Hi friends, whats poppin?

How was your weekend? Ben was out of town and I played the Saturday shuffle with all the kids stuff on Saturday. Mostly hockey. I swear I never warmed up all weekend because I was in an ice rink. The Canadian in me should have dressed warmer and been more prepared. Did anyone watch The Golden Globes? I just watched the red carpet and the highlights-Brittany Snow, Jennifer Lawrence, Tessa Thompson and Zoey Deutch were my best dressed! I thought the podcast sequence Nikki G did was hilarious! It's weird I'm in such a movie world I feel like but haven't seen any of the nominees except Sinners. I really do want to watch One Battle and Marty Supreme-are they on channel watches you think?

Welcome to Buddy Cop Week where unlilkley duos will solve crime, probably cost tax payers a lot of dollars and hopefully win our hearts along the way! Our Buddy Cop Poll winner was Rush Hour and close behind was The Nice Guys-I was planning on doing Midnight Run as my Popcorn Pick of the Month so I decided to make it a theme week-Buddy Cop&Pop is born!

I promise Justice League is still coming-its tricky because I want to watch it with Carly but she doesn't want to come near my STILL FREAKING SICK HOUSE!

On YT this week we will have The Rainmaker (somehow this one just completely fell into the couch cushions and we just accidentally forgot to put it on YT, so finally getting its day there) as well as Fantastic Four and GOT finale episodes-eeeeeeeee!!!!

We also had the December Pick a Flick drawing last week and it was a blast! Was on there for an hour just using a mouse for the first time apparently and it smelt like Blockbuster ;) Our winner was TANNER with The Assassination of Jesse James! If you want to enter for January's draw-you can enter any day in January right here-FAQ's should all be updated with how to do it!

We won't be doing a Trivia this first quarter because the 5TH ANNUAL POPPIES will be this first quarter-It's looking like most likely March 21st! Woah! I honestly can't believe it will be our FIFTH!!

Extra Butter LIVE this month will be 1/27!

Ok you guys are the best! Take your vitamin C!

Looking forward to Fantastic Four First Steps & these Buddy Cop films.

JPDotCom23

Yaaaaaay, finally, ‘Midnight Run’

Gray

What a week of reactions to look forward to and I get my long time PaF pick of The Nice Guys watched, pretty sweet!

Ryan Williams

Nice Guys and Midnight Run are all-timers. Can’t wait!

Raymond Terry

One Battle After Another is a definite reaction worthy movie

Blake Evans

It’s gonna be a good week. Nice Guys, Rush Hour and GoT! As if my week wasn’t already busy enough, but I’ll take it. Savor the small things.

Stevie R.

Speaking of cop movies, I can’t remember if I’ve said before but I highly recommend reacting to Police Academy (1984).

Collar City Guy

Rush Hour will be a good time, I just know it! Hope your sick house gets better soon 🙏

MikeLL

Arrest me now! Put me in jail, solitary confinement, I don't care! I don't want to miss a minute of this! What a solid line-up, one I will stand in and stand up for forever. Even GOT gets a spot. What a week it will be for all law abiding citizens and law breakers alike! Couldn't make a guess on which one Cassie will like the best, it's a pure judgement call!

Joe J

Curious, so how did Carly dodge the sickness and watch Fantastic 4 with you?

Dan M

Buddy Cop & Pop! Love it! Midnight Run and Rush Hour are a ton of fun. I’ve never seen The Nice Guys, so looking forward to checking that one out. Can’t believe it’s time for the 5th Annual Popppies already! One of my favorite ways to wipe away those January blues. And they keep getting better every year, so really pumped for this one! Cassie…YOU take your Vitamin C! And B, and D, and E, and K. Just load up on a really powerful Multivitamin. Wouldn’t it be nice to get through 2026 with no more illnesses?

John A

I can't believe we're finally getting Midnight Run! Years of begging has finally paid off, but now I have to choose my next movie to beg for... 🤔 Maybe one of Stallone's best, Cop Land

Eric C.

THE NICE GUUUUYYYYYSSSS!

Robert da Spruce

Sorry you’ve been sick for so long Cassie can’t catch a break 😭 I’m liking Buddy Cop week! Nice idea!

Stick Figure Studios

2026 is definitely off to a great start. My jaw unhinged, my eyes got as big as dinner plates and I literally shouted "YES!" out loud when I saw that you are finally going to be watching MIDNIGHT RUN. As is no secret around here, this is one of my all-time favorite films. I have seen it literally dozens of times. I've always known that you would like it, so it was the first Blu-ray that I ever sent to you and it was one of the five picks that I submitted when I won trivia night. For a while I was selecting it as my pick a flick, but I recently changed that because I had a feeling you might choose it as a PPOTM and it looks like I was right. As much as I am looking forward to your reaction to THE NICE GUYS (which I also love) and to some degree RUSH HOUR, the video I am most excited about this week is obviously MIDNIGHT RUN. Truly one of the greatest buddy action- comedies of the 1980s.

Joe J

Midnight Run I found pretty average, never saw Nice Guys.

Stick Figure Studios

I know, right? I am so happy. This will now be two of the five picks I submitted when I won trivia night that she will have seen. Only three more (CITY LIGHTS, CITIZEN KANE and THE FISHER KING) to go.

Frank Edwards

Though I think I know the answer, thought I'd ask if Meet me in St Louis will make it to YouTube or here for the little kernels. Thanks Cassie hope you all are better soon!

JohnnyUtah

What a lineup, still feel like no Tango & Cash on the poll was a missed opportunity!!!

Tyler Foster

Looking forward to all three movies this week. I think you'll be really happy with your PPotM and the winner of the poll is great. Here's also hoping to more Jackie Chan on the channel. I was rewatching some old video after Rush Hour won and you said "uno mas!" in it with Carly. Have you two already seen Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights? The latter has some of Jackie's all-time best American stuntwork. To see him do crazier things you'll have to look into some of his truly classic Hong Kong movies. There's definitely some dated humor in, say, the first three Police Story movies (what passed for funny at that time trends toward the wacky and probably a little bit mean-spirited), but I think it'd be worth it just to see him do the incredible things he can do (and in the third one, alongside Everything Everywhere All At Once's Michelle Yeoh).

Fanny Adams

MGM musical ...yes please

Larry Darrell

Buddy Cop Week looks Awesome! I just want to make sure that 2 other Buddy Cop films that have popped up in the frying pan due to proximity to other films, remain in the bucket… The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996) & Running Scared (1986) Both films being Christmas adjacent, BUT NOT Christmas exclusive. They can be watched anytime of the year. The Long Kiss Goodnight written by the same writer as The Nice Guys… Shane Black. and Running Scared, starring City Slickers’ Billy Crystal. The chemistry between these two sets of duos are some of the best in the genre, and both extremely overlooked and underrated. The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996), starring Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson & Running Scared (1986), starring Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines. Thank You.

Joshua Campbell

You can't be a Fantastic Four if its not actually four people. Fantastic Quote Ever.

Byrd N. Hand

I'm pretty sure "The Rainmaker" got blocked shortly after being uploaded to YT.

David Bockly

Just love Judy Garland! ❤️

Gábor Árki

Wow! For months now it was week after week where none of the reactions really interested me. And now there is a week with not just Midnight Run, but two other movies that I'm quite looking forward to.

Frank Edwards

Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker are great in this movie!

Uncle Phoenix

WOW!!! The app looks amazing. 🤩

Gray

Think she said she only ever seen Jackie Chan in Shanghai Noon, I've got Jackie Chan's Who Am I as my PaF. Some classic stunts and action in that one just before he broke into Hollywood.

Shehab Dawoud

That might be the best week in the history of the channel! It’s a shame that Carly won’t be watching any of them with you.

Walter

Wow, what a week! Great choices all around. Can’t wait!

Katie Sivak

Yay great choices Hope you can watch BH Cop 2 Also for Feb Hope Floats People we meet in Vacation Sweet November

Brian Harris

One Battle After Another is on MAX right now. It’s about a lot of stuff, but at its core, it’s really about a dad trying to protect his daughter. I think you’ll really like it.

pickupthepieces

One battle is definitely channel worthy.

Anthony DiBern

One Battle After Another is definitely an on-channel watch.

James M

I've seen "Midnight Run" twice and it surprised me both times. It's the performances from the two leads. They really are very good as a pairing.

Joe Cross

Woohoo! I’ve been waiting for the YouTube edit of The Rainmaker!

Andrew R

Definitely can't forget BHCII

Above Average Dave

Best. Week. EVAH! Thank you, Cassie! This will be so much fun. I hope people at your house recover soon. As you know, Diet Coke cures all (at least, that's what I tell myself as I guzzle the 32 oz from the local gas 'n sip). God bless!

Dan M

I remember Midnight Run being on your list Stick…seems like ages ago. Cop Land is so under appreciated….ill get on the begging bandwagon with you for this one.

Dan M

Running Scared…another great buddy cop movie. How about Stakeout with Emilio Esteves and Richard Dreyfuss?

Shawn Kildal

The Rainmaker was on YouTube but disappeared from it if I recall correctly

Dan M

Second that reminder for Beverly Hills Cop II.

CJ Holden

Something tells me you will love all of these movies, but especially THE NICE GUYS. Not just because you enjoyed Shane Black's KISS KISS BANG BANG so much, but because underneath all the tough guy talk, dark humor and sometimes more sometimes less comic violence, it has a certain amount of sweetness that should go over very well with you.

Vak

Watching "Rush Hour" with Cassie munching popcorn and quipping along with me should be a fun time. When Jackie Chan's in his zone, it's like Bruce Lee being directed by Mel Brooks. He's not QUITE at that level in this movie, but there are hints of it. He and Chris Tucker play off each other very well. Hell, I'm thinking of changing my monthly vote to "Rumble in the Bronx," depending on how she reacts to this film. If she likes this one, she'd LOVE that one.

Above Average Dave

Glad you liked it, Brian, but given that our theater trips are fewer and fewer lately, I was so disappointed I nearly walked out halfway through. So many plot holes and reality-breaking (not in a good way, either) leaps of faith that I wanted my money back after 30 minutes, and I'm a person who is a believer in sunk costs. All that said, as a creator, I'm glad it's finding an audience, and I'm glad you and a few others here liked it enough to recommend. If Cassie does watch it, well, I'll give it a YouTube like but I just can't watch that again.

Above Average Dave

"Marvin! Marvin! Marvin!" Also, Dennis Farina has a quote about having a sandwich that is not suitable for this board, but that my wife uses frequently. Love that movie.

Stick Figure Studios

COP LAND is very good. I wouldn't mind seeing a reaction to it.

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, Dennis Farina is great. Yaphet Kotto is great. Joey Pants is great. That film is just perfectly cast right down to the bit players.

clutchkman

Rumble in the Bronx is really good 👍

bgb1975 (Brian)

Yes! Midnight Run! Can't wait to watch it along with Cassie! Of course, it's no "A Perfect World" (cough), but it's a great one! The urge to share some favorite lines is great....holding back....for fear of spoilers....ugh....it's so hard!

bgb1975 (Brian)

Only twice, James? I think I've seen it at least a dozen times. A sign I need a life.....anyone have an extra life lying around?

