Sorry but the invisible woman pushing back Galactus all by herself ruined it for me. Preposterous even for a comic book movie

William Brownlee

I'm not going to say bad things about the movie. I'm 67 and have collected Fantastic Four comics for about 58 years. Started buying them with saved up lunch money from school. Ordering one every month or so from an ad in the books. I have all but about 3 of the first 300 issues. I have dreamed of a great Fantastic Four movie for most of my life. I thought that Galatus was the perfect villian for the MCU after Thanos. The original 3 issue introduction of Galatus is considered by many to be the best story in the history of comics. Again, you probably have to be a fan to know why many didn't like Pedro Pascal being Reed. Not a terrible movie, but I just wanted so much more. It needed space to develop. Imagine if Thanos had been introduced and wrapped up in one movie instead of building slowly to a huge climax. That is what I wanted. Build up. I hope you like it. I always enjoy your reactions. The ones I watch. I have skipped all the GOT reaction. Not into palace intrigue. Loved "Bringing up Baby". One of my favorite classics. Hope you and the family stay well.

Maybe the 616 Galactus will be a bigger buildup if the next two Avengers movies go the way we think they will. Probably your last chance to see Galactus in a movie/show

William Brownlee

Think Doctor Doom will be the Driving force of the two Avengers movies. Doomsday and Secret Wars. I believe Secret Wars is based on the later mini-series and that was driven by Doctor Doom. Doubt Galatus will appear in Doomsday.

I saw the trailer for this when I was in the theater watching F1 (w/Brad Pitt). I knew nothing of F4 (I have never read a comic). The trailer didn't do much for me. I am typically not into these type of movies. I had low expectations. But I liked F4 (2025) when I watched the movie along with your full reaction. I like the message/theme of family. Pedro and Vanessa Kirby both were awesome. The '60s-inspired, retro-futuristic world was cool. I have really been enjoying your reactions, especially your GoT reactions.

KyloJames

Strong theme, weak execution, great actors, mid-performances, strong viewpoints against anyone who disagrees (re: users who no longer worry about introductions, saving face, wanting to be excluded from any singularity). MCU has an open sand lot, and an open video game…god bless 🙏🙏

Christian Becker

As always, I liked your reaction, and it is always a pleasure to see Carly as well. I enjoyed the full movie watch-along. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I watched the first third of your reaction twice, because I fell asleep on my first try. I really don't know what happened to me. I once really liked superhero movies.

Darren Harrison

I saw it twice at the theater because I heard that Marvel actually lost money on this movie. I’m sure they will break even when Blu-ray and streaming sales are factored in. They had the misfortune of opening against Superman and facing a general decline in superhero fare with people claiming fatigue

Richard Maurer

I already watched the full reaction on Patreon so…..I watched the YouTube edit too. Great movie, great reaction by the Popcorn sisters.

Richard Maurer

Except in the comics she was able to contain Galactus with her force field. Was this a modern day upgrade to her power level? Nope, it happened in Fantastic Four #50 in 1966. Sue is and always has been the powerful member of the team, particularly when she’s protecting her family.

Tim C

Not bad retro vibe kinda cool .Off topic but a favorite Clint Eastwood Movie (Trouble with a Curve ) He a Grumpy Old Baseball Scout with a fiesta Daughter who a Lawyer.

John A

Probably got tired of the same plot over and over and over. 96 spiderman movies, 28 fantastic four movies, 76 batman movies... Same shit over and over

Clarence Newman

I went through IMDB a few years ago, Tim, because I was convinced I'd watched every Clint Eastwood film ever made. Turns out the only one I hadn't watched was Trouble With The Curve. Good movie, elevated (as always) by Clint, and also a sports movie which Cassie and Carly always enjoy.

Clay F

I like "Trouble with the Curve" (2012) (sport/romance). I love Amy Adams. Justin Timberlake was good. And of course, as Clarence indicated, elevated by Clint Eastwood.

Rosario Cicero

So I guess the sloppy writing began in the comix

Alex Gorell

Don’t forget the history of Fantastic four films is pretty bad so it had that going against them as well.

Chris Thom

Never saw that. Vaguely remember N'Sync being in that after the Facebook movie.

Cole Jennett

Trouble with the Curve is fairly high on my request list.

Richard Maurer

Male superhero characters in both comics and movies do things greater than what Sue did, with little to no cost to themselves, unlike Sue who (spoiler alert ) DIED from the effort of pushing Galactus, something that everyone who has a problem with her being powerful always ignores.

