Ok woah! No spoilers but how are we going to talk about this without spoilers because OMG. I guess just make sure not to read the comments until you've seen the movie! As I’ve said before I am loving these types of thrillers lately and Kevin Costner and Gene Hackman are some of my favorites! This left me with a lot of questions though haha!

PS: I forgot to mention that this was the request from this months Pick-A-Flick winner, Blue Canary!

Comments

Michael Lynch

Ooooohhhh! Good one. A young Kevin Costner, and Gene Hackman. What’s not to love?

Red Dwarf

Oooooo! I never saw this until I was with my hubby who said it was good. It is so freaking intense and that ending is gold. I know what I will be rewatching tonight!

Wes

Classic thriller

Night King01

Funny enough the movie still works even without the twist.

christopher b swanson

I cant wait to watch this you.........i just posted on the coming soon because i was so excited by this choice, 1 of my faves and 1 of the most underrated spy thrillers ever

nick bell

This is such a forgotten great film with a great twist!

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, this is one of those cool 1980s political thrillers with such a neat twist you don't see coming (like SIXTH SENSE or USUAL SUSPECTS) that makes it difficult to talk about without discussing the twist. Nevertheless, a great movie that I'm sure you and Carly ended up enjoying. Kevin Costner and Gene Hackman are in top form, but Will Patton is also quite good. If you enjoyed the suspenseful situations played out in this one, another thriller I recommend is OUT OF TIME with Denzel Washington. Pretty similar. Looking forward to this reaction. :-)

Dan M

This will be my first time watching this movie, so I’m glad I’m getting my comment in early so I don’t see any potential spoilers. Can’t wait to watch this tonight. I’m in the mood for a good thriller. It’s been a minute since KC has been back on the channel. What was your thirst level for him in this movie?

Shehab Dawoud

One of the few movies where Costner actually does a decent acting job. So I'm not mad that this was chosen. Hell, I may even give it a watch.

Stick Figure Studios
>>165379103

I've noticed that. The twist is almost unnecessary. Like THE SIXTH SENSE, it's a satisfyingly drama even without it.

Katie Jackson

Enemy of the State (Gene Hackman & Will Smith) Breach (true story) Baby Driver (Ansel Elgort, Lily James, Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx) Insomnia (Al Pacino & Robin Williams) Three Days of the Condor (Robert Redford & Faye Dunaway) Marathon Man (Dustin Hoffman) Manhunter (Prequel to Silence of the Lambs with differnt actors) Sea of Love (Al Pacino & Ellen Barkin) Collateral (Tom Cruise & Jamie Foxx) Smila's Sense of Snow (Julia Ormond) Blow Out (John Travolta)

Rose

Cassie - if you aren’t already watching on your own, I would highly recommend Kevin Costner’s “Yellowstone.” He also has a new show: “Yellowstone to Yosemite.” It’s a fascinating journey with your one and only *.^ as he retraces President Teddy Roosevelt and John Muir's historic 1903 journey through Yosemite and their role in preserving America’s national treasures. Also for a couple stellar Gene Hackman movies would love to see you react to “The French Connection” (1971) & “Bonnie and Clyde” (1967).

Night King01
>>165379103

Yeah it could have worked even as a red herring but I guess they wanted that extra oomph at the end

Above Average Dave
>>165379161

OUT OF TIME is a good one. That one reminds me of ENEMY OF THE STATE, which reminds me of THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR.

Vlad D

This is a great thriller. I'll catch the YT edit. My girlfriend and I just watched this move in December.

Kit Taylor

SO glad you guys watched this! Incredibly underrated movie.

John Drake

Great intro, Cassie trying, and failing,to convince Carly that it's not going to be scary. BTW Nina is played by "Iman" - David Bowies wife.

