Alex Villarreal

Am just curious what a monster poll would be, ‘cause that’s a heck of a poll title.

Lamar Smith

Does this allow for a ‘Friday Night Lights’ nomination? I’m freaking ‘Sherriff Buford T Justice,’ “I’m NOT giving up!”

Erik Locquiao

I vote for a martial arts movie poll!

LukeG84

Cassie, would the Scream franchise be included in the return to a series poll if it won? 🤞🏻

Rosario Cicero

I accidentally chose finishing a series on purpose

Ted Whalen

I was wondering the same thing.

Mark White

Oh my goodness, this is going to be a riot in the comments, I’m already guessing at least 300- 400 comments on this one! Thanks for this Cassie, it sure is going to be interesting to see what will win!

Chris Retzlaff

Spielberg poll would be to hard....that would have to be multiple polls taking the top of each and then polling that one.. then poll the runner up....and react to the other movies that lost too....🤣🤣

Celeste McAllister🍓

A poll for 1954 it was a banner year for vintage classics and top 100's🖖

Matthew Brown

What Spielberg film has she not seen thats worth watching??

Karson

If you haven’t seen water world. It’s like the world of mad max. But on the ocean.

Mark Deadman

I have a list of classics I'd love to see you watch, ranging from the ultimate feeling good movie to some truly great detective stories.

LukeG84

Joe Versus the Volcano shouldn’t have to win a poll. You should just watch it Cassie. You’ll love it to bits.

Doc Larry/old geezer

Good choices. Classic movies are fun to watch. I’m just curious how they perform on YouTube how many views do you get?

Jake McNulty

I think it means films related in 1975, as in 50 years ago.

Steven Fordham

A Mel Brooks movies poll. Don't you want to see more comedies?

Timothy Fisher

Will we be getting the YT edit of “Charlie Wilson’s War” anytime soon?

Mark White

Chris for me, instead of Spielberg poll, it should be “Just watch “Duel 1971”” 😆

Nick Hewett

I think it means movies that turn 50 in 2025. So 1975 movies.

Maria Soberanis

I voted summery fun. Cassie should get some gooey fun movies

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

I'd love a Michael Madsen poll in tribute to him, just as we did with Val Kilmer. (It's OK if it doesn't happen, Cassie, it's your channel)

Eric C.

HANNIBAL!!!

Jens Kristensen

Classics Poll for me... - maybe Film Noir or just Burt Lancaster. The Sci Fi Decades sounds fun too...

Stick Figure Studios

Some great options here. Honestly, I'd be fine with any of these winning, but since I've been pushing for a Spielberg poll for a long time, it's got my vote. The man is not only one of the greatest and most important filmmakers in the history of the motion picture medium, but he is my personal favorite director and the one that I credit for not only first instigating my love of cinema with films like E.T. and RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK In my childhood, but also for opening my eyes to the power and potential of film as an art form in my adolescence with SCHINDLER'S LIST and SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. Virtually every movie of his that you've watched so far you have either enjoyed or found very impactful and moving... and there are still a lot more titles in his filmography worth seeing: DUEL, THE SUGARLAND EXPRESS, THE COLOR PURPLE, EMPIRE OF THE SUN, AMISTAD, BRIDGE OF SPIES, THE FABELMANS... and while it may be one of his lesser efforts, I think you would love ALWAYS.

Adam Doyle

For "summery" movies, Summer School (Dan Harmon and Kirstie Alley), Summer Catch (Jessica Biel and Freddie Prinze Jr), The Beach (Leonardo DiCaprio), Ernest Goes to Camp

james sweeney

I picked Paul Newman just for Cool Hand Luke.

Dolores Bellini

Would love for you to do some classics. A few to think about: Rebecca, Laura, Imitation of Life, the Ghost and Mrs. Muir, so many great old movies.

bgb1975 (Brian)

Hmmm......"classics" is kind of a vague term! But I'm going with it anyway!

Stick Figure Studios

Duel The Sugarland Express The Color Purple Empire of the Sun Amistad Bridge of Spies The Fabelmans

Shawn Kildal

What's 50 in 2025 poll? Movies that are 50 years old?

bgb1975 (Brian)

I'd love to see her reaction to "Angels With Dirty Faces" (1938). Is that one on your list, Mark? Also the original "A Tale of Two Cities" (1935) with Ronald Coleman. I love that story.

Matthew Brown

Ok there's bridge of spies definitely i still need to see amistad

Jake McNulty

The Sugarland Express (1974) The Color Purple (1985) Empire of the Sun (1987) Amistad (1997) A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) The Adventures of Tintin (2011) Bridge of Spies (2015) The Fabelmans (2022)

Alex M

If Paul Newman wins the poll you should check out Hud (1963), Cassie. Newman plays an antihero in this and he said that it was the first time as an actor that he fully realized that women were attracted to him. It also brought him his second Oscar nomination.

Art Vandalaay

We’re getting Enter the Dragon. As great as that is, it’s also quite brutal in places. Be interesting to see if Bruce Lee opens or closes the door to Martial Arts movies. I mean, if Cassie was an 11yr old boy from the 80’s, it’d be a no brainer 😂

bgb1975 (Brian)

Yes - I had to pause to think about it but I'm pretty sure that's what it means.

Roy Speed

After watching the sheer pleasure that surged through you during Shakespeare in Love, Cassie, I'd like to see you watch more movies that are right up your alley but that you've never seen. Examples: Room With a View, Enchanted April, A Little Chaos, Places in the Heart — all wonderful movies. (I could come up with many more; just ask.)

Starpartyguy

There’s a little known movie called Captain Newman MD with Gregory Peck and Tony Curtis, a comedy/drama about WWII soldiers who suffered from ptsd and showed how it was treated back then. Bobby Darin was incredible. Also featured Eddie Albert and Robert Duvall.

Matthew Brown

No no no AI and YESSS The adventures of tintin

Joe J

No need to include PR random polls is a Pollception, IMO PR random polls should be done every month in addition to a Pollception. We can have both, right?

Clay F

My top 3 = Bridge of Spies, Empire of the Sun, Amistad. Others include The Sugarland Express (1974), The Color Purple (1985), Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983).

bgb1975 (Brian)

I think "Hombre" is one of his best. Also "The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean" is a great one.

Aaron Mann

The Ghost and Mrs. Muir just won this month's patreon member draw, so Cassie will be watching it soon.

Jake McNulty

Or Cassie could skip the poll altogether and just watch "Reservoir Dogs" which would've won anyway, and hopefully follow that up with "Donnie Brasco".

Ted Whalen

I was just looking at a list of some of the top movies from 1975. I think the movie Strip Nude for Your Killer is right in Cassie’s wheelhouse.

Joe J

What does "Monster" poll mean Cassie?

Wesley White

I don't mean to sound like I'm no help at all, sorry, but this is a tough poll to vote on lol😂 I can think of many great movies for you to react to that fit in each category of this poll, but it's hard to choose even though you have it as multiple votes! Though if I had to choose one to win, I choose the "What World should I return to" poll! There is a lot of franchises you haven't finished yet Cassie, most especially for my sake, the PREDATOR franchise! For the upcoming "PREDATOR - Bad Lands" movie this year, I'd say it's high time to jump back into that universe! Don't even get me started about how some people say that the sequels suck, because THEY DON'T lol! They're still fun and entertaining flicks, and I love the franchise as a whole, sure the first one will always and forever remain the best one, but I still love watching the others and I think you will like them too! Besides, I want to see you get all grossed out and scared whenever the PREDATOR does what he does best, hunt lol😂 Like how you were with the first film LOL🤣🤣🤣 Anyway, that's just me! Really quick I also want to inform you that Disneyland's 70th Anniversary is coming up next week, you and the family should consider going to that special event, just a suggestion that's all🙌 Love and support Cassie, you (and Carly) are the best, my heart goes out to you and your extended family after what happened in Texas (sorry for bringing that up), and God bless y'all and family🥰😇🙏🤗😁😉👍✌🌹

Robert da Spruce

Thx Cassie! I don’t think I even know any movies released in 1975! 😄

Clay F

I think a single poll would be fine, but would welcome 2 polls for Spielberg. She has already reacted to several Spielberg movies. My top 3 candidates = Bridge of Spies, Empire of the Sun, Amistad. Others include The Sugarland Express (1974), The Color Purple (1985), Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983).

Clay F

1975

Mark Deadman

Angels With Dirty Faces is a great film but top of my list would be The Big Sleep or The Maltese Falcon. Or from around the same time, The Philadelphia Story. But ultimately I'd love to see Cassie watch Local Hero from 1983. It's just a truly great film.

Jake McNulty

I'd definitely would love to see some Jackie Chan reactions.

Joe J

I would prefer "Pick a Director" poll, we've already had quite a lot of Spielberg on the channel.

Alex M

Another one of his H movies as he called them. The Hustler, Hud, Harper, Hombre. All great.

bknsty14

YES!!! This!!!

MikeLL

I went for Classics all the way. There are not enough old movies here. There is a whole world of cinema from yesteryear for Cassie to explore. She has only dipped a toe in so far.

Aaron Mann

Totally agree. He's a very prolific director and I grew up on many of his movies. In any case, I've been pushing for Amistad for a long time. It's one of Spielberg's more underrated movies and it also hits a lot of Cassie's checkboxes (courtroom drama, true story, historical, etc).

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

I think she would really enjoy Thelma & Louise (1991), that was Madsen's first great film and in turn helped him get the gig on Reservoir Dogs (1992) through meeting Harvey Keitel on T&L (they did have one scene together on T&L but was not included in the final film)

MikeLL

So a vote for Classics, right?

Clay F

Awesome. I voted two: Spielberg poll + PR #1-300 random selection poll. My top 3 candidates for Spielberg poll: -Bridge of Spies -Empire of the Sun -Amistad

Erik Locquiao

Jackie Chan movies, Bruce Lee, Tony Jaa, The Raid franchise, The Night Comes For Us, Van Damme, Jet Li, etc…

MikeLL

If Newman wins, I want The Towering Inferno.

Mark White

Yes, to the SOTL sequels! Red Dragon too!

Aaron Mann

Of the Mel Brooks movies she's seen (Men in Tights, Spaceballs, Blazing Saddles), I wouldn't say she really enjoyed them. I just don't think Mel Brooks humor is her cup of tea.

Uncle Phoenix

Godfather 3,… ugh can’t remember the other series’s where Cassie only watched the first two parts.

Eric C.

Specifically the TV show Hannibal, that is. Mads Mikkelson is phenomenal.

Oisin Clissmann

Great suggestions. I'm particularly keen for Empire of the Sun.

Robert Jewell

I picked Paul Newman so you'll watch hopefully THE VERDICT (1982).his finest performance and Classics so you'll finally see Hitchcock's NOTORIOUS (1946). Wish me kuck!

MikeLL

I'm still waiting on Bringing Up Baby, The Philadelphia Story, and To Catch A Thief. Those have been suggested and suggested to Cassie for years now. I also want Yankee Doodle Dandy. And The Maltese Falcon and The Big Sleep.

SEAN ƴü KAY

What speilberg hasn't she seen already? It must be a shortish list right??... Bridge of Spies Catch me if u can Actually those 2 need to be seen if not already...but... Terminal A.I.? 'The Post' is great too but she seen it right?? Amistad? Is that his?... I cant think of many off the top of my head that speilberg directed that she hasn't seen so I dunno if I will vote for it...

Aaron Mann

Interesting. So only movies from 1975? One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest comes to mind.

MikeLL

Summer Lovers (1982) with Peter Gallagher and Daryl Hannah if summer wins. The ultimate B movie, lol, but I have fond memories.

LukeG84

Doesn’t look like that poll’s going to win, but I’ll take that glimmer of hope and save it for Popcorn In Dread season.

Tim Weaver

Popcorn requests is the upper level people? Sorry relatively new here idk what that means. Can u request a few here? 48hrs- Eddie Murphy Last Boy Scout-Bruce Willis The Guardian - Kevin Costner Murder in the 1st- Kevin Bacon I am Sam- Sean Penn

Richard Maurer

The only one I’m voting for currently is the Monster poll. I might vote on some of the others - based on how well the Monster poll does down the road

Jake McNulty

Just curious Cassie, would "Catch Me if You Can" and "The Terminal" be included on the Spielberg poll? I know they'd be re-watches for you, but I don't think too many patrons would complain about their inclusion.

Edgar Gonzalez

If its Steven Spielberg, then Cassie NEEDS to react to "The Terminal" !!!!!

Darren Harrison

I also voted for the classics poll because there seems to be a lack of movies pre-1980s with a few exceptions

MikeLL

To me, Spielberg seems the most safest choice here. Safe as in not adventurous. I'll leave it at that.

