Hey guys! Here is the full reaction to The Cutting Edge! This was one of the movies that I pulled out of the pillow case. I think it fits in well because not only is it the month of love, but the Olympics are going on right now. Quite the coincidence! Anyway, hope you have a great weekend and enjoy the reaction. Replacements will come on Saturday!

This reminded me of my childhood. I always loved watching figure skating and I use to love this movie as a child. Every time I watch I always wish they would've shown them winning the gold but hey I'll settle for the kiss. Loved your reaction 😍

Shaun Ganyo

You're so busy tonight! Have a great weekend!

MatthewBrown74m

Nala from lion king looks good skiing lol no seriously she was the voice of nala

Yann Laliberté

Love this movie. Moira Kelly was one of my crush back then. Yes she is mean but and advised eye can see pretty soon what a sweet one she is underneath. About the ending, the way I see it is the gold medal did not matter to them anymore, so because of that it shouldn't matter to us.

djKENTO

I’ve never seen this before. Was cool to see Hale/Dwier Brown again after he played Kevin Costner’s dad in Field of Dreams.

MJ

If you want a recommendation for a great love movie for Feb, you should watch the Anime movie Your Name. You do an rent it on Amazon and watch it in English. In my opinion it’s THE GREATEST LOVE STORY EVER!

Robert da Spruce

I haven’t watched this movie in decades. But it was a little bit of a guilty pleasure back in the day. Can’t wait to watch this one! Toe Pick!

Damon Corrigan

I figured that you would have a little issue with the abruptness at the end of the movie. :) Great reaction, and wonderful timing for this film. For us, its one of those watch once a year or two films. The intensity of their back and forth is always fun to watch.

G

There's nothing quite like a good rom-com to lift your mood. After this, The Replacements and Can't Buy Me Love, you'll be fine. We promise.

Carol_White

Cassie should become a Hollywood consultant for how to make a chick flick.

ENC SW DV Rush

If you enjoyed this one,.... you might also enjoy Ice Castles (1978) with Robby Benson and Lynn-Holly Johnson.

Todzilla

Never seen this film, and probably still won't LOL. But hats off to Cassie for being so cool to pull a film out of a pillowcase and watch it for all of us! I just wish she would have pulled Robocop out. I need to just mail her like 200 copies so the odds are much better she'll pull it. ;)

Bryan Harris

As a man I have always enjoyed a good "chick flick", not the Hallmark Channel style but a good film. I don't think I have seen this one since it came out... pretty good!

Krusty “Topher”

Good flick! Both were great young actors! Another winter sport movie I always kinda liked was Aspen Extreme. Not well known but had Peter Berg in it. And for best goofball ski movie!!??? Ski School!!!🤣

Robert da Spruce

I would like to suggest another winter sports related movie, Cool Runnings starring John Candy.

Mr Jordan

The selection of this movie was definitely preordained given it's the month of love and the Winter Olympics. The other movies in that pillow case had as much of a chance as Eddie the Eagle winning a gold medal.

Andrew Hogan

I fell in love with this movie on a plane ride to see relatives in Canada back when I was 12. Wish DB Sweeney had more opportunities in the industry. It is a bit rushed and a little dated at this point, but it always bring back fond memories and I was only a few years into watching hockey at that point. My mom loved watching the figure skating during the Olympics as well, so I watched all those matches back then. I wonder if we can convince her to watch Cool Runnings since it’s an Olympic movie and stars John Candy.

Michael Lynch

Her being so mean was the whole plot behind this movie. She was so stuck up and unwilling to blame herself for the mess ups that nobody could work with her. It took somebody like Doug to break through and make her admit her own faults. In the end it was finally him admitting to her that he loved her that woke her up.

When you think about it, it's basically Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew on ice.

Rainmaker203

This film holds a special place in my heart. My mom passed away from cancer in 2020, and this was the last film we ever watched together. So cool to see someone finally reacting to this!

