You should definitely watch Gremlins 2: The New Batch next. The sequel's more zanier and meta than the original.

Thomas Kennedy

I think you’re referring to “Small Soldiers“ (1998). Coincidentally, same Director: Joe Danté.

Chris Thom

Kirsten Dunst's last kids/tween movie. Can't remember if it was any good or not. But I did see it at the theater I think.

CJ Holden

It was made with the intention of making fun of part 1 and it's glorious!

Mild spoiler for part 2: The neighbours have survived the bulldozer attack. Also Dick Miller, who played Mr Futterman, is quite a legend. It probably doesn't work for a reaction video, but check out the documentary about him: THAT GUY DICK MILLER. He was the king of the "Hey, I know that face" actors. Can we talk about for a moment what a bad a-money-money Billy's mom is? She sees something has hatched, hears scary noises and instead of fleeing when she sees them, MURDERS THE HECK OUT OF THEM! Then she goes to the living room, sees something move in a stocking and keeps slashing it with a knife! Sure, for a moment it looks like the one in the tree has the upper hand, but I'm sure if Billy hadn't shown up, she would've shot lasers out of her eyes. BTW, the monologue about the christmas trauma was always a bit controversial. Even Spielberg was against it, but to his credit, he usually is the kind of producer who trusts his directors and said: "It's your movie. If you wanna keep it, go ahead." And another fun fact: The original script was much darker and way more horror. Neither the dog or the mother survived in it. It's easy to find online and it's a good read, but honestly, what they put on screen is so much better. I'm glad that movie went so well for you and I really hope you check out part 2 as soon as possible. It's a fever dream of a sequel in all the right ways. Director Joe Dante refused to make it, because the shoot for part 1 was very stressy (They spent 6 weeks just shooting Gremlins puppets that constantly kept malfunctioning), but after they couldn't get a sequel off the ground with other directors, they just threw money at Dante and told him to do what he wants. And he wanted to make a parody of part 1. It starts with a short Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck cartoon during the WB logo and it's there to prepare you for the kind of movie you are about to see.

And thus the year 2025 ends. With Gremlins :-) After a year that felt like I was living in a world ruled by Gremlins, what a fitting end-of-the-year movie. So let me finish with a typical Bavarian Silvester (New Year’s Eve) greeting: “An Guaden Rutsch und a Guads Neus!”

Happy Hanukkah

The caroling itself makes me laugh, and Cassie's reaction, bless her, made me laugh twice as hard. :-) (And whaddaya mean "*pretend* to carol," Cassie?)

Happy Hanukkah

More of a Cassie line than 25:29. :-)

Happy Hanukkah

25:59 Pardon? I didn't quite catch that, Cassie. Could you please repeat it? :-) A fitting movie for the season! (Hint: 3DN.)
