Popcorn Part Deux! Here we go!

Here are some sequels that deserve to be watched!! I kept them to just #2's if that makes sense! Also I know people love all of these so I think it will be a close one!

I know these are not ALL the sequels I have to watch but there will be future polls that will include those like Rambo 2, Predator 2 etc. I also need to do a "Finish this series already poll"

Ok Vote Away!

Poll will end on Nov 8th! Vote only once this time!

Comments

Michael Enos

Hey this poll ends on my birthday!!

James UK

This is an impossible choice!

Wolverine

BILL AND TED’S BOGUS JOURNEY!! The best of the trilogy

Wes

Superman 2 then skip to Man of Steel please

Jason Fulbright

Your original Superman 78 was the first reaction I ever watched. Love to see the sequel!

Eric Parpart

It’s not doing great but please do Crocodile Dundee II. It’s better than the first in my opinion.

Brett Richey

The right answer is A Shot in the Dark to make up for the original Pink Panther film... but it won't win. Superman 2 it is then.

Elias Shaikh

I hope Psycho 2 will be on a future list!

Stick Figure Studios

If SUPERMAN 2 wins (and I hope it does; I voted for it) you have to watch the theatrical version.

LukeG84

I voted for Crocodile Dundee 2. Doesn’t look like it’s going to win though. Shame. Cassie would have enjoyed that one.

Edward Robson

Although i voted for grumpier old men, all of these are absolutely worth a watch, I think you would enjoy all of them

Joe J

Superman 2 gets my vote this time around.

crispyg29

Hope Austin powers wins love that movie

Jennifer Medicus

Some of these, honestly, aren't great movies. I love Superman 2 more than the first one but I'm here for Grumpier Old Men.

Popcorn In Bed

Happy Early Birthday Michael!! Nov 8 is a great day!

Stick Figure Studios

I do think she should watch SHOT IN THE DARK at some point, but I'm more eager for SUPERMAN 2.

Ria Grix

Choose only ONE!!‽ There’s at least four on there that are a ‘Popcorn essentials’

Cole Jennett

Grumpier Old Men for me! I think she and Carly would enjoy it the most out of a lot of movies they would enjoy😊

Jens Kristensen

Yes, "Superman 2" get my vote - it has some fantastic scenes that I have loved since childhood...

nick bell

Not a big sequel guy. They usually suck. But Superman 2 is pretty awesome.

Story Archer

Considering how much she loved Romancing the Stone, it kills me that Jewel of the Nile is doing so poorly.

MikeLL

My heart goes to A Shot in The Dark, but I went with Supes 2. I think Cassie would love it! A tough poll!

Stick Figure Studios

I still think the original is better, but that second one was good.

Todzilla

Not seeing Robocop or Predator 🤔 Well at least Bill & Ted and Superman made the list.

Jeff Rogers

Yeah, but let's face it, it wasn't as good as the original

Jon Johns

Cue the debates about "The Donner Cut" -- If you know where it's avail, please share, and if you know the run time difference, PLEASE post that, too!

JPDotCom23

Dude, where’s ’Godfather II’?

FleetAdmiralJ

I get why its low on the list but I love Jewel of the Nile (also you've seen Romancing the Stone? I'm gonna have to find that one)

Stick Figure Studios

While not the masterpiece the original Hitchcock film is, PSYCHO 2 is a surprisingly good sequel.

Cole Jennett

She has seen it, do you mean 3?

Michael Enos

Thank you so much! Have an awesome week!

Gray

I also want Dundee 2 but looks like we're gonna have to wait til next year

Elias Shaikh

Yes I agree. Psycho 2 was well done, and actor Anthony Perkins was reported to have cried listening to the new theme music by Jerry Goldsmith, really powerful music that captures the feeling of a a character struggling with mental illness, and years of being in an institution.

Walter

I was torn between Bill & Ted and Superman II… the rest of that list doesn’t really interest me. Maybe Jewel of the Nile 3rd…

Mark White

I would LOVE Croc 2 to win! Because Cassie and Carly would really enjoy it. But I imagine Cassie will watch that in January on Australia Day anyway. To be fare, most of these would be worth a watch for Cassie. But Superman 2 would be a obvious choice.