“Feel the rhythm! Feel the rhyme! Get on up, it’s bobsled time! Cool runnings!” Great movie, but I think she watched it already before she started the channel. 🤯

Rose

This was so much fun watching with you Cassie! Josh Sorokach’s “The Cutting Edge is the Forgotten Cult Classic of The 90s” accurately described my feelings about this movie but yes, the abrupt ending always left me peeved, too. If Gilroy had written a sequel, DB Sweeney and Moira Kelly would have done it. I really wish they had made more films together bc I loved their chemistry. Moira was in DB’s cult film Two Tickets to Paradise but their shared screen time was short-lived and so disappointing. “Cutting Edge star D.B. Sweeney on making a toe-picking classic” is a really interesting intvw. He talked about the behind the scenes and how he and Moira had no ice skating experience. Moira was a natural, though, and had gotten so good during their 3 month training period, but after landing a jump wrong, she broke her leg and had to wear a cast on her foot for most of the shoot. Also DB’s friend Chris Chelios had a split second cameo as one of the German hockey players. “How The Cutting Edge pulled off the impossible Pamchenko” is another cool backstory about the stunt team. Anyway, I’m really glad you had fun! You gave a perfect summation at the end. I also love watching the Olympics and can’t wait for it to start. Don’t know if you’ve seen the 80s cult classic “Teen Witch,” but Blake Lively is a huge fan of this film. It’s her half-sister Robyn Lively’s most iconic role.

Steve Mercier

For what this movie is...it's fun. D.B. Sweeney and Moira Kelly have great chemistry. But the music...the music in this movie is just holy sweet Jesus god-awful.

Ted Sheckler

Should also watch Cool Runnings, it’s a John Candy movie!

Grinznmore

Well look who appeared out of the corn field. John Kinsella. Notice the resemblance with fiancée Hale Forrest. Both played by actor Dwier Brown. I thought the cinematography was impressive and I was hoping to see them skate to some unconventional music. Thank you for bringing enjoyment to our evenings.

MoulinNoir

WHHAAAAAA? NObody ever watches this movie, and for a long time it was my go to snow-day flick i can't believe you actually watched it! i'm very happy

Timothy Burrows

FYI in the sequel (that isn't worth watching) it is revealed they did win the gold and are married.

Robert da Spruce

Nice reaction Cassie! I hadn’t watched this since the 90’s. Wasn’t sure how it would age. The skating sections did show their age a little. Clearly they had stunt doubles for the more difficult skating. But the way they zoomed in tight and the motion blur kinda looked cheesy at times. But overall, still fun and satisfying to watch! I didn’t think Moira’s character was too mean personally. I think D.B. gave as good as he got. So they were well matched IMO. Overall, a fun, light hearted movie! You know, the more I see your reactions Cassie, the more I enjoy them. But you really need to work on your winking skills! 😉 JK. Nice work! Off to watch some Olympics now!

Gideon James

Hey Cassie, not sure if you've noticed but your source video audio is getting louder again on the reactions. You've said you keep it louder for your youtube editor, but it makes watching very difficult since it's impossible to sync 100%. Anything you can do for your Patreon subscribers would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sahitya

Pretty decent romcom, but I feel like there was missing the 1 scene. 1 scene where they start to respect each other and maybe a tiny spark, cuz it felt like once he started to keep up with her skating, she automatically starts to not mind his company.

laughingfool100

This is fabulous! I've loved this movie for years, but no one ever seems to have heard of it! Now I'm finding out it's a cult classic. That just makes makes me happy!

>>77239533

Huh? It's not a problem at all you're the only person to mention it.

Chris Lüders

Dear Cassie, for 'the Month of Love' I can only recommend the movie 'Pretty Woman'. Suddenly I had to think about this movie. 😊

Steven Ashford

Great reaction. Cassie in a bad mood for two days? Can’t imagine what that looks like. And since you love the Olympics miracle on ice is a great one. It’s hockey right up your alley.

Michael Watson

You know not everyone can do this. I've tried several times.

