-hurricane-helene-recovery-telethon-tomorrow/21648118/

Jimmy Stewart

Great picks the both of them, can't wait to see these cinematic classic, a must watch for sure Dark DC Univers Constantine

Russell

The Haunting (1963) may be the best haunted house movie ever. I vote again for Forbidden Planet (a classic) and 1985s Fright Night. All these are scary but not too scary and Carly friendly enough :)

Russell

If by some chance you decide to try and watch the Exorcist, watch the director's cut, and good luck.

LDC7080

Is there !!!! I didn’t know that. I never checked movies before marvel 🤓

LDC7080

My queen journey began from watching Flash Gordon 1980 A great movie that Cassie could watch 🚀

Clay F

I think The Exorcist is on her no-way list.

Chris Thom

I didn't know Constantine was a DC comic. Any idea when the character debuted?

Chris Thom

Yeah I like the general vibe of that a lot more than the actual story.

Chris Thom

Is this kind of thing unusual for the area?

Stick Figure Studios

Whether she wants to just pick one of them or put them all in a poll, I'm fine either way.

Stick Figure Studios

Personally, if after the TNG and Kelvin movies, she wants to call it a day on Star Trek, I'd be fine with that (although I really think she would be more satisfied by the way the third season of PICARD concludes the story of that crew send the movie NEMESIS does). I don't need to see reactions to DEEP SPACE NINE, VOYAGER, DISCOVERY or STRANGE NEW WORLDS.

Stick Figure Studios

I would love to see Cassie watch THE EXORCIST (either version) as it's one of my favorite horror films, but I don't think it's going to happen. She has pretty much said it is a non-starter for her.

Stick Figure Studios

@Mafk: DUEL would be great. She's been doing a lot of Spielberg films lately and although that was very early in his career it really showed his enormous talent.

Stick Figure Studios

Thank you. :-) I'm curious to see which one ends up getting picked.

Joe J

Everybody knows you never go....full Picard (haha). I could live with Picard S3 no problem, but it probably wouldn't get the YT views Cassie would want. She could do Patreon only.

Ian A

He debuted as a character in Swamp Thing in 1985. His Hellblazer series is pretty good. He interacts with a bunch of DC characters.

Edwin

There’s a huge problem! I don’t see Deadpool and Wolverine anywhere on these lists. I need Cassie to address that ASAP! 😭

Larry Darrell

She plans to watch it in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully she waits until the end of October or at the earliest about 3 weeks… Hopefully ;-)

BJ Stephens

"X and X doesn't make it a horror movie" is nothing but your personal opinion, not an objective fact.

RJ MacReady

She handled It pretty well and to me that is a scarier and more graphic movie. She would be surprised what she can handle.

Mike Lemon

@Chris - He is also in four DC Animated movies ( two Constantine movies and two Justice League Dark movies - all are recommended) and four DC Animated "Tomorrowverse" movies (three Crisis on Infinite Earth's and Green Lantern - Beware My Power - if you can get past the horrible animation, they might be good. I don't know.). There is also a pretty OK 2021 live action TV show.

Opticblasting3

You should watch Blade, fantastic four, and daredevil before Deadpool and Wolverine. Just so you can keep up

Just Plain Bob

Yes. We’re all sharing our opinions here. I have mine. There is no objective definition for any genre. Having said that, if the simple presence of certain elements, such as gore, automatically makes something a horror movie, things would get mighty confusing when describing movies. Any one of the “John Wick” movies has far more gore than “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” (the original) or “Halloween.” But I don’t think too many people would say that “John Wick” was a horror movie or that “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” was not.

Joe M

I believe I mentioned to Cassie that she needs to watch Blade (1998) and Daredevil (2003) before she watches Deadpool/Wolverine. I believe she has seen The Fantastic Four (2005) already? If not these three are a MUST WATCH before Deadpool/Wolverine.