Patrick Switzer

Good job Cassie and take care of yourself and take your Care Of supplements

bgb1975 (Brian)

Dennis Farina has a line in there that I find myself wanting to say to co-workers or service providers (at work) on an almost-daily basis. I'm hesitant to share it for fear of spoilers (no matter how small). I bet Stick can guess what it is. He says it over the phone to Tony at one point.

Stick Figure Studios

I'm pretty sure I know what it is. :-) And speaking of phones, Farina also has a great line regarding a telephone that he delivers to Phillip Baker Hall.

Clay F

Great week. Cranking out some good content. Looking forward to start of S5. One Battle is definitely channel worthy. So is Marty Supreme. The Assassination of Jesse James has been on my watchlist for a long time. Congrats Tanner. 48 HRS. (1982) [came in 3rd in poll after Rush Hour and Nice Guys] Don't forget the original 48 Hrs. (1982) [RT 92%] BEFORE the sequel BHC 2 (1987)[RT 48%]. 48 Hrs [Eddie Murphy, Nick Nolte] is "often credited as being the first in the 'buddy cop' genre." The musical score was composed by James Horner. Released by Paramount, 48 Hrs. was one of the most commercially successful films of 1982, receiving widespread acclaim from critics. 48 Hrs. was Eddie Murphy's first film and is arguably a needed watch to fully understand EM's career. Many of us older (60+) have nostalgia for 48 Hrs, not BHC 2.

bgb1975 (Brian)

lol.....speaking against my own self-interest, the proper way to address lawyers.

Larry Darrell

Emilio!! Hell Yeah!! Stakeout (1987) starring a cast that is no stranger to PiB, Emilio Estevez, Richard Dreyfuss obviously… with Madeleine Stowe (12 Monkeys/Last of the Mohicans) and Aidan Quinn (Practical Magic/Legends of the Fall) Directed by John Badham (WarGames), and who is no stranger himself to the Buddy Action film… Bird on a Wire (1990), starring Mel Gibson and Goldie Hawn The Hard Way (1991), starring Michael J. Fox and James Woods Let’s hope we see a return of the Buddy Cop Action Week again! :-)

Ted Whalen

Brian- Dennis Farina also had a couple of great telephone scenes in Get Shorty (such a great movie)

Stick Figure Studios

I never thought about that, but you're right. What is it with Farina and telephones?

Larry Darrell

+1 for A Perfect World (1993) Cassie needs all the reminding we can give her on that one. It was so close once before, but she hastily removed it. She needs to know this was the wrong call. Talk about a Buddy movie. 🥹

Paul Cox

Heads up, if you submitted your January PAF movie last week the old way (Google form), and go to the site today to officially create an account, you'll have to submit your film again. They did not port over.

Larry Darrell

Ditto. Kinda sad we didn’t get The Long Kiss Goodnight last month. With soon to be Shane Black fun to be had, here’s hoping Christmas comes early this year and The Long Kiss Goodnight gets an early watch. It don’t have to be watched at Christmas.

Mark White

Hi Cassie, it looks like another great week on PiB. Buddy cop movies are a lot of fun, so I think you will enjoy this week. Don’t forget a big day in your life and all of us who love PiB is coming up, 21st January is the date of “The Shawshank Redemption” being posted on YouTube! 5 years and still going strong! Sorry! bit of admin now. I have (actually My Wife Lucy) contacted you and Ben again via popcorn support. Contrary to my belief, the problem I had before has not been sorted out and unfortunately is still an outstanding issue! Please, please can someone take a look in to this. I sure you understand I really don’t want pay twice! I know you have so much to cope with, so I’m sorry to be a pain. Just got to say again, well done to Ben for the new PaF, it’s fantastic and I really enjoy it even more now with the new visuals. It’s great to see what other people have chosen. I hope the “sick house” gets better soon. You are the best ❤️ P.s don’t forget Beverly Hills Cop2!😃

Choof

One Battle is absolutely a channel watch, just be prepared for some comments from the worst people imaginable

Brian Harris

Eh, I get that it’s not gonna be for everyone. So little is, right? Generally speaking, I feel like if I don’t notice the plot holes right away, then the style is working well enough for me that the movie is effective, but obviously YMMV.

Milton Reduxed

I don't normally shout out other reactors, but just on the buddy-cop theme Madison Thames reacted to Stakeout last week on YT

Clay F

+1 for Ben and the new PAF.

Mark White

+1 A Perfect World, is a no brainer for Cassie,

MikeLL

Cop Land is excellent!

Milton Reduxed

Getting 3 movies in a week feels like the old days

Stephen Last

Did The Pitt winning best Drama convince you to watch it? It has been praised as the most realistic medical Drama

Milton Reduxed

This time of year oranges are in season so be eating at least 1 a day—3 a day if you're feeling under the weather—And Vitamin D + magnesium supplements to make up for lost sunlight

Mark White

Clay, I’ve got to say it’s a massive step up from the PaF before (that’s not to say I didn’t appreciate the original) The two biggest benefits are, seeing what happens to your pick, you really don’t miss a thing! And seeing everyone else’s picks as well.

Mike Lemon

"Did anyone watch The Golden Globes? " Is that the one that just happened where "celebrities" who are dumber than a box of rocks and know nothing about politics, were bitching about politics? Because I heard that part. That is also why so many don't care about the awards shows anymore.

Mike Lemon

That is crazy talk. You DO NOT NEED TO make another selection. In fact, people should probably delete it if they already did. In fact, don't even open up that tab until Indictment: The McMartin Trial (1995) has been watched.

David Collins

Still bothered that BHC 2 didn't get on the buddy cop poll. Best one of the BHC series.

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

I enjoyed your reaction to 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), Cassie. Fun Fact: That film is one of Tom Hanks' all time favourite movies ever since he first saw it in the cinema as a kid. In 2016, he appeared on BBC Radio 4 programme Desert Island Discs discussing his career and choosing his eight favourite pieces of music. When asked if he could save just one of his eight music tracks, he chose the Richard Strauss main theme music from 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)!! https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b079m78n

Nicole

Man tango and cash would have been fun for you to see

Kawaii Leonard

I'm seeing more and more right-wing talking points on this sub lately. I thought it was supposed to be politics free?

Mark T

So not wanting to watch a bunch of entitled celebrities pat themselves on the back means they're right-wing? I love movies but I have no interest in watching movie award shows, boring AF and I'm sure there are people on all sides that agree.

Oberhauser-Blofeld

Eat lots of Kimchi and or sauerkraut. Does wonders for the immune system.

David Freese

I'm excited for Midnight Run & Rush Hour. Stay healthy Cassie and make the kids get better. Have a great week.

Mike Lemon

Hmm... Why did you assume right wing when I didn't mention any political positions? Second, there are a ton of left wing politics here and they are usually given a pass (there is some in a couple of the post since the last update if you want to look), the right gets shut down pretty quick.

David Freese

She already has seen Turner & Hooch

Phil Stubblefield

Or at least keeps everyone else far away from you so they won't catch anything! 😆

Shreddy

"Stakeout" (1987) would have been good for buddy cop

Dan M

Bird on a Wire is good as well. I don’t think I’ve seen The Hard Way. Don’t remember anything about it.

Mike Redford

I'm not big on award shows, except the poppies 😉 Yeah, I'm definitely hyped for buddy cop week, though sadly I guess I have to wait longer for beverly hills cop 2 lol. Can't wait til you get to it. Rush hour, nice guys, and midnight run are all fun. No doubt you'll enjoy em.

Dave

No more politics, left/right wings, in this thread please, and thanks. Go be butt-hurt somewhere else, we're trying to enjoy the channel. Thanks again.

Nolofinwe

Even though DiNiro. Has since turned into a kind of rabid foaming at the mouth vulgar trump attack dog-hater. This movie “Midnight run “ is terriffic .

Larry Darrell

The Hard Way is pretty good too. James Woods is a tough abrasive cop working hard on a big case, and gets assigned a new “partner.” Michael J. Fox, as a big time actor researching a role as a cop for a movie. And he likes the method approach to acting.

Pop n Lock

Better that than being pdf file in chief

Mike Redford

Idk how BHC2 didn't Crack top two. We dropped the ball on that one, gang lol

Larry Darrell

Just a heads up Cassie, if you’re completely unaware… before watching One Battle After Another. The film is VERY CURRENTLY “Politically Charged,” so expect the comment section to very likely get heated. Perhaps make a suggestion in the post for the film, for people to make their own headline comments and not reply to someone else’s, creating ugly heated debate. Just a thought. (If you do suggest that, it’ll be interesting to see how long it lasts. ;-)

K, Zachary

Dear PIB Family and Distinguished PIB viewers About Last Week: We were in Colorado and Utah skiing. We had a blast I went over this on my latest YT video. We did watch What We Do In The Shadows with Kat too funny. We also watched City Slickers with Cassie. Again we were rolling with laughter. That was my Dad's pick when we were in the Dominican Republic. 🤯 The week ahead looks like a full week and we got some catching up to do, in the next couple of days GOT, Fantastic Four. After the Steelers lose last night I didn't sleep well. We just learned after 19 seasons Mike Tomlin is stepping down. I have known 3 Steeler coaches since childhood (or since Sharon Tate died) Chuck Nolan, Bill Cower and Mike Tomlin. Think about this when Tomlin was hired Motorola Razr were a thing. 🤯🥲 Dude never had a losing season. I think it's time for a song to cheer me up. Here is Blind Melon with No Rain https://youtu.be/3qVPNONdF58?si=OZXV65VSPEXRQXIr

Mike Redford

Rumble, my fav Jackie flick, and always love the stunt montage during the credits. Jackie was a beast.

Joe J

Bells & whistles, smoke & mirrors = A fancier way to watch myself lose....LOL.

Mike Redford

Surprised me a little too the first time, usually seeing Charles grodin as the grumpy gus type

Mark White

😂 you never know Joe! Are we going to get Under Siege on PaF then? Or have you chosen something different?

Stick Figure Studios

Charles Grodin (RIP) was a treasure. So hysterically funny. Just a master of deadpan and MIDNIGHT RUN some of his best work. He was one of my father's favorite comic actors and constantly became one of mine. I loved his first autobiography IT WOULD BE SO NICE IF YOU WEREN'T HERE. He tells some wonderful stories in that book.

Sophie Klatt

Midnight Run is the perfect action-comedy. My favorite DeNiro performance.

Bill W

Haven't seen Midnight Run in a long time. Looking forward to it. 👍

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, I liked the movie myself, but those of a certain, shall we say, political persuasion are going to hate it and if they're in this community they will definitely make themselves known in the comment section.

Stick Figure Studios

It's a classic. A fantastic road/buddy action-comedy. One of the best films of the 1980s.

Stick Figure Studios

De Niro is terrific in it. Grodin is also fantastic. It's probably my favorite Grodin performance.

Clay F

My son loves the movie.