Joel Cagle

Please, if Superman wins use the Donner cut. He is the original director that the producers let go but WB brought back years later to re edit the film because the theatrical version was not well received (to put it mildly) . The producers did things like cut all of Brando's scenes so they wouldn't have to pay him and cheaper special effects ect.... all because the didn't want to cut their profits.

Doc Larry/old geezer

I always go for the long shot three men and a lady it is just a feel good movie.

Elias Shaikh

Superman 2, unfortunately has been redone in a Richard Donner cut, which changed the whole storyline of the theatrical and tv release. I grew up with the tv release which was approximately the same as the theatrical with a few deleted scenes added. I think Cassie ought to watch some version that uses at least the theatrical and/or tv release. The Donner version absolutely changed the story, whereas the historical popularity and success was with the original releases.

Dan M

So many good choices again, and so difficult to decide. I narrowed it down to Superman II and Austin Powers TSWSM because I think they’re both better than the original movies. It’s tough to pass up on Christopher Reeves in an epic showdown with the baddies, but I think we’ve seen enough superhero movies lately, so I’m going with Austin and his mojo…Oh Behave!Plus, I just need to see Cassie laughing again after a rough October. But I’ll be just as happy with Superman II.

Chris Retzlaff

It's kind of wonky, and some of the effects are unfinished or bad, I had to go back buy the other copy. I think she would like the theatrical cut

Brett Richey

A Shot in the Dark is the first proper film. The original is so slow and in completely the wrong direction. They knew it was because of Sellers being the only good thing in it - 94% on Rotten Tomatoes 🍅 and with good reason.

JohnnyUtah

Man, love Jewel of the Nile it was one of my first movies as a kid, not happening though. Superman 2 it is.

David Freese

Yes its both on Patreon and on YouTube from I believe earlier this year.

Tommy Masters

Crocodile Dundee 2!!!!! Come on!

Chris Retzlaff

This list is like asking me who my favorite child is.....please let me pick 3 or 4 🤣🤣

Dean Holt

Pretty much like all these other than Pink Panther just not really a fan of the franchise. Also would love to see you react to Predator 2 it’s so underrated Imo. Not really a fan of the Rambo sequel as they just turned into standard 80s action type movies, but you probably would get some good YouTube numbers for them.

Chris Retzlaff

Not as good as the first, but Jewel was a solid sequel

Dan M

I know right? It makes the choice even more difficult.

Stick Figure Studios

The theatrical cut is an actual movie. The Donner cut is just an extended special feature.

David Freese

Man you have such an old soul. Superman 2 and Austin Powers is so much a funner group of films. How bout as a Christmas movie?

Elias Shaikh

True. The original was good enough but audiences loved the characters and wanted to see the story continue, it just made sense to have sequels.

Dan M

We need to see Cassie laughing again, and Carly if she decides to watch along.

Chris Retzlaff

These sequels.....they must kneel.....kneel before Zod

Elias Shaikh

The Superman movies that followed after the first two weren’t as good, but give credit for Christopher Reeve for giving his best no matter what.

Chris Retzlaff

I like the Donner cut, but it's to unfinished in spots, and I think Cassie will like the theatrical

Justtired

Only one! Yikes! I hope you get to react to most of these. I’d stop after Superman 2. The franchise falls apart after that one.

Chris Brown

Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, only so you get closer to watching the final Bill and Ted Face the Music payoff for the trilogy.

Elias Shaikh

That’s an interesting way to look at it.

Stick Figure Studios

SUPERMAN 2 was very well-received both critically and commercially (it made over $200 million on a $50 million budget). Most people considered it better than the first and many still do (I do not, but I get why they say that) . Yes, the way Donner was treated by the producers was shameful and he should have been allowed to finish what he started, but right or wrong that's just not the way it went down and while I am, in a sense, glad that Donner got to come back and do a version that could somewhat approximate his original vision, the theatrical cut is still the official version and imo the better one. Both films are sort of patchwork quilts (if you know where to look for the seams), but they are more obvious in Donner's version. The theatrical cut is an actual movie. The Donner cut is just an extended special feature. If she wants to eventually check out the Donner cut for comparison, I have no problem with that, but she should see the theatrical cut first.