Rosario Cicero

I don’t have a problem with her being powerful you silly toad. Just not to the point she can overwhelm Galactus on her own

Richard Maurer

I’m not silly. And obviously she can. She did it both in this movie and in the comics. It’s only in your head that she can’t.

Rosario Cicero

You’re completely missing my point. I understand the writers of the film/comics made that creative decision but to me it’s highly inconsistent and arbitrary. Galactus is one of the most powerful characters in the history of comics so it seemed like the invisible woman being able to move him is HIGHLY unlikely. By the way- there is no scenario in the comics in which she is able to move him or defeat him by herself. I just looked it up on Grok

Richard Maurer

As I mentioned, Sue contained Galactus in her force field in FF #50. That comic was written by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the creators of the Fantastic Four. So I’m going to have to go with them on this matter. And if she could contain him she could move him. And I looked it up too, but from actual sources. AI is often wrong and Grok is probably the least accurate one.

Sean

This is such a good film, with lots of heart. Loved your reactions.

Rosario Cicero

You're the one who's least accurate. How's this for a source- I just looked through Fantastic Four #50 on marvel.com and it never happened

Richard Maurer

Yes it did happen. I don’t know what made-up junk you’re reading. In FF #50, She not only trapped Galactus with her force field, she made him flee the planet when he couldn’t find a way out of it. So the movie version of Sue might be under-powered, if anything. None of this really matters though. While it’s nice to have the comics to back up her actual power level, there’s literally no reason the writers of the movie couldn’t have increased her power level if they wanted to - it’s not like any MCU character is 100% comics cannon anyway, but most people don’t really seem to care. If you want to hate on a good movie just because you think a female character is little op, have fun. It’s not going to change the movie or the minds of anyone who enjoyed it, me included. That final battle is one of the best in the MCU, as far as I’m concerned.

Happy Hanukkah

"In FF #50, She not only trapped Galactus with her force field, she made him flee the planet when he couldn’t find a way out of it." Sorry, RM, but I have no idea what you're talking about. Whether in #50 or in any other comic. (What the MCU chooses to do is another matter entirely, which I won't be getting into.)

Richard Maurer

HH - Who invited you? Can’t you see this is a serious discussion about a silly topic?

Richard Maurer

Did Sue Storm really help defeat Galactus in FF #50 - according to Google’s AI she did. Depending how you ask it gives different answers. AI literally lies to you and makes up things to give weight to ANY position you may have. All AI does this: Grok, Chat gbt, etc. Sorry I started playing this “my AI says” game but it was enlightening (to me at least). I Initially just went with the AI answer because I was busy and I didn’t have time research further. But after the Op said he looked it up Grok I did some research and found out that that google AI lies even more than I had previously believed possible. So why, did I pretend like my research backed up the AI? That was me wanting to see where things would go with one AI (google) against another (grok) before coming clean (notice at that point I said not to trust AI), but that wasn’t going anywhere as op stopped quoting Grok and then Happy Hanukkah called me on it, so I needed to stop it from going any further and let the cat of the bag. Conclusion: Never trust AI. It’s not a good source of information, before this happened I didn’t realize just how bad it is. I will never use a AI answer again as a source as it’s completely unreliable. Edit: before this goes anywhere. I just want to apologize to Rosario for the last couple of posts I made. While my intentions were as stated (to see if any more Grok based answers would be made) I shouldn’t have continued to defend a position I knew was false, whatever my intentions. While I could see how this might be seen as trolling, and maybe it was, a little bit anyway, but I normally don’t troll people. It was just a poor decision overall on my part, based in part on my own dismay at being deceived by a Ai answer, which I already knew better than to trust. Mea culpa.

Mike Lemon

I just read #50, and looked through #49- Sue never encased Galactus, the Surfer did and only for a few moments. The only time Sue used a force field against anyone in either of those two comics was against the Punisher (not that The Punisher, just an alien minion of Galactus in 49) and she said she couldn't keep the field up if he kept pounding on it. And Galactus only "fleed" when Johnny brought back The Ultimate Nullifier.

Richard Maurer

By the way, this doesn’t change the fact that Sue is the most powerful member of the FF.

Happy Hanukkah

RM: My mistake. I thought this was a silly discussion about a serious topic. Exkooz my konfoozon.

Richard Maurer

Mike see my answer above your comment for the full story. But that is correct, it never happened except according to AI, it did. Just depends on how you ask it. Do not trust AI.