Above Average Dave

I agree on the plot holes, Brian. FWIW, my wife says I see them "like an NFL coach sees a flaw in every play, even game-winning touch-downs." My line in the sand on these is, if they're too obvious and character choices are convenient to advancing them more than 1-2 times, then I am not going along. That said, I've seen movies I've been meh about, but that were well plotted, so I greatly appreciated that in them. Anyway, movies, books and music to me are like ice cream: Everyone loves it, but we all don't like every flavor. Again, as a creator (although not of that film, obviously), glad you enjoyed it!

Larry Darrell

I assume more than one political persuasion will definitely make themselves known in the comments. Which is why I thought to give the heads up.

Bill W

Also, Shandor at the Cinema recently did Running Scared (1986) Billy Crystal, Gregory Hines.

Bill W

Running Scared (1986) is another overlooked one. The script is a little dodgy, but Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines are great together.

Clay F

That is breaking news about Mike Tomlin. I like him. I remember when Chuck Noll and Bill Cower were coach. I live in Houston and been a fan of the Houston Texans since their inception, so I was happy with the outcome last night, but don't like that came at your expense. I love Blind Melon. My favorite BM song is "Change" (1992) (link below) -- maybe not as upbeat as No Rain. R.I.P. Shannon Hoon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyPQ5VSX_rI

Clay F

I hope the next 80s Eddie Murphy is the original 48 Hrs. (1982).

Clay F

Don't forget the original 48 HRS. (1982) [RT 92%] [came in 3rd in poll after Rush Hour and Nice Guys] BEFORE the sequel BHC 2 (1987) [RT 48%]. 48 Hrs [Eddie Murphy, Nick Nolte] is "often credited as being the first in the 'buddy cop' genre." One of the most commercially successful films of 1982, receiving widespread acclaim from critics. Many of us older (60+) have nostalgia for 48 Hrs, not BHC 2.

Stick Figure Studios

Probably so, but I suspect one political leaning will probably make more noise than the other.

Richard Maurer

I saw Midnight Run once back when it first came out. I remember it being funny but not much else. I’ll catch the YouTube edit when it comes out. Probably won’t watch the full reaction to Rush Hour either. It’s okay but I think the best part was the bloopers during the end credits.

Mike Lemon

See what I mean? And you don't even have to leave this post.

Richard Maurer

I wonder how much longer we can keep politics out of these comments? We couldn’t even comment on Fantastic Four without people coming in to imply that it’s “woke”.

Tyler Foster

Well, hopefully even if Shanghai Noon was watched off-channel, there's still the possibility of doing Shanghai Knights if neither has seen it. (Maybe Noon was a "don't-remember" situation too.)

Larry Darrell

Would there be anything wrong or bad about that? Does one political leaning have more acceptance here than another? If one political leaning makes more noise than another, does it make them wrong… or right… or does it just mean there’s more of them than the other? This film strokes the sensibilities of only one political leaning. It will create a divide in the comments. If we’re wondering who will be making more noise, I guess it’ll be between the people who are saying they didn’t like the movie and stating why… and the people having to defend it. It will be kinda interesting to see which side replies to the other more. But honestly, it probably won’t be pretty in the long run. Which probably isn’t good for the channel.

Mike Lemon

Is that question rhetorical?

Richard Maurer

The only thing wrong is we’re not supposed to be talking politics here. But some people can’t resist, whether blatantly or implied.

John A

It's my favorite Deniro movie too

Larry Darrell

Exactly! One Battle After Another though is a film that will be almost an impossibility to not get into politics. CURRENT POLITICS. I don’t know if Cassie is aware of that or not. Which is why I made the initial post.

Above Average Dave

I absolutely love GET SHORTY. Farina plays the made mobster perfectly, and his self-effacing humor shows he was an especially good sport. Btw, for a non-trained actor, he had range. See BOTTLE SHOCK or the ill-fated 2-season series CRIME STORY, by Michael Mann.

The Fly

I've watched some Shandor and he's a stalwart reactor—only gets 3-figure views but has kept grinding for years

Above Average Dave

Cassie and many here may have a rough ride with the frequent overt racism of Nick Nolte's character in 48 HOURS. He uses a certain world...often. Also, what's lost in context was that California city cops at the time, esp. in SF and LA, were acknowledged as bullies and often operating at the very edge of the law, if not sailing right past it. 48 HOURS was the movie, however, that made Eddie Murphy a movie star.

Mike Lemon

@Larry - "Does one political leaning have more acceptance here than another?" - That one.

Above Average Dave

MIDNIGHT RUN is largely a testament to the casting and the great work every actor does from the main characters right down to the two mob mugs. It was a pretty ordinary plot but everyone in it was bought in and made it work, even Robert DeNiro who toned down his usual ROBERT DE NIRO!! performance to be vulnerable and a lot less in your face. I also predict Cassie will love, love, love the Charles Grodin character.

Larry Darrell

Discussing “woke” elements in new films is just the nature of modern filmmaking now. I hate it too. I so deeply wish to be able to reset my mind back 20 years ago, when I had trust in Hollywood that they were making films the best way possible, that they were telling the story in the best possible way, and not changing things here and there because they want to please a certain group of people and writing with DEI practices in mind. But my eyes have been opened and they can’t be shut. I hate it. If you’re still enjoying new films and don’t see any difference, then don’t let me or anyone else try and change it. Just enjoy. As far as Fantastic Four goes, I did not make any initial post and had no intention of making any comment, but something was said that set me off. Sorry. Like you said, some people can’t resist. I tried, but didn’t succeed.

Bill W

Yes, and he does a lot of good films other channels won't touch.

Larry Darrell

@Mike - No that could be a legit question if someone wanted to answer. But I’m sure the higher ups would prefer it be left rhetorical.

Gray

It's getting worse recently seems a certain few who can't help themselves and always bring politics into the comments. I liked it before when it was all about enjoying the films/tv being reacted to and less negativitiy. I always thought this place was suppose to be a seperate corner away from the many other places on the net your free to talk politics.

Milton Reduxed

Wokeness isn't politcal per se. It's a prevailing blanket of social engineering over politics, culture, religion and commerce

Larry Darrell

You know, I’ll finally say it. I never thought Midnight Run was that funny or “Classic” worthy. I’ve seen it a couple a times, and both times were not very memorable. It’s been a while now, and I’ve been wondering if I missed something somehow. And Rush Hour is the least exciting of the week for me. It’s been a while since I saw a Chris Tucker film, and my memory of him hasn’t aged well. His role in Fifth Element keeps hogging my memory of him, which I know isn’t indicative of his whole work. I lied, I watched Money Talks (1997) in recent years. I did like that. But I like Charlie Sheen though. Anyhoo, I’ll quit commenting now Richard. ;-)

Mark Vaderr

I still have not seen this movie. Does it have a "woke" theme in it?

Larry Darrell

Yeah, you can’t escape it, especially in films, even more especially in modern films and anything having to do with Hollywood. Just watch the Golden Globes from last night. These are the people making films today. Hollywood is not for entertainment anymore, it’s a Platform to preach to the people now. Films, social media, the actual media. It’s gonna keep coming up with new films… even the ones that aren’t Platform films, like Top Gun: Maverick or F1. Someone is going to find something either positive or negative to say about Current Real World Issues on any new film. You either just got to expect it, or only watch films, Pre-2015.

Mark Vaderr

I haven't watched the Golden Globes or the Oscars for a few years now. Although I do try to stay informed on what is being nominated. Unfortunate, because I used to love these awards shows, they were fun. Now they are used so actors can shove their political ideology down our throats. Also, it feels like its more about awarding movies with messages, instead of awarding movies that have artistic merit. The Globes were at their best when Ricky Gervais was the host, he was hilarious. How I wish he had gotten a chance to host the Oscars, who haven't had a good host since Billy Crystal.

Larry Darrell

I miss Billy Crystal too. Wish he was around more.

Becky Mitchell

Lifelong Steelers fan here. I was born one year after Chuck Noll became the head coach. It is a testament to the owners, team and fans that there have only been three head coaches in the last 55 years! I will miss Tomlin. But, I never imagined that I could love a coach as much as Noll.... and then felt the same way about Bill Cowher. So I'm sad to see Tomlin go, but excited for whoever is next.

Larry Darrell

@Mark - No, Fantastic Four is not a “Woke” movie. There were a few minor things I, and others couldn’t help noticing, given earlier comment I made. When you lose trust in the people making the film, it’s hard to give them the benefit of doubt sometimes. Richard disagrees and doesn’t see anything “woke” in the film. Given his other comments, I’m pretty sure he would highly recommend The Fantastic Four (2025). The choice is yours. :-)

Carol_White

I like theme weeks. That is all.

Carol_White

Yeah, but Nolte has an arc. He becomes a better person. That's the core of this very '80s movie.

Stick Figure Studios

@Above Average Dave: The casting is indeed perfect (and consequently the performances are fantastic), but don't sell the other elements short. Breat may not be an auteur, but he is an extremely capable journeyman director who, when working with an intelligent script, and capable crew (from the DP to the editor to the costume department, etc), you get a genre film at the top of the heap. Elfman'a unique music score is also really frigging cool.

Stick Figure Studios

@Larry: RUSH HOUR is a pretty standard 90s buddy-action comedy elevated by the charisma of Chan and his spectacular stuntwork/physical comedy, but Tucker is kind of annoying and Brett Ratner's direction is adequate at best MIDNIGHT RUN, however, is top shelf genre filmmaking in every category. It's long been a favorite of mine and was one of the five picks I submitted when I won trivia night. Besides being funny, it's also exciting and surprisingly emotional. Martin Brest may not be an auteur, but he's an extremely capable journeyman director and working with an intelligent script and perfect cast (and catchy music score by Danny Elfman), he made one of the best buddy action-comedies of the 80s. I've seen it dozens of times and I am always impressed on each viewing with how superbly it's constructed. Like BACK TO THE FUTURE or THE KARATE KID, the movie works like a swiss watch. I can't wait for Cassie to see it. I'm confident she will enjoy it.

Stick Figure Studios

That's what I was gonna say, Carol. Nolte is petty unlikeable for much of the film, but his character growth makes it a bit easier to take.

Mojo One Thousand

This is going to be bit of fun. Looking forward to "Midnight run" and "The Nice Guys", with latter being something I was interesting in when I joined, only to be a bit disappointed it was marked as seen. I had made my peace with it, but glad it was back on the table when the error was discovered. "Rush Hour" I haven't really been inclined to rewatch compared to the other two, with "The Nice Guys" being very rewatchable to me. With the amount of movies still around that fit this theme, it could almost be a quarterly thing.

Richard Maurer

Mark -absolutely not. But that doesn’t stop them from saying it does.

Mark White

Thanks Cassie ❤️

Stick Figure Studios

RUSH HOUR is definitely the weakest of these three, but still pretty fun. NICE GUYS and MIDNIGHT RUN, though, are both teriffic (with the latter being one of my favorites).