Clay F

She has seen The Post and Catch Me if You Can. My top 3 she hasn't seen: -Bridge of Spies -Empire of the Sun -Amistad Others she hasn't seen: The Fabelmans (2022), West Side Story (2021), The Sugarland Express (1974), The Color Purple (1985), Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983).

Richard Maurer

I won’t vote for the Spielberg poll.

Edgar Gonzalez

Im down with some "The last boy scout" Damon Wayans and Bruce Willis make quite the pair in that movie!

MikeLL

Yes, why not a Burt Lancaster film? Why not James Cagney? Names Cassie hasn't encountered yet.

Tim Weaver

Summer movies- Summer Rental- John Candy We're the Millers- Jennifer Anniston Captain Ron- Kurt Russell

MikeLL

I don't care. I want more Classic films. I want what I want.

Tim Weaver

Manhunter is always forgotten

MikeLL

I would love Angels With Dirty Faces also! James Cagney, Pat O'Brien, Ann Sheridan and Humphrey Bogart! One of my all time faves. The Dead End Kids!

Clarence Newman

She's already seen that one, Edgar. DUEL would be my pick.

Richard Maurer

Halloween in July could be fun. The Scream series, not so much.

Dan M

These options would all make for some great polls. But we’re entering peak summer days, so it only makes sense to watch some great summer films. And there are some really good ones that are a lot fun with feel good vibes: Mystic Pizza Thelma and Louise The Way Way Back Wet Hot American Summer Meatballs Adventureland

MikeLL

Cassie said years ago that To Catch A Thief (1954) with Cary Grant and Grace Kelley was on her PPOTM list. YEARS. AGO,

Clarence Newman

Paul Newman should've been Newman/McQueen, by the way, although I doubt it would be outscoring Spielberg. If Spielberg wins, I'll be voting for Duel.

Just Plain Bob

Voted for the monsters poll but it looks like it’s gonna be Spielberg. I’d like to think that means that “Duel” gets a reaction but I know better. It’s too “old” and too few have seen it.

LukeG84

I vehemently disagree with you on that last part.

Tim Weaver

The other one that I just thought of was The long kiss Goodnight. It's fun + actiony

Shawn Kildal

Three Days of the Condor is 1975. I think?

Stick Figure Studios

I'd be fine with a DUEL reaction, but if EMPIRE OF THE SUN is on the poll, it's got my vote.

Joe J

Already enough Steven on the channel. Did Cassie cook the poll again?

Richard Maurer

Monster movies, I believe. What era, type, etc., are unknown.

Dan M

I do think that a Popcorn Requests poll should be a regular thing that’s done at least once a month. Maybe one month a poll of 1-50 random selection. Then the next month a poll of 51-100 random selection. And the month after that a poll of 101-150 random selection, and so on. Just a suggestion.

bgb1975 (Brian)

Popcorn Requests is kind of a separate site where (I believe) all of her patrons can rank/request their favorite movies. I think there's a link in her "Patreon FAQs/Start Here" post.

Clarence Newman

Newman is one of the greats - Cool Hand Luke, Hud, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, The Hustler, The Verdict, Color of Money, Shadow Makers, Winning, Towering Inferno, Slap Shot, Absence of Malice.....and those are just the ones Cassie hasn't seen.

Clarence Newman

Yes to Godfather 3. Was the other one The Matrix?

Jens Kristensen

Great idea.... I am all for more B/W movies reactions...

Richard Maurer

I see quite a bit of confusion about what exactly the polls are and what the parameters of the polls are. A little more info would be helpful.

Clarence Newman

I could not pick just one Newman film. He made so many great ones.

Bill Maurer

How about a "Classic Monster Poll" ? The original "The Thing from Another Planet".

Joe J

Dracula counts as a monster, lol.

Jake McNulty

If you want to link your Patreon account to it you'd have to ask Planner on Discord. IMO it's definitely worth it.

Richard Maurer

Maybe whoever worked on the poll did, some of the polls are rather vague.

MrKsummer7

This needs an All The Above Poll

Clarence Newman

The best one's at the top of Stick's list.

Popcorn In Bed

yes, any patron can request movies on popcorn requests . com (link on faq post) and then based on the number of people who requests, it ranks them!

Tim Weaver

Suggestions; 3 days of the condor- Robert Redford Night moves- gene Hackman Dog day afternoon - Pacino Rollerball - James Can One flew over the Cuckoo's nest- jack nicholson

Kristin

A top 50 request poll once a month would be nice.

Jerry Cummings

Empire of the Sun, Always or Message in a Bottle will get my vote in every pole.

Tim Weaver

That's awfully techy. I'm just a simple Canadian here lol

Daniel Karlsson

Classics - The Philadelphia Story Cary Grant, James Stewart and Katharine Hepburn. But by putting Spielberg on the poll nothing else stood a chance

Clay F

I voted Spielberg because anything to get Bridge of Spies and/or Empire of the Sun in a poll.

Katie Jackson

I agree with this Dan! It's almost my exact list from Discord😂

Chris Retzlaff

Your a very literal kind of person...aren't you... lol

Clay F

That's a good idea for the next Pollception.

MikeLL

You have points. Hard to compete with Spielberg. Why Cassie hasn't watched The Philadelphia Story, I don't know. With her just watching The Aviator, and Katherine Hepburn being a character that interested her in that movie, maybe now is the time!

Ted Whalen

American Graffiti would be a good option as well.

Joe J

Yes, PR random polls should be a regular monthly poll.....NOT included in a Pollception, argh!!!!

Just Plain Bob

I would LOVE a reaction to “The Thing from Another World.” I’m more of a fan of Carpenter’s take on the novella “Who Goes There?” But the original is an absolute showcase of great 50s horror/sci-fi.

Richard Maurer

Agree, the Spielberg poll seems to be a ringer, if you believe in the ringer conspiracy theory that people have proposed here.

Clarence Newman

I'm going with Newman cos he's a legend, Spielberg (mainly for a shot at DUEL), Classics (because there are still some great ones back there - especially if 'Classic' is pre-1970), Popcorn Requests (because it's a no-brainer) and Sci-fi (mainly to get a shot at The Time Machine, 1960). All in all, these Pollceptions are a great idea, so I'm excited to see what wins. Thanks Cassie!

Alex Villarreal

Honestly, these days I’m still surprised we haven’t gotten a David Lynch movie…where the greatest monster of all is…man.

Just Plain Bob

I don’t believe in conspiracy theories. The ringer conspiracy theory being the exception that proves the rule.

mikethemotormouth

Don't quote me but I think it means movies that are turning 50 yo in 2025

Chris Retzlaff

Depending on what's on the poll, I would vote Duel over Crystal Skull......lol..Empire is a great movie, but Amstad and Always will get my vote first

Richard Maurer

Bill - Yeah, kind vague isn’t it? If it includes movies from the 80’s on only those movies will have a chance anyway. But I’ll take what I can get.

The Star Treker (aka Michael)

You should seriously come back to Star Trek. There's so much more out there than just the original Star Trek series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, or the TOS, TNG, and Kelvin Timeline movies. I'd really love to see you dive into Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Prodigy, Star Trek: Lower Decks, and Star Trek: Picard—they all continue and beautifully wrap up the Star Trek: The Next Generation era. Even if it's just their key 4 episodes like you did before, it'd be amazing. And don't skip Star Trek: Enterprise. It's a prequel set 100 years before Kirk, Spock, and McCoy—about the very first Starfleet crew on the first deep space mission aboard the real first starship Enterprise, before the Federation even existed. It deserves way more love. Also, the first few seasons of Star Trek: Discovery and all of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds take place just a decade before the original series. Then Star Trek: Discovery branches out and explores completely new territory in the Trek universe. There's even more coming: Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, a new spin-off of Star Trek: Discovery, is supposed to premiere early next year. And yeah, there's Star Trek: Section 31—the first streaming movie set between Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country and Star Trek: The Next Generation. A lot of fans hate it, but honestly, I enjoyed it for what it was. Star Trek's grown into something incredible. It'd be awesome to see you explore it again. I honestly really miss your Star Trek reactions—that's what pulled me into your YouTube channel and Patreon in the first place. No lie. Lol.

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Cassie mentioned on the last package opening that she really wants to see Empire of the Sun, I know that because I sent her some Cadbury's Orange Mini Eggs with poll request of five classic movies, Empire of the Sun being one of them!

Chris Retzlaff

Hopefully you get on Discord...its a great community

Clay F

I don't think Monster poll stands a chance, but still early -- we'll see. Currenty in 6th place (3rd to last).

Jake McNulty

I'd settle for Cassie simply watching whatever film is in the No.1 slot each month.

mikethemotormouth

The Sugarland Express (1974) The Color Purple (1985) Empire of the Sun (1987) Amistad (1997) A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) The Adventures of Tintin (2011) Bridge of Spies (2015) The Fabelmans (2022)

Tim Weaver

I don't see that faq section I don't see discord. I've no idea what that is. Do u have a link

Chris Retzlaff

Sugarland Express......so good though....Goldie Hawn is so good in that

Clay F

+1 for Adventureland (I wish got more attention on the channel). +1 for Thelma and Louise.

Clarence Newman

Yep. Thelma & Louise, then Reservoir Dogs, will send Michael off in fine style.

Richard Maurer

Nothing stands a chance against the Spielberg poll unfortunately.

Jake McNulty

Don't forget Road to Perdition.

Clarence Newman

These youngsters need some Buster Keaton in their lives.

Clay F

www.popcornrequests.com But the app designer has to help you I think get going.

bgb1975 (Brian)

"Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein", Bill! Be advised - there are some in this community (like the esteemed gentleman with the spider-emoji in the reply above and the comment below) that might argue that this is not a monster movie, but don't listen to them!

Clarence Newman

But they're literally having a DUEL, Chris! It's a pretty literal kind of a film and I literally want it big time.

Richard Maurer

I tried to watch the Shakespeare in Love reaction. I lasted 6 minutes, 13 seconds from the start of the video.

Clarence Newman

"The Fly in July" has a better ring to it.

Jay Jay Reyes

Watch Jaws again sometime in July. 50th anniversary!!!!!!!!

Steve Hutchinson

Classics only ... but only so I can selfishly get Cassie to one day watch The Thin Man which I know will open the door to the other dozen William Powell & Myrna Loy movies. They were Hollywood's greatest on-screen couple. And, of course, their dog Asta played by Skippy

Tim Weaver

How do I link to Patreon?

Richard Maurer

Luke - I vehemently disagree with Scream in general, watching reactions to it in particular. :-)

Clarence Newman

Confusion is good, Richard. Folks might accidentally vote for what I want.

Richard Maurer

Godzilla is the greatest monster of them all. ;-)

Clay F

Classics only poll is currently a respectable 4th place.

Richard Maurer

No thanks to more Spielberg. And Duel would never win that poll, Clarence.

Clarence Newman

She should pick me as the Director. I could then direct her to some righteous bangers.

Clay F

+1 for The Philadelphia Story

Omar

1-300, re-concentrating efforts on getting Training Day on for the love of all that is holy 😂

Clay F

Yeah, doubtful that Duel would win.

Clarence Newman

Here here, there there and everywhere everywhere! Stop polling stuff you should be doing anyway, Cassandra! You know how Joe can get.

Clay F

+1 for 48 Hrs.

Richard Maurer

I’m confused as to what you want Clarence.

Terry Yelmene

Since it's the middle of summer... why not the summer poll?

Stick Figure Studios

@Chris: She's already seen CRYSTAL SKULL, but she still needs to do a reaction to DIAL OF DESTINY. It just won't be on the pole because Spielberg didn't direct it.

Clay F

Currently in next to last place.

Matthew Brown

If you want Cassie you can watch jurassic park again with carly lol or Indiana jones with carly lol

Chris Retzlaff

Im in agreement...Jaws is my top 3 movies of all time...without Duel...maybe no Jaws.

Ted Whalen

The Philadelphia Story is such a good movie!

James

A poll poll. At least it is a heck of a lot better than being poled! That hurts!

Cole Jennett

She has seen the new Westside Story

Joe J

What does ST have to do with this Pollception?

Clay F

Pumped that Spielberg is in the lead because I've been wanting her to react to Bridge of Spies (2015) and Empire of the Sun (1987). Popcorn Requests #1-300 random selection poll in 2nd place is good too.

Xavier Casanova

I voted for the Monster poll (because I love me some scary movies) but I'm suspicious by how vague that is, lol.

Richard Maurer

Because you know I’m right Brian :-) I’d be fine with it being on a horror comedy poll - because I don’t care about horror comedies.

Clarence Newman

Cassie! I know you like your catchy theme titles, so I think you should strongly consider "The Fly in July". As it's summer time, you could leave the window open while watching it to get the full 3-D effects (bzzz-bzz). You're thinking about it, aren't you?