Mike Lemon

Because she is too stupid to understand a movie? Or because the movie is so poorly made that it *requires* watching multiple 20-25 year old movies?

Opticblasting3

What an embarrassing post. Nobody mentioned her intelligence, please contain any "tism" you may have when replying to comments. To answer your question without spoilers, it's so that she may more greatly appreciate things, references, or characters that may be called out or pop up. So that she doesn't go "who?", very often. This isn't a hard notion to grasp so I'm not sure what you're struggling with. Nobody said she wouldn't enjoy the movie with out it, she would simply enjoy it that much more. As other reactors have done. Hell she has watched every X-Men movie in lead up to it. The first X-Men movie is 20 years old. Gee she didn't need to watch that either before DP&W but I bet she will greatly appreciate knowing who the hell Wolverine is lmao. The same idea is applicable. So spare me the attitude from a mere and innocent suggestion, thanks.

Dan M

She doesn’t want to watch anything that involves demons or demonic possession. And I would say the scene with Regan and the crucifix in bed is more graphic than anything in IT.

Mike Lemon

"Nobody mentioned her intelligence,"- Here, I'll quote it- " Just so you can keep up" 'Keep up', not 'more greatly appreciate'. Those are two vastly different things.

Opticblasting3

I see your IQ hasn't sharpened between posts which is no surprise. "keeping up" in the sense of being knowledgeable with who and what is being referenced or shown. That has no bearing on her being too "stupid" to understand the movie. That's a conclusion you jumped to all on your own. You want to try again so I can continue publicly straightening you out? Again she didn't need to watch the 20 yr old X-Men movie but it sure will help in seeing this new one. Let me know if I need to break things down a little slower for you sport.

Mike Lemon

Ahh, so the "Or because the movie is so poorly made that it *requires* watching multiple 20-25 year old movies?" part, huh. Funny how you skipped over that option and went right for the "stupid" one. Or did you want to change the original comment to "more greatly appreciate"?

Cole Jennett

They are absolutely not a must watch. They might enhance the experience, but it’s more work than I’m sure she’s willing to put in.

Cole Jennett

It would have been good if she had watched those movies beforehand, but it’s not at all necessary. I don’t expect they are going to go back and watch movies that weren’t really on their radar before they watch a movie they seem to be excited to get to sooner rather then later. I get the passion, I just know it isn’t going to enhance the experience so much that they will truly regret not having watched them first.

djKENTO

CONSTANTINE! LET’S GOOOOO!

Mark White

I will second forbidden planet, classic.

Clay F

Dustin, you said she "should watch Blade, fantastic four, and daredevil ." Do you really think she is going to do that? My guess is zero percent. She may watch Blade b/c winning in one of the current polls. Yet, it is good to know what you said. I had no idea.

Clay F

Like you indicate, demonic stuff is a non-starter. She recently said that IT and The Shining were the two scariest movies she watched for the channel -- yet, she said that in passing. The Exorcist (1973) is currently winning in a 1970-1999 Horror Poll on Hold Down A (Ames) Patreon, so Ames may be reacting to The Exorcist (1973) this month.

Mike Lemon

@Cole - Exactly. Fans of franchises need to start realizing that those little nods and winks aren't required to "keep up" or understand a movie/TV show. Not every movie and episode *needs* to be watched. Missing that little bonus the producers threw in as gift to the fans that did sit through 30+ years of mediocre, if not bad, movies/shows isn't going to make it impossible to "keep up" or understand.

Rene G.

The first sentence is the one I've been trying to say all along. "Not too scary yet scary" movies will be on thin ice.. She needs to go deeper end!!

Chris Thom

That should wait until November imo.

Chris Thom

Finally saw it last year. Was surprised by the quality of the psychological aspects. Really modern story.

Jimmy Stewart

According to official DC Comics sources, Constantine’s first appearance was Swamp Thing #37 (cover-dated June 1985)

Patrick Flanagan

Yikes, not the dreaded "Version You've Never Seen." Original cut only please. Not that it matters here since our host isn't going to watch it anyway.