Above Average Dave
>>165380913

Such a good call on the new Costner documentary, and I think Yellowstone, at least up to this year, was an instant go to. I can't believe I forgot to add THE FRENCH CONNECTION to my list, Rose. Thanks for keeping us honest (and I promise I won't say THE THIRD MAN or KEY LARGO. Honest I won't). ADDED: Speaking of Kevin Costner, a nice companion to BONNIE AND CLYDE is THE HIGHWAY MEN with said Mr. Costner and Woody Harrelson.

Bill Maurer

Gene Hackman is a great, great actor. Does not get the credit he did before he retired. He's remarkable in every movie he's ever been in and he's been in quite a few.

Ted Whalen

This is such a great movie! I am not to sure if it is on your list but Jagged Edge is another great suspense/court room movie from the 80’s.

Above Average Dave
>>165379458

Tom Cruise's hair alone should've been nominated for best supporting actor, Clay (and I'm only half, or maybe even one-third kidding). Brilliant call by Michael Mann to "de-Tom Cruise" Tom Cruise with just that one semi-subtle touch.

Above Average Dave

Also, would JFK count as a thriller? Or will it be a documentary once they release the files? (ducks...for now)

Rose
>>165380913

I got your back Dave! lol these films are amazing and thanks for suggesting “The Highwaymen.” Haven’t seen it yet.

Clay Douglass Major

One of my all time favorite films, just watched the 4K release the other day! And after loving this film for almost 40 years I FINALLY watched the classic Ray Milland/Charles Laughton film it was based on (The Big Clock, 1948) and WOW, was that a blast! So much fun to map the plot points between the two, and Charles Laughton was just eating the scenery. Highly recommended!

Sandra Jewitt

What's better than a man in uniform? A man in a dress uniform.

Blue Canary

Thank you both for this reaction! Two thoughts for you: - In 1987, US-Soviet tensions were quite high. No one knew the Cold War would start to end only two years later. - The feelings you have as the ending credits roll are intentional. They leave huge questions unanswered and it’s OK for us to disagree on how to answer them. I hope it's OK for me to suggest unpacking the ending into four separate questions. I’ll try to do this in a spoiler-free-ish way. 1. Was X in love? (yes/no/not at first) 2. Did X act morally? Did they “do the right thing” at each step? (yes/no) 3. What does X do next? (continue/reverse/check out/return). 4. Is X a villain? (yes/no/unclear) My claim is that the first three questions are independent of each other! They don't have to be resolved in such a way that makes you comfortable. My answers would be (not at first, yes, continue!, yes!). I can’t prove those answers, they’re just my guesses. Answering yes to both Q2 and Q4 makes me uncomfortable, but that's OK and makes it even more interesting to me. If it's OK for me to ask this here, I'd be quite excited if others would share their answers to those four questions. Cassie, thank you again for this reaction, for the contest, and for Popcorn in Bed. Your commitment to your craft and the effort and care you put into it are evident and appreciated.

Fantasy, psychology, special interest, thriller, romantic drama. Featuring a special appearance by John Goodman.

Chris Thom
>>165379458

Second all those. And maybe The Bone Collector for some random Angelina fun.

Chris Thom
>>165379458

That was some solid hair work and I'm not totally sure why. Pretty sure it was just a touch of gray. But it really fit the movie somehow.

Above Average Dave
>>165383419

Costner was just all in for JFK. And so many good—albeit small—performances, especially Kevin Bacon and Joe Pesci. In fact, there is a very short scene with the latter that I have long found absolutely terrifying.

Chris Thom
>>165383419

I always go right to John Goodman. He was such a character in that. Bigger than life. Edit: John CANDY. Dang. Realizing I'm now four years older than Costner in this and I'm not handling it well. lol

Above Average Dave
>>165383419

True that. He was a revelation in RAISING ARIZONA. Of course, Tex Cobb stole every scene he was in, but Goodman ruled.

Thomas Thompson

If you like this kind of Cold War political thriller, you’d love the year of living dangerously starring a young Mel Gibson Sigourney Weaver in 1960s Indonesia oh yeah, with romance

Above Average Dave
>>165382724

I believe he was the best American actor fron 1970 until he retired. The range was incredible. And everytime you thought he was falling into "Gene Hackman" roles, he'd throw a curveball (i.e. SUPERMAN, HOOSIERS, ENEMY OF THE STATE, GET SHORTY, THE ROYAN TENENBAUMS). The man's a national treasure.