Uncle Phoenix

I think it was the 2018 “The Predator” with Thomas Jane and Olivia Munn.

Stick Figure Studios

I hope EMPIRE OF THE SUN is on there and wins. It's one of his most underrated efforts. The "Cadillac of the Skies" sequence is one of my favorite scenes from any movie ever.

mikethemotormouth

If and when Spielberg takes it, my vote goes to either The Color Purple(1985), Amistad(1997), or The Adventures of Tintin(2011)

John Liebling

Love to see a Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein poll. Duo created the best musicals. Gregory Peck poll would also be great.

Stick Figure Studios

DUEL would be great, but I'm hoping for a EMPIRE OF THE SUN reaction.

Joe J

This Pollception is definitely cooked! Sadly a bit of a joke.

Uncle Phoenix

I heard they are making another “Prey” movie. Do you guys think that Cassie would like the Danny Glover Predator or the 2018 The Predator with Thomas Jane and Olivia Munn?

Clarence Newman

There's a Sci-fi poll on it, Joe. Try to keep up.

Richard Maurer

Anything to clear out some of the deadwood in the top 50.

YodatheHobbit

There's a lot of good semi older Spielberg still left for you to explore(I'd enjoy you seeing young Christian Bale), so I voted for that as well universe to return to, STAR WARS..... with ANDOR!

Stick Figure Studios

I'd love a VERDICT reaction. It's my all-time favorite courtroom drama. Also, COOL HAND LUKE and ROAD TO PERDITION would be great.

John Liebling

Certainly, need two important polls Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly polls.

Stick Figure Studios

HUD is great, but I'd sooner seen her reaction to THE VERDICT, COOL HAND LUKE, THE HUSTLER or ROAD TO PERDITION.

Anthony Carlson

Paul Newman, Steven Spielberg, and Popcorn Requests are my choices. If Paul Newman somehow wins, Slap Shot needs to be on there!

YodatheHobbit

I didn't really understand the relevance of those 2 movies to summer, also was slightly confused by the screaming part. Summer horror? lol. I guess if we were being literal Midsummer would qualify, but that movie disturbed me enough after having gone through a family member passing that I have no interest really in watching Cassie see it. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was amazing, thought Florence was amazing, but I don't think she needs to go through that.

The Star Treker (aka Michael)

Did you see this option? "What World should I return to poll-ie-finish or return to a series ie Matrix, Hannibal, Mad Max etc." That's why I brought Star Trek up. Cassie only did two of the series, the original Star Trek series and Star Trek: The Next Generation and I would love for her revisit and explore the rest of the Trek universe.

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, I know, Mike, that Spielberg is a "safe" pick because he's such a populist filmmaker, and if he weren't on the list I'd probably go with the "classics" option, but I have to follow my gut. More Spielberg on the channel is always a good thing. My hope is the one day Cassie will have seen his entire filmography.

John Liebling

What about a select number of Twilight Zone polls? I'm talking about the Rod Sterling classic 60s.

Clarence Newman

It would be a loaded poll. Anthony, that's for sure.

Richard Maurer

The Fly finally getting the watch it deserves? And Cassie finally seeing that it’s not nearly as bad as people have said it is? H-E- double sticks yeah!

Clarence Newman

John, you do know Towering Inferno would win the Fred Astaire poll, right?

Stick Figure Studios

And for the record, I personally happen to really enjoy READY PLAYER ONE.

Clarence Newman

Whaddup, Dave? Please follow me to the Paul Newman booth. I have beer and Playboys there.

Clarence Newman

Example: A 180 pound fly qualifies as a monster.

Mark White

The only problem I have with a Spielberg poll stick, is I’m going to be gutted when Duel loses! There is still some big hitters in the Spielberg locker Cassie hasn’t seen, like the ones you have just mentioned. But they are all great movies.

Richard Maurer

Seriously you people need to start voting for the monster poll. I have a long memory (jk……..or am I?) ;-)? ;-)

Clarence Newman

To be fair to Joseph, I think the "Sci-fi poll" option is for sci-fi movies, not tv series. She's said several times she'll be going back to Star Trek eventually. Probably after Game of Thrones, though.

YodatheHobbit

Would be great for her to finally see it!

Mark Vaderr

"The Pirate Movie", that film is 100% Cassie.

YodatheHobbit

So classic, classic, classic, classic or classic. haha

Clarence Newman

You KNOW what I want! Alas, "Road movies" didn't make the poll. I believe Cassie is scared about what would happen if it won.

LukeG84

Too bad Richard, they already exist. I guess you’ll just have to skip the reactions if Cassie watches them. It’s not the end of the world.

Stick Figure Studios

I feel you, my friend. Maybe Cassie can be convinced to do a theme week where she does three Spielberg films, the top three winners of the poll. I think the DUEL might have a shot then.

Clarence Newman

That's not the attitude I'm looking for.

Joe J

300:1 random selection ain't good odds for Training Day, lol.

Clarence Newman

Recently rewatched The Verdict. Cassie would love it.

Shehab Dawoud

Haven't we done most of Spielberg's great ones? Sure, there are still a couple of good ones left, but they're nowhere near his best of the best. This would've been a great opportunity to get some other directors on here who haven't featured a lot or enough. Scorsese, Kubrick, Sidney Lumet, Michael Mann, Spike Lee, Kurosawa, PTA, David Lynch, just to mention a few.

Clarence Newman

That's a busted series. She hasn't seen the Danny Glover one yet.

Clarence Newman

I keep hearing about Empire of the Sun but I've never seen it. Osmosis may be setting in.

Mannygogou

I voted where it says Joe vs The Volcano... 😊 but also there are a lot of good choices there... Mad Max 🙂 ...and I like the random one, and the classics ... oh and always sci-fi hahaha

The Star Treker (aka Michael)

I'll be so happy when Cassie comes back to Star Trek. I've really missed her Star Trek reactions. Jen Murray—the other reactor I follow—never stopped after Star Trek: The Next Generation. She's been going strong, currently watching Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and finishing up the last season of TNG. And she's been reacting to every single episode, not just the four key ones like Cassie did.

Clarence Newman

Shakespeare wubby-dub is not your cup of tea, Richard? I shall alert the media.

Richard Maurer

I know you like them Luke. But when I think of the literal hundreds (even thousands) of better horror movies out there Cassie could react to, I just feel obligated to say something :-)

Clarence Newman

Agreed. Hud is fantastic, but it might be too slow for Cassie. Cool Hand Luke is the real banger.

Uncle Phoenix

There are some gems in that Busted Series. Prey, 2018 The Predator, and 2004 Alien vs Predator, are my nieces favorites. They are the ones I think Cassie would like.

Omar

So you’re telling me there’s a chance….😂😂

Jim

Paul Newman is a yes for me. The Hustler is a must, along with the sequel, done 25 years later, The Color of Money, his only Academy Award win.

LukeG84

That’s a matter of opinion Richard. Just remember, you’re not the only one who has them.

Mark White

I would be up for Predator 2 Wesley. It’s not a bad sequel.

Clarence Newman

Perfect for a Saturday night double bill.

Richard Maurer

I won’t verbally defenestrate you for the better part of the next hour.

Mark White

“Duel” its awesome!

Dan M

I have to give credit where credit is due, Katie. I took three of those movies from your suggestions over on the Extra Butter chat because they are so good. And you also were the one to suggest a Summer Movie poll. Honestly, now that I think about it, I should have given you credit and props in my initial comment.

Ted Whalen

100% agree about Slap Shot!!!!

Above Average Dave

All in for Mr. BlueEyes! THE VERDICT HOMBRE (grossly underrated and genius because it's based on a great Elmore Leonard book) SLAP SHOT COOL HAND LUKE THE LONG HOT SUMMER NOBODY'S FOOL THE DROWNING POOL THE TOWERING INFERNO CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF Several others!

Matthew Brown

Duel was the first film of Steven Spielberg

Joe J

If she wants to watch "Empire of the Sun", why not her choice for a PPOTM? Just watch the dang movie, lol.

Mannygogou

oh I would not have guessed that... I didn't' know what it was so I assumed there is a list (yes there is) and that it would be a poll of 50 movies from the 2025 list hahaha... That's one per week of the year (52 weeks) lol... But okay, 50 in 2025

Richard Maurer

Well, since it didn’t specify classics, it’s almost 100% guaranteed the winner would from the 1980’s to present day.

Mannygogou

many reactors on YT who watch classics end up liking them.

Richard Maurer

Is the attitude you’re looking for known as wishful thinking?

Mark White

Shehab, personally for me “Duel” it’s one of his best! Without Duel, you wouldn’t of gotten Jaws! It’s his first proper movie and it’s a top tier suspense movie.

Mannygogou

I accidentally lol'ed

Mark White

What monster movies are you wanting Richard?

Richard Maurer

That’s 6 minutes longer than I’d last with a Cannonball Run reaction.

Shehab Dawoud

That's fine. Save it for some other time so we can get a bit of variety on here.

Clarence Newman

De-what? What kind of Transylvanian street talk is that? You nearly got the better part of our Popcorn Requests trade, so I believe we can do business. Drop a vote on Paul Newman and I'll hit the Monster button.

Richard Maurer

I’m aware other people have opinions that differ from mine, Luke. What I can’t understand is what they enjoy about being wrong ? ;-)

Clarence Newman

Oh, what a poll that would be! Cassie! Come on over here. We've got beer and Playboys.

Clarence Newman

We could stretch it back to 1958 with a bit of cajoling.

Richard Maurer

Mothra is easily killed. All you need is a huge light bulb.

Clarence Newman

We all know Cannonball Run would win a Road movie poll, which is why Cassie has left it off. She hates me, that's what it is.

Mark White

I have a question about the decades Sci-fi poll? So if it won, do we then get just one decade? Do we get to decide which decade? Or… and this would make me vote for it! Do we get a pole for each decade, 50’s 60’s 70’s 80’s 90’s etc So we could end up with another 7-8 poles of sci-fi? I would defiantly be ok with that. All the other poles on this list of poles would presumable just have one pole? But the sci-fi pole would have many poles?! For each decade? Boy, that’s a lot poles!😆

Clarence Newman

With a healthy portion of denial thrown in!

Above Average Dave

And chocolate and Diet Coke® (if you truly want to lure Cassie).

Robert Jewell

I know, Clarence. Indeed she would. Been suggesting it for a while.

Richard Maurer

This pollception is kind of vague, isn’t it?

Clarence Newman

Nope. Even the haters hang on till the Farrah Fawcett scene in the bar.

Jake McNulty

If we get a "Fisher King" reaction out of it then I'm with ya.

Richard Maurer

You still owe me for the Popcorn Requests fiasco, as far as I’m concerned.

Clarence Newman

She's had a brief encounter with Burt, Mike (Field of Dreams) - but never in his prime.

Richard Maurer

Mark - poll parameters are vague but I’ll take whatever monsters I can get.

Nolofinwe

For Paul Newman : " Somebody up there likes Me" it's about the real life Rocky (Graziano) Finnish the Mad Max saga with "Beyond Thunderdome" Screaming Summer pol. "Joe vs the Vocano " C;assics : how about "Gunga Din " kind of the template for Indiana Jones

Above Average Dave

Unfortunately, other than THE VERDICT and SLAPSHOT, these would probably not result in great numbers for the channel.

Adam Doyle

@mikethemotormouth, although I would get a kick out of it, I am not sure Cassie is ready for that one :P

Clarence Newman

Nope, it's simple. If Sci fi wins, we would then get a couple of second-tier Sci-fi polls from different decades (the decades to be determined through vehement haranguing of Cassie in the comments). The winner of each poll would get watched.

Richard Maurer

Clarence - Nothing that old would win in a poll against 80’s + films. And if “that” film lost a poll I might have to rage-quit PiB.

Clarence Newman

In fact, that's total crap. There would be two polls - one pre 1970, one post-1970. There you go. I am now flawless in my logic.

Larry Darrell

Well I’m out of this one. So which Spielberg film is going to win? Any chance of Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) getting on the poll?

Clarence Newman

Are you kidding? Cool Hand Luke and Towering Inferno would be million sellers!

Rod Reavern

I'm wary of the Steven Spielberg poll winning because Cassie has already watched most of his hit films, so we'll be getting perilously close to his misses. YES, I'm referring to "West Side Story" (2021). I HATE live-action musicals! Animated characters singing is fine, but real actors singing and dancing is unbearably cringe-y! That's why I voted for Cassie to finish the Mad Max franchise.

Mark White

Duel!! Pleaseeeeee!!!🙏

Tim Weaver

Im blocked from discord. It's a higher level. I still have no idea how to link Patreon to popcorn requests though. I'll just sit it out. My eyes are glazing over tryna to figure it out lol

Clarence Newman

Have you OD'd on Cannonball Run talk? I'll dial it down.