SeanATX

Extremely tiresome. If your comment has anything to do with politics, in movies, award shows or wherever, just don’t hit post. There’s plenty of places elsewhere to get those discussions

Mike Redford

That would be my only concern with her seeing 48 hrs. The dialogue is definitely more edgy and raw than most of the genre that she's seen. That said, very fun and personally my 2nd fav of eddie's work behind BHC 1. I'd be fascinated with a react

Milton Reduxed

Yeah Rush Hour is OK but not in my top 10 buddy-cop movies

Bill W

After the City Slickers reaction I think Cassie should watch all his opening Oscar monologues. (not for a reaction...just for herself.) They were amazing.

Bill W

Grodin is great at being miserable. 🤣

Larry Darrell

I am looking forward to watching Midnight Run. Every person involved I like. I was probably not in the right mood or something both times before. It’s happened. The first time I saw Halloween (1978), I didn’t understand it, and compared to other slasher films, I thought it wasn’t scary at all. I even traded in by Blu-ray at a Movie Stop (back when I stupidly did such sacrilegious things… Praise Physical Media). Then years later I tried it again, and was blown away by what Carpenter was doing. It’s now one of my most favorite horror films. And for Martin Brest, seeing Meet Joe Black for the second time when Cassie reacted, I loved it way more than the first time. Definitely looking forward to it.

Stephen Last

I've been a fan of Noah Wyle's since the pilot of ER. Did you see him and George Clooney embrace on his way to accept best Drama?

Astraeos

I would just seriously learn to block people. Once you block a few key people, these comments become very readable; You don't see a single thing they post. Normally I'm not for that sort of thing, but we can't argue with them or refute them here in these comments so it's just better to pretend they don't exist at all.

Astraeos

I really love when evil people just show their true selves freely. Blocked.

Richard Maurer

The term woke has become meaningless, if it ever had any real meaning other than original meaning - to be aware. But when nearly every movie, series, book, etcetera is labeled woke, often when only a trailer exists, sometimes even before that, the term woke has become laughable and should be ignored. It’s not like “woke” is even something new. The Marvel and DC comics I read in the 70’s through the 90’s would be considered woke today, as would most of the popular movies and series of that time. But people will tell you that Sarah Conner and Ripley from Aliens weren’t woke, because “reasons”. If I never hear someone cry about something being woke again it will still be too soon.

Astraeos

Considering how the comment section on this Patreon is basically Fox News anymore, I'd say watching that movie would be a complete and utter disaster for the channel. Fantastic movie, but it doesn't seem to, at all, be the audience that this channel has garnered.

Richard Maurer

Astraeos - I hear what you’re saying but I’ve always had a personal ‘No Blocking’ policy, that I’d feel weird about changing at this point. I’ll listen to anyone’s point of view, but if I disagree they’re definitely going to know it.

Richard Maurer

I will like a theme week when the word ‘monster’ is attached to it.

Richard Maurer

Larry - I don’t mind your comments, when you agree with me ;-)

Sean

The Nice Guys !!! Let's go

Sean

Nothing is wrong with Deniro. He has morals and values and he is speaking on them. That's not political. That's human decency.

Land of the free and free speech. They are humans in this world and this country and they have the right to use their platform and speak their mind.

The part in your post about Ripley is spot on. Can you imagine the poopstorm that would erupt over Ripley in Aliens if it was released now? It would be the ultimate Mary Sue Woke film. At every point in the movie, Ripley, a blue collar 50 years displaced out-of-time cat lady, is 1000% smarter than all the men and repeatedly has to save them. She's the one who notices that they can't fire explosive rounds under the reactor, she's the one who takes action when the incompetent man officer freezes, she's the one every one turns to for leadership. She figures out Burke's plan. She learns in 10 minutes how to be a better marine than everyone else. And she does it all while sporting an unflattering hairstyle in a baggy jumpsuit without make-up. If Aliens came out today there'd be 100 videos on YouTube with a million views each attacking the movie as woke feminist anti-capitalist garbage and everybody knows it I try to leave political or cultural grandstanding out of the comments because I don't think that's what Cassie wants her comment sections to be about. I could be in every Mel Gibson comment section trashing him but I haven't. Cassie enjoys his movies for what they are and I won't try to spoil that by parachuting in with moral outrage. I haven't read those comment section for his movies and hopefully the movies were discussed for being what they are and not Gibson's publicly known issues with certain groups. I haven't even trashed him (until now that is) for my biggest problem with him, how he butchered the true story of Desmond Doss in Hacksaw Ridge resulting in one of the biggest film disappointments of my life. Anyone who has seen The Conscientious Objector documentary knows just what kind of movie it could have been. Still angry at how Gibson screwed it all up, I was looking forward to that movie so much and thought he'd knock it out of the park ! The only time I try to interject anything in a comment section that could be considered cultural is to follow Cassie's own rules for instance on pick-a-flick choices or poll choices on things she explicitly warns that she doesn't want to watch. So without going into spoilers I might try to hint that certain movies like Doctor Sleep should be considered problematic by those guidelines. If she ever decides she doesn't want to watch movies or tv with certain cultural elements I'm sure she'll let everyone know. For myself, I won't watch Fantastic Four for other reasons. I haven't bothered watching almost any new superhero movie after Avengers Endgame because I'm just tired of the genre. In the 20th century, superhero movies and tv with exceptions like Superman and Batman and the Hulk were treated like garbage. Comic fans had to make do with comic-analogs like Condorman, Doctor Mordred, Misfits of Science, Darkman, Meteor Man, MANTIS, Auto-Man, Manimal, etc .... But in this century comics characters are just overexposed and it's tiresome to me. I'm not going to rain on anyone's parade though, I don't mind waiting for a movie I do like.

Bill W

If somehow Kiss meets the Phantom of the Park (1978) wins a poll, I'm setting Patreon on fire.

Happy Hanukkah

"All Gene Simmons all the time" Being very pro-family, I insist that half the movies be Mrs. Simmons ones.

Happy Hanukkah

It is January 2026, and I hereby advocate for *that* version of The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996). [#013] Dedicated to Richard Maurer.

Richard Maurer

keoma songs - your feeling about Cassie not wanting political comments is spot on as there’s literally a rule against political or religious commentary stated in the FAQ post that’s pinned to the top, but many people either don’t read or don’t care because people still try to post both political and, to a lesser extent, religious comments. And her reason for doing so is that such comments lead to invariably to arguments, and her reasoning is obviously correct.

Richard Maurer

Monsters - as in monsters - frightening, theoretically imaginary creatures.

"if it ever had any real meaning " Here you go- Woke - To be socially progressive to the extreme, especially in public; performative progressive activism. - Brames-TFK "But when nearly every movie, series, book, etcetera is labeled woke, often when only a trailer exists," That doesn't really happen. "The Marvel and DC comics I read in the 70’s through the 90’s would be considered woke today," No they wouldn't. "as would most of the popular movies and series of that time. " Again, no. Are you going under the assumption that "other side" people think, "woke" = diversity? If you are, let me tell you what "the other side" thinks (1). Diversity is fine, if it is natural, if it is forced it becomes a problem, and when the "diversity" becomes the identity, that is a huge problem. To add to that I'll include my take, "You can bend reality, you can't break it." For an example, let's look at Romeo + Juliet (1996). They took the classic story and set it in modern California- Mercutio was a black guy and Tybalt was an hispanic (a "race" that barely existed when the story was written)- nobody cares. Now if the story was set in 600 A.D. Iceland, it would a problem. To take on your Sarah Conner assertions, no, she isn't. It is because, again, it was natural and within reality. First movie, she is dragged along by Kyle, she didn't really fight, she was the "support player" and she "won" by pressing a button. T2 was, what, 13 years later? She had time to train, to get stronger, but how did she fight? She sneak attacked people with a broken mop, she distracted people with keys, she used guns- all within a believable realm. She was a bad-ass because she was a well written, multi-dimensional character who fought within believable limits, and fought for her kid. She wasn't a bad-ass because she is the best at everything, she is always right, or any of the other "Mary Sue" problems, or the constant, "She's a woman! Did you notice she's a woman?," of recent writing. Ripley was the same way. (1) - generality- there are always nutters out there.

Happy Hanukkah

Congratulations to Tanner. "The Assassination of Jesse James"?! Jesse James was assassinated?!?! Oh no!!! If it's not too much of a spoiler, could someone tell me who did the deed? "Welcome to Buddy Cop Week" Noticeable by its absence: Bon Cop Bad Cop (2006), a Two Solitudes version of the Wunza formula. What with your complaining about the cold, I will start doubting whether you truly are Canadian. And if we already started in the direction of French, there's the French classic Les Ripoux (1984).

Richard Maurer

And your review of Halloween is spot on - one of the greatest horror films of all time, and that’s saying a lot.

Larry Darrell

Hey, families gonna piss each other off sometimes. ;-)

Wow this was liked by PIB. Yikes thats concerning.

Andrew Harrison

You saw KPop Demon Hunters, too—it took home well-deserved Globes for Best Song and Best Animated Film!

Richard Maurer

HH - If you really wanted to dedicate something to me you would be advocating for Horror of Dracula, or Shin Godzilla, or It Follows. As it stands, dedicating “that” version of Dr. Moreau to me feels more like a aggression than a dedication.

Mike Lemon

@Richard- You have already said you don't listen to YouTube critics so why do you keep trying to disparage them and say what they think? Also, just a heads up, on Friday Night Tights (Nerdrotic) and Open Bar (Drinker), most everybody liked Fantastic Four.

Midnight Run is definitely a Hidden Gem category movie.

keoma songs

It should be a candidate if she ever does a 'mustache week'.

ArtVandalHey!

Good tip. Just blocked all the people whining about woke.

Sean

The greatest movies ever made have messages. The difference is in the past people weren't brainwashed to be outraged by that.

Byrd N. Hand

It's been ages since I've seen it, but "Midnight Run" isn't actually a buddy cop movie, is it? I mean, De Niro is a bounty hunter and Grodin is the fugitive he's bringing in. No cops between them at all. 🤷‍♂️

Sean

Since the creation of film / movies they have had social commentary. This is nothing new. The new part is the outrage culture being pushed on people to start viewing everything in a way to make them upset.

Byrd N. Hand

I like it, but I definitely don't consider it among Paul Thomas Anderson's best, as a lot of others seem to think. "Boogie Nights," "Magnolia," "Punch-Drunk Love," "There Will Be Blood," "The Master," and "Phantom Thread" (at the very least) are all still superior, IMO.

Byrd N. Hand

I definitely don't agree with The Critical Drinker's and Nerdrotic's politics, but I *do* agree with them about how much Hollywood has gone to shit over the last decade or so.