Patrick Flanagan

His first official, named appearance is in that issue but he started as a joke by the artists. They kept drawing Sting into the background of prior SWAMP THING issues and the writer (Alan Moore) finally decided to give him a character and reason for showing up constantly. This led to Constantine's introduction in the great "American Gothic" storyline of issues 38-50.

Patrick Flanagan

You're being incredibly obnoxious. Anyone this worked up about a movie reaction channel needs to log off and go for a walk. The only one coming across as entitled here is you. If stuff is being posted that you're not interested in, don't watch it. If you don't want to subscribe any more, then don't. Attacking other people over this is deeply embarrassing.

Patrick Flanagan

Both sides are being way too invested here. This is a few dollars a month worth of investment, if it's stressing people out that they don't have complete control, or any control, over what's being watched, they should consider watching something else, or maybe try therapy. As far as horror goes, there's a difference between trying to "protect" someone - that tendency is really annoying - and just not wanting to show our host something she probably won't enjoy or understand. And that's not a matter of intelligence, just a matter of taste. Some people truly don't understand or appreciate the thrill of a scary movie. Just not their cup of tea. It's not the end of the world

Patrick Flanagan

It's because a) the first twist makes the marketing of the movie feel dishonest and b) the last twist is so, so, so dumb it retroactively wrecks the movie by making it completely unbelievable for no real gain in terms of the story

Joe J

I'm glad Cassie has her boundaries and sticks to them. She should never watch anything she doesn't want to watch.

Thin White Duke

@ Byrd PiB has got 3,500 paid members so no she doesn't have to embrace anything she isn't already doing as she probably makes about 5-10K per week

Richard Maurer

You don't seem to be getting the point, at least for the people who are pro-horror. It's not that we think the wrong horror movies are being watched, it's that no horror movies are being watched at all. I don't understand why people have problem with us complaining about it, as there are people complaining every poll, over much more trivial things. But apparently horror fans are just supposed to take whatever we get and like it. It boils down to. if we don't complain it will never change. It may not change anyway, but at least they'll know that the main audience for horror films isn't happy about the way things are going.

Joe J

I think Constantine will be rougher than Cassie may be anticipating given the subject matter and some of the imagery.

Patrick Flanagan

Get over it. In fact that goes for everyone complaining that their personal choices aren't being picked. Pro-horror, anti-horror, pro- or anti-STAR TREK, pro- or anti-older movies...just let it go. If the lineup here is bothering you to the point where you need to bring it up over and over and over again, log off and go out for a beer with some friends. "If we don't complain it will never change." What is this, the civil rights movement? Come on now

Dominique

It’s on my no way list lol

Mike Lemon

@Patrick- Thank you for showing my point. "you're not interested in, don't watch it. If you don't want to subscribe any more, then don't." In other words, shut up and take it or get out. What a perfect summary some of the rabid Trek fans' attitude for almost the last year. "worked up about a **movie** reaction channel" (emphasis mine) Hmm...

Cole Jennett

@Chris The more reactors she can get ahead of, the more views she’s likely to get

Chris Thom

Oh interesting. Didn't think of it that way. Would love to learn how the algorithm works some day because it seems very mysterious.

Richard Maurer

You seem to have a problem with people voicing their opinions - get over it.

Cole Jennett

More because people won’t be tired of watching reactions to it. All depends how many channels the average subscriber follows I suppose. There are some already posted.

Edwin

Actually, I am waiting for her reaction cause there’s no way I am watching a 50 minute reaction to the same movie 3 or 4 times. I don’t care how much I like the movie or reactors, after a few times it becomes redundant and stale. I hope she releases this next week. She was told and knew the movie was coming out this week, there’s no reason to push this back several weeks. Especially when they blazed through the entire X-Men saga, just to do nothing now with this one. The algorithm says you get more views the faster you release your video. I agree with that.