Steve Mercier

Fantastic movie, great ending. I remember my parents rented this on VHS back in the day (because I'm old), and I got kicked out of the living room because Sean Young kept taking her clothes off (because I wasn't old). Didn't see it again until years later (I believe on DVD), and loved it. Sean Young without her clothes on was cool and all, but Gene Hackman and Kevin Costner are spectacular in this.

Brett Richey

Great film. I'm looking forward to The Full Monty. 👀

Rick Rodriguez
>>165379161

Out of Time really surprised me. I remember it didn't get a lot of attention on release and I watched on showtime (actual airing) and thought it was fun and old school, in a good way.

Rick Rodriguez

Everyone is talking about the twist and after watching, not one character did the twist... 😃 😬 🫤 I'll see myself out.

Candidate for PIB's first re-watch (for both of them)?

How creepy is Will Patton in this movie? Great actor (and I love him in Gone In 60 Seconds), but just the look in his eye here made me want to slap him.

Ian A

Looking forward to this. I have actually never heard of this before. Thanks Cassie and Blue Canary.

I was surprised there was no discussion of Costner v Cruise as a runner.

>>165395831

Thirteen Days, I'd say its the top of that list, dealing with the closest we've ever been to nuclear annihilation. IDK why more people don't watch that movie.

Keith Brown

Director Roger Donaldson worked with Costner again in 2000 on "Thirteen Days" which you've seen . He also directed Tom Cruise in "Cocktail" which I don't know if you and Carly have seen yet .

Stick Figure Studios
>>165379161

I never really cared for ENEMY OF THE STATE (I liked the premise, but the filmmaking itself rubbed me the wrong way). 3 DAYS OF THE CONDOR, however, is one of the all-time great political thrillers.

Clay F

Been at least 30 years since I've seen this -- I remember liking it. I liked it this watch. Wild movie. I like the movie with or without the twist in the end. Thanks for the reaction. An excellent inspirational sports movie (rated PG, not PG-13, not R) starring KEVIN COSTNER (in lead role) and based on true story is: "McFarland, USA" (2015) A movie I like starring GENE HACKMAN (w/Willem Dafoe and a young/pretty Frances McDormand) that is a crime thriller (not a true story) is: “Mississippi Burning” (1988)

Rick Rodriguez

Thrillers is such a broad genre, maybe best to have separate polls for political thrillers, action thrillers, etc.

Thomas Thompson

Hahahahaaaaaaa! That might be my favorite reaction of all time. If you love Jean Hackman, there’s no excuse for not seeing the French connection and if you love, romance and political thrillers again, I’ve gotta push the year of living dangerously.

Mark White

Cassie, since we are on the subject of thrillers, I will just give another mention for “The Insider” with Pacino and Crowe. Really good true story.

I would say that Tom was a good guy. He was on a mission serving his country but still had a definite moral code. It would have been to his advantage to let the assassins kill Nina - that way she could never change her mind and reveal that Tom knew Susan. But he risks his cover story and his life to save her. I think he genuinely fell in love with Susan - there were too many scenes where he's by himself and demonstrating obvious grief. And I think at the end, his cover story as "Tom Farrell" is over - Brice is going down (because the CIA now knows a gift Brice received is among the articles of evidence in Susan's town house) but the Polaroid finally reveals Tom's face. So Tom is probably just going to try and disappear. But his Soviet boss seems confident that eventually he'll come back because it looks like Tom has no other options. At this point in '80s cinema there was a healthy strain of cynicism about American ideals and the pointlessness of the Cold War. The Iran-Contra affair came very close to getting Ronald Reagan impeached, and there was substantial reportage about disgraceful and highly illegal American covert operations abroad. When Tom asks if the two "Special Forces associates" had been involved with Central American death squads, that's right out of the newspapers - the American military had trained (and continues to train) foreign soldiers from across Latin America in torture techniques so they could go home and "fight communism." Despite the 1980s' reputation for rah-rah-rah John Rambo patriotism, lots of these movies had plots revolving around rogue spies and illegal military operations.