Richard Maurer

I was more of a Adrienne Barbeau fan - but I’m not sticking around for her either.

Tim Weaver

Where is the faq post?

Larry Darrell

I’ll take it. Or any of his pre-2000s.

Mark White

“Flawless in my logic” Isn’t that what the massive AI computer thing, Vicky, sez in “I Robot”?!! 😆

Jacob King

Voted Monster Poll on the assumption it’s for Monster movies.

Mark White

But yes Clarence, that is a good idea. It would solve that little problem. I think I was just trying to get as many Sci-fi polls as I could!

Clarence Newman

Somebody Up There Likes Me is very good. Also the first time he appeared on screen with McQueen.

Mark Vaderr

Classics, Monsters, Decades Sci-fi, Popcorn's 1-300 & 50 in 2025 got my votes. As much as I love Spielberg's movies, I didn't vote for that category because I wanted to get something different. Of course, that category is in the lead.

Michael McCollough

She wouldnt watch a remake without watching the original first. I think Fury Road was the only exception

Jens Kristensen

That line... "Hey Rookie... you were good..." - too much for my human emotion system.

Richard Maurer

You owe me for carrying you through the comments, you British remora ;-)

Mark White

It’s film making at its most basic and best. It’s like a stripped down movie, raw, simple and to the point. No nonsense, no fancy effects, just great film making.

Richard Maurer

Who knew a Spielberg poll could win this /s

Mannygogou

Cassie has done at least 2 Godzilla movies... (nice) so I suppose under "Monsters" could be "The Host" a film by Bong Joon-ho who also did Parasite... or The Frankenstein movie with Sting ... lol I'm probably misremembering that one...

RF McNight

Newman. Cat On a Hot Tin Roof. Liz Taylor, Burl Ives.

Richard Maurer

None of which have a chance. Or am I being too cynical?

Mark White

Careful Richard, you may get Godzilla 1998!!

Greg In East TN

Add Clint Eastwood to the list. Add war movies to the list. Add comedy to the list. That can equal only one thing - Kelly's Heroes! (hard to believe you haven't seen it yet, or at least I couldn't find it!) Thanks! :)

Mike Lemon

Sorry. I voted for it so it's doomed.

Rod Reavern

"Fury Road" wasn't a remake, it's a sequel. But yes, it was unusual for Cassie to watch a sequel before the previous movies. Regardless, I couldn't stand either version of WSS. The closest thing to a musical number I've enjoyed are the two dream sequences in "The Big Lebowski," and only because there's just dancing to music, none of the actors sing. That's where I draw the line. As for "Fury Road," I'm hoping that Cassie rewatches it. Perhaps bring Carly in for that one, assuming she hasn't seen it before. I believe that Cassie rewatching "Fury Road" with full context of Max's backstory is justified, and the refresher is probably necessary if she watches "Furiosa."

Larry Darrell

This is kinda my thinking too, although I’m pretty sure I enjoy some of his “misses,” such as 1941 (1979) more than many. But she has seen most of his Top films, so we could probably pinpoint a Top 3 just from the recommendations. (Haven’t gone through comments yet.) I’m just curious what era people are leaning towards. Bridge of Spies, The Post, The Fabelmans Or Duel, The Sugarland Express, Empire of the Sun.

TheWebShark

My OCD is begging you to finish watching franchises that you started 😵‍💫

Clarence Newman

No, but it strikes me that you might also leave if it wins the poll and Cassie watches it. It is your number one quest, after all.

Gray

I'd be happy with either Spielberg or Popcorn requests as we might get Empire of the Sun from the Spielberg poll or a randon mix of films like we did the with the last request poll, that's how we got American Psycho watched haha.

Clarence Newman

Sorry, Xavier, we are being rowdy on your post. If we ever get a monster poll, The Fly is my pick!

Mark Vaderr

The thing is, practically all of his biggest and best have already been watched. On the bright side, at least Cassie didn't put up an Arnold Schwarzenegger poll, that would be getting 90% of the votes.

Mark White

I’ve actually seen that!!! 😀 The 1958 fly! I understood that reference! Sorry, I was like steve in the avengers then, and you guys are Stark and Banner! “I understood that reference” 😆

Above Average Dave

Finally - 1941! Proof that hubris hits even the very best (especially when they get to do hubris with other people's money).

Larry Darrell

You’re probably right on point. If I had to bet, either Bridge of Spies or Empire of the Sun will win. I’d very much prefer the latter.

Above Average Dave

If the Spielberger wins, ALWAYS is the most Cassie and Carly film in his remaining offerings. We might as well give her one she'll love.

Above Average Dave

Only because you and I would be watching 900,000 times. Each. 🤣

Richard Maurer

Random mix is fun and unpredictable. That’s probably why we don’t get them more often.

Mark White

Mike, what monster movies would you want a reaction to? Im just curious.

Above Average Dave

You know you want 1941! Madly, deeply and passionately, Stick.

Mark White

You guys are killing me! 😭 Duuuueeeelllll!!! 😭😆 But in all seriousness, if I was betting, I think Empire of the sun will win.

Evil Darth Carl

I still think Generation Kill would make for one of the best reactions on your channel. With Carly it would be even more amazing. It’s that world of “men only” that so baffles and amuses you both. Plus it’s one of the few truly credible, realistic and accurate portrays of modern combat operations. Finally very few (and no major reactors that I can think of) have actually reacted to the series. Here’s a chance to be that trailblazer once more. lol

Richard Maurer

Mark - I’ll take whatever GOOD monster movies I can get.

Evil Darth Carl

Cue the “Cassie will hate it!” ‘Cassie and Carly won’t be able to handle it!” Etc crowd lol.

YodatheHobbit

I'd sure enjoy a The Birdcage reaction. Unless Cassie possibly already saw it before the channel.

John Liebling

Its not a Musical. And its not a Fred Astair centric movie.

Bill Maurer

Been pushing for that movie practically every "Scary, but not too scary October". Will do so again this year.

Mark White

Michael, I’m a massive Trekkie like you, trek is what got me to be a Patreon for PiB for my first and only channel I will ever be a Patreon off. But, I think we are going to have wait a while longer. If Cassie started to watch trek again now, we could get a PiB riot on our hands. As Clarence said it will probably be after GoT.

Chris Thom

Some fantastic Spielbergs' left to see...AI, Bridge of Spies, Duel, The Post, The Fabelmans, War Horse, Catch Me if You Can, Amistad, Color Purple, etc.

Bill Maurer

She surprised everyone and did a reaction to John Carpenter's "The Thing". One of her more infamous reactions

John Liebling

Robin Williams: Centennial Man, Awakenings, and Fisher King will all bring Cassie to tears, for different reasons. Each of those movies show Robin's range. He was always much more than just a clown. Though he was one of the funniest clowns. Awakenings has Robert DiNero, which Cassie would like and Jeff Bridges in Fisher King...Bridges and Di Nero both are great in their specific rolls.

Chris Thom

I finally saw that this year. I think it was the last Spielberg I had left.

Chris Thom

Which monsters are your favorite Richard?

Chris Thom

Twilight Zone was a bit underrated. Four different directors, each piece fairly different from the rest. RIP Vic Morro and children.

Chris Thom

That would be a lot of fun. Second that suggestion.

Chris Thom

A pole poll could be about stripper movies.

Chris Thom

My top would bee AI, Bridge of Spies, and Catch Me if you Can.

Richard Maurer

Clarence - not leaving anytime soon. The very fact that I know certain people don’t want me here keeps me from leaving.

Chris Thom

Strongly second that suggestion. I do love the movie though.

Mark Vaderr

Cassie watched War Horse.

Chris Thom

Fabelmans really grew on me.

Mark White

I think Yoda is saying you are “too old”! Too old to begin the training! Clarence! 😆

Richard Maurer

Bill - Also one of my favorites of her reactions. Like the last name, by the way.

Mark White

What people?! Who?! where?! Just let me at um! Scrappy doo here, will not stand for it!

Mark White

No, unfortunately you are not being too cynical Richard.

Henry Graham

I voted for the 50 in 2025 poll, simply for the opportunity to get my beloved Nashville or Barry Lyndon on the channel, but these numbers certainly underscore how out of step with public opinion I am!

Gro Do

She needs to get to Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. It will be her favorite Max movie

Mark White

Mark, Red Sonya would win that easy! 😆

Joe J

Well, maybe Cassie will just do the PR random poll in addition to the Spielberg poll. Shouldn't we be getting a PR Random poll every month anyway? Kind of a no-brainer, lol.

Clarence Newman

Agreed, it should be Top Hat. But if Towering Inferno's on there, it wouldn't matter.

Mark White

Yep, I like a random mix of popcorn requests. It’s a bit of a lottery, but you can get some really good movies.

Mike Lemon

@Mark- I was thinking Universal or Hammer, but I wouldn't mind something like Clash of the Titans. I would stay away from post-2000 since recency bias would probably come in and ruin everything.

Michael and Phyllis Selby

One of the first movies that Spielberg ever produced but didn’t direct is one of the funniest movies ever made-Used Cars.

Mark White

Chris, I know I have never mentioned this before! but “Duel” is quite good.

Chris Thom

Never heard of that one. Also just saw two on IMDB I hadn't heard of: Savage, and Night Gallery.

Chris Thom

I actually haven't seen Duel yet myself. But I know it gets a lot of love online.

Chris Thom

Did she watch War Horse on the channel?

Mark White

As much as it’s my least favourite, I think you could be right there Gro. It’s just abit more Cassie.

Chris Thom

In a documentary I saw some clips of him playing a Russian immigrant or something? Any idea which movie that was?

Chris Thom

Jaws 2 could be fun.

Richard Maurer

It’s a chance for something good that’s stuck further down the list to get on a poll. What’s not to like?

Mark White

No Greg, Cassie hasn’t seen it and it is a travesty that needs to be put right. But, we must stop with those Negative waves! 😆

Chris Thom

Moonstruck, Prince of Tides, Message in a Bottle, Bridges of Madison County, Love Story, Paper Moon, Love and Other Drugs...

Chris Thom

With Game of Thrones coming, longer series may be off the table for a while.

Mark White

Mike, wow, I never realised anyone else on here was a fan of Clash of the Titans 1981 like me. It’s good to know you are a fan also. It’s my first movie memory. Watched it again and again as a kid in the early eighties. I use to beg my mum to rent it on VHS every weekend.

Chris Thom

Still can't believe she had no desire to finish The Matrix series. Not that Revolutions is the best, but I would still need to finish up the storyline.

Mark White

I beleave so Chris, it was early on in the PiB days.

Larry Darrell

Moscow on the Hudson (1984), written and directed by Paul Mazursky

Mark White

Don’t take this away from me Clarence! You mentioned 1958 fly! It’s actually a old movie I’ve seen! I got very excited I could be apart of the conversation 😆 But, yes 1986 fly Is far better and it’s long over due.

Richard Maurer

I’ve thought about pushing for a Ray Harryhausen poll in the past. Two things have stopped me. No way in hell is it ever happening. And Clash of the Titans would almost certainly win. Don’t get me wrong, I like CotT. But 7th Voyage of Sinbad, or especially, Jason and the Argonauts should win a Harryhausen poll.

Patrick Switzer

Duel is the first movie Steven Spielberg directed in 1971

Clarence Newman

And Cassie….dont be forgetting Every Which Way But Loose. I promise it will be your most enjoyable monkey movie.

Richard Maurer

Don’t worry Mark, I got it covered.

Mark White

Yep, I’m with you on that one Chris. It needs finishing. It’s actually ok, I don’t understand why people have such a downer on it. The way people talk about it, you would think they are comparing it to Jaws the revenge!

Chris Thom

Thank you. Been wanting to see that.

Larry Darrell

I’m probably alone in preferring that Cassie watch the original film, A Guy Named Joe (1943), starring Spencer Tracy, Irene Dunne and Van Johnson, first. Always (1989) is pretty good too. A great remake. A Guy Named Joe was featured in Poltergeist (1982) and is one of Spielberg’s favorite films.

Clay F

Rank #737 at Popcorn Requests. Needs a few more upvotes to make it into the top 300.

Clay F

Yes -- on channel -- her reaction to War Horse is good.

Richard Maurer

Don’t ask me to vote for it Clarence.

Mark White

Patrick, I know I’ve never mentioned this before on the channel, but I quite like Duel!😉😆 Honestly, It’s 50 years since Jaws. Cassie is going to watch Jaws 2. So it’s a no brainer to watch Duel. Spielberg said he couldn’t of done Jaws without Duel. The story similarities are all too clear.