Dan M

Yeah, I think the original was better as well. It’s just not as funny as the first one.

Mitchell Jones

You're killing me Cassie, you have sooooooo many of my favorite sequels on this pole that it was hard for me to pick one so I just closed my eyes and tapped my vote but I do hope you watch most of them

Stick Figure Studios

The Donner cut is an interesting experiment. An opportunity to "right" the wrong of how he was treated by the Salkinds, a glimpse (through as glass darkly) of what *could* have been, and I'm glad it exists for Donner's sake, but it's not really a complete film. For all its flaws, the theatrical cut is a real movie (and still the "official" version). The Donner cut, as I've said in a few comments already, is just an extended special feature.

Eric Parpart

I agree. First one was funnier. I liked the second because it was more like a thriller but a comic thriller.

greggreggreg2000

I've been waiting so long for Grumpier Old Men. Looks like I'll have to wait a little longer lol

Mike Lemon

Hard disagree on that one, kind of. The Christopher Reeve's ones, yes, but Superman Returns was great-ish, minus the one character.

Clay F

I am generally not big on sequels and not excited about any of the movies in this poll. I am glad that Superman 2 is winning. The Pink Panther sequel (which I don't think I've seen) might be interesting. Crococile Dundee 2 is at 8% of the vote and has a RT rating of 9%. Makes sense that Blade 2 is not in the poll because of how the first Blade was received. Glad that Predator 2 (the thrill of the hunt is gone) isn't a poll candidate. I hope there is not another sequel poll anytime soon. I wonder if a "Finish this series already" poll would include S2 of "Last of Us" if any good. How about a "Noms of Oscars Past" poll?

Mark White

Now this is fascinating. Croc 2 is way down the peaking order here, but when in comes to how many views the original movies got on YouTube, it’s way out in front with 467k views! Does this mean people don’t like the sequel? or does it mean people on Patron tend to have different tastes to the general YouTube audience?

Joe J

Robocop 2 puts fear in her heart. 😆

WestBound

YT vs Patreon is always night and day

WestBound

It has no chance ...use your vote elsewhere

Joe J

The one with Richard Pryor, Cassie be like " stop it, that's gonna give me nightmares".😆

Wes

Agreed. Reeves is the definitive Superman in my eyes.

Joe J

Just do the theatrical cut, please. The one everyone saw!.

Mark White

I think there is a good argument for Croc 1 being better than Croc 2, but there is no way it deserves a 9% rating on RT! It’s a good sequel. Maybe Croc 3, now that I would understand!

David Kent

I voted for Superman 2, though I would put Austin Powers as a #2 choice.

Gray

Will probably switch to Austin Powers if it's closer towards the end of the poll, always good to have more comedy on the schedule.

Justtired

I should have clarified. My comment was referring to the Christopher Reeve franchise, not the later films. Superman Returns is worth watching. Also, while I’m not a huge fan of the DCEU, it definitely has some good films in there. Some of the DC tv series are fun. I highly recommend The Penguin.

Mark White

Actually now I think about it Clay, there are a lot of ‘third’ movies which are terrible! Jaws3, Superman 3 and Bev hills cop 3 was a complete joke!

Cole Jennett

I have a feeling that she will be watching The Last of Us as soon as it drops. She enjoyed it too much not to, and would want to eliminate potential spoilers. Interesting stance on sequels. A lot of sequels may not be as good as the original but they are often still very good.

Clay F

Cole, good point about Last of Us. There are good sequels (e.g., Aliens) but rare imo.

Bryan Erickson

Henry Cavill was done dirty. He is a perfect Superman. His only problem is that his movies had to be part of the DCEU.

Gábor Árki

Seems like Superman 2 is taking this. If so, I would recommend watching the theatrical cut first. Although I like the Richard Donner Cut, and I think it could have been a superior movie compared to Lester's version, it is not a properly finished film and in its current form is more like a bonus material.

Cole Jennett

I agree Joe, but the squeaky wheels get the grease when it comes to different versions of movies. Most people just assume it will be the theatrical and don’t make their case and then the other one gets watched.

