Jon's uncle is named BENJEN. And Tommen's actor is 17 here, I don't think you can call him little anymore.

Clay F

S4E3 Breaker of Chains --While standing next to dead Joffrey, Tywin instructing Tommen on the qualities of a good king seemed to irritate you, but I accepted it and focused on the dialogue. --Jaime forcefully doing Cersei next to their son’s corpse – I’m with you, I didn’t like that. I averted my glance away from the episode stream those few seconds. --Such a contrast between Sansa and her creepy escort Littlefinger. --Tyrion gave Pod a good farewell – “there has never lived a more loyal squire.” S4E4 Oathkeeper --My favorite part was the extended farewell Jaime gave Brienne, and the dialogue between the two. Her naming the sword “Oathkeeper” was awesome. --Maybe Jaime could never be forgiven for crippling Bran, but he could make some amends and/or do some good? A rehabilitation of sorts? --The scene with Margaery and Tommen was good. --If you recall, Lord Bolton is focused on getting Bran and Rickon. That’s why Locke went to the Wall – b/c thinking Bran/Rickon might be there with Jon. Of course, it was Ramsey who mentioned that Jon was a threat.

Rob Krčmi

John is NOT the best fighter in the world lol

MC

Show Adaptation: The TV show aged characters up significantly; Tommen began the series (Season 1) around 8 or 10 in the show, making him 10-12 by Season 4.

Dazman

Some fantastic dialogue in these episodes and well acted - particularly the Lannisters. The character development of Jaime is excellent - you see the complexity and the growth. .

Dazman

Without getting into nerdy power rankings, Jon is one of the best fighters in the show. So much so that a certain character later in the series notes that he has a reputation as the greatest swordsman who has ever walked. And reputation is a lot in Westeros.

Art of Free Speech

Re: Jamie, people are multifaceted. Even Ted Bundy, one of the very worst serial killers in history, who did absolutely horrific things, worked at a suicide hotline and used to walk Ann Rule out to her car to make sure she was safe. It didn't make him a good person. Wife beaters are often very nice to people who they're not close with, but they're still wife beaters. So Jaime was nice to Brienne... he's still a POS. He still raped his sister, killed his cousin to save his own hide, and pushed a child out of a window. He's multifaceted and has the capacity to be nice when it suits him. He's still a POS.

Wil Castillo

Brienne is keeping Catelyn Stark's promise with Oathkeeper, which was forged from Ned Stark's sword.

Cole Jennett

Dazman. There are people on here that are watching through for the first time at Cassie’s pace. You shouldn’t be alluding to anything that happens in futures episodes.

Clarence Newman

Just finished watching this. Great reaction from Cassie as always, and it's got me to thinking. Part of me was feeling a little concerned during these episodes, because Cassie is really going through it at the moment and it's bringing out some of those darker responses that are not usually a part of her golden personality. But then it occurred to me that this is exactly what movies and tv shows are for. Not the comedies and the Mr Brightside offerings, of course, but certainly shows like GoT. They enable us to exist within different worlds and under different circumstances without getting any of the dirt and associated crap on our clothes. We're obviously going to cheer for the heroes, but it's also just as acceptable to boo and hiss at the bad guys, wish pruning of the genitals on them and otherwise delight in their misery and demise. It enables us to air those deep thoughts and feelings for all the bad in the world, while satisfying our inner selves that we must be ok as human beings because we're rooting for the side of good. I grew up with the ultra-violent action movies of the 1980s and 90s - a genre populated by Stallone and Schwarzenegger and Van Damme et al, and which was governed at its height by a delightful little in-house battle known as The Body Count War. If Stallone killed 100 bad guys with his M16, then Arnold had to kill 200 with his Uzi 9mm. As the body count grew, so did our cheers. The point I am taking so long to make is that I personally engaged with this genre and many of the films therein, but at no time - literally not for one single second - did it make me consider getting off my couch, go buy an Uzi, and mow down 100 people in a shopping mall. It was harmless escapism, good guy versus bad guy, and when the credits rolled, we went about our lives with our sense of right and wrong not only intact, but strangely enhanced. If Cassie is ever concerned that she is releasing emotions during these reactions that she finds undesirable and perhaps embarrassing, I hope she realises the truth of it. She is the best reactor on the internet because of the heart that beats inside her. The softness of that heart guarantees that it will be kicked and punched throughout this amazing series and she is going to react in ways she would never normally do in real life. There's nothing wrong with that. It's all fiction, the journey is going to be worth it, and by the time she's done, there won't be a single thing she likes about herself that will have been left behind. Game of Thrones is just a tv show, but what a great tv show it is. Embrace the darkness along with the light, Cassie, because when all's said and done, you won't regret experiencing the whole.