Clay F

I am the opposite. My OCD is I can't stand sequels to the point of being irrational about it. My OCD is non-completionist with franchises.

Just Plain Bob

Clarence, you mostly talk gibberish that no sane individual would ever understand, much less agree with. So it’s refreshing when you say something that’s 100% correct. “Every Which Way But Loose” is the kinda film that makes me proud to be an American. As long as we can turn out movies of this quality, there’s always hope.

Mark White

Cassie! It’s Clint Eastwood in his prime, it’s a comedy and it’s got the most lovable Ape ever! And if you watch the sequel, it will give you what you love most in a movie!

Clay F

I doubt "West Side Story" (2021) would win the poll. My guess is Bridge of Spies, Empire of the Sun, and Amistad would have a greater chance of winning the poll. Others that might be competitive with WSS include The Fabelmans (2022), The Sugarland Express (1974), The Color Purple (1985), Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983).

Clay F

Crossing my fingers for Empire of the Sun.

Clay F

Newman Poll is currently in 6th place. Maybe next time. I wouldn't mind seeing her react to The Hustler or Cool Hand Luke.

My_Cousin_Mose

I voted for popcorn requests. There's a lot of great movies (and bad ones too ) in that mix.

Mark White

Clay, I always will have infinite respect for your movie knowledge and taste and you are a top guy as well. But once again you and me stand on the opposite side of the sequel fence. Have you had a chance to watch Cassie reaction to Lethal Weapon 4? Not that I’m saying Cassie would enjoy Matrix 3 that much! But she does enjoy a sequel.

Clay F

Currently: Monster poll is 7th place. Newman poll is 6th place. Finish or return to a series poll is 5th place thank goodness. Classics only Poll is 4th place.

Win

Finish The Equalizer 2 and 3

shireknight

Return to an already started film series and watch the third Matrix film or Mad Max 3 Beyond Thunderdome or both lol. Oh and don't forget Superman 3 and Airplane 2. I think you should introduce a rule that says if you start a film that's part of a series you should have to finish the series before moving onto the next film.

Stick Figure Studios

One of Spielberg's lesser efforts certainly, but Cassie would love it.

Stick Figure Studios

Technically, he directed the made for TV Columbo movie MURDER BY THE BOOK before it, but DUEL was the first film of his to get any kind of theatrical distribution (in Europe but it still counts).

Stick Figure Studios

Most of his great ones, but not all of them. Personally, I'd be fine if Cassie reacted to his entire filmography. :-)

Stick Figure Studios

As much as I love Spielberg, 1941 is the one film of his that I would call outright "bad."

Stick Figure Studios

Do you know how many movies she actually wants to watch? Enough to occupy a PPOTM for years.

Old As Dirt Bert

I think the Patrons' request list should be at least 1 out of every 4 polls. There's lots of monsters, classics, adventures, rom-coms, celebrities, comedies and the like among that list.

Shehab Dawoud

Well you like him more than I do but in any case, we’ve probably seen 3 times as many as his films compared to other directors. Would’ve been nice to give someone else a chance. Not like there’s nobody to compete with him.

Mike Lemon

Why watch terrible movies?

John Liebling

Not a documentary he was in one of his earlier movies - Moscow on the Hudson. Many of the actors recently escaped the Soviet Union. Now Robin did tour Russia, maybe that's what you saw on youtube???

Robert Baldino

Sounds like Moscow on the Hudson. Kind of a forgettable film.

Old As Dirt Bert

yes, and she loved Grace Kelly from Rear Window!

Carol_White

Oh good, she gets to watch a third-tier Spielberg movie.

Old As Dirt Bert

I agree, Clay, one is all that's needed. However many are on it, there's only one winning film. The rest won't get watched until a future poll.

Old As Dirt Bert

Maybe it's 700 entries on the poll - really big and scary...

Richard Maurer

And probably not even one of the decent ones.

Richard Maurer

Yeah, why do we all have to suffer because some of you are completists? Edit: this wasn’t meant to be insulting. Sorry if anyone took it that way.

Richard Maurer

Clay - why not mention that two polls are way behind the monster poll?

Richard Maurer

Worst Clint Eastwood movie ever? Yes, I believe so. (Sorry guys, I’ve been ignoring this movie every time it’s come up, but I just can’t anymore)

Joe J

Well, these are certainly 1st tier. Bridge of Spies Empire of the Sun Amistad The Color Purple Duel

Richard Maurer

How about we only watch the good sequels as a compromise (that should narrow it down to almost none).

Roy Speed

@ChrisThom: Wow—she's never seen Moonstruck? Maybe she's watched it on her own; it's so her-kind-of-movie. I would add Finding Neverland, Shadowlands, Heaven Can Wait, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, Win a Date With Tad Hamilton...

Richard Maurer

Chris - all of them. All the good ones anyway (No Godzilla ‘98)

Coleton B.

Guys, for the umpteenth time; you don't have to negatively comment every single time someone has an opinion. What benefit was either of these comments to this discussion and how should they make shireknight feel about sharing their valid, welcome and open opinion, other than feeling as though they shouldn't engage again in the future, for fear of the two of you jumping on them?

Richard Maurer

Bert - now I kind want to see a poll with 700 films on it. Except you know there’d be at least one ringer.

Joe J

This kind of banter is really light-weight.

Anthony Carlson

@Mark White When I was in college, we have an option to go to Chicago to visit the Oriental Institute and the Field Museum for a field trip for our Ancient Western Civilization class. On the way back, we would watch Clash of the Titans as extra credits. Easiest extra credit ever lol.

Chris Thom

It was just a montage of different roles he had been. Another clip was from something....Garp. But I was kind of getting it mixed up with something I saw with Billy Crystal as well. He did some shows over there.

Mike Lemon

Coleton, why come on here and post negative comments? Let me edit out that rather long comment before posting it and just ask- Are we no longer allowed to disagree with any opinion at all on this forum? I expect the answer to apply to every single person here and I expect this same level of nanny state on every one of them.

Popcorn In Bed

Ben here. Mike & Richard, if you can't find a nice way to get your point across, then don't respond. They may like the movies in the series and that's fine, it's their opinion. I know you know the rules cause you referenced them yesterday in another comment. So please adhere to rule #1. And Joe, it's not 'light-weight'. For those of you who have been around for a while and understand each other's personalities and sarcasm and comment often... maybe it's considered 'light-weight'. Not everyone is in that boat though. Like I said, if you can't respond with something in a more appropriate way, then please just leave it a lone. Also, if one of the mods tells you this once, that should be it. They shouldn't have to tell you multiple times. I assure you that though they don't have 'mod tools' available here on Patreon, their messages still get through to me. I'd rather not have to chime in again. Thanks. -Ben

Richard Maurer

Coleton - so if we have a different opinion (like that most sequels are bad) we can’t express that opinion? Can we only express positive opinions? Or can we express negative opinions on separate posts? Just looking for some clarification here, because none of this is in the rules. The idea that most sequels are bad is not a controversial one. Many people have expressed it, both here and in film criticism in general.

McShades

You could easily expand that list by including movies Steven Spielberg produced also...

colbyshannon

…believe she has also watched/reacted to Amistad as well. So, strike War Horse and Amistad. … Bridge of Spies is a no-brainer for Cassie. …great film in one—if not two—of her new favorite genres.

colbyshannon

The Verdict would prob. be my first choice. …one of his absolute best performances and one of the best courtroom dramas ever made.

Popcorn In Bed

Ben again.. Richard, you’re overthinking it. You can absolutely share a negative take, but lines like “why do we all have to suffer because some of you are completists?” come off as jabs at the people you’re talking to, not the movies themselves.

Richard Maurer

Ben - I honestly didn’t think my post was a violation of the rules - if I did I wouldn’t have wrote it. I will avoid commenting to people I don’t already know in the future.

Chris Thom

Any idea if The Terminal is on the channel yet? Or if she's seen it?

Mike Lemon

Now do mine? The one where I said some movies are terrible. Is that no longer allowed. Keep in mind the original comment has this, "if you start a film that's part of a series you should have to finish the series", and there are still 6 more Highlander movies to go.

colbyshannon

Get real… It will wreck her. (lol)

colbyshannon

Two Cronenberg pics that would be good, though… History of Violence and Eastern Promises.

Clay F

This Pollception turned out better than I could have ever expected. I am truly hoping that at least one of these 3 will be candidates in the poll: -Bridge of Spies -Empire of the Sun -Amistad I have been posting in Extra Butter Chat over and over pushing Bridge of Spies and Empire of the Sun.

Mark Vaderr

Richard - What do you consider to be "bad" monster movies, aside from Godzilla '98?

Mark Vaderr

I wouldn't say that what's left is all third-tier. Amistad Empire of the Sun AI: Artificial Intelligence Bridge of Spies All good movies. Although I do want something else besides Spielberg. Mix it up a bit. Would love an all classics poll & a monsters poll.

Popcorn In Bed

Ben yet again.... This will be my last response in this thread as I've already made my point clear as day. Richard, only responding to people you already know is not what I'm implying. Mike, disagreement is fine. You can call a movie dull, bad, terrible, pointless, whatever. Honest criticism is welcome but a drive-by line like “why watch terrible movies?” jabs at the person suggesting it, not the film. If you think a movie is terrible, add substance: explain why, suggest alternatives, or move on. It's not hard. Be respectful and keep the focus on the movies, not on each other.

Richard Maurer

I honestly don’t feel comfortable making any comments right now - including this one.

Rod Reavern

I always confuse "Duel" (1971) with "The Duelists" (1977) because the former is Steven Spielberg's first film and the latter is Ridley Scott's first film. And the similar names, obviously, and they were made in the same decade, long before I was born.

Rod Reavern

I wouldn't have included "AI" on the list of Spielberg film recommendations. It's not awful, but I feel like Spielberg was retreading the same ground as "E.T." and even "Hook" so it didn't have anything new to offer. Also, the film was heavily reliant on the appeal of Haley Joel Osment as the little robot boy, and I never got it. I suspect though, that "AI" would resonate strongly with a parent of a preteen son... but that's kinda a niche demographic. 😉

Rod Reavern

"Generation Kill" is one of the best war mini-series after "Band of Brothers." I prefer GK over "The Pacific" and "Masters of the Air." The characters are more memorable, and it was released in 2008, making it one of the earliest TV series or movies about the 2003 Iraq War. If Cassie does watch "Generation Kill," it's probably best timed for Remembrance Day in November.

Chris Thom

It's one of the more unique films I've seen. It's split into three distinct parts. The first has some ET-type themes. Not sure about any Hook similarities. Interesting co-production with Stanley Kubrick before his death. One of my favorites. Hope she watches it someday on the channel.

The Star Treker (aka Michael)

I'm so glad there's another massive Trekkie here besides me. Star Trek will always be #1 in my heart—right alongside Superman. I’m a huge DC fan in general (and I love Marvel too), but Trek and Superman just hit me the most. If you haven't already, you really should check out Jen Murray's Patreon. I absolutely love her reactions—just like I do with Cassie with Popcorn in Bed. They're easily my two favorite movie and TV reactors. It was their Star Trek reactions that pulled me into their YouTube channels and Patreons in the first place. Jen covers a ton of sci-fi, and it's wild how many of the same shows and movies she’s reacted to that Cassie has too. I tried watching Game of Thrones—got through the first three episodes—but honestly, it didn't hold my interest. My parents watched the whole thing and liked it, but it just wasn't for me. That said, I really liked the cast. A lot of those actors have popped up in other shows and movies I'm into. Jason Momoa especially—I knew him first as Ronon Dex from Stargate Atlantis, way before he became Aquaman. Now I'm hyped to see him take on Lobo in James Gunn's new DCU! As for Cassie, I think she'll probably fly through Game of Thrones—most seasons are only 10 episodes, and Seasons 7 and 8 are even shorter. So I'm hoping she'll be back to Trek before long. I'm curious how she'll handle some of the more explicit scenes in the show though… it gets really adult at times. But I guess we'll see—if she hasn't already started it. Lol. And yeah, fantasy and medieval stuff isn't really my thing, unless it's got a unique spin. Depends on the vibe like The Legend of Zelda, Dragon Age or The Elder Scrolls or even Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.

Chris Thom

Do kind of think of Poltergeist and Gremlins as Spielberg movies.

Gábor Árki

Also, she has seen The Terminal, The Post, and Catch Me If You Can before the channel.

Gábor Árki

I would only call 1941 a third-tier Spielberg, the rest remaining have some still good, but often underrated movies. Although I have a feeling that a lot of people voting for the Spielberg poll do not realize how much of the movies has already been reacted to and watched before the channel.