Rick Williams

Great twisty thriller. It was great to see it again. Great reaction Cassie and Carly. The 80's movies are fun. More 80's movies.

I'm delighted that the two ladies watched this one! Having seen the film new and several times since, I had the benefit of knowing what was coming so my wife and I could focus on the ladies' great and expected reactions. This was Awesome! Great Film! I think, Cassie, you may have a genre of film that wants to compete with RomComs for the Top Spot. ;-) I posted a list of Suspense Thrillers in the late 80s to 90s, a while back, and No Way Out was at the top (because the list was in order of release, but anyhoo)… and now, here’s an Ultimate List… Rebecca (1940) The Maltese Falcon (1941) Suspicion (1941) Shadow of a Doubt (1943) Double Indemnity (1944) Gaslight (1944) Laura (1944) Ministry of Fear (1944) The Woman in the Window (1944) Leave Her to Heaven (1945) Notorious (1946) The Stranger (1946) The Big Clock (1948) Where the Sidewalk Ends (1950) Strangers on a Train (1951) Dial M for Murder (1954) Bad Day at Black Rock (1955) The Night of the Hunter (1955) To Catch a Thief (1955) The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) Witness for the Prosecution (1957) The Manchurian Candidate (1962) Cape Fear (1962) Charade (1963) The Prize (1963) Seven Days in May (1964) Bunny Lake is Missing (1965) Arabesque (1966) Blow-Up (1966) Harper (1966) The Night of the Generals (1967) Wait Until Dark (1967) Marlowe (1969) The Andromeda Strain (1971) Klute (1971) Sleuth (1972) The Day of the Jackal (1973) The Last of Sheila (1973) The Long Goodbye (1973) The Conversation (1974) Chinatown (1974) Murder on the Orient Express (1974) The Parallax View (1974) Night Moves (1975) Three Days of the Condor (1975) Marathon Man (1976) Capricorn One (1977) The Boys From Brazil (1978) Coma (1978) The China Syndrome (1979) Dressed to Kill (1980) Blow Out (1981) Nighthawks (1981) Deathtrap (1982) Gorky Park (1983) Silkwood (1983) Jagged Edge (1985) To Live and Die in L.A. By the way… Y’all think Kevin Costner should always be in a uniform, huh? Well there is one Kevin Costner uniform that y’all have yet to see. That would be the uniform of a United States Postal Worker. That’s right. Wait ‘til you see it. It just may be his best look. Ignore the naysayers, and watch… The Postman (1997)

Keith Jones

I watched this in college with my friends Jen and Brian, at the end Brian stood up and yelled at the projectionist to put on the rest of the movie, he then sat in the back of the car going back to the dorms just saying "Nope...no...not...nope" over and over. what a great thriller!

Baroness Jennifer

No Way Out is a remake of the 1948 Ray Miland movie “The Big Clock.” They updated the story by making it a Cold War,spy thriller.

This was a great watch first time for me too and I knew nothing about it. This is wild is defintely Carly's new catchphrase recently lol

Walter

Not to be random, but does anyone here remember the film D.O.A. - the remake in 1988 starring Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan? I remember really loving that movie, you know, 37 years ago…

Mark T

If it hasn't already been mentioned, the CIA Director, Marshall, was played by Fred Thompson, who was an actual U.S. Senator from Tennessee. He appeared in many films like: Die Hard 2 In the Line of Fire The Hunt for Red October Cape Fear Days of Thunder and many more. He also played the District Attorney on Law & Order for about 5 seasons. In addition to being a U.S. Senator he also ran for President in the 2008 U.S. Presidential election.