AdrianF

Cole, Cassie's literally watched the stuff Dazman is talking about. If there are subscribers watching along with her that haven't watched the show that's their luck out surely?

AdrianF

Temu Green Goblin! Excellent

Cole Jennett

I think you need to read his message again Adrian. He reveals something that the audience doesn’t have confirmed for like 2 or 3 more seasons.

Dave

Adrian no, spoilers are spoilers. We are trying to preserve the experience of the show for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. We see it as the courteous thing to do. Dazman should edit out the spoilers.

Johnny Bullis

Hey Cass.. you should know the name.. its Benjen Stark

MikeLL

Wow, wow, WOW. What Cassie said in the intro! Cassie does it again. This is going into my notes to go over once the she has seen the entire series.

Kawaii Leonard

Hi Cole, it's not explicitly stated who did it but they were dropping hammers left and right. In universe, they don't know who is the murderer but I feel, we the audience, are supposed to know by now. Littlefinger says, "...blah blah blah...my new friends...a rose in the garden...growing strong." He explicitly states the house sigil and house words.

Above Average Dave

"Maybe Jaime could never be forgiven for crippling Bran, but he could make some amends and/or do some good? A rehabilitation of sorts?" Nope. Jamie is beyond redeptition. He recognizes it, verbalizes it often enough in the series to let us know he's aware of this (look at his casual quips as/after he pushes Bran out the window), and he accepts (and to a degree embraces) this. To refresh your memory and identify the character by his most outstanding traits: Jamie is a narcissistic murdering (sooooo many instances, but strangling his cousin while a captive comes to mind; oh, and more than anyone still alive, he kept Ned stark from leaving Westeros and thus losing his head), incestuous pig. That he dips his toes into empathy/kindness occasionally is only remarkable because it is such a marked departure from the depraved individual he is. Don't let the pretty face fool you. Jamie is on his way to the seven hells, and it's a willing journey of his own making.

Rob Krčmi

Jaime (both hands), Arthur Dayne, Barristan Selmy...they all would make John look like a lil kid. Come on now.

Kenneth

Suggestions for the Holiday Season , An excellent Christmas movie set during the depression."The Homecoming: A Christmas Story" a 1971 TV movie that became "The Waltons". A second Chrristmas movie "Office Christmas Party", a 2016 American Christmas comedy film with many famous comedic actors.

Brent Petty

Not sure why you disliked what Tywin said to Tommen. It was very good advice. Wisdom is an important quality for a king, if not the most important. Hate Tywin all you want, you'll be in good company, but because he is evil doesn't automatically mean he is wrong about everything. I'd rather Tommen has a good team of advisors. He wouldn't be perfect (who is?), but that's better than letting him be twisted by Cersei. And let's be real here: Cersei is a horrid excuse for a mother, and Jaime has very few redeeming qualities himself. Every child deserves parents, but not all parents deserve their children.

Kristin

For many, we didn't actually get confirmation until much mich later. It would best for the comment to be edited. Let it be a mystery. I hope Cassie is not reading these comments.

Cole Jennett

Kris, she’s been instructed to stay out of the comment section and this is a perfect example why, however, there are others who are watching the series for the first time and shouldn’t have there experience ruined either. But yeah, thankfully Cassie stays away.

Clay F

But you do agree that Jamie could make some amends or do some good, e.g., equipping Brienne to rescue Sansa.

Clay F

Yeah, sad that Cassie has to stay out of the Patreon comments section b/c of patrons who spoil like Dazman. I understand her staying out of the YT comments -- that's like the wild west. But you would think Patreon could be different. I agree with Cole, Dave, and Kris. The mystery remained a mystery or at least cryptic and unclear as to details. But never fear, Dazman spells it out for Cassie, depriving her of the experience we had in realizing aspects ourselves over upcoming episodes. Dazman should edit out the spoilers.