Mark White

Anthony, watching Clash of the Titans as extra credits is awesome! But also, that Class sounds really interesting. I really did do the wrong degree at university! My field trips were usually digging up some mud on a beach in wales! 😆

Anthony Carlson

@Mark White I went to a small college near where I lived. I actually walked from my parents to that college. That field trip was so good I actually went on it every year until I graduated. Even after that, I still took that trip for a few more years! The Oriental Institute is at the University of Chicago. It’s free to go in by the way. It has artifacts from the ancient Middle East empires like Assyria, Babylon, Egypt, etc. Really cool stuff! The Field Museum has an Egyptian exhibit where our professor told us to spend one hour inside. After that, we can explore the rest of the museum on our own. For those who don’t take the class, you don’t have to spend one hour. You can do whatever you want! The details is how much I enjoy that field trip every year. Unfortunately, my professor is semi-retired so the trip isn’t offered anymore. FYI, my degree involved taking classes studying civilizations so maybe I had hopes to become like Indiana Jones lol.

Clarence Newman

I'm sorry, but I have to agree that this doesn't seem right. Even accepting Ben's comment that us regulars are probably used it to it by now, I'm scratching my head as to how THIS thread brought Ben into the conversation. Ben, I respect you to the moon and back and you surely know that. Your contribution to this site and to the wonderful content you and Cassie shower us with is well-known and appreciated by everyone. If you've got a problem, we're going to try and help you with it and that's what I'm trying to do right now. I know Cassie wants this to be "a cosy corner of the internet" - Hell, she even reiterated it while fighting back tears on the PaF draw the other day, as if her reaction to a recent family loss was messing up OUR day (!) - but we've got to have some leeway here. Sometimes we step over the line, and mostly that's due to exuberance and the fun of light-hearted banter. It's so difficult sometimes to inject tongue into cheek through words alone and I fully accept it can be taken the wrong way. That's why a lot of folks here (and Richard does this a lot) put a wink or smiley emoji at the end of a post just to indicate that it's a bit of banter. It's no different than Cassie's "just kidding" when she makes a joke about something. In the year I've been on Patreon, I've seen you come on and post once, maybe twice, and both times were for SERIOUS breach of the rules. I applaud the continued efforts of you, and the mods in particular, to ensure that this place doesn't degenerate into the cesspool that Youtube is, and for that I have no critique. This truly is a place people can feel safe because, if there's any real insult or bullying, the mods usually can't get there fast enough before patrons jump all over the insulter and shut him down. "YOU CANNOT BEHAVE LIKE THAT HERE!" is the firm and direct message and usually that's enough to end it. On the rare occasions it doesn't work, the mods step in. On the even rarer occasions the insulter won't desist, then we get a visit from the Big Dog. Which brings me back to the two comments that started all this. Are they positive? No. Are they "negative"? Sure, technically. But honestly, we seem to be reaching the point where we have to ask the question "How sensitive are we going to be here?" Because in my opinion, there is a VAST difference between shutting down insults or bullying and not allowing someone to express disagreement by using a "negatively slanted" comment. One preserves Cassie's "cosy corner of the internet", the other (in my opinion) promotes over-sensitivity and could eventually turn this comments section into a milquetoast, Eloi-style community where no one dares to contradict anything. If that happens, it would be half as popular, I promise you, because "banter" is the heart and soul of it. I appreciate that you need to set an imaginary line for where banter becomes bullying or negativity, and that's a difficult thing. All I'm saying is that you have to be so careful how high and tight that line is, because if it's too high and too restrictive, you're going to throw the baby out with the bathwater. I apologise for the long rant, my friend - I know you have better things to do and I don't want to take up your time - but this seems important to me so I'm going to complete my point. Below is a good example from a different thread: "Cassie please don't watch Encino Man. The FDA should include a warning that it causes I.Q drops in lab rats and brain damage to monkeys. But then again some people like Howard the Duck......Go Figure" Then, following rebuttals from other patrons, "I Know and it is a cry for HELP. Make Him watch a real movie not Man who stole my car crap" Now, those are clearly negative comments worth a rebuttal. Not by the mods - I only expect those hard-working Jedi's to turn up if it gets too rowdy - but by us patrons. You know who shut that particular negativity down? Richard and Mike. I could give other examples, where people have just dropped one line that trashes a movie OR a person's opinion OR the result of a poll or whatever, but I'm trying to be brief here. (Alas, not a joke.) As you rightly point out, Ben, some of us have been here a long time, and maybe there are times we get a little too comfortable. Once in a while we need a tap on the shoulder and that's fine. It's very important, in fact, if we're going to keep this place the way Cassie (and you) want it to be. And notice I say "if WE'RE going to", because a lot of us love being here and want to keep it the way it's intended to be. You are not alone! My point is that I would support you and Cassie in any endeavour to prevent the slime of Youtube society from contaminating this environment. I would also be supporting you here if I thought the point was a good one. I do.....but I also don't. Shutting down bullying and insulting behaviour is one thing. I'm with you on that, so are most others on here, and I've read enough of Richard and Mike's posts to know that they won't cross that line either. But to get mod (and then Ben!) intervention for "Why watch terrible movies?" and "Yeah, why do we all have to suffer because some of you are completists?"......guys, I'm struggling with that. Especially as Shireknight (original poster), a veteran of FIVE YEARS on this channel and therefore perfectly capable of handling himself, hasn't even had chance to respond. I'm sure he would have, and defused the whole thing himself, but then he woke up and walked into this. I wouldn't've joined in either! Again, I'm sorry for the length of the post, Ben, and I'm sorry if my different opinion causes you a problem. I like to have fun on here, and that's because I love what you and Cassie have created. I just feel we're going too far in this case. It's starting to feel like a personal attack against two people that certainly outweighs what they did on this thread, and for the most part, what they do on the channel. That's all I've got so I hope it helps. I'm happy to talk further offline if that would help too. Take care.

Clarence Newman

Clay, Which Way's position on Popcorn Requests is irrelevant at this time. The reason I'm pushing it is because Cassie has reached the end of her monkey marathon and could do a lot worse for her tender little soul than to watch Clint Eastwood walking around town with Clyde in tow. She will LOVE it, and it will be the perfect way to end her journey. I will ignore Richard's slanderous arrangement of vowels and consonants because Every Which Way But Loose ru-wels!

Clarence Newman

And let the record show - JP Bob is agreeing with me, therefore we must both be right!

Clarence Newman

Jason and the Argonauts is good, but I'd vote for Golden Voyage of Sinbad. In fact, I'd vote for Caroline Munro. In fact, I love her.

Clarence Newman

Ah, but that's precisely why it *wouldn't* wreck her, C. It would make her bounce all over the bed during, sure, but the fact that the premise is not, and could not be "real", would give her precious little soul plausible deniability and thus sustain her very life.

Mike Lemon

" “why watch terrible movies?” jabs at the person suggesting it, not the film." It is explicitly about the movies. But fine- Given that some movies, such as Highlander 2: The Quickening which currently sits at 0% critics score and 23% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, a site which I hate and nobody should rely on, and has reviews such as- "Highlander II: The Quickening is the most hilariously incomprehensible movie I've seen in many a long day—a movie almost awesome in its badness. Wherever science fiction fans gather, in decades and generations to come, this film will be remembered in hushed tones as one of the immortal low points of the genre … If there is a planet somewhere whose civilization is based on the worst movies of all time, Highlander 2: The Quickening deserves a sacred place among their most treasured artifacts." - Roger Ebert (via Wikipedia) -and are completely disregarded in the entire rest of the franchise, are subjectively and objectively terrible, and given that there is extremely limited time to watch movies for this channel, the question must be asked, why watch terrible movies? Is that better? Personally, I find that way more condescending.

Chris Thom

Damn so she doesn't have that many left to go. I would suggest 1941 maybe...but it's pretty passable. I don't remember if Sugarland Express was any good.

Gábor Árki

The ones left (not seen, not reacted yet) seem to be: Duel, The Sugarland Express, 1941, The Color Purple, Empire of the Sun, Always, Amistad, AI Artificial Intelligence, The Adventures of Tintin, Bridge of Spies, The BFG, West Side Story, The Fabelmans.

Chris Thom

Not sure why, but I thought Peter Jackson directed Tintin. Maybe he was going to direct the sequel or something. Or was a producer.

Chris Thom

Trying to remember if one or both were in Singin' in the Rain.

Chris Thom

No fair to make it rhyme. She does love a mnemonic theme.

Clarence Newman

Singin In The Rain is definitely Gene. Best musical ever except Grease. Cassie has already seen some Astaire, because he made a brief appearance in The Green Mile. (He's dancing with Ginger Rogers on the cinema screen in the movie Top Hat - "Heaven....I'm in heaven.....")

Mark White

Richard, I too am a big fan of the Harryhausen movies and would be great to see them on PiB. I remember loving the Sinbad movies as a kid, wasn’t there more than one? My memory is vague! I think Jason and the Argonauts are wildly considered the best of the HH movies. But I have such strong nostalgia for CotT and I’m probably being bias, but I feel Cassie would enjoy the love story in Clash. But I would be happy just to get one, anyone of them on the channel.

MikeLL

Night Gallery is a TV episode or two. Spielberg first directed some TV episodes before he made movies. I think he directed a Columbo episode. Night Gallery was an anthology horror series, trying to be like Twilight Zone.

MikeLL

I still want to see the Dial of Destiny reaction.

MikeLL

Don't forget that DUEL was an ABC TV movie of the week. Completely made for TV. It did get theatrical distribution later because it was so good. DUEL definitely got Spielberg out of TV, though.

MikeLL

Mark White, just pointing out that Duel was not Spielberg's first proper movie. It was a TV movie, filmed for TV broadcast. The Sugarland Express was Spielberg's "first proper movie." Just saying, not a big point.

Mark White

Anthony, “become like Indiana Jones” you have to dream, as a kid I’m pretty sure I had that dream. Although mine was probably more as a side kick to David Attenborough who was my hero growing up. I really should of taken History as my degree, instead of Marine Biology. I’m love learning about ancient civilisations and Empires. I’ve spent many a day in the many great museums in London. Including the British museum, which does sound similar to the institute you mentioned in Chicago. It’s got Artifacts from all over the world. It’s pretty incredible. The only down side is knowing that most of it was stolen during the time of the British empire and now many of those countries want their stuff back! And I don’t blame them! I don’t know if I shall ever get to go to Chicago, but if I do the Oriental institute will be top of the sight seeing list.

Mark White

You know Clarence in the multi universe theory where there is a infinite amount of possibilities. There is a Universe where you are with Caroline Munro! And there for Im with Judi Bowker! 😃 But there’s also a Universe where you could be with Margret Thatcher and I’m with Ann Widdicombe! 😳

Chris Thom

Oh I see. That must've been where he worked with Joan Crawford. I remember there being a clip of her in his documentary.

Mark White

I agree Richard, only the good ones. so Cannonball Run 2 it is then😆

Chris Thom

Whoops. Yeah you did. Tendency to skip the last in a list, sorry. I'll substitute Mike Nichols. I know she just did one with Charlie Wilson, but there's some solid ones left. Closer, Are You Afraid of Virginia Woolf, The Graduate, Postcards from the Edge. Wolf is decent.

Chris Thom

Had no idea there was a 2018 one. In general I don't know if that's her type of movie, but could make for a fun reaction. Maybe an October thing.

Uncle Phoenix

I’m pretty sure that they are Not her type of movie; but I was asking if people who have seen them, think that she would enjoy them even though she would never watch them on her own.

Chris Thom

Whattup. Nobody seems to mention Road to Perdition. Was that not considered one of his better ones? One of the first Paul Newman movies I ever saw, but I still think it holds up pretty well.

Above Average Dave

Truth, although Newman’s more of a supporting actor in that one. Brilliant, though. Ditto on HUDSUCKER PROXY.

Mark White

Clay, I’ve got to admit, they are all very good movies. I remember Empire of the Sun being very popular when it came out in the 80’s, which is why I think it would win. I remember watching Amistad in the cinema in Australia in 98, it’s very good. Bridge of Spies very good as well. No brainer really for Cassie. I feel Cassie would Enjoy all three! But…..to quote Cassie “oh my gosh!” How excited would I be for duel. Sorry I keep mentioning it. My excitement just gets the better of me! 😆

Chris Thom

Holding out for Ai: Artificial Intelligence mostly. Such a weird, beautiful, offbeat movie. Think it would make for an interesting reaction on this particular channel.

bgb1975 (Brian)

I agree w/ Carol. I think that the prime of Spielberg has been covered. I don't remember much of Bridge of Spies. I think it put me to sleep.

bgb1975 (Brian)

We definitely need more Robin Williams. I'd love to see her reactions to "The Birdcage" and "Patch Adams".