Richard Maurer

Mike - I see you left off the “to be aware” part of my explanation of the true definition of woke. The definition you gave is the one I referred to as “ laughable and to be ignored”. I read many, many Marvel and DC comics. And most of them would fall under the fake definition of woke were they written today. The X-Men weren’t “woke”? Sure. Same goes for movies and TV series. And I’m definitely going by your definition of woke. Remember I don’t believe “woke” as it stands now is a real thing. It now basically means “whatever makes me feel uncomfortable” there’s was a time in the past when people referred to Rey from the sequel trilogy as a Mary Sue and things of that nature, and I could at least see a possibly of valid criticism there, but they lost me early along the line as things have progressed to the point where the various YouTube “critics” started labeling everything woke before it was even released except for a trailer, and sometimes even before that. And that’s if they even bother to ever watch the things they’re criticizing, which judging from some of the comments they make, I’d say it’s far more common that they don’t. It’s fine not to like something for whatever reason, and I’ve never heard anyone seriously say otherwise. But slapping the silly “woke” label on anything and everything without even watching it is becoming the new ‘boy who cried wolf’. There were 3 really good major superhero films last year, all were labeled woke before they even came out, some “critics” even had to change their tune after they came out, like they did with Guardians of the Galaxy 3 when it turned out people actually liked it. I don’t even believe most of people who talk about films that are bad or “woke” have actually watched the films they are complaining about. How else do you explain how The Marvels, a huge flop at the box office generated so many negative reviews? If all the people who claimed it was bad had actually gone to the theater and saw it, it would have at least broke even, if not made money. And I don’t care what anyone says - if you never watched the film you can’t review it , not without being a liar anyway.

keoma songs

Love Midnight Run. A few people maybe aren't as impressed by it, but I think why it is so well remembered is the tightrope it walks between action, comedy, thriller, adventure in a road movie. It's hard to nail, and casting pretty much has to be perfect. The same director did Gigli, and that's a movie that went wrong everywhere Midnight Run went right. Heck, I think Midnight Run is the fourth Martin Brest directed movie on the channel. Beverly Hills Cop, Meet Joe Black, Scent of a Woman. He must rank pretty high after Spielberg on the react list. Midnight Run also had a tv show/movies follow up that was fairly unsuccessful. It starred Chris McDonald, aka Shooter from Happy Gilmore in the DeNiro role. I watched them back then but it just couldn't pull off the same feel as the movie.

Richard Maurer

Larry - I was never pissed off. But If I have a serious disagreement with something someone says I’m going to let them know, while never getting angry about it. And I can agree completely with that person on another post in the same comments section, happens fairly often in fact. The only time people here even mildly annoy me is when they’re being disingenuous, trolling, talking crap just trying to get attention - however you want to label it. But someone giving their honest opinion, even if I completely disagree with it, never angers me.

Black_TYGR

Is it me or does Cassie and Nikki G sound alike? idk..I thought my YT channel accident popped up during the globes and pib started running 😉

Richard Maurer

You can always count on John A for a thoughtful, reasonable response.

Richard Maurer

Mike, I hear enough of their opinions listening to people like the Birdman dismantling their various film “criticisms” . Now that’s entertainment.

Richard Maurer

I would say that film is particularly bad. Monstrous would be the act of trying to get some unsuspecting person to watch it ;-)

Larry Darrell

@Byrd - Cops, Private Detectives, Bounty Hunters… all in the same family basically. Hell, throw in Firefighters too.

Andrew Boyd

Hello Cassie, I love your videos and you have one of the most genuine personalities on Youtube and you avoid "algorithm-based" videos just to grab our attention. Everytime I see your thumbnails, I think "Yes, she's finally seen it" or "Darn, she beat me to it." To be honest, I thought you already watched Game of Thrones or I was gonna beat you to it.

Andrew Boyd

If I were to recommend a show or movie to you I would recommend the following. For a show, watch Psych (2006-2014), ultimate show for millennials who grew up/understand 80's and 90's references with fantastic comedic character dynamics. For movies, I would Recommend Sidekicks. Sidekicks is the ultimate Karate Kid parody, which I saw years before my dad showed me karate kid.

Gray

not wrong Astraeos, not even a slap on the wrist from the mods for those constantly baiting with political comments. So i'd imagine the discussion for the film will be mental.

Happy Hanukkah

But surely Cassie would love it! She enjoyed Wonder Woman and the Harry Potter movies, so surely she would adore this David Thewlis vehicle!!!

Happy Hanukkah

By her, yes. Adopting African orphans is passé, and trans adoptees is so last year! The new hotness among Hollywood celebrities is adopting men in their nineties! (At least we can tell them when our diapers need changing.)

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, I truly don't understand how anyone could not be impressed by MIDNIGHT RUN. It's excellent. I daresay it's perfect. It really could not be improved upon in any way. I can only guess those who think it's anything less than very good (say, average/mediocre to bad) either simply haven't seen it in a long time or just don't like that genre.

VOCFM

edit to the edit - It's already been selected twice on that monthly list and has 2 submits. If we can get a bit more we can get the odds even more in our favour. Everyone would thank us after in the comments so our tactics will be justified. - 1.43% chance to get it picked at 2, we can get that higher if we have 1-2 more requests hahaha - edit --- Everyone that has championed Kimi no Na wa - Your Name in the past go to https://beta.popcorninbed.com/paf and add this movie as your response and just dont ever stop monthly lol. Stick Figure Studios

@Byrd: Technically you are correct. It's a buddy action-comedy, but neither* of them are cops** Still, I'm not complaining because it's as movie for which I've been advocating for a long time. *At least not at the time the story takes place. **Technically neither is THE NICE GUYS, but like MIDNIGHT RUN it's so good that I don't care.

An actor as a citizen in a democracy should enunciate their thoughts and beliefs. You as a viewer can choose not to watch. Billy Crystal is a prominent supporter of the Democratic Party and has been an outspoken critic of Donald Trump. He has actively participated in political advertisements and events to advocate for Democratic candidates and policies. He has appeared in advertisements for the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA), encouraging people to vote for Democrats to protect what he considers basic freedoms like voting rights, healthcare, and social security. Crystal famously teamed up with the "Never Trump" conservative Bill Kristol for a series of ads in 2020 to encourage Jewish Americans to vote for Joe Biden for president, emphasizing their shared belief that Biden was the better candidate. They renewed this partnership for the 2022 midterm elections. Billy Crystal has used his platform in shows and interviews, including appearances on The View and Jimmy Kimmel Live!, to criticize Donald Trump and encourage people to vote. Outside of direct party politics, Crystal has been involved in humanitarian causes, such as co-hosting Comic Relief for many years to raise money for people experiencing homelessness in the United States.

keoma songs

Exactly, the more I think about it the more impressed I am by the execution. If it was made a little funnier, it risks becoming too broad and people don't buy the stakes. Make it a little more violent with some deaths, it becomes too serious and it's harder to enjoy the levity for a big chunk of the audience. Dennis Farina is funny. Make him more funny, he becomes a joke. Make him more serious, he becomes a bore and his scenes drag on. And if course rewatchable and quotable.

Chris Thom

Psych was the one with Tony Schalub?

Bill W

No that was Monk. Psych was the other one with James Roday and Dule Hill.

My_Cousin_Mose

I did not catch the golden globes. I believe I was taking a nap at that time and I couldn't be happier with my decision. And I don't think those 2 movies you mentioned are worth watching on the channel. To be fair I haven't seen them yet but I'd prefer we focus back to the original purpose of the channel.

Clarence Newman

That one has been championed before. That's unusual for a non-Jackie Chan foreign film, so it must be a good'un.

Clarence Newman

I like Gene Simmons. She was good in the Star Trek episode "The Drumhead". As for a good theme week, Richard needs a "Movies Cassie routinely never watches" poll.

Clarence Newman

I've been a fan of Billy since Soap (1977-81). There's something very classy about the guy.

Clarence Newman

You're glowing right now, aren't you, John? Glowing! Cop Land? Hell yes. She would also like Daylight.

JB

Should definitely watch One Battle After Another on the channel.

Mike Lemon

Wow, you are really all over the place but, lets try to answer- "I see you left off the “to be aware” " Yes, because that isn't what is being discussed, and that definition hasn't been prominent for 15+ years. "And most of them would fall under the fake definition of woke were they written today. " No they wouldn't. "The X-Men weren’t “woke”? Sure." No. "And I’m definitely going by your definition of woke." You're going by what you *think* I said, seemingly because you *want* to disagree with a group you don't like. "Remember I don’t believe “woke” as it stands now is a real thing." And therein lies your problem. Would you like to discuss Rings of Power yet? We can talk about why you don't like it and why those creative decisions were made. "It now basically means “whatever makes me feel uncomfortable” " No. There are a few that do that, but for the most part, that isn't how it's used. " before it was even released except for a trailer, and sometimes even before that. " How dare someone make observations on production rumors and two minutes of video. That has never happened before in the history of movies... except that is the exact point of a trailer. "some “critics” even had to change their tune after they came out, " Changing your opinion after getting more information is a bad thing now??? "But slapping the silly “woke” label on anything and everything..." Agreed, that is why I corrected that one guy in the Game of Throne post just a couple days ago. But sometimes a wolf is there, and in recent Hollywood, a wolf is there a lot. Hell, they partially codified it with the Oscar(?) rules. "How else do you explain how The Marvels, a huge flop at the box office generated so many negative reviews?" Huge numbers. The Marvels had a domestic opening weekend of $47-million, so that means about 3 million people saw it. That is a lot of people that can write a review. And that isn't including the people that go sailing or live in other countries.

Clarence Newman

Al Pacino's performance in The Godfather was "efficient and ok"....until he came to the scene in the restaurant. Change "Al Pacino" and "restaurant" to "Charles Grodin" and "bar" and the same thing applies to Midnight Run. Cassie will love it.

Mike Lemon

I see... "racist and a sexist masquerading as a Christian conservative. I'm aware the vin [sic] diagram is nearly one big circle there," - TH3 Birdman, (40 seconds into the second video I clicked) I will offer a piece of advice, don't surround yourself with hate and ignorance, it will eventually consume you.

Clarence Newman

I've never been a fan of the Steelers (although I love the 70s dynasty team). That's because they were such a tough team to play, though, and a lot of that was down to Tomlin. I'm sure the Browns fans would kill for the foresight to land Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher and Mike Tomlin one after the other. How many head coaches are they on since 1969? 17?

Mark White

Talking of Pacino and performance, I wonder if Cassie will ever watch Scarface? Even though it’s a top 10 movie for me, I’ve kept clear of championing it through fear of Cassie not liking one of my all time fav’s. But Cassie has changed with her ability to cope with tuff scenes and darker stories. I think Cassie really appreciates a great performance now, even if the movie is not to her taste. I wonder how she would reflect on that Performance by Pacino?! I still remember the first time I saw Scarface round my mates. At the end of the movie, as the credits rolled I think I just sat there mouth open in astonishment!

Milton Reduxed

Kamala Harris told an audience that, "everybody needs to be woke" So clearly it had meaning to her

Chris Thom

A bit off topic. But did the top secret reaction with Kat ever happen? Starting to think it was only a myth, a legend passed down through months of the Reactoverse. I check her channel every other day and there still hasn't been any mention of it. And when I think of Kat I think of your shared 'muther fricker' moment in Weapons and I have to watch that part again. It's hilarious every single time.

Chris Thom

Literally think Pick a Flick is the only chance that movie has of being watched here. Or if Carly suddenly and randomly goes through an HG Wells phase.

Chris Thom

That one definitely has a hardcore fan base. I know zero about it, but it gets requested consistently and a ton by the same few people.

Chris Thom

Wait the Nice Guys is going to be a rewatch?

Chris Thom

That Blind Melon song really is a joy. And that damn music video with the bee girl makes me tear up every single freaking time. Peak 90's melancholy optimism.