Cole Jennett

@Edwin There are plenty of reasons that it could be pushed back. She’s already got a full schedule with October, a month a lot of people (not me) really look forward to, and that I believe is a good month for viewership. Also, Carly doesn’t always seem to be available on a whim either, and she probably expected not to be doing many reactions and booked herself up. Who really knows? I hope we get it sooner as well. But I’m of the “we will get it when we get it” mindset.

ENC SW DV Rush

Really looking forward to watching the Constantine and Underworld reactions.

McDiesel92

Can't wait for Star Trek Generations and afterwards First Contact!

Dan M

I couldn’t agree with you more. While I like a good horror movie that’s well made and has some genuinely good scares, I would never ask her to watch a movie that may make her uncomfortable. Some horror movies are just way over the top. And I’m all for a good action movie if it’s done well and combines different emotional aspects. I’d much rather watch a movie with her where she has a more positive reaction, even if it’s a good cry. That’s why some of my favorite of her reactions are Mr. Holland’s Opus, Dirty Dancing, Parenthood, Braveheart, and The Last Samurai. I wish I could have seen her react to Forrest Gump, but sadly she saw it before the channel.

Richard Maurer

@Mike -I’ve noticed a lot of people only see a problem with people complaining when it’s something they disagree with. Basically “Shut up someone might actually listen to you!”. But if it’s something they agree with, complain all you want.

Richard Maurer

These are basically spoilers anyway. Watch this movie before that movie - because…..?

Richard Maurer

She should wait till it comes to Disney+, because I’m not paying $25 bucks for it.

K, Zachary

Ok so I am not Zach I can only speak for him. I wasn't with him when this happened but talking to his friends this is what I think happened. So it started out with a discussion with another guy about the Beatles White Album and how the Manson Family took inspiration from it to kill. This guy didn't like anything that didn't fit his agenda so he tried to make up alternative facts and Zach blocked him. Now studio guy Studio guy comes out of no where and called him creepy for liking Sharon Tate. Zach replied that he uses what happened to Sharon to help victims of violent crime. Studio man stopped replying to Zach because Zach got the best of him. Months later on discord which (I think it's the end of March on the non movie platform) He found the studio guy calling him creepy again on discord even though Zach had gotten the best of him so he blocked him. Now for those of you who don't know and I have no idea why this is Zach has a connection with Sharon he often refers to her as his guardian angel. I have heard him speak fluent Italian in his sleep ( Sharon grew up in Italy) even know he doesn't know the language. The one thing you don't mess with is his connection with Sharon Tate. Nobody touches that. I personally think it's like messing with his soul. Now as far as the murders go. I think it had more to do with Dennis Wilson stealing Charles Manson songs than the Beatles White Album.

Rose

@dave - I was scrolling hoping to see a post from you. I’m so glad and relieved to see you’re okay. My aunt and her husband were lucky to be in Branson MO attending a play at Sight & Sound Theater when Helene hit. They were in Cookeville TN a few days ago getting supplies before heading home. Their neighbor got in touch with them and said that my aunt’s house was flooded and a tree fell at the corner of their master bed but that’s the extent of their damage. We haven’t heard from them since Thursday but my aunt is an RN and was hoping to return to work yesterday at a rehab hospital near the decimated Biltmore Village. They live in Buncombe County - which is an absolute disaster! My heart goes out to the affected communities and I’ve made donations to several private orgs who have been on the ground since day 1 after Helene devastated the SE region. Starlink has been tremendous!!! I’ve seen Greg Biffle’s IG stories. Just like you, Dave, there have been the private citizens and volunteers who galvanized their communities and are saving lives and providing supplies and medical attention for those just struggling to survive. People are dying though. The Mountain Mule Packers & Cajun Navy Relief along with several non-profit orgs have been doing dangerous but life-saving work to get to people that have been cut-off and trapped with no power and water and basic necessities. Lack of water is driving the local and healthcare facilities CRAZY! They can’t even wash their hands. There’s also looting … I’m donating to Samaritan’s Purse / Save Our Allies / Lake Norman Humane Society - for the displaced pets and homeless animals. I have a friend in Odessa, FL and she’s fine but her parents beach condo was destroyed. Now they’re bracing for Hurricane Milton that may hit them on Wednesday. Sending thoughts and prayers! ! ! Take care Dave and stay safe!