Michael West

Another great reaction. This is one of my favorite movies. So many twists and turns and so suspenseful. I so want to discuss the ending. Add my vote for Absolute Power (Clint Eastwood and Gene Hackman). It's somewhat like this movie. Thanks so much for this channel. Keep up the great content.

Clarence Newman

We're getting a real good variety of movies at the moment, plus a slight abundance of Carly, which is no bad thing. If The Full Monty slides onto the schedule, I will be fully joy.

Eddie Perkins

I have been waiting for this movie; I love films that keep you thinking and on the edge of your seat. And I'm a sucker for a surprise twist ending. "So, he's not a good guy?" I guess that depends on your definition of a good guy.

Doug Fisher

The thing about the 80's is we weren't so hung up on things, in fact a movie that did not have half naked people in it were the rarity. ;-) The reason they picked Yuri to pin the murder on was because they thought he was just a myth and it would make the job easier; so it was just unfortunate irony that it was actually Yuri who was the other man. I believe Tom was supposed to seduce Susan to be able to get access/information/disinformation from the Secretary of Defense. Though, I agree with you girls and I also think he fell for her and it was the reason why he provoked Brice by standing outside her apartment in the shadows. He wanted them to fight and break up. Either way it was a great twist in the end.

Stephen Wadsworth
>>165431983

Yep. And, as it happens (as you probably know) No Way Out was a remake of sorts of a movie from the same era as the original D.OA, The Big Clock. Both 80s versions better than the originals which (for me, anyway) is rare.

Indeed. I love film noir of the 40s,and though The Big Clock isn't bad, No Way Out is a huge improvement, for me.

To Catch a Thief (1955) and Chinaown (1974) are on my watchlist. I liked Silkwood, The Name of the Rose, and The Long Kiss Goodnight. Cassie would get the Redford/Pitt duo with Spy Game. U.S. Marhsals was a let down to me after The Fugitive. "A rote albeit well-cast action thriller, U.S. Marshals suffers badly in comparison to the beloved blockbuster that preceded it."

Walter
>>165431983

Fred Thompson was also chief counsel to Howard Baker during the Watergate hearings and is credited with suggesting that Baker ask the question “What did the President know and when did he know it?” His girlfriend of several years, country singer Lorrie Morgan, used to send her roadies to Prince’s Hot Chicken Shack to pick up HUGE orders for her entire entourage. I know because I had the misfortune of putting in my order right after hers one time. Had to wait three hours. She was a devotee of Nashville hot chicken and eventually opened her own chicken shack.

Tom/Yuri intends to continue working as a Russian spy in the pentagon, maybe even in the CIA; the handoff in the Philippines was a way to pass intelligence materials he'd collected without arousing suspicions from anyone who might be watching—the Russians were probably upset because it was potentially reckless

Milton William Burray
>>165434236

Absolute Power is a solid 3/5 What's good about thrillers is although they are often preposterous when you you sit and think about them afterwards, and the third act often falls down as the writer tries to bring the story to a conclusion, they are still very enjoyable when playing

Ha Ha! That was great. I've seen this film before but a long time ago so I had completely forgotten the twist at the end. I was just as surprised as the sisters! My memory was that Gene Hackman was going to have some kind of breakdown and that would be the end of the movie. That was a wild fun reaction! There's no reason to think that Yuri was some kind of bad guy. He was just doing his job for his country after all. 🤷‍♂️ And it looks like he will have the ending Carly mentioned in the outro, maybe just going his way. We need to have some kind of sequel, I would be interested in the Further Adventures of Yuri.

This channel has been teaching me that there are a whole lot of movies I have never heard of. lol

Is Tubi a subscription site? Keep hearing it brought up. Or is it one of those where everything on it is about to get struck down by copyright?

Free to anyone movies and TV site. You do get the occasional commercial, so you do have to be quick on the trigger finger to pause the ladies' video until the commercial is over but it works. They often have some interesting films. There is a lot of junk but there is some good stuff if you know your movies.