Mark White

Yeah, Mike you are correct of course. But the reason I say first proper movie, is when I say it’s his first movie, I often get picked up on that too and I’m reminded he did a movie before Duel called “Amblin” in 1968 released in one theatre and its only like 30 mins long. At least Duel made as a full release into theatres eventually. But, yes. Sugarland Express was first movie to go straight into the theatres. I get carried away! 😆

bgb1975 (Brian)

Agree with Clint Eastwood, but would prefer "A Perfect World" prior to any of his others!

bgb1975 (Brian)

Strong agree that Robin Williams is being overlooked by PiB! "Birdcage" and "Patch Adams"!

Mark White

As long as it’s not a big Moth flying in through that open window!! 😂

Mark White

I hear you Micheal, many people have mentioned Jen to me and I have given her channel a go. But as with all other reactors I try, it just doesn’t feel the same. I think I shall always be a one man reactor. Cassie, just makes feel relaxed and happy 😊

John Liebling

One brief dance, which is not part of the plot, just used for emotional purpose, is not what I'd consider Cassie getting the Astaire/Rodgers experience. And there are plenty of other great partners her danced with. As for Gene you're right, but even if the movie is not a great movie, its a fun experience watching Gene and Frank Sinatra. And American In Paris comes very close to being as good as Singing in the Rain.

BriGuy

Definitely Bridge of Spies. And given her love of romance, I'm sure she'd like 1989's "Always" with Richard Dreyfuss and Holly Hunter (and the final film appearance of Audrey Hepburn).

Uncle Phoenix

@Chris Thom The new Predator movie is coming out November 7th and will be starring Elle Fanning. It will be called, “Predator Badlands” (2025).

Clay F

Popcorn Requests (Patrons' request list) is a great list. A lot of good movies in the top 300. Too bad patron participation is so low.

Mark White

Hey guys, I don’t think we have thought this through! We need to work together here to strategically get at least two if not three polls on the same number of votes! That way we can get a good mixture of movie polls from this?! 😉😆

Clarence Newman

To begin with, can the 1,843 people who have thus far not voted for Paul Newman please vote for Paul Newman? If I get Cool Hand Luke as a result, I will wash all your cars.

JAKH

Clint Eastwood Actor Poll Clint Eastwood Director Poll John Wayne Poll Charles Bronson Poll Jason Statham Poll Michelle Yeoh Poll Jackie Chan Poll

Kristian

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof would be my Paul Newman choice.

Kristian

It looks like Steven Spielberg is winning. A great Spielberg film would be West Side Story (2021). It's amazing and a love story!

bgb1975 (Brian)

I gotta make a stronger push for "The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean" (1972) as a great Newman one, especially for PiB for this reason: I suspect that the way the Judge feels about Ms. Lillie Langtry in the movie mirrors the way that many of us (or at least one of us) feel about a certain PiB star! It would be especially fun to watch if Cassie went into this movie knowing that! Am I the only one here that has seen this movie? It is very, very loosely based upon the lives of real people. I know Clarence has seen it (and that it didn't really strike him as one of Newman's best). You need to re-watch it, Clarence!

Clay F

I am always up for more Clint Eastwood. A suggested actor as a basis of an actor poll = any one of the following: Denzel Washington, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Christian Bale, Sean Penn, Daniel Day-Lewis, Ben Kingsley, Ralph Fiennes, Robert De Niro, Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Donald Sutherland, Christopher Walken, Kate Winslet, Cate Blanchett, Hellen Mirren, Jessica Chastain, Natalie Portman, Scarlet Johansson, Susan Sarandon, Geena Davis, Annette Bening, Frances McDormand, Reese Witherspoon, Naomi Watts, Michelle Williams, Carey Mulligan, Penélope Cruz, Florence Pugh, Maggie Gyllenhaal, or Nicole Kidman.

Clay F

Clarence -- the total number of votes is not the total number of patrons who voted. Instead, it is the total number of votes. Remember a voting patron can cast multiple votes.

Clay F

I liked Prey (2022) much better than Predator 2. Never seen the 2018 The Predator, though I do like Thomas Jane and Olivia Munn. The Predator (2018) = IMDb 5.3, RT 34%, RT Audience 32%. I am a fan of Elle Fanning -- will be curious to see how "Predator Badlands” (2025) is received.

Clay F

+1 for Training Day especially for the Denzel performance.

Clay F

Hold Down A ("Ames) is now reacting to TNG select episodes -- full reactions on her Patreon. I didn't like Section 31. If Cassie returns to Trek, series to consider are Picard, Voyager (abbreviated), SNW, and TNG episodes she skipped. DS9 is apparently off-the-table b/c even the most ardent fans of DS9 seem to say that DS9 cannot be reacted to in an abbreviated fashion. I am currently watching Jen Murray's full reactions to DS9 episodes (Jen is not skipping DS9 episodes). Jen may also react to Voyager. Enterprise is low on my list personally -- though would give Enterprise another chance. I am curious about the prequel movie to be released next year. *Director: Toby Haynes, who also directed Andor and Black Mirror *Screenwriter: Seth Grahame-Smith, who wrote The Lego Batman Movie *Producer: the genius J.J. Abrams *Setting: Pre-Kelvin timeline, before Star Trek (2009) *Focus: Humanity's early contact w/aliens and formation of the United Federation of Planets Were it not for the prequel, Star Trek 4 would likely be further along. Paramount has prioritized the prequel. The Abrams Trek 4 movie will happen once Pine and Quinto get fully onboard. Paramount still planning Trek 4, but latest news mostly focuses on prequel production

Clay F

The only two I voted for = currently the top 2. Maybe she will do both. There are several good movies in the PR Top 300. As for the Spielberg poll, I think my most desired candidates in order will be: 1. Bridge of Spies 2. Empire of the Sun 3. Amistad. Those 3 are different than any Spielberg movie that Cassie has reacted to. Would be fresh. Other Spielberg I would consider: 4. The Color Purple (1985) 5. The Fabelmans (2022) 6. Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) 7. A.I. (2001) 8. The Sugarland Express (1974) 9. West Side Story (2021).

Mark White

That’s quite the Actor list Clay. I think you picked some of the very best. Interesting though, no Al Pacino. Are you not a fan? Or do you think Cassie has already watched his best? Just curious.

Clay F

Mark — I am a big Al Pacino fan. My list was already so long. I would love to see her react to Donnie Brasco (1997) = one of my top requests for her.

Clarence Newman

I would not not be against any of the names listed here that I am not against. With the exception of Michelle Yeoh (whose films I don't really know), JAKH's list sounds like heaven to me.

Clarence Newman

All I know is that of the 2,006 votes cast at the time of my post, only 173 had been cast for Paulie. Therefore, everyone needs to vote for Paulie on the grounds that all the proceeds for his his salad dressing went to charity.

Gábor Árki

From what I gathered, these are the Spielberg directed movies left (neither reacted, nor watched already off channel) with their Popcorn Request position: 88. Empire of the Sun (1987) 291. Duel (1971) 358. The Color Purple (1985) 384. AI Artificial Intelligence (2001) 459. Amistad (1997) 487. Bridge of Spies (2015) 506. Always (1989) 706. 1941 (1979) 1163. The Adventures of Tintin (2011) 1480. The Fabelmans (2022) 1680. The Sugarland Express (1974) 1801. West Side Story (2021) 4936. The BFG (2016)

Greg In East TN

Well, I spent 4 years in the army, mostly as tank crewman/commander, so it's up my alley. Plus the all star cast is great! I love Don Rickles, too!

Chris Thom

I didn't realize War Horse was on the channel already. Not sure why I assumed she'd never seen The Terminal.

Chris Thom

Yeah I'm wondering if Phantoms (1998) counts as good or bad.

Mark Vaderr

Are you saying it's possible that Cassie has not seen a Reese Witherspoon movie? Also, your list is incomplete without Henry Fonda, Jack Lemmon, Russell Crowe, Katharine Hepburn, Sidney Poitier, William Powell, Cary Grant, James Stewart, Robert Mitchum, Audrey Hepburn, and Boris Karloff. A Scarlet Johansson poll? Really?

Alex M

Barry Lyndon was a wonderful surprise. I don’t remember how I ended up watching it, but I don’t think I chose to watch it. Regardless, I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought Ryan O’Neal did an outstanding job.

The Star Treker (aka Michael)

Honestly, I really hope Cassie eventually watches all the Star Trek shows and movies. Skipping any just because some fans don't like a certain series? That makes no sense to me. Every version of Star Trek means something to someone—and I've watched and genuinely enjoyed every single one of them, even the ones that get a lot of hate. Sure, not every fan likes every show and movie, and that's fine. But fans like me, who actually enjoy all of them? We're rare. Some I might love more than others, but none of them have ever disappointed me. TNG will always be my #1—it's what got me into Star Trek as a kid, right alongside reruns of the original series. But DS9? That's right up there too, tied with TOS for second place in my heart. And this idea that DS9 can't be reacted to in a shortened or "abbreviated" way because some so-called hardcore fans say so? Total nonsense. I get that DS9 is deep and serialized, but come on—gatekeeping how someone's supposed to experience it is just ridiculous. I also love Voyager and Enterprise just as much. And speaking of Enterprise, I never understood why it got so much hate when it first aired, only for people to suddenly come around years later. I've loved it since day one. It's set 100 years before Kirk and Spock, about the very first Starfleet crew aboard the first Enterprise—before the Federation even existed. It's full of great connections to the rest of Trek, and honestly, it deserves way more appreciation than it gets. What I love most about Star Trek as a whole is how it explores different corners of its universe—different crews, different eras, different perspectives. It's not just about one ship or one timeline. Sure, not every episode is a home run, but that's okay. The journey is what matters. That's why I really think Cassie should react to all of it, even if she only does a handful of key episodes per series. There's a lot of Trek—940 episodes across 49 seasons, not counting the movies. Once she finishes the classic shows—TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise—the newer ones like Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, Prodigy, Strange New Worlds (and soon Starfleet Academy) will be easier to get through, since most of those are only 10 episodes a season. lol And yeah, as much as I enjoyed the Kelvin Timeline films, let's be real—it's probably dead, while I hope I'm wrong. That fourth movie's been in development hell forever, passed around from one director and writer to another, and nothing ever sticks. And that Kelvin Timeline prequel movie has been in talks for almost over a year or two now and I haven't heard any updates about it in a while. Now with this whole Paramount-Skydance merger that gets final approval extension following controversial lawsuit settlement this week, I'm honestly getting worried about Star Trek's future.

Stick Figure Studios

She's already seen a third-tier Spielberg movie when she reacted to HOOK. Thankfully there are still several more top-tier Spielberg films She can watch.

Stick Figure Studios

@Gabor: 1941 is fourth tier for me. It's the only Spielberg directed movie that I would call outright "bad."

Jim

I have seen The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean, and while I think it’s a cute movie with some humor and a couple of memorable moments, it was not a critical or commercial success. The movie’s only Academy Award nomination was for Best Song, and it lost. The Hustler received 9 Academy Award nominations, and won 2. The sequel, The Color of Money, done 25 years after The Hustler, had 4 Academy Award nominations and earned Paul Newman his only career Academy Award win. If nothing else, it’s fascinating to see Paul Newman playing the same character 25 years later.

JAKH

+1 for "Donnie Brasco"

TheWebShark

LOL...Ok ok ok ok, let's put on the brakes here. Even my OCD, is screaming run away, for Dial of Destiny. 😵 Somethings should be forgotten and erased from all memories forever.

TheWebShark

Hahaha. You got in trouble. He pulled a, "don't make me come in there" move on you guys. Speaking of old guys getting into trouble..... Cassie, I humbly request, you add, "Waking Ned Devine" (1998) to your watch list/schedule. It's light-weight (see what I did there), funny, and there's a love story and there might be a happy ending, everything Cassie wants in a movie.

Clay F

She has not seen Freeway or Mud — two of my favorite Reese Witherspoon movies. I do like Russell Crowe and would not object. Again, my list was already so long. I counted as complete b/c have to draw the line somewhere. I love Audrey Hepburn, but I would much prefer a Scarlett Johansson poll than a Audrey Hepburn poll. Cassie already reacted to Roman Holiday — my favorite Audrey movie but has not reacted to Lost in Translation. Further, I am more interested in movies from the last half century (1975-2025). While, I like watching classics and charismatic actors in the classics, I prefer modern movies. Importantly, suggestions are often dominated with ancient actors — and thus I try to provide a balance. There are excellent actors of today in great movies. An actor is not great merely b/c the actor is from 80 years ago. An actor is not bad merely b/c the reactor is young or middle aged.

Clay F

West Side Story (1961) is shown as "seen" at popcornrequests. West Side Story (2021) is shown as "unseen" at popcornrequests. Didn't check her letterboxd.