Clay F

Mark, we all have our personal tastes and I have had this discussion with good people who like Crocodile Dundee II. IMDb 6.6, RT 89% (audience 59%) = Crocodile Dundee (1986) --a financial success IMDb 5.7, RT 9% (audience 38%) = Crocodile Dundee II (1988) --"Retelling its predecessor's same joke with diminishing returns, Crocodile Dundee II sees the franchise's enjoyability go down under." "Too slow to constitute an adventure and has too few laughs to be a comedy."

Lucien

Jewel of the Nile is not a well regarded sequel. As good as Romancing the Stone is--Jewel is forgettable. Same for Crocodile Dundee 2. Superman 2 is a great sequel. While not usually in my wheelhouse the Grumpier series is packed with actors that were major stars in their day. The outtakes at the end are quite funny as well with them trying to find more and more outrageous things for Burgess to say;)

Rick Rodriguez

I'd be curious how Cassie reacted to Superman Returns. Since it is more of a love story than an action movie.

Just Plain Bob

Agree totally about watching the theatrical cut of Superman 2. Not only was the Donner Cut incomplete, but it conflicts with the ending of the first movie. Without knowing the full background, I think Cassie would be completely baffled by the Donner Cut ending.

Matt Rose

A SHOT IN THE DARK all day, every day. One of the single funniest films I've ever seen.

Gábor Árki

Donner shot around 70-80% of the movie, but an ending wasn't filmed nor was it even written when he was fired. So, they had to work with what they had, even if it doesn't really make sense. I do like the more serious tone of this version compared to what we got. But the Donner cut it is simply an unfinished movie that can only give you a taste of what it could have been.

Richard Maurer

Was going to mention Bride of Frankenstein then I remembered it’s old and B&W so it would get destroyed on this poll. Voted Austin Powers but I won’t be sad if Superman II wins.

Grad

100%

Stephen Dias

All good movies. I do enjoy it when Cassie (and Carly) watch the classics, so I voted for "A Shot in the Dark." Honestly, I haven't seen it in a long time; I may just watch it again anyway.

Lyle Morgan

Crocodile Dundee 2 is not a “good” movie. However, it’s incredibly endearing and rewatchable and I’m guessing it’s the one you and Carly would enjoy the most based on how much you loved the first one.

Bill Maurer

Superman 2 is one of the best sequels made. I love Peter Sellers and the Pink Panther as well

Just Plain Bob

The only way “Bride of Frankenstein”, or any other classic horror movie, gets selected in a poll is if the poll is comprised entirely of classic horror movies. Recency bias is just too strong. It’s too bad, not only are they terrific films, but they are integral to any true cinephile’s education.

Cathleen Jennings

Cassie will LOVE 3 Men and a Little Lady - but, if it's between Austin and Superman: AUSTIN!!!!!!

Rosario Cicero

General Zod is the master of all he surveys

Omar

Austin!!!!!!

zynjams

a shot in the dark is 100% better then the pink panther

Stick Figure Studios

Oh, man. It's looking like it's going to come down to AUSTIN POWERS and SUPERMAN 2. If It's close enough, I hope she watches them both.

Stranger2Reality

Is there any movie in this poll that can even challenge him?!

V M

I voted for superman 2

YodatheHobbit

I understand that seeing Superman 2 is important, but man that is so boring to rewatch once you've seen it a million times, haha. Plus I've watched 2 or 3 others recently react to Spy Who Shagged Me last month so if that wins it's gonna feel very deja vu. I need more romantic comedies in my life lately to motivate me IRL, so there's about 4 others on here I'd rather win, but luckily whichever wins I'm sure Cassie will enjoy it.

Shawn Kildal

With the new Christopher Reeve movie coming out, I'm voting for Superman although I'm going to be still anxiously awaiting Grumpier Old Men and 3 Men and a Little Lady

Clarence Newman
>>154435847

Me too, but only because Crocodile Dundee is doing less than bonzer. She'll have to keep that one for Australia Day. The lack of love for Shot In The Dark, though, is appalling.

Shawn Kildal

I'm also hoping Cassie would consider doing the Super/Man Christopher Reeve movie as well. I hear it's incredible.

Tonda DaRe

Well you can certainly tell there are more males than females on this one 😆

Joe J

Superman Returns was just average for me, Routh just didn't have any star power in the role.