Stephen Wadsworth

I've always loved this movie (I re-watch it most summers - always feels like a summertime movie to me). One of the really fun things of the channel, for me, is literally seeing others discover movies I saw some time ago, and noticing which twists or connections they see coming that I did or didn't when I first saw it. A highlight for me in this reaction was Cassie inadvertently speaking the name of the movie part-way through to describe where we were at in the plot!

The fracas should disqualify Monty from ever being seen.

Mark, Cocktail is more than a romance movie. It has a lot of drama in it.

Mississippi Burning is an Alan Parker movie. In addition to it, I liked many of his movies : Bugsy Malone, Midnight Express, Fame, Angel Heart. He also wrote Melody (1971), a childhood love of mine.

Need reactions to both the original and the DeNiro remake. The DeNiro remake got some pushback initially but has come to be better appreciated for the great movie it is.

Quick and the Dead is one of the best post-1970 westerns. Russell Crowe and Leo DiCaprio are both very good, Sharon Stone was never better (Casino maybe), but Gene Hackman just eats up the screen. I'm not sure anyone has ever out-acted him.

Dean Holt

First time watching and I don’t see me watching it again, I struggle to get into it for the first half. I then thought it picked up for the last 30 to 45 minutes and then the ending was terrible. But I personally don’t think Kevin Costner is a good actor, I just find him a bit dull and he always plays everything the same way. Also I just don’t think the 80s made great thrillers, the 90s was so much better imo. For me the 80s really was great for Action, Comedy, Horror and especially Sci-Fi.

Stephen Wadsworth

Oh, just remembered a Canada connection in this movie - Paul Anka, writer and singer of the two songs in the movie.

Ben Livingstone

So, I started this without realizing it was based on "The Big Clock", the movie version of which I've seen. A very interesting adaptation!

Mitch M

Another very underrated 80s thriller that hardly anybody reacts to but should is Thunderheart with Val Kilmer and Graham Greene. Really intense film, and I think Carly would enjoy it a lot as well. It's more satisfying than this one, imo, and just as suspenseful.

Add Thunderheart--both Cassie and Carly would enjoy a very young Val Kilmer thriller.

Craig Carriere

I did the same thing when I was like 8/9, my adult front teeth had come in and I fell on the gym floor and a fat kid fell on my head, smashing my face into the gym floor. It snapped like 75% of my front teeth off and they had to be rebuilt. Fun fact, like 5 years later, needed root canals…

I don't mind costner as an actor but I 100% agree with the rest of this statement.

Chris Thom
>>165534153

Ouch that sounds painful. Sorry but I just saw a vid the other day where a huge fat guy tripped and fell on a skinny guy and it was kind of hilarious.

Chris Thom
>>165521977

He kind of does. I thought Mr. Brooks was kind of a cool switch up for him though. I mean he did play it pretty much the same but there was some interesting twists of his usual in there when his character was really questioning what his example was doing to his daughter.

Both the original and the remake of “Cape Fear” were based on the novel “The Executioners” by John D. Macdonald. It’s a very good book but very different from the two movies. This is one of those rare occasions where I think the films may have exceeded the source material. But any reader should give MacDonald a chance. He was one of the best, if not THE best, mystery/thriller writers of the 50s thru the 70s. His best known character was Travis McGee, who lived on a houseboat he won in a poker game and periodically helped people recover lost items of great value (he called himself a “salvage specialist”). In return, he kept half the value of the item(s) recovered. One of the great fictional characters in all of literature.

Joe

Hard to believe this came out in 1987....seems like yesterday in my mind. Gene Hackman is 95 years old, one of the great actors, never seen him give a poor performance in any film. Hope Cassie will react to "The Quick and the Dead", a silly but very entertaining film with Hackman, Crowe, and Stone in the leads.

Jason Scott

This movie FREAKED PEOPLE OUT when it came out. I remember seeing it and having some very conservative folks SCREAMING at the end of the film.

Chris Thom
>>165601976

Yeah someone in the comments here was saying his buddy had a little breakdown outside the theater after seeing it.

Beddoe

I love a twist. Your reaction to the ending did not disappoint.