Kenneth

Cassie:: I am sure you have been told this countless times but you are the best movie reactor on the internet. I discovered movie reactors for the first time when I came across your site a good three (3) or four(4) years ago. Your choice of movies, your reactions and your movie commentary is unparalleled. Your channel is excellent and I hope to continue watching for a longtime to come. All the best, .

Clay F

Mark - I grew up w/guns. At age 9, shot my first squirrel with a .410 shotgun that my paternal grandfather gave us. The squirrel wasn't completely dead, so I had to hit the squirrel's head w/butt of the shotgun to kill it. Did a lot of squirrel hunting. Had a small dog trained to locate trees that had a squirrel. We ate squirrel dumplings and gravy. My maternal grandfather use a nut cracker to crack the skull to eat the brain. One night when 14, I killed 20 rabbits with a breakdown single-shot 12 gauge shotgun my grandfather gave me in particular. Had 20 dead rabbits hanging on my belt. When gutting them later, smell was awful. I sold for $2 each = $40 not bad for a 14 yr old in 1977. The only gun I now have is that 12 gauge -- somewhat of an antique and have no shells. I don't want a gun in house, esp. not back when my kids were young. We hunted raccoons at night. $20 for raccoon pelt. My brother trapped raccoons. When lucky, would catch fox (red or gray) = $60 for fox pelt. I walked (checked) traps with him a few times. Sometimes he would find a dismembered paw in trap. We also hunted deer - space ourselves along pipeline clearing and others would run dogs to flush deer into clearing. I used a 12-gauge shotgun or a .30-06 (the same rifle used to kill Kirk). A .30-06 can be just as devastating as AR-15. The community of 300 people (many related, e.g., my distant cousins) where I lived were famous for running dogs. Even had NYT article about them in 1980. At 16, I decided to quit killing animals and focused on being a photographer. I am a meat eater, so others do the killing for me. I do like venison (deer meat).

Clay F

Agree that by default, she is irritated by Tywin. But also bothered her that the conversation took place next to dead Joffrey. She would have been more accepting if they left the room to have the conversation. I liked the conversation -- Tywin has a presence about him.

Clay F

At least two aspects that seem to shake Cassie: 1. The Night's Watch renegades brutalizing women/girls at Craster's Keep. The depiction was fairly graphic. 2. The presence of Locke at the Wall. She is so focused on Jon Snow surviving.

Astraeos

Holy crap media comprehension is straight up dead. They flat out say it in episode 4. They flat out say it. Both Littlefinger and Olenna say it. Flat out. And you guys are saying something that was flat out said in this episode is spoilers? I have utter fear for the future.

Mike Lemon

Cassie would be deposed within days. She's too nice to defend the throne.

Clay F

She had a moment of reflection in the E4 reaction when she thought to herself that the series was halfway over. I am not very perceptive, but it was almost as if she wished wasn't already at half-way point? She loves show less after The Red Wedding but she still loves the show. At least a strong like. Captured by the show. She a smart lady, perceptive who appreciates stellar TV -- excellent writing, great dialogue, etc. Aspects are definitely entertaining and absorbing to her. There still plenty of characters she is very much invested. The kind of investment you really can't get in a 2-hr movie, but typically only with TV series, especially with an series having great writing like GoT. I wonder what next iconic series she will react to.

DavidJPL

Kenneth , agreed. I am much newer; YouTube just this 2025 year and brand new on Patreon, but am also here for the excellent Film choices and great reactions. I am often yelling at the screen as I am already well versed in most all of these great movies lol , but it is nice to watch them yet again (in less time) with such great Cassie comments.

DavidJPL

With 'Grandmother' Olenna Tyrell telling Margaery; "I was good. I was very, very good", I feel this is a good time to remind Cassie & everyone of legendary actress Diana Rigg. She was James Bond's wife in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", among many other classic roles. Her final role before her passing is the underrated Edgar Wright film "Last Night In Soho", which Cassie should add to her Watch List.