Silver Machine

I’m thrilled that Superman 2 is winning! Did not expect it to be so popular. (Please watch the original theatrical cut! The Donner Cut is for hardcore fans only)

Mike Lemon

I tried. It was on my list of recommended sequels in the last "upcoming."

Silver Machine

The Donner cut is an interesting bonus. But it is incomplete with a redundant ending. It really should only be watched after seeing the theatrical cut.

Mike Lemon

I only mention Returns because it is a "spiritual sequel" to the Reeve's movies. But where DC really shines is the animated movies.

Richard Maurer

I’ve been mentioning movies like this lately just to point out how they really don’t get a fair chance. I don’t really believe they’ll get on a poll or actually win if they did.

Clarence Newman

Sometimes the voting on these polls baffles me. Superman 2 is probably the best of the lot, so that's fine, but how is Grumpier Old Men ahead of A Shot In The Dark? There have been a few calls for Grumpier Old Men, but when Cassie watched The Pink Panther, there were a TON of people saying please please please watch Shot In The Dark so you can see Clouseau in full bloom. The opportunity to give her that arises and everyone disappears in a cloud of dust! Croc Dundee 2 is perfect for Australia Day next January, and I won't comment on Austin Powers (Cassie seems to like him), but it's a bit of a crime that the one film she would probably enjoy the most (3 Men and a Little Lady) isn't getting a sniff. I get the feeling she'll end up watching all but one of these eventually (Jewel Of The Nile is not really worth it), but for now, the numbers don't look right.

Bill Maurer

Yes, Blade 2 is the best of all the Blade trilogy.

Bill Maurer

Agree. I went with Superman 2. Just as good a movie, but A Shot in the Dark is hilarious

Cole Jennett

Granted it came out more recently, The Pink Panther has 77k views on YouTube versus 164k for Grumpy Old Men.

Clarence Newman

Yes, but the Pink Panther was a crap movie intended as a vehicle for an over-the-hill David Niven. That was the whole point of telling Cassie that she needed to watch A Shot In The Dark - so she could get a true sense of what a great character Clouseau became.

V M

Goldmember was the best/funniest Austin Powers movie by far.

Seven Coughlin

I picked grumpier old men over Superman because I know u will love that movie!!! Hope it wins!

Stick Figure Studios

I would keep an eye on it over the next few days, because I highly doubt it's going to catch up to either of the two front runners. If it doesn't, you might consider switching your boat back to SUPERMAN 2 because it actually has a chance of winning.

Clarence Newman

Richard. Please unvote Austin Powers and vote for Superman 2. I will then vote for Bride of Frankenstein when it's next on a poll. Deal?

Clarence Newman

We'll be badgering her non-stop until she watches that one. She's not getting away.

Clarence Newman

The sequel is brilliant! People who don't vote for it suck! It's very simple.

Clarence Newman

I agree with both of you. Cassie needs to watch it, but it won't win here and she and Carly will pick it for Austrralia Day. If they don't, well, it's just an insult to all their Aussie fans.

Clarence Newman

Exactly, Stick. I think Michael's story in 3 would be very cathartic for Cassie. Pacino is just brilliant.

Richard Maurer

Superman 2 is winning at this point. If it’s losing later on I’ll consider changing my vote.

Jeffrey Joll

A Shot in the Dark is a great comedy but I suspect that few people in this group have seen it.

ROBERT CLARK

This is a real tough one. There are 4 films in hear which I really like and think you'll really enjoy

Faramir's Rangers

greatest running gags throughout the movie that just build

Celeste McAllister (edited)

2026-11-01 00:00 I went with 'Sup2'...."That's why they call them Terrorists Kent!".....
2024-11-05 22:34

Joe J

I've seen many requests for "Grumpier Old Men" also.

Rob

Superman 2 is a great sequel. Better than the original. Definitely stop after 2, though

Gro Do

What? No Nuclear Man?!

Chris

even if it loses the poll watch A Shot in the Dark!!

Clay F

Grumpier Old Men is a great example of why to avoid sequels generally. Has some great old actors but just not a good movie. Not as funny as the first. A "wheezier" retread cash grab. "The heart of the first one is replaced by extra fart jokes."