Erik Daniel

I had a rough couple of days as well. I feel kind of bad that you can't do what I did. Which was download a few full reactions from your channel and hang out in bed, No popcorn, sorry but I did have a big bag of mini eggs. Now the mini eggs did help cheer me up slightly, lol, but it was mostly having a blast watching a few movies with you and your sister. I re watched your Die Hard reaction and at the end, when Hans is falling and Carly asks "you can't shoot a gun while falling right?" Before responding "I don't know", Cassie points a finger gun in the air to test out the theory lol. I mean, that right there is worth the price of admission lol. Thank you for the smiles and sorry we couldn't cheer you up like you do for us (I'm sure it's not just me) p.s. my older sister was heavy into figure skating growing up and wow does this ever bring it all back.

Exactly- 90s nostalgia.. the feels.. this is one of my fav rom-coms ever bc it’s guaranteed to make me happy & have a hell of a good time. Glad it did the same for Cassie. Her big sighhh at the end - me every time - never gets old. Yet I hated the abrupt ending when I first watched it as a kid. I always needed & wanted so much more! Still do.

Singing Wordwright

Another rom com I'd highly recommend, one which never gets any attention considering how wonderful it is on just about every front, is "Return to Me" starring David Duchovny and Minnie Driver, written and directed by the brilliant Bonnie Hunt. It's just sweet and funny and touching. Very worth checking out.

That was one of my Dad's favorites. A very sweet film with some great supporting roles.

Jon Johns
>>77342506

This is one of my favorite little Cassie easter eggs. Also, hope you're feeling better...

Singing Wordwright
>>77356402

Yes! The supporting cast was such a joy! It really is just the absolute sweetest, funniest, almost innocent rom-com and it's just such an undiscovered gem. Almost no one knows about it.

Erik Daniel
>>77342506

lol how good was that. And thank you so much Jon Johns. All good, a little relax and reset, a few movies with our wonderful host and to quote the Oracle "right as rain".

Aimee

I loved this. I was ten when this came out, and I remember watching it at home and then putting my Rollerblades on and skating around our large dining room, pretending I was a figure skater. I knew you’d enjoy this one. Roy Dotrice, who plays the coach, is great. My favorite role of his is as “Father” in the 1980s television show “Beauty and the Beast”.

Erik Daniel
>>77356402

Your description of the movie is right on. I think she would absolutely love it.

Bill Poulter

loved, loved, loved it....not the movie, Cassie, talking about your reaction! I love how you always wear your heart on your sleeve with these reactions. Thanks, again, for such an enjoyable time...this was always my mother's favorite movie and brought back many great memories for me (I used to be a dance roller skating competitor). Looking forward to more...and give my best to Carly; hoping to see both of you together again soon!

Doc Savage

I was a teen when I 1st saw this many a moon ago.. ahhh the memories. Lol I developed a huge crush on Moira Kelly from this movie; which was the LEAD factor in me watching One Tree Hill. So much fun watching again here.

Michael J

I can't believe no one remember's American Anthem. Or I'm the only one who liked it. A gymnast, romance, underdog movie. Hidden gem to me.

Colin Gutierrez
>>77717859

If it's the movie where the gymnast has an angry disabled friend who composes music for her routines I remember it. Saw it on HBO at my grandma's house one summer when I was bored out of my skull. :D

Jayie

Huh, I've never actually seen this movie, but I've heard it mentioned. I may have to watch this reaction later. I actually grew up figure skating, all the way up until I graduated high school, and I still love it even if I haven't skated in a while. As a skater, I'd like to recommend a film that is in no way, shape, or form accurate to the sport, but still well-loved in skating circles (at least the ones I've been in) - Blades of Glory. It is absolutely ridiculous but that's the fun of it. ^^ (Also, my mom and I were clutching each other's hands in complete anxiety while Nathan Chen was skating, but watching him finally win that Olympic gold was such a moment of joy, I'm so glad he finally got his gold)