Clarence Newman

Larry. I'm an expert at upsetting Richard. Watch this.... In my honest opinion, Halloween 2 is as good as the first one. (OK, where's my damn Kevlar??)

Sean

Great show. One of my all time favorites

Kawaii Leonard

Chris, it's the most beautiful animation I've ever seen. The story is stereotypical romance but the cinematography is *chef's kiss*

Chris Thom

I'd never heard of it before this channel. Is it something you saw at the theater? Or on cable? Or video store or something? The one guy looks like Charles Grodin on the poster. Can't see who the other is.

Richard Maurer

Mike - Wow that’s a lot. I’ll try to make it brief My definition is literally the main dictionary definition. Yes they would. Agree to disagree Yes. Agree to disagree I don’t agree because I don’t care about some made up “culture war” nonsense. Things change, people get older, and don’t like those changes, happens with every generation, the only reason this is worse than it was in the past we didn’t have the internet. Now people sit around reinforcing each other’s annoyances until it becomes anger, and other people can grift off that anger - most disingenuously, but some are true believers - but the common denominator with all of them is there’s money being made off it, and stoking that anger with dishonesty is a way to maintain profitability. I don’t like Rings of Power mainly because it’s poorly written and not Tolkien. Simple as that. If it was well written and followed Tolkien, as much as possible (PJ didn’t follow the books slavishly, yet still made great LotR films) I wouldn’t really care what their agenda was. You make the mistake in thinking I care if they’re trying to change people’s mind about societal issues. Something that has been happening since art itself became a thing. Just like I don’t care if these media “critics” are doing the same, it’s just that they’re so disingenuous about it. Yes. Agree to disagree. If you declare a film bad (or good) based on rumors and speculation, you’re not a real film critic and your opinion can’t be taken seriously, simple as that. Watch the movie, then criticize it. And try to be a little more nuanced than just declaring everything “woke”. And the point of a trailer is to get people interested in the film, no more, no less. If you’re not interested, don’t go. But judging the entire film based off of one is silly. A “critic” shouldn’t need to change their mind because they should have already seen the thing they’re talking about. See above. Those pitifully low numbers don’t account for the massive review bombing the film got. I actually saw the film in the theater (it wasn’t bad by any stretch of the imagination) I pretty much had the theater to myself. And judging by the box office I’d say most people had a similar experience. So where are those bad reviews coming from? They come from people with an agenda who lie about seeing things. Every review website should require proof that you saw the movie before you can leave a review, otherwise you can’t trust their reviews. So much for “trying to make it brief”. I thought about just going with agree to disagree for everything because I doubt either of us are going change the other’s mind and it’s starting to get tedious. But there were a couple of things that I needed to clarify my position on.

Richard Maurer

I’d say Cassie probably pushed it back due to a combination of lack of time and family illness’s. Hopefully we’ll see it happen eventually.

Richard Maurer

If it were on a poll I doubt even Happy Hanukkah would vote for it.

Chris Thom

Never saw Rush Hour. Do remember kids constantly doing a Chris Tucker impression. "Do you unddastand the woords comin' outta my mouuthh." And that's about it. Assuming Jackie Chann does most of the fighting.

Richard Maurer

Clarence - when this channel began your theme week would have covered most movies ever made. I just keep trying to “expand her horizons” while most of you keep trying to hold her back.

Richard Maurer

We’re getting into that political territory again. And getting to the point where we start having mods get involved.

Clarence Newman

How could she not enjoy Pacino's performance in Scarface? It would take her 20 minutes or so to adjust to the constant F-bombs, but once she gets her head around that, she'll be fine.

Clarence Newman

Well, that's true. I do like everything and its brother.

Chris Thom

Thought she said it was filmed already. I do know the movie was picked at least. Some Patrons here know what it is but won't say. Killin' me.

Chris Thom

Never saw that. But distinctly remember it being one of the first VHS covers I ever saw at the video store when I was three. Always holds a special place in my heart and I know absolutely nothing about it to this day.

Clarence Newman

Oooh, HG Wells. Time Machine better be on that poll.

Chris Thom

Feel like that doesn't happen nearly as often as people seem to think. Distinctly remember Michael Moore being shouted down for saying the Iraq invasion would be misguided and costly...something every major candidate has said since 2008.

Richard Maurer

Clarence - your silly comments only make me laugh. I mean how could I not laugh at the idea that Halloween 2 is even in the same league as Halloween ‘78?

Richard Maurer

Right back at you Mike. The difference is that to me it’s just entertainment, not an agenda to live by.

Mojo One Thousand

No, it's a first time watch... it has been marked incorrectly as seen.

Clarence Newman

Because it scared the bejazzus out of me and I'm a hardcore Cannonball Run fan.

Mike Lemon

@Richard- if it was only entertainment, you wouldn't be arguing against the "grifters" so much. Also, do you see how you ascribed motives ( "agenda to live by" ) to others without evidence? You're a nice guy, I like having discussions here with you, but on this, you have a giant blind spot based on hearsay and I think we should both be ending this one here (for now).

Nolofinwe

I dare you to go on YouTube and watch every one of DiNiros rants he's a regular rhoades scholar every single one vulgar and hateful beyond measure folder they make absolutely no sense either with his use of the English language no political charges just expressing hatred personal and please don't give me any bullshit things about pedophile rapist none of which are true none it's been in the public guy for 50 years never until he ran for president does anybody ever say anything like that

Richard Maurer

For those into classic horror movies - You,Me & The Movies reaction channel has announced they’re premiering The Fly (1958) on YouTube- 1/14/26 at 3pm.

Just Plain Bob

They filmed it weeks ago. Not sure why Kat hasn’t released it yet.

Larry Darrell

Hey Clarence… last month, in a reply, I “rickrolled” Richard with lyrics from the Cannonball Run theme. :-) I don’t think he noticed. You could say he got Cannonballed ;-)

JPDotCom23

Yes, I saw it in the theatres at the time, I became a big Robert DeNiro a few years before this, when I saw him in 'Once Upon a Time in America', then in 'The Godfather, Part II', wanted to see this when it came out. It's also the first movie director Martin Brest did after 'Beverly Hills Cop'. And yes, that is Charles Grodin. You're going to love this "buddy" cop movie.

Richard Maurer

Didn’t know they filmed it already.

Richard Maurer

Chris - I know, and I’m not saying. I’ll give a you a clue - someone mentioned the film in this comments section.

Richard Maurer

Larry - I fortunately have scrubbed the Cannonball Run theme from my brain, part of a natural defense I have against insanity.

Richard Maurer

Clarence - your Cannonball Run fandom definitely explains a lot about you liking Halloween 2. In fact, it explains a lot about you in general.

Just Plain Bob

Kat mentioned having filmed it during her most recent live and I believe that Cassie made a passing reference to the death toll in the movie during her most recent pick a flick drawing. Very interesting choice for the two of them to react to. I really enjoyed their collab in Weapons and hope there are more in the future. Their different reactions to the same things make a very interesting contrast.

Clarence Newman

Agreed. It's the reason I am held in the highest of esteems.

Just Plain Bob

Love my 50s sci fi/horror. Unfortunately I find their channel insufferable. He tries too hard to be a character and watching her is like how I’d imagine it would be to watch a corpse react.

K, Zachary

Get this Tomlin was highered 3 months before the 1st iPhone came out. 🤯

Richard Maurer

I mostly have been commenting on this because, frankly, the comment section has been really boring for the last couple of months. At least this livens it up a bit. I honestly don’t spend a lot of time on thinking about the whole “woke” thing because I don’t need to - it’s not that complex. As for a supposed blind spot I have? All I can say is do you own a mirror? But as you said - agree to disagree.

Joe J

I like the wife, she reacts in a normal way, not performative. The husband for the most part doesn't really react much at all, lol. They do some oddball movies, which is refreshing.

Richard Maurer

Bob - they’re not favorites of mine either. But I will say two things in their favor. 1) they react to a lot of stuff that’s never going to get reacted to by anyone else, certainly not here. And 2) at least they have opinions and are animated, which is more than I can say for a lot of reactors these days (side note: so bored with female reactors who think being pretty is all you need to do a film reaction). I get that “ Mrs.Movies” can be a real drag when she’s not into a film and that causes her husband to be even more over the top than normal to compensate, but at this point in the reaction game I’m willing to put up with a lot just watch something that’s not been on dozens of channels already, let alone movies that no else will do.

Richard Maurer

I haven’t watched Kat’s live and missed a bit of Cassie’s PaF drawing as I was trying to listen while doing stuff around the house.

Joe J

Cassie's pretty...oh no.........LOL.

Richard Maurer

Clarence- In your brain I’m sure that’s true.

Richard Maurer

Cassie is also entertaining, the much more important part of the equation. Something the women I’m talking about don’t have.

John A

At this point anything would be better than the 46th Fantastic Four movie or some other copy/paste capeshit script

John A

You're the only one that has soul searching to do, but of course your ilk are the most close minded beings in the entire existence of the universe so I'm not holding my breath anyone as sensitive as you will ever be able to handle reality

Sean

People like and respect fire fighters. They run into the danger to save people.

Richard Maurer

What? Sorry, I was busy ignoring you.

Mike Lemon

Agreed on it being boring. Since about July 10th it seems.

Joe J

Cassie has always been genuine, that's the most important thing for me and most others I would assume. I've found most reactors are not...they are observational/performative.

Richard Maurer

Yes but a reactor can be genuine but still not entertaining, which is probably the saddest thing I’ve seen while watching reactions. Because they’re trying but they’re probably not going to last.

Joe J

Ya know Cassie, I wouldn't mind a dedicated 50s sci-fi week.

Joe J

I'll watch the collab, buy tbh Kat is not a reactor I follow. Collabs are tricky, I've not seen many I cared for....maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Uncle Phoenix

Please Pray for Amin and Anita, who stream from Iran, on Patreon as “Wadumin”. They haven’t posted in awhile, and I’m hoping that they are “OK”.

Joe J

Well, Cassie is going to watch Borat....so her standards are dropping fast (haha), I think Cannonball Run would be just fine. I mean we're not talking about Rhinestone...there are limits!

John A

I personally don't think Cassie sounds like nails on a chalkboard

John A

No movie is liked by everyone. They can skip that reaction if they want, that's their problem. I'm just pumped it's getting a reaction, didn't think it would

Richard Maurer

Or just Rhinestone- a bridge too far.

VOCFM

I wouldn't call it stereotypical - its a classic romance motif yes but it's so unique that it just barely fights that description. The music - animation - story - is 10/10. Especially after GoT I think Cassie would appreciate a good romantic crier, and I think Carly would also heavily enjoy it. Even IF it's stereotypical romance, that should just be a selling point for Cassie haha

VOCFM

I just watched it a few days ago and it's one of the best movies I've seen. My eyes were not dry

Clay F

Those 2 movies you mentioned are defintely worth watching on the channel. Fit perfectly with the original purpose of the channel.

Clay F

The original Star Trek was big time woke in having a black female officer on the bridge.