ArsTropica

I've learned that "I'm confused" really means "I've figured out 99.9% of the entire plot including what will eventually happen at the end of the movie... but that 0.1% is pissing me off!".

ArsTropica

not just excellent, consistently excellent - like a g*d**n metronome. when I grow up, I want to have Cassie's work ethic!

Kristin

Agreed, for anyone who is watching for the first time.

DavidJPL

Just because a character "Flat out says" something still doesn't make it absolutely true. Especially in a show full of liars like GoT. I also think some uncertainty would be nice to have until the dramatic clarity that comes much later.

bgb1975 (Brian)

She was really good in "The Hospital", too. I think that would be a good one for Cassie and Carly.

MikeLL

Very good comment, Kenneth. But you need to make it again in the comments to one of her movie reactions. She doesn't read the comments on Game of Throne posts to avoid series spoilers. But she will read the comments on her movie reactions. Better yet, post this again on one of her update posts.

AJ Romano

I am going to champion the idea that Cassie, as a palate cleanser, should watch the Red Nose Day GOT special when this season is over. The timing will be perfect like a Christmas gift to herself. First of all, as you all know, it's hilarious and good hearted. Second I believe the timing is accurate to where she will be on the show, so there will be no spoilers or anything. Third, I think she will need it as a reminder that this is just a television show to be entertained. Thoughts anyone??

D. T. Nelson

You love Davos. Okay. You want to marry Davos? Umm... how does Ben feel about that idea? 😉

A'rora Nightfall

The Hound was not wrong about that man and his daughter. You can't compare the world of GoT to the world we live in. You have to get immersed in that world. Once you do, you will understand that just about every viewpoint the Hound has is correct if you want to live in that world. I think too many people who are not deeply into GoT compare it to medieval Europe or some version of planet Earth, and it is simply not that.

A'rora Nightfall

In the books, it explains a bit better than Jaime had no choice. Bran was meant to be broken in the concept that time is a circle, not linear. To the uneducated GoT viewer, it is simply an asshole pushing a kid out a window and crippling him. The truth is, Bran was destined to be crippled and Jaime was just a tool that destiny used to make it happen. Jaime actually has one of the better character arcs in the series thus far.

Clarence Newman

Charles Dance is a superb actor and the character of Tywin needed a superb actor. Tywin has presence because Charles Dance has presence.

Brent Petty

I don't think anyone is disputing that. I know I certainly wasn't. He's actually my favorite character BECAUSE of how well he is portrayed. He has layers, even though Cassie is loath to admit it.

Brent Petty

Hopefully her next will be The Wire.

Brent Petty

Not to bring another show into this, but it's similar to S1-S2 Walking Dead Shane trying to get Rick to understand that the world is different now.

cals

I love this idea! I hope more agree and Cassie can see it too

James M

This show definitely engages you. Part of the reason for its success was how it pulled us in. You might be the first person I've ever encountered who expressed any compassion for Joffrey Baratheon's murder.

Clarence Newman

Not disputing you, Brent. Just doing a bit of extra campaigning for the man. Someday, I hope Cassie gets to meet Sardo Numspa.

James M

Interesting that you ask things like "why did he do that to her and her father?" It's what Arya asked and he answered honestly and plainly. They will die because he's not strong enough. So The Hound decided it's better for him to get the money than for another thief to get it or for it to be forgotten when the man dies. It's an honest answer. It's worth observing how people act and what they say. The Hound is one of the most honest and transparent characters in the show.

James M

I may be terrible but, I really like Tywin. No I don't like his having children killed or killing his enemies at a wedding. But I do think he's very clear about building something greater than his own personal comfort or grandeur. He always acts to help his family except perhaps in one scene which I found out of character, a mistake in the generally good storytelling.

Clay F

A big +1 for The Wire. That would be absolutely awesome. (Has a young Michael B. Jordan for her.)

James M

Sometimes the episodes end with terrible murders, and sometimes they end with the collars of slaves removed and freedom presented as a possibility to people who never imagined they could be free.

James M

When Margaery kisses Tommen on the forehead I thought "OMG maybe someone will actually protect this boy from his family." I know she's acting in her own interest, but she seems capable and loving. Someone please protect him!