Clay F

She didn't like Blade. The Blade franchise may be over on the channel.

Marja

And I always think: isn’t that the point - to expose yourself to movies you’ve never seen before? But no, I’m always wrong. Which is a shame because A Shot in the Dark set the standard, the blueprint for so much to follow. And Peter Sellers is a comedy legend in a way that we seldom see these days, IMO.

Marja

Peter Sellers is such an important person in the comedy fabric, and his legacy is felt by all major comedic actors and performers, from Monty Python, Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy to Will Ferrell, Sacha Baron Cohen and the guys behind This Is Spinal Tap. His work is worth investigating, watching and ingesting. To see him play multiple roles in Dr. Strangelove and then 15 years later get an Oscar nom for Being There, a political satire, is outrageous and heartbreaking, as he died at the age of 54 (the year after Being There was released).

Nolofinwe

All of these are mediocre you’re leaving so many classics out of the equation

Chris Thom

Another Austin Powers reaction would be hilarious...but Superman 2 seems more essential. Also heard there's a good doc out right now about Reeves and family.

Chris Thom

2 is the one with Zod and the floating squares of banishment?

Chris Thom

Pretty much a sausage fest on all votes Tonda. Apologies.

Chris Thom

Damn Croc has almost 500k views? Forgot what a big hit that movie was. Gen-X can tell us best I guess.

Chris Thom

Still haven't seen that yet.

Chris Thom

Anthony Perkins is a solid actor. Not a bad director, too.

Chris Thom

Ok good. Because the one with the epic moon battle is pretty spotty. lol

Elias Shaikh

One of Anthony Perkins’ last performances was an unsold TV sitcom pilot called Ghost Writer and he was great, (I didn’t know he could do comedy).

V M
>>154439974

The first two Austin Powers movies were bad. Goldmember is good.

V M
>>154423982

It has a couple funny moments. Nowhere near as good as the first.

Doc Savage

For the record, Superman 1 & 2 were filmed together but edited into 2 parts. Also Superman Returns is the intended and most Donner-esc 3rd and final installment which I personally love alongside the 1st two. In my mind, Superman 3 & 4 do not exist and should not be watched.

Clarence Newman

I don't like this oppressive "only one vote" stuff. I need to vote at least 50 more times for A Shot In the Dark.

Clarence Newman

To be fair, most of those YT views are me.

Gray

lets just keep it at 27% each then she has to watch both :D

Richard Maurer

@V M - bias are generally evil, they lead to close-mindedness. But we all have them.

Clarence Newman

Rule of thumb, Richard - I'm always joking. Except when I'm not, but that will always be obvious. It's an Emperor's Clothes kind of thing.

JPDotCom23

Oh yes, I guess I meant 3, I gotta go back and see if I saw her reaction to 2. And yes, I, too, believe she should watch Part 3. While there's been a lot of backlast about Coppola's daughter being cast in a key role, like Roger Ebert, I didn't mind Sofia Coppola in the role, she brought a certain amount of vulnerability and simplicity to the role that gave that situation with Vincent a more unique outcome. Yes, I agree, it's hard to set that aside and watch the movie on its own merit but once you do overlook the flawed acting by the director's daughter, you'll see what a great story this is, what a good movie this is, and certainly, one of Pacino's best performances. His scenes with Diane Keaon as Kay, were magical. I kept telling people to watch this on its own merit and try not to compare it to the first two, because what movie could stay in the same league as them. Coppola was under tremendous pressure to finish the movie for Christmas 1990, had he been given more time, this movie would've been as close to perfect with the first two, but it isn't, it needs to be viewed on its own, not overshadowed by its parent movies.

Nolofinwe

ive seen every one except "grumpier" s ome are ok movies but hardly anything to write home . Jewel of the Niles awful bogus adventure it's not up to speed . Three men and a little lady ? give me a break . Superman II that was good , but the girls have classics of every genre from every decade that they haven't seen , it just seems to me to be a waste ...just sayin

Richard Maurer

Happens to me a lot too. I often put one of these ;-) or ! at the end of a sentence to show I’m joking. The ! because I’m almost never that enthusiastic.