VOCFM

I don't know if its just the fan base not watching as much anime (theres a lot of dif people here, that probably isn't it) or Cassie not getting Spirited Away (it's strange after all) but there are a number of japanese movies she'd easily love. Your Name. , I want to eat your Pancreas (I know the name throws you off, but it's a face and eye sweller start to finish) , Silent Voice (havent watched that one yet but I know ill love it the same)

Milton Reduxed

The original channel mission was to catch up on the great films most people have seen but Cassie missed, like Howard the Duck

Mike Lemon

@Clay- Like I told Richard, "diversity" =/= "woke".

Just Plain Bob

Mark, you may be pleasantly surprised very soon.

Kawaii Leonard

There is a twist, yes. I'm not really fan of romance so it wasn't my main draw. 😆

bgb1975 (Brian)

The 5th annual poppies might coincide with 500k subs on YT.

Clay F

The purpose of the channel was for Cassie to react to content (movies and TV series) she hasn't seen and in the process for her to expand her horizon. The 2020s have truly been a renaissance in great content released for her to react to.

Richard Maurer

Diversity became woke, for some anyway.

Clarence Newman

"I'm not your friend, Palooka." "What?" "You heard me, Punchy."

Clarence Newman

I concur, but ONLY if you stretch it to include 1960 - the year of the greatest sci-fi movie in the history of Victorian era time-travel sci-fi movies

Clarence Newman

Ohhhh, Rhinestone. Thank you Joe, I'd forgotten about that one!

Happy Hanukkah

One tick under the line, Sweet Jesus... 🎵

Clarence Newman

Larry and Sean. I believe we need a Towering Inferno reaction.

Happy Hanukkah

Kawaii, I still unironically recommend The Postman (1997). (Not that it's near the top of my list, but it's way ahead of Waterworld.)

bgb1975 (Brian)

I expect you and Richard to be on your best behavior, Clarence!

Clarence Newman

You'll have to talk to him. He's the nutcase.

Mike Lemon

Off topic- Wow. Just heard about Timothy Busfield. Never saw that one coming. Now we have to wait for the trial.

Clarence Newman

That picture's in my wallet! And for those who are unsure....I'm the handsome one.

Mike Lemon

The Postman is a good movie, but boy did it need some edits. Get that thing down to two hours.

Stick Figure Studios

I did hear that he turned himself in and claims he's innocent, so who knows?

Stick Figure Studios

@Clarence: Seriously, that scene with Grodin in the bar is possibly the best scene in a movie that is filled with great scenes. Grodin just owns it doing what he does best.

Stick Figure Studios

I've been pushing MIDNIGHT RUN for years so I'm very excited. Maybe I'll have some chorizo and eggs in celebration.

Stick Figure Studios

I am curious what you think of THE NICE GUYS. It's a bit crude, but very funny (from the same writer director of KISS KISS BANG BANG).

Stick Figure Studios

I wish I'd seen it in the theaters. Despite him being a highly acclaimed and award-winning actor, Robert De Niro was never really a box office star. MIDNIGHT RUN changed that. He does his usual fine work, but he is also remarkably nimble in it. Serious of course, but also very funny and his chemistry with Charles Grodin is off the charts. Such a terrific movie.

Dan M

I’ll let you know once the full reaction is available to us and I watch it.

Milton Reduxed

It's the first month of 2026, and Terminator 2 is still PiBs most watched youtube edit with 1.6 million views So let's just go ahead now and put Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines on the schedule to coincide with Judgment Day, July 25th. Smashing 👍

Joe J

Cassie wins all the awards...really kills the tension, lol. Maybe a new catagory this year. - "Top 5 most annoying movies I had too watch in 2025". Sin City might just win, lol.

Richard Maurer

I won’t be there now, because of these comments.

Richard Maurer

Tell me, “friend”, when did Saruman the Wise abandon reason for madness?

Mike Lemon

Hot take- I like 3 better than 2.

Stick Figure Studios

I could get behind a viewing of that film as long as she also watches the documentary LOST SOUL: THE DOOMED JOURNEY OF RCUHARD STANLEY'S ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU. Knowing the offscreen drama almost makes the film itself tolerable... Almost.

Mike Lemon

I like the ending (especially *why* they ended up at Crystal Peak), the subtly in how Arnold played the character, and Claire Danes.

Richard Maurer

HH - obviously you don’t know me at all. I would be dressed like Christopher Lee’s version of Dracula, if I were to attend, which I wouldn’t.

Richard Maurer

HH - Sing along! “Our house, in the middle of our street” “Our house, causes major traffic jams”

Chris Thom

James Cameron does it again. Thirty plus years later.

Chris Thom

He looks so familiar but I can't place him.

My_Cousin_Mose

I never really liked T3 but I agree with Mike it has a really good ending. As far as I'm concerned it's the end of the series.

Kawaii Leonard

I just went to check, just for curiosity sake. She's only 533 subs away from 500K. I'd give it 2-3 more days.

Happy Hanukkah

Happy Hanukkah singing out loud, now *that* would be monstrous! :-)

justin swan

Would you DARE watch Project X ? :)

Larry Darrell

I do need a Towering Inferno (1974) Reaction. I think this is the year. 52 years since its release. What does Google say about the number 52? Chinese Culture: #52 Symbolizes love and harmonious relationships. Maya Culture: Reaching 52 years old signifies wisdom. Angel Number 52: A message of being in the right place, alignment, and trusting your path. Biblical Context: #52 Appears in books like Nehemiah, representing transformation (2² x 13). These are all good things. A good sign for 1974 films. The Towering Inferno Murder on the Orient Express Chinatown The Conversation The Sugarland Express Thunderbolt and Lightfoot The Taking of Pelham One Two Three The Longest Yard Lenny The Parallax View An incredibly overlooked year for this channel.

Richard Maurer

The Towering Inferno - starring OJ Simpson!

Vincent Vega

Matt Damon is incredible. You should watch the Bourne films! Or Good Will Hunting with Affleck and Robin Williams

Larry Darrell

+1 for The Postman (1997). Love that movie.

Larry Darrell

The only place where you’ll find OJ Simpson believably and rightly barking orders at Paul Newman, because OJ is the only one not breaking.

Gray

She's mentioned the Bourne films might be rewatched sometime in the future.

Clay F

My No. 1 request for a Cassie rewatch/Carly first watch reaction is Good Will Hunting (1997). I love the Bourne trilogy. Cassie has seen all 3. (Not sure about Carly.) I would welcome a rewatch reaction of at least the first -- The Bourne Identity (2002). Cassie has said she would like to do a rewatch reaction of Moneyball (2011) which she doesn't remember -- I would very much welcome that. The Cassie rewatch/Carly first watch reaction to Forrest Gump was such a success.

Mike Lemon

Field of Dreams, the brother-in-law.

Mike Lemon

"Some" think the moon is made out of cheese, they're wrong. I even included a note about it in my original(?) reply - " (1) - generality- there are always nutters out there." - but some want to ignore that because they really *want* to think the entire "other side" is the caricature they have built up in their head.

Rene G.

yeah she already mentioned it in her pick a flick stream saying the movie's long and it has a famous line in it.

Rene G.

nah. that movie was pure crap. Doesn't even deserve a golden globe. THe actress winning it only had 15 mins screentime.

My_Cousin_Mose

The one with Matthew Broderick and the chimpanzee?

Clarence Newman

She could start with the prequel - Project A with Jackie Chan.

Clarence Newman

Yep, Count Drac would be Richard's outfit, Hap. Like Seth Brundle in The Fly, he's got six identical ones hanging in his closet.

Clarence Newman

+1 for Thunderbolt and Lightfoot and The Longest Yard. I would also add Freebie and the Bean.

Richard Maurer

My original question, wondering how much longer we can keep politics out of here., has become somewhat ironic at this point. It’s a shame really.

John A

Why would you make her watch such a trash movie? Terrible writing, terrible directing, terrible casting, terrible acting all around

Milton Reduxed

@ Mike, yeah Claire Danes is great. It's just a shame they miscast John Connor so badly

Nizate

You’re gonna love midnight run

Byrd N. Hand

I don't think Nick Stahl was that bad as John. I mean, Edward Furlong was often annoying in T2. 🤷‍♂️

Byrd N. Hand

Not really that surprising; I remember back in the early '90s when he was in the movie "Little Big League" (filmed here in the Twin Cities) and sexual harrassment accusations arose against him shortly before its release. I wasn't aware he was married to Melissa Gilbert.

Vincent Vega

Ah ok, didn't realise she's seen them. Has she seen the final one, Jason Bourne (2016)? I'm not so interested in re-watches but I'd enjoy a reaction to that if she's never seen it

Joe J

We'll see more re-watches this year of very popular films. This is a business decision Cassie feels is necessary for higher YT engagement. The reactions are non-genuine but the YT audience doesn't care in the least.

Milton Reduxed

Stahl was way too stiff, and I never believed him as John Connor for a second

Vincent Vega

Not that I speak for the whole YT audience but I care and I won't be watching any re-watches. I don't think there's any need when there's so many absolute classics that she hasn't seen (Thelma & Louise for example) .

Stick Figure Studios

I grew up watching that movie. I thought RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES owed a lot to it.

John A

Watching someone watch a movie for the first time for their reaction is one thing, a rewatch is just watching someone watch a movie, which is beyond bizarre to me. But to each their own I guess

Stick Figure Studios

The ending of T3 is really the only thing that I remember. The rest of it as I recall was a pale imitation of T2. I did like TERMINATOR SALVATION though.

Sean

What about Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season?

Gray

Australia Day is not far off and there has normally been a movie, any idea if that's still the case and what film would it be? Gallipoli was spoken about.

Vincent Vega

Even I haven't seen that. Didn't even know there was a sequel 🤷🏾‍♂️

The Fly

Buddy!? I said I am not gheeeyy!!!

John A

If you don't know what Good Will Hunting 2 is, you're missing out on way more than you even know

Byrd N. Hand

Directors for whom she's watched at least 5 of their films for the channel: Steven Spielberg - 21 (22 if you count "Poltergeist") Ron Howard - 10 Richard Donner - 8 (9 if you count "Superman II") Robert Zemeckis - 7 Alfred Hitchcock - 6 (need to pump those numbers up, IMO) Martin Scorsese - 6 (ditto) Peter Jackson - 6 Tim Burton - 6 Bryan Singer - 6 Christopher Nolan - 5 Francis Ford Coppola - 5 Clint Eastwood - 5 Ridley Scott - 5 Tony Scott - 5 James Cameron - 5 Ivan Reitman - 5 Denis Villeneuve - 5 J.J. Abrams - 5 I may have missed a couple, but I believe that's the vast majority of them. Disappointingly, Kubrick, Tarantino, and the Coens all miss the cut (and all sit at just 3 -- counting "Kill Bill" as 1 film). 🤔

Byrd N. Hand

Wasn't it called "Better Will Hunting?" 😏 Seriously, though, my top Cassie re-watch/Carly first-time watch wish remains "What's Up, Doc?"

keoma songs

I've never subbed to their Patreon but I've thought about it. I'll echo what some others have written plus a little more: 1. They do react to a much deeper pool of movies without regard for if they're hits, usually in horror or action, that I appreciate. Re-Animator, From Beyond, sequels to horror franchises that get ignored, The Crazies (both), miscellaneous movies with few or no other reactions from Clive Barker, Tobe Hooper, Wes Craven, George Romero, etc. Life of Pi, Buckaroo Banzai, so many more obscure movies. Unfortunately Mr Movies has nearly seen them all, but they don't hide it. 2. The other unique thing they only did one time was the 'reverse' episode they did for for Valentine's Day a few years ago where the Mrs made Mr watch Pride and Prejudice. It was fun and I wish they did more of that sort of thing, where the cowboy bro horror/action fan has to watch romances.