John A

This was a movie I have always liked, but thought they should not have rushed the ending surprise. The original movie from the novel was called "The Big Clock (1948)" also very good movie

Joe

I watched the full reaction, mostly I watch the YT edits. A very 80s film, pacing kind of dragged for me, could have been tightened up some for sure. Costner was running more than Tom Cruise, LOL.

Stephen Wadsworth

I watched The Big Clock some years after seeing No Way Out, and being a huge fan of No Way Out and also '40s film noir, I thought I'd absolutely love The Big Clock, but to be honest I was slightly disappointed with it. Perhaps I built my expectations up too high. Not a bad movie at all though.

John A
>>165641498

If you are a huge fan of No Way Out. I can understand being slightly disappointed with The Big Clock. It has been a long time since I seen it, I will have to go back and watch again, since just rewatched No Way Out.

Joe

Was Sean Young chosen for this role because she was willing to do the topless scene? Many top actresses of the time wouldn't do any nudity. She did get a reputation as a "problem" actor, and her sexual harassment allegations against some industry heavyweights put her on the outs in Hollywood.

Joe
>>165641498

How did they rush the big reveal...it came right at the very end of the movie.

Clay F
>>165680188

I only watch full reactions. I never watch YT edits. I will open her YT reaction on YT to click like.

Joe
>>165680188

I've watched some full reactions of course...but her edits are so excellent, and all the best bits from the full are included.

Clay F
>>165680188

Her edited reactions are excellent (kudos to the editor). The only complaint I've had about an edit is the deletion of the second "The horror" in the iconic "The horror The horror" in Apocalypse Now. What I like about full reactions not captured by YT edits are nuances, and feel/rhythm of the reaction.

John A
>>165641498

I just felt the end reveal needs a few more mins to breathe, that is just my option, Still love the movie.

REDR58

Another good Gene Hackman movie is “Narrow Margin” from 1990.

Bert Towle

Gene Hackman and his wife and dog were found dead on 2/26/25. Foul play isn't suspected. Some films for PIB to consider as a tribute - The French Connection (his first Academy Award), The Conversation (with some very young future stars), Bonnie and Clyde, The Royal Tenenbaums, and The Birdcage.

Paul Ark

Another great, unappreciated gem with both Kevin Coster and Gene Hackman (and a pretty stacked cast overall) is "Wyatt Earp". I am likely in a very small small minority, but I liked Costner's "Wyatt Earp" more than Kurt Russell's "Tombstone"

Joel Wayne
>>165400743

Which version of Cape Fear? I'd love to see a reaction to the Nick Nolte/Robert De Niro one for sure. It might be interesting to see her react to both versions like she did for the Magnificent Seven

So funny....I just commented about D.O.A. a few comments earlier and then got to this one...lol

SmooothE 🇺🇸🇺🇸

that was awesome. I think this and The Firm are favorite reactions with your sister. Oh yeah Jaws was awesome with the dual scare when the head came out the boat of you and your sister

Kit Taylor

Great job you guys. Highly underrated and under-reacted to movie... this is a classic. I don't know if you read anything about it's history. 10/10 from Ebert, NYT, loads of other reviewers in its day... I watched it with my parents when I was a teenager and it became one of my favorites. When I first saw it the Yuri thing at the end felt like a cheesy add-on but after a few more viewings it feels perfectly bookended. Re-watch the intro and then the end and it starts to make sense. Keep up the good work! The chemistry between Kevin Costner and Sean Young was incredible. Phenomenal acting all around. This is the kind of movie that we now only get as streaming series'. Even more amazing is when you think that the entire thing was basically set in a single location yet they manage to keep you on the edge of your seat. As a movie nerd I can't tell you how much I appreciate you reacting to this one. Just some others that are in my all time list... Side Effects, Margin Call, Side Effects, Gone Girl, Gone Baby Gone, The Accountant, Man On Fire, Law Abiding Citizen, Interstellar, Django Unchained, all three Batmans...