Richard Maurer

Hey mods, The WebShark is mocking both Mike and me in the post above. I believe this falls under the rule about not harassing fellow patrons. I certainly feel harassed.

Stick Figure Studios

Ah, interesting. I believe I remember her mentioning that she had seen it In the intro of a reaction with Carly (but I don't remember which one) and there was something In what she said that made me think it was the new one, but obviously I could be easily mistaken.

Richard Maurer

I have something I need to say about what occurred below. (If you don’t know, scroll down, it’s the one with all the ominous black posts). While I didn’t intend break any rules here I apparently did so. it has been pointed out a post I made could be interpreted as insulting. This was not my intent, but seeing as Ben himself decided to weigh in on this, I accepted his judgement on the matter. But, Ben also clarified that it is fine to make negative comments about movies (and I assume other non-personal subjects) on someone else’s comment. Basically I can post I don’t think Ernest movies are funny on someone’s pro-Ernest comment. But I can’t say “I can’t believe you like such garbage”. As to why I would feel the need to say negative things about a movie someone is promoting - that should be obvious, I don’t want Cassie wasting time on a bad movie, and If no one let’s Cassie and her team know there are people who don’t like a movie, they may assume there is no opposition to it being on a poll. Finally, going forward, I would hope this stringent application of the rules are applied equally to all patrons, particularly with Halloween coming up, it would be nice not to be called a sadist who enjoys seeing Cassie suffer simply for asking her to watch a mainstream horror movie, As I and other horror fans have endured for every Halloween since I’ve been here, and with no public reprimands of the people responsible.

Clay F

Respectfully, I think Superman 3 and Airplane 2 are bad movies. The vast majority of sequels are bad movies imo and should be avoided. Please for sure skip Superman 4. Superman (1978) = IMDb 7.4, Metacritic 82%, RT 93% (audience 86%) Superman 3 (1983) = IMDb 5.0, Metacritic 44%, RT 29% (audience 23%) Superman 4 (1987) = IMDb 3.7, Metacritic 24%, RT 10% (audience 16%)

Gábor Árki

I also remembered some talk about West Side Story, but after checking both Letterboxd and PR only the 1961 version was marked, so I assumed it must have been about that.

Shawn Kildal

Her TOS episodes reaction video currently has over 200k views on it.

Shawn Kildal

Whatever happened to the Oscar monthly draw I wonder

Clarence Newman

I've already said my piece on that one, Richard, but I agree with you. Horror fans get way more stick in October than what was jumped on below. White knights do too, but it's considered fair punch-ups. I'm kind of struggling with it myself right now.

Clarence Newman

Was there meant to be one? I'd go for watching Stallone in Oscar (1991)

Mike Lemon

"I would hope this stringent application of the rules are applied equally to all patrons, particularly with Halloween coming up" Hahahahahahahaha... Good one. Also, someone with say really needs to reply to Clarence's great comment in that thread. I'm sure you've felt it too, but something has been going on for a while (since *that* Pick-A-Flick post???).

Richard Maurer

Clarence - thank you for having our backs below. Meant a lot to me. As far as Halloween goes, I’ve always started out following the rules. I may have bent them in the heat of battle, but I don’t believe I ever started the trouble. I would put anything I said under the category of self-defense.

Clarence Newman

My motives are entirely selfish, Richard. If you leave, I won't be able to insult you from dawn till dusk!

Richard Maurer

Mike - I had considered leaving PiB’s patreon over this. Part of the reason I didn’t is that I believe it would give a certain person too much satisfaction if I did. But mainly I didn’t leave because I don’t want to.

Richard Maurer

I couldn’t leave Clarence, I couldn’t allow you to get away with the written crimes you commit on a daily basis.

Mike Lemon

Richard- Ditto, except I'm still considering, but my year just renewed.

Richard Maurer

I’d also like to thank a person calling themselves TheWebShark, their comment on “that” post below gave me the impetus needed to get me back in the game.

Gábor Árki

Sadly it's gone, but not forgotten. I've asked a few times about bringing it back, and I've seen others do the same. But there have been no responses, at least not that I've seen, and it still hasn’t returned. +1 for Oscar

My_Cousin_Mose

I'll peak my head out of the bunker to say I'm flabbergasted that those 2 comments led to the hammer being dropped on you guys.

Joe J

Clarence - your reply to the post was amazing, thank you. Making mountains out of mole-hills is certainly not something I want to see around here. This incident has given me pause for thought, haven't decided yet whether to leave or stay.

Just Plain Bob

Amen to all of the above, except the stuff Clarence said. While I agree with the merits of his statements, I feel the need to disagree just on general principle.

Mark White

Clay, may I just say I do enjoy your RT and IMDB scores and I would miss them if you didn’t put them up. But, I have found that Sharknado has a 77% RT score and even worse Zombeavers has 72% RT! Does this maybe undermine you using RT scores to say sequels are not worth watching? Personally for me If I had to choose between Zombeavers and Matrix Revolutions which only has 33% I choose matrix Revolutions any day! And twice on Sunday! 😆

Mark White

Yes, me too Clay +1 for Donnie Branco.

Mark White

Yes Clay, I was thinking Lost in Translation. To be fare, I don’t think we need a Scarlett Pole, we just need a reaction to “Lost in Translation” asap!

Clarence Newman

Thank you, Bob. That saves us from an awkward Masonic handshake.

Clay F

+1 for Oscar The poll was called "Noms of Oscars Past" which I notice was done 5 times in 2022. I have commented multiple times requesting that poll be done again. She randomly selects a year and includes the Oscar Best Picture nominees for that year in the poll.

Clay F

The poll was called "Noms of Oscars Past" which I notice was done at least 5 times in 2022. I request that poll be done again. She randomly selects a year and includes the Oscar Best Picture nominees for that year in the poll. "Noms of Oscars Past" could be included as a choice in Pollception, or she could make an executive decision to conduct a "Noms of Oscars Past" poll as she did multiple times in 2022.

Clay F

Looks like Popcorn Requests (e.g., #1-50, #1-100, #1-200, #1-300, etc.) random selection poll may become a regular occurrence. There are thousands of patrons but so little participation at Popcorn Requests. Currently, only takes about 20 requests to get a movie into the top 300. If you want to request or upvote movies at Popcorn Requests, post a comment in the PiB Discord “web-app” folder to “@Planner” requesting that your Patreon account be linked.

Aaron Taft

Can we get the "Scare the Crap out of Carlie & Cassie" Movie selections for October started? I vote John Cusack's 2007 movie ""1408""

Popcorn In Bed

it got tricky because when i pulled the year i had seen a lot of the noms of that year, i guess i could comb through other categories that year though for a poll

Gábor Árki

Yeah, that could be one option, instead of just best picture nominees, also adding best actor, actress, and maybe even other categories, like best direction, writing, etc. to have a good amount of poll candidates. But I think it could also work to include movies from multiple years. For example, if you draw 1988, you could also add the best picture nominees from the year before and after, so 1987 and 1989 as well.

Just Plain Bob

Modern horror movies rarely scare me. But that’s a good one.

Gábor Árki

I’ve got a suggestion for a recurring monthly poll: the Second Chance Bucket. All the movies that lose on the polls of a given month and don't get a reaction would be added to a bucket. After the end of the month, Cassie could randomly draw a few of these movies giving them a second chance on a dedicated poll.

Popcorn In Bed

Not Cassie here. Richard. You are right. The rules should be applied to everyone. It's difficult for Cassie and I to monitor and manage all of the comments because there are so many, but I feel like the mods do a good job of letting us know of any issues. I also enjoy horror movies and see nothing wrong people wanting Cassie to watch them. And yes, your examples are exactly what I'm talking about. Movies are subjective, just because you (or even the general public) thinks a movie is bad doesn't mean that someone else doesn't consider it one of their favorites (I can think of 5 movies that Cassie absolutely loves that are all very poorly rated). All I'm asking is to not personally jab at the person, but jabbing on the movie and letting everyone know why you don't like is completely acceptable.

Richard Maurer

Thank you for the reply, Not Cassie. ;-)

Mike Lemon

@Not Cassie- Okay, I'll say it. The problem is the other comments that a mod jumped on to start this were explicitly about the movies. That is why Clarence's comment in the other thread (started by shireknight) really needs a reply.

Richard Maurer

Mike - that mod has commented that my comments are too negative several times. Not that they broke any rules, just too negative. That’s why I kept asking for clarification. Hopefully Not Cassie weighing in will put an end to that.

Mike Lemon

Yeah, mine too. It's why I think Clarence's comment needs addressed, especially the last couple paragraphs ( "It's starting to feel like a personal attack against two people ..." ).

Popcorn In Bed

(Ben here) I saw Clarences' message come in yesterday but I was doing the 12-hour drive back home and couldn't read/respond. The only reason I stepped in initially is because the mods notified me of an issue they had already tried to address multiple times. When they mention to me that there's a recurring issue, I have to act on that. It's clear from this discussion that the problem is more complex than just one set of comments. It seems to be about a larger breakdown in communication between some of you and the mod team, and that needs to be fixed. I know the mods well and I trust them 100% when it comes to making decisions for the betterment of the community, but my job is also to ensure this community works for everyone. So, here's the plan: I'll have a direct conversation with the mods about our approach to these situations, how we de-escalate, what to do if their requests are ignored, and how we can apply the rules with the consistency you all (rightfully) expect. At the end of the day, Rule #1 must apply to everyone: "Be kind to each other." Debate the movie, not the person. We're going to reset and enforce that standard across the board. I appreciate the honest feedback guys. Next time, let's do this the easy way and hop on a discord call to discuss this so I don't have to write these essays (although I have nothing on clarences essay abilities =). I have to get back to editing the 'surprise' reaction so I can post it tonight.

Richard Maurer

Thanks again, Ben This Time. ;-). I don’t normally do discord but I suppose I could make an exception. All I ever wanted was clarity and fair treatment. I have that now, and hopefully we won’t have to take up any more of your time.

Mike Lemon

Thanks. "...and hop on a discord call ..." That will not happen for me, because, reasons.

Cole Jennett

I could get on board for that, but I’d want there to be some sort of threshold the movies would have to clear on the previous polls. Like say 15% of the vote would qualify to go in the bucket. I wouldn’t mind that at all.🤔

Chris Thom

1408 is great. And it's scary without even being rated R. I really like Joy Ride (2002) too. Another horror-adjacent thriller that gets your blood pressure up. In a good way. Kind of a Hitchcockian horror, more than Horror....horror.

Chris Thom

A lot of people haven't been able to use the Popcorn Requests app because of linking issues or whatnot. There are a lot of movies that would be higher up the list, I suspect. I know I haven't been able to use it.

Old As Dirt Bert

Thanks (Ben here) - that's the way it ought to be again. The focus should be on the films, good or bad, and what's good (or bad) for those reacting and for the channels. Comment duels in Acerbia (or Absurdia) don't help make reactions better or more diverse in my opinion.

Grad

I think we're overdue for some classy Asian horror on the channel. The Ring (1998) would be a good starting point.

Gábor Árki

I don’t believe that would be necessary. Or even effective. In many cases, excellent movies receive only a small percentage of the votes, lot less than 15%. Especially in single-choice polls where typically two titles dominate, cannibalizing most of the votes from other entries. If a sufficiently large number of movies, say 6-8, are selected for this poll, the odds of all of them being unpopular outliers is statistically very low.

Richard Maurer

I’m still hoping for It Follows and Train to Busan

Richard Maurer

Maybe she needs watch a Mothra movie ;-)

Shawn Kildal

He was also one of the directors in Twilight Zone The Movie

Chris Thom

Just saw a great documentary for the Jaws anniversary called Jaws at 50 on HULU. There's also a truly fantastic doc still on HBO from 2017 called Spielberg.

Richard Maurer

4 days - no reply to my last comment. Hmmmmm…..

Mike Lemon

@Richard- Yeah, that is so surprising. (dripping more sarcasm than a xenomorph drips acid drool)

Richard Maurer

Mike - if the mods didn’t find WebShark’s comment to be a problem, then they should either tell us our comments weren’t actually bad, or try to explain why ours were but his wasn’t. Otherwise it just looks like selective enforcement.

Jim

Can I suggest a Jane Fonda poll for sometime in the future?

Brent Petty

I'd like to see an 80's poll. There's a lot of good ones Cassie AND Carly would like: War Games, Mr. Mom, The Final Countdown, Stripes and Flight of the Navigator to name a few.

Clay F

I like Klute (1971). Jane fonda with Donald Sutherland (RIP). Jane Fonda won Best Actress Oscar.

Mike Vickers

With Robert Redford's recent passing and your fondness for Brad Pitt you should do a "Spy Games" reaction.