Clarence Newman

Each to their own, Nolo, but it kind of depends on what you're looking for. Croc Dundee 2 is EXACTLY what I wanted in the sequel to Croc 1. Superman 2 is a definite step up from Supe 1. Three Men and a Little Lady? Not our cup of tea maybe, but Cassie would love it.

bgb1975 (Brian)

Hard choice here. I went with Grumpier, not necessarily because I think it's the best movie listed, but because I think Cassie's (and hopefully Carly's) reaction to this one would be the most fun to watch. Would also be happy with Superman II or A Shot in the Dark.

bgb1975 (Brian)

"Jeepers, Mr. White...that's terrible!" Jackie Cooper was a great Mr. White. Everyone here knows that he was one of the original "Little Rascals", right?

bgb1975 (Brian)

Hmmm.....I dunno....Can't say I'm not a hardcore fan, but there were certain things in the Donner Cut that just made it so much better, IMHO. Unfortunately can't get into them without major spoilers.....

Clay F

Agree

Clay F

Agree that most are mediocre.

Clay F

Pre-1970 movie typically don't stand a chance in a poll with post-1970 movies.

Clay F

Good point Stick

Stick Figure Studios

@Clay: He didn't say "most" are mediocre. He said "all" are mediocre.

Stick Figure Studios

@(Nolo)fine - Well, remember that the whole point of this poll was to select a sequel (one that is only the second entry in a series) to a movie Cassie has already seen and she has watched SUPERMAN, GRUMPY OLD MEN, BILL & TED'S EXCELLENT ADVANTURE, etc. Within those parameters, what classic titles would you have included?

WestBound

It has no shot so place your vote somewhere that matters lol

Chris Thom

I've never heard of Shot in the Dark. But the support for it is making me interested.

phillip giroux

I know it'll never win, but I think Cassie would love 3 Men and a Little Lady.

Chris Thom

Had never heard of it before this poll.

fish_thefilmcollector

If she watches the theatrical cut I doubt she'd ever watch the Donner Cut. I'll be happy either way.

RandyCC

Definitely Austin Powers. Mini-me is not to be missed. Also, Zip-it Scott (I'll say no more). :)

If it was Goldmember I probably wouldve voted for Austin Powers

Clarence Newman

The theme tune is better than The Pink Panther too.

The One Man Reaction Faction

If Superman 2 wins, the question then becomes: Original theatrical release or the Donnor Cut?

bgb1975 (Brian)

I'm assuming she plans on watching the theatrical version, but I have been unsuccessfully canvassing for the Donner cut!

Keith Jones

Heart wants to vote for Dundy 2, but Superman2 is a close second and Austin must be stopped…

Keith Jones

I love this comment, but now will have to rewatch and try to apply a more “sterile“ watch.

Keith Jones

I’m probably good for 100

Stick Figure Studios

And AUSTIN POWERS pulls ahead, so if any of you were considering switching your vote to SUPERMAN 2, now's the time.

Stick Figure Studios

She said in a chat that she might put in a poll which version to watch... which terrifies me.

Stick Figure Studios

I agree. The first 5 minutes alone of GOLD MEMBER would make the whole reaction worth it. TSWSM Is the weakest of the three imo.

Stick Figure Studios

The first one is good. The second one is bad. The third one is good.

Clarence Newman

Did I write this post? I could've written this post.

Where do you see the number of votes? All I see is Superman 2 and Austin Powers are tied at 27%

Stick Figure Studios

Okay. I just switched to an online version (I was previously looking at it on my patreon app) and I see them both tied at 27%. The question then becomes: which one is more recent?

Leroy Y

I highly recommend the Richard Donner Cut of Superman 2. The short version of the story is Richard Donner was replaced with another director who made some... interesting choices tonally. In 2006 Warner Bros. let Richard Donner assemble the best version of what his intent was from available footage of his original version and the replacement director's footage.

Stick Figure Studios

According to the actual numbers, AUSTIN POWERS Is ahead of SUPERMAN 2 By about 10 votes. :-(

Stick Figure Studios

It's a fascinating experiment and I'm glad Donner got the chance to do it, but it's incomplete and really best watched after the theatrical cut (which is still the better film imo) simply for comparison. I hope Cassie watches Lester's version instead. It is an actual movie. Donner's cut is an extended special feature.