Rose

@Chris - this type of flooding has happened before in Western NC - the flood of 1916. The amount of rainfall during Helene was remarkably similar to the 1916 event but ofc loss of life after Helene is much more significant and Dave is correct. This will prove worst than Katrina.

Above Average Dave

@ROSE! - So good to hear your Aunt and her husband are SAFE! I was thinking of them, though I ended up in Watauga County this weekend rather than Buncombe. An hour closer so I knew I could do a bit more there before sunset. So sorry to hear about their house. God bless and I hope they can rebuild if that's their desire. My heart aches for them and their neighbors. That town in particular, Black Mountain (like a Hallmark town with breweries and better restaurants before this happened), was decimated. It so incredibly sad. People here in North Carolina are resilient (and stubborn as stumps). Most I've met want to rebuild. These are their homes, their friends and communities, and in many cases the ties stretch back for several generations. But seeing the devastation was like a punch in the gut and it brought tears to my eyes. I can't imagine how much more intense the feelings are for those who were in the moster's path and lost so much. Like Rose said, there was an almost identical storm (the flooding then was even greater in the Asheville area, actually) in 1916. But the High Country, and especially its vallies (where much of the flooding happened both then and now) is exponentially more populated and has—or had—many, many more businesses and properties this time around. Water, canned foods, toiletries, dry and clean clothes and pet food have become the equivalent of gold for many of these folks. Along with everything else, we encountered swarms of yellow jackets on Saturday when I was there. They've apparently been drawn to all the garbage and carion in the debris. It really is apocalyptic. One section of town I saw just outside of downtown Boone reminded me of photos of Berlin after WWII—everything just leveled and scattered and people walking around with blank or pained faces. There is finished lumber, broken sheetrock and roofing tiles, tree trunks, mud-wrecked furniture and the contents of homes and businesses strewn everywhere. I spent 8 hours just shoveling mud and rubble and felt like I was shoveling water in the ocean. But people were so thankful. I'd also stuffed my pockets and knapsack with protein bars and sticks of beef jerky and handed those out to any local walking by. This will take years to clear and repair. And while we didn't see any looters, we heard more than a few stories of people seeing them and doing what they could to chase them off. I was standing next to a Watauga County Sheriff when one woman was recounting a story and he gave people full permission for everyone to "protect your property in the same way you'd do so if someone broke into your house while you were there." If you live in the South, you know what that means. I pray it doesn't get to that. Things are hard enough for these folks as it is. Say a prayer and, if you're able, consider giving something to help with the aid I posted above, or to another place you've found on your own. These are our fellow citizens, our brothers and sisters. And I know in my heart, they'd do the same for me if I was likewise afflicted.

Clay F

I watched Jen Murray's full reaction to The Exorcist. Scary for her.

Patrick Flanagan

"In other words, shut up and take it or get out." Correct. You have to shut up and watch every single reaction she posts, every one of them! You have no choice in the matter. You are imprisoned here and this is LITERAL torture! I think you are ridiculous. Calling someone "rabid" because they like something you don't is deeply strange. Nobody is marching on Castle PiB with torches in hand demanding our host watch every minute of TREK, even the 1970s cartoon. You're just making this up. Where is this absurd rage coming from? Just skip the stuff you don't like. Throwing a tantrum if something is posted that you don't like - what are you, five years old?