Clarence Newman

Cassie did mention Croc Dundee 3 for Australia Day in a recent live. Not a definite decision, but if it’s on her radar, then she’ll probably watch that first. I’m a huge Croc Dundee fan and even my advice to that is….please no. Gallipoli is way better.

Gray

Yeah I love Croc 1 & 2 I have even rewatched the reactions a couple of times. But i've only ever seen Croc 3 once and that was enough. It was pretty crap.

Richard Maurer

Clarence - Thank you for a rare moment of sanity.

Richard Maurer

I thought it was Good Will 2: The Hunting Continues.

Clay F

Her reactions are genuine. A rewatch of a movie she watched 20 years ago as a kid and didn’t pay attention with distractions, i.e., the movie was just on in the house — and she doesn’t remember. The anti-rewatch sentiment in such a situation is anal retentive to me. Glad that was not the plurality among voting patrons in last poll with a rewatch. The plurality of voting patrons welcomed a rewatch reaction in that scenario, especially if paired with a first watch by Carly (e.g., Good Will Hunting, Forrest Gump).

Clay F

Gallipoli or The Dish would be good.

Geoff S.

Youtube took down Cassie's "Some Like It Hot" video!

Chris Thom

Anyone know if she's seen Baz Luhrmann's Australia yet?

Just Plain Bob

Some suggestions for an Australia Day poll: Dark Age - John Jarratt plays a ranger trying to capture a massive killer croc Dead End Drive-In - teens trapped in a drive in as societal constraints break down Housebound - a young woman is under house arrest, only to discover the house may be haunted Long Weekend - a feuding couple disrespect nature, to their detriment Next of Kin - Quentin Tarantino compared it favorably to The Shining; it’s good, but not that good Nightmares (aka Stage Fright) - slasher film done right Not Quite Hollywood - superb documentary about the history of Ozploitation Patrick - a comatose man wreaks havoc on those that displease him Razorback - giant pig terrorizes the countryside Road Games - Jamie Lee Curtis and Stacy Keach cross paths with a maniac; clearly an influence on The Hitcher Rogue - giant saltwater croc waits for its meal as tourists are trapped in a tidal island that’s slowly being submerged Stunt Rock (Death Wish At 120 Decibels) - just stunts and rock n’ roll Undead - fantastic, funny zombie flick Wake In Fright - a school teacher falls into dissolution when stranded in a small town Wolf Creek - based on a real serial killer case, the courts halted its release until the related criminal trial was concluded; stars John Jarratt of Dark Age fame

Clay F

The Inspired Poll – November 2025. 11 choices. 650 votes – Forrest Gump rewatch (Carly had never seen it) (1994) 606 – Dead Poets Society (1989) 279 – Cool Hand Luke (1967) 144 – World’s Fastest Indian (2005) 131 – Men of Honor (2000) 124 – Terms of Endearment (1983) 88 – The Hurricane (1999) 87 – Invictus (2009) 68 – I am Sam (2001) 67 – Finest Hours (2016) 42 – The Hundred Foot Journey (2014) Forrest Gump (the only rewatch in poll) came in very strong 1st place with Dead Poet’s Society being the only close other choice. Forrest Gump rewatch was a success = great full reaction + 292K views on YT. Plus, they really seemed to like Forrest Gump. They additionally reacted to Dead Poets Society (98K views on YT), which I think was too sad for them.

Jaz 😁

Hello 😃, I've been a member for a year now! I really enjoyed your reactions i recently watched it's a wonderful life with you and Carly . I live alone so I enjoy and appreciate all the reactions you do as it makes me feel I have company 😊

keoma songs

Red Letter Media has a new episode today about Star Trek Deep Space 9 and mentions an article going over the phenomenon of the impact of reaction videos on younger people, with how those videos are leading to new fans of the classic series like to TOS and TNG. I would like to think Cassie has played a role in that and she should feel proud, she's done a good thing.

Mike Lemon

Rights can get very complicated very quickly, so take this with a grain of salt, but it looks like Amazon controls it.

Chris Thom

I could definitely believe that. For older movies too. Genuinely believe that they've been a net positive for the industry. They should cool it a bit with the copyright strikes. I mean there's been movies I've seen five times already that I rented specifically for this channel, and streamers I might've ended my subscription to if not for PIB or other groups.

Cole Jennett

This is a ridiculous comment Joe. You’re telling me that her reaction to Forrest Gump wasn’t a genuine reaction? She knew he ran, and had a beard, and a couple of the more famous lines.

Byrd N. Hand

Personally, I feel the actual war was better off left to our own imaginations -- along with what little footage of it that we saw in those first 3 movies.

Vincent Vega

Clay, I watched the Forest Gump reaction and I was bitterly disappointed that it was sa rewatch. I only finished it because A) I'd already planned to do the watch along and B) it was Carly's first time. I'm with John, watching someone rewatch a film they've seen is just watching someone watch a film and is of zero interesting me whatsoever. If you enjoy those kind of reactions then good for you, it's definitely not for me but you do you bro

Byrd N. Hand

I still question whether these awards shows actually *need* a host at this point...

The Last Wave is on HBO Max, does that count as Australian enough? Richard Chamberlain is doing kind of a nebulous accent to my ears. The clip played of him with the snippet of lines during the opening of the TCM Remembers 2025 passings video on YouTube was enough for me to finally watch it. Liked it okay.

Chris Thom

Oh interesting. I could definitely see that.

Richard Maurer

It’s the studios who unfortunately have control over the copyright strikes. And they are greedy and shortsighted enough to only worry about a perceived loss of revenue in the present, not long term gains in the future.

Richard Maurer

How do you know about my multiple Dracula suits? Are you stalking me !?!!!!!

Clarence Newman

Kawaii. Who are we taking about - Heath Ledger or Mick Jagger?

Let me know when Midnight Run drops and I will subscribe again. These are the types of decent films from the 80s and 90s worth seeing again with you.

Byrd N. Hand

Adding "A Woman Under the Influence" and "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" -- two of the best lead actress performances of the year. I'll throw in the lesser known "California Split" and "The Yakuza" as well.

Joe J

Repeat after me everyone, "Cassie does not remember, Cassie does not remember"...LOL.

Joe J

Midnight Run will (should) drop by Tuesday Jan 20, within 7-days of her update post is a good rule-of-thumb.

John A

Yeah it's entirely different if they don't remember anything

GillyBean

niche option of the two episode Deadline Gallipoli? i'm sure cassie would looovvvee to see charles dance again so soon XD

"Is that right, Ray?" Genius making him Karen Sisco's dad. Also, OUT OF SIGHT had me believing, along with the insanity yet visual eyegasm that was THE CELL, that JLo was a great actress. After that, she made a lot of questionable choices on scripts (said the guy who had a script she passed on in 2003; the feedback: "We love the concept and the execution, but it's too suburban. We are about urban and edge." I said to her agent, "That was the whole idea of her in this! It would open up a whole new market identification for her through this character." I got the, "We can't wait to see what you do next" line, which is the "I'll call you babe" line in HWood. 🤣)

Until the memories come flooding back

Donald

What version of Fantastic Four?

Donald

Oh I see it's the new one, was hoping for any of the others... I think the 2015 one especially is under appreciated

Clay F

Forrest Gump was on in her house 20-25 years ago when she was a tween. She didn't pay attention. There were distractions. She remembered essentially nothing. No memories came flooding back. There were no memories.

Schmidty

For Justice League... PLEASE watch the Zack Snyder Cut!

Vincent Vega

Whatever you say, Clay. Bottom line, some of us aren't interested in re-watches, whether she remembers or she doesn't

Cole Jennett

So if she doesn’t remember a movie, and has a great reaction it’s still no good on principle because it was technically a rewatch? Sounds like someone is a little too tied to their narrative. It’s ok to be wrong, lol.

Clay F

I think if the movie is popular and she doesn't remember the movie, there is a good chance we could get a rewatch reaction -- either by her executive action or by a patron poll. There have been two patron polls in the last year having a rewatch reaction as a choice. The first was Forest Gump which won the poll (see results above). Gave me hope that the anti-rewatch sentiment for movies she doesn't remember is not that great, especially b/c only talking 2-3 times per year. The second poll was a baseball poll having Moneyball (2011) rewatch that came in 3rd. She really wanted to react to Moneyball but uable to beat Bad News Bears. And the 2nd place Rookie is a good movie. BASEBALL MOVIE POLL (Mar 31, 2025) Bad News Bears (1976) - 29% The Rookie (2002) - 17% Moneyball (2011) ***rewatch - 13% Eight Men Out (1988) - 10% Trouble with the Curve (2012) - 10% Mr. Baseball (1992) - 7% Pride of the Yankees (1942) - 6% 61* (2001) - 5% The Perfect Game (2009) - 2% Million Dollar Arm (2014) - 1%

Clay F

I think we are getting a rewatch reaction to the Nolan Batman trilogy. Not sure when. I am ecstatic.

Shreddy

It's underrated. IMO it's in the same tier as Beverly Hills Cop and 48 Hours. IMO those are the 3 best 80s buddy cop action comedies. The sequel "Another Stakeout" was bad though

Richard Maurer

I think she just might prefer the version starring a young Mel Gibson for some reason.

Richard Maurer

Rewatches depend entirely on the movie. Pan’s Labyrinth? Absolutely. The Bourne films? Nope.

Richard Maurer

Turned out to be a pretty good reaction.

Clay F

That is the plan. All 4 hours.

Schmidty

Thank God. The theatrical is Bunz

John A

Interstellar, from what I understand, is a rewatch I wish would happen

Vincent Vega

I wouldn't know whether it's a great reaction or not because I wouldn't watch it! It does always make me laugh when somebody tells me that my opinion and preferences are wrong though so thanks for the chuckle, Cole 😂

Gray

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms starts tonight for those waiting on the GoT drop and want something to watch. Hopefully it's pretty decent.

Cole Jennett

The hope is to have the YouTube edit drop an hour before

Mark Vaderr

This is probably all true about Billy Crystal. That being said, I never saw him bring it along with him to the Oscars. He knew how to be a host.

Mark Vaderr

I've heard Mark Ruffalo speak for years. He can believe whatever he wants to believe. There are some people who have their own perspective. Doesn't make them right or wrong, just different, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Mark Vaderr

Some of the greatest movies ever made have also been awarded for the writing, acting, directing and for strictly being entertaining. Then again, there are movie and people who've had their award bought for them, thanks to Harvey Weinstein and others.