Stick Figure Studios

@Clarence - I wouldn't go that far myself. It's a great theme and I love it (I remember it from those "Inspector" cartoons I used to watch as as kids), but Mancini's "Pink Panther" theme is transcendant, truly on of the greatest movie themes ever written.

Stick Figure Studios

@Chris - It's a wonderful movie. Utterly hilarious (dinner than its predecessor) and introduces more of the characters that would record throughout the series.

Stick Figure Studios

If you haven't already, now's your chance to change your vote because SUPERMAN is now losing to AUSTIN POWERS. :-(

Jon Johns

Nolo, I guess I understand your frustration that Cassie is not choosing to watch the films you believe are 'great', but do you understand the purpose of the poll? Do you take into consideration at all the mass majority of both Patreon members, and Youtube members want these movies? Do you hold the rest of us in such contempt that you think our taste is trash? And that only your choices should be watched? You mentioned in your original post, "Out of the equation" and I am curious, what sequels to what movies that she has watched are left off this poll? If you are just generally saying, she should not watch sequels, but instead choose to watch other movies, and not do polls... How does one make a living off that plan? One last thing, Have you upvoted or added all your 'great film' suggestions to the Request website? Just making sure that your actual choices are known, r4ecorded, and others have an opportunity to also upvote them.

Jon Johns

Richard, Cassie intentionally left off any sequels to monster, horror, and horror-adjacent films.

bgb1975 (Brian)

Done. Vote changed from Grumpier to Soup 2.

bgb1975 (Brian)

I think this is worthy of another thread after PiB has seen them both so we can discuss without spoiling it for Cassie!

Leroy Y

oh definitely... would not want to spoil it for sure. just letting her know there are 2 very imo distinctly different vision/versions of the movies to watch to fully appreciate Superman 2

Leroy Y

I can respect the opinion that it feels more complete, but the Donner cut is tonally more in line with the original.

Richard Maurer

@ Jon Johns - I know, that was kind of my point. And let’s be real Bride of Frankenstein isn’t, by any stretch of the imagination, scary. My original post however was mainly about the anti-old movie bias but thanks for bringing up the anti-horror bias too.

Seven Coughlin

Changed it yesterday. Appreciate the heads up though!!! TY Stick!!!

Clay F

I am no expert, but for a first watch, I suggest the theatrical cut.

Clay F

Yeah, yesterday I think I saw the actual numbers of votes on Discord. Austin Powers is winning.

ChristopherTracy

Watch all of them eventually. They’re all pretty good movies in their own ways

Nolofinwe

What the heck are you talking about you're the one who sounds frustrated and I don't hold anybody in contempt. I made my choice in that category and my my opinion of the ordinary nature of the movies .so swhat ? I don't care if Cassie picks one of my suggestions or not I've seen all the great classsic movies, she is the one who has not . Think there are many many truly great classic films that she has yet to experience. How to make a Golden Globe winners that would be good for her to watch , not because Id get all giddy if she did. Because we brought our understanding enjoyment of all movies and whether you like it or not it's true .

Gray

Has a poll ever ended even before?

Superman 2 was pretty good, the rest arent my cup of tea.

Cassie humming the pink panther theme was the best part of her pink panther reaction

V M
>>154425601

two of my favorite movies, the sting and dog day afternoon, dont have many views, but both are really good movies, one won best picture and the other was nominated for best picture.

V M

Who won?

Chris Thom

She said a movie won by four votes once.

Chris Thom

Yeah I see 27 to 27 percent still.

Richard Maurer

The Fly lost by one vote, to what I don’t remember.

Clay F

VM, my thought also.. Though, I would be okay with the Pink Panther sequel.

Chris Thom

On Patreon site on laptop.

JDressler

You and Carly still have to watch Crocodile Dundee 2.

Clay F

I respectfully disagree. They should skip Crocodile Dundee 2

Darren Harrison

As much as I appreciate the Donner cut of “Superman II” it’s not the quality of the Lester theatrical cut. This is not the fault of Donner it’s just the fact that a lot of his material was never filmed in a final form and is rough. The theatrical cut is the only way to go, and I believe in many ways the Theatrical cut of “Superman II” is superior to “Superman”