Clay F

Other reactors I have watched jump up and down with joy watching Joffrey die at the end of S4E2.

Brent Petty

Agreed. I think Cassie has a bit of a mental block in that she defends everything the Starks do as protecting their family/house, but she hates Tywin for doing the same thing. Obviously, how each house goes about doing it is a sticking point, but as Tywin asked Tyrion, "why is it more honorable to kill 10,000 men in battle than a dozen at dinner." (Or words to that effect). The ends justify the means - we'll see where she lands on that by the end of the show.

Gray

Think Cassie like us wouldn't mind even more Bronn scenes of comedy inbetween the darker stuff

Clay F

"A wise king knows what he knows and what he doesn’t.” “One of my husbands preferred the company of men and was stabbed through the heart, another was happiest torturing animals and was poisoned at our wedding feast. I must be cursed.” "I will answer injustice with justice.” “Sansa’s not a killer. Not yet, anyway.” “I’m Brandon Stark, I’m Brandon Stark of Winterfell.”

Kiss the Librarian

The casting is perfect since Diana Rigg kills this role and looks like she could be related to the actress for Margaery.

aarswft

Never forgive them for the Jamie/Cersei scene. That was 100% not in the books. Pure D&D nonsense.

Kawaii Leonard

A lot of stuff is not from the books, which is fine. What's not fine is if you watch the behind the scenes of this episode, their intent was not rape at all but "aggressive" consensual sex. Which is dumb.

Clay F

There is much in the series that is not in (or different from) the books. The series is an adaptaption, not a duplication. The writers of the series contribute their own creativity. I didn't like the Jamie/Cersei scene but defer to the writers of the series in forging their version of the world.

Mike Lemon

"Pure D&D nonsense." ??? What kind of campaign are you playing?

Brent Petty

Had to Google that name. Never seen that myself.

Rick Williams

Two good episodes and reactions. Things are getting complicated. There are many wheels in motion. Powerfully forces are gathering. Not looking good for the Watch. Plus, the Watch is becoming divided.

Freja Corbinne

@Mike @Clay D&D said it was intended to be consensual. As depicted it clearly wasn't.

kaiielle

Got caught up last night and oh man, the howl of laughter that escaped me when Cassie said "Temu Green Goblin". 🤣 I've never seen anyone compare Burn Gorman to Willem Dafoe. I think that Elliot Page bears a close resemblance to Burn.

Mike Lemon

Oh, the show runners, right? Not actual D&D?

Freja Corbinne

OH yeah lmao David Benioff and D. B. Weiss not Dungeons and Dragons

Dazman

I've edited it because I could not stand any more hand wringing,, but it most certainly was NOT a spoiler. It was the episode she just watched, the murder method was revealed both by Baelish and Olenna and I also referred to the episode last week. I would never post spoilers. I thought having a comments section meant that we can discuss the episode but apparently I was wrong. Apparently only talking about the episode she just watched is a spoiler. Funny old world.

Dazman

I said I didn't want to get in to nerdy power rankings, you apparently have no such qualms. I never said he was the best, I said he was good and had a reputation. And fighting isn't flipping a coin - any one on a similar level can win on any given day. And of course the status of Dayne...

Dazman

Absolutely not a spoiler at all. And I'm really irritated that people say it was.

Dazman

@ClayF "I agree with Cole, Dave, and Kris. The mystery remained a mystery or at least cryptic and unclear as to details. But never fear, Dazman spells it out for Cassie, depriving her of the experience we had in realizing aspects ourselves over upcoming episodes. Dazman should edit out the spoilers." Ridiculous. It was all revealed in the episode she just watched. There is nothing else to learn on it. It does not develop over episodes/seasons. She just watched the episode so she knows. I am not depriving anybody of anything. I didn't refer to anything that happens in the future - ergo, no spoilers. Get a grip.

Dazman

Your post has just as many "spoilers" by your definition. All I did was mention something's she just watched just as you are.

Dazman

This confirmation much later nonsense. It is never mentioned again after this season. It's done and resolved. Cassie knows because she JUST WATCHED it. What are we supposed to talk about if not what she has just watched?!

VOCFM

The Game of Thrones world is as moral as they make it. To rob those people was still wrong and the hound is not correct for it
